Unique Programs
Covid-19 and ASD 2019-2020 On March 7, 2020 and for the remainder of the year, all students transitioned into virtual learning that provided both synchronous and asynchronous learning platforms. 2020-2021 ASD adopted an 80/20% Blended Learning model with students in school for 4 days and virtual for 1 day each week. Extra-curricular activities were limited. All sporting activities were suspended and student organizations were virtual. 2021-PRESENT ASD has resumed 100% in person learning.
Each of the following programs are application based:
AP CAPSTONE DIPLOMA Students choose from 25 Advanced Placement courses including Capstone, a culminating two-year credential program in which students complete in depth research on world phenomena. GLOBAL ONLINE ACADEMY ASD partners with GOA, a consortium of the top independent schools from around the world to provide students with rigorous authentic distance learning opportunities. This learning opportunity challenges students to develop core competencies and global citizenship skills.

SELF-DIRECTED PROJECT Students choose an area of study that fits within local and global context and connect it to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This student-driven course supports the development and growth of the ASD student profile attributes. INTERNSHIP An inquiry-based pedagogical approach that provides opportunities for students to coconstruct their learning. They participate in rich experiences in a community outside school, reflect on those experiences to derive meaning, and apply their learning to influence their decisions and actions in various aspects of their lives.
