CHAIRMAN'S WELCOME Good afternoon and welcome to today’s visitors
from
Darlaston
Town
1874.
Darlaston sit above us in the table and we still have to visit their place so today is vital for both sides and it should be a cracker. I thought we played very well at Paget Rangers last Saturday and our finishing from Sam and Chris was of the highest quality so hopefully we can see some more of that today. We are hoping the weather has been kind to us over the week, as you will know our pitch can prove problematic with excessive rain, it’s something we are well aware of and working hard to address. I have to pay tribute to our long suffering groundsman Ian Irving who works tirelessly to get our games on for Seniors, Juniors and the Saturday morning soccer school, we can’t say it often enough but, thank you Ian ! We have tried a new initiative todays and reached out to many local businesses and
lads all the best for today’s game, we have 9 games left to secure a place in the play offs which would be tremendously exciting for everyone. Thanks

ANDY GRAY
FIRST TEAM UPDATE Hello and welcome to everyone. As I’m sure you're aware, the club have been busy promoting AIFC around the town recently and I hope because of their efforts, I’ll see some new faces today. As well as the regulars ones of course. It would be fantastic for us all if your support continues. Our last performance saw another comfortable win. I think those of you who were here would agree that our long layoff without a fixture certainly meant we were slow out of the blocks and the first half was not to our normal levels. We improved considerably in the second period and controlled the game much better. 4-0 was a fair result and a clean sheet is always welcome too. Last Saturday we visited Paget Rangers who are much improved of late. I thought our performance was very professional throughout and the 1-4 victory again, fully deserved. Today's challenge is undoubtedly going to be a much tougher one. We welcome Darlaston who are unbeaten in 12 league games and currently sit in 3rd place in the league. However we have now won our last 6 games
and trained well this week so we look forward to the challenge that today brings. Finally, I hope you all have a good afternoon and hopefully leave having been entertained and of course helping us to secure another 3 points in our attempt to secure a playoff place. Regards, Andy Gray

VS DARLASTON TOWN SATURDAY 12TH MARCH 2022 - WWW.ASHBYIVANHOEFC.CO.UK
IN OPPOSITION TODAY
DARLASTON TOWN Originally formed in 1874 the first known league game was a 2-2 draw against Walsall Unity on 23 September 1893 in the Walsall and District League. The home record gate of 7000 was recorded on 3 April 1899 in a 3-1 win against Wednesbury Old Athletic.
The 2013/14 season saw the WMRL fixtures published for the first time without a Darlaston side present, the club folding in June 2013. Following two public meetings a new committee formed a phoenix club Darlaston Town (1874) FC.
The club moved to the City Ground in January 1900. The origin of the ground name is believed to emanate from the club nickname at the time when they were known as The Citizens. The City Ground became home for 114 years.
During its long and distinguished history 6 FA Cup winners and an FA Cup winning captain have played for the club as have two England internationals including an England captain, a Welsh international and four Football League managers. At least 44 players have progressed into the Football League and 72 former Football League players have also played for the club.
In 1897/98 brought silverware winning the Birmingham County Junior Cup and in 1907/08 the club were crowned champions of the Birmingham Junior League. The club were founder members of the Birmingham Combination, winning it in season 1910/11. Promotion to the Birmingham & District League followed, returning to the Birmingham Combination in 1928/29. The 1937/38 season was probably the most successful in the club’s history winning the Birmingham Combination from runners-up Aston Villa “A” with 64 points out of a maximum 76 and a 101 goal difference. During the Second World War, the Combination ceased to run but on the return to normal Combination Football in season 1945/46 the club were crowned Champions. The Championship winning side included 19-year-old Jack Burkitt who was sold to Nottingham Forest in 1947 going on to make more than 500 League and Cup appearances and captaining them to their 1959 FA Cup Final win over Luton Town. The club were founder members of the West Midlands Regional League (WMRL) in 1962/63 playing in the Premier Division until the 1981/82 season when poor ground facilities demotion to Division One. Promotion back to the Premier Division followed after winning Division One at the end of the1989/90 season. The club became the first side to win the Birmingham County FA Vase in back to back in seasons in 1990/91 and 1991/92.
In 2014 the re-formed club was accepted into the WMRL Division Two. The end of their first season back in the saw the club earn promotion into Division One and the club moved to the impressive Paycare Ground. Since the club has moved to its new home, the club has grown considerably, introducing a successful youth section, with teams playing in the Midland Junior Premier League on Saturday mornings, and the Walsall Junior Youth Leagues on Sundays. The first team earned promotion back into the Premier Division of the WMRL at the end of the 2019/20 season, finishing runners up after a close-run season with Worcester Raiders. The club attracted a Ladies team to play under the name of Darlaston Town (19874) Ladies, who in their first season secured promotion into the Birmingham County Women’s Premier League for the start of the 2020/21 season. After Darlaston’s promotion was announced in order to be promoted the club erected at their now much improved Paycare Ground floodlights on the main pitch, which were duly opened on the 5th November 2019, when the club hosted EFL side Walsall FC, which produced the clubs record attendance of 452.

ASHBY IVANHOE
CLUB HISTORY
A
shby Ivanhoe Football Club was founded in 1948 and play their home matches at the NFU Sports Ground, Lower Packington Road, Ashby de la Zouch in Leicestershire. This is the clubs new home from the beginning of the 2012/2013 season. Since being founded in 1948 up until the end of the 2011/2012 season the clubs previous home was at Hood Park also in Ashby de la Zouch. The club currently consists of Two adult teams and Twelve sides in the Junior section. The first team play in the Midland Football League Division One, with the Knights in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was reintroduced for this season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Four. The club’s junior sides ranging from Under 7’s through to Under 18’s play in the Burton Junior Football League and the Tamworth Junior Football Leagues. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009/2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/11 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have
also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 of the Pyramid system playing in the East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and will play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016. 2015/2016 saw Ashby have another fine season and they mounted a strong title challenge and they led the East Midlands Counties League for the majority of the season before finally finishing in third place. That saw them assured of a first ever appearance in the FA Cup for the 2016/2017 season where the aim again will be to push for promotion to Step 5. The 2016-17 season was the most memorable in the history of Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club. For the very first time in the clubs history they were accepted to play in the most famous club competition in the world, The FA Cup. It turned into a thrilling journey with higher

Prior to the Ilkeston defeat Ashby received a visit from the FA Cup which was paraded through the town centre visiting local sponsors before players and spectators had the opportunity to view the cup at the NFU Sports Ground. The league season was inconsistent with a strong finish to the season seeing the team finish in tenth place. The season did end with a first appearance in the final of the Jenkins & Jenkins League Cup but Dunkirk overturned a one goal deficit late on to see Ashby end as runners-up. The 2017-18 season saw the 1st team finish Seventeenth in the East midland Counties and the Reserves finished in the bottom Two and relegation to Division One. 2018-19 saw the 1st team finish in the bottom half of the East Midlands Counties Football League and The Reserves now called the Knights finish runners up in the Senior League Division One and promoted back to step 7 in the Senior League Premier Division. In the 2019-20 season Ashby first team faced a fresh challenge when they were moved to the Midland Premier League Division one by the FA in a shake up of the NLS, the season as we all know was expunged due to the pandemic. The
Reserves league also had all results expunged. As a club we are now looking to but our ground and have since the end of the previous season become a CIC club.
