The club has a huge responsibility, like other venues you may visit, and this is made all the bit easier if people follow what’s being asked, so please do your bit and ensure we stay open for your pleasure and our survival. Finally, I would like to express my sincere thank you to Bryan Smith who has stepped down from his position as Vice Chairman after taking the post from his previous role as Marketing and Communication Manager. The time and commitment that Bryan gave to the club is hugely valued and this extended to his family too with wife Val helping out with events and fundraising as well Bryan’s daughter. However, Bryan will continue in his role with the club as temp U 7 coach and Under 10 Knights for which he has managed for over 2 and half seasons and will be handing these over when he has passed the baton in the right way which is Bryan’s style and professionalism all over. I, personally, have enjoyed working alongside Bryan and his presence at Management Team meetings will be missed it I thank him for all his commitment, time and effort afforded to the club and we are a better club because of his involvement. All that remains is to wish Andy and the players every success in today’s game and hope we all enjoy the match.

FIRST TEAM UPDATE Hello all. Since my last notes we suffered our first defeat of the season. The 3-4 scoreline may have been entertaining for the neutral but we as a group were left very disappointed with our performance and ultimately the result. Including pre-season we had gone 9 games unbeaten and i think we went into the game a little over confident. We started very well but after taking the lead we started to play a style of football which isn't how we normally play and train. That lead us to the halftime scoreline of 1-4!! A couple of changes and a better second half saw us reduce the arrears but unfortunately it was too little, too late. We have since had 11 days to train and get back to what we do best. The players have accepted the mistakes made by all and today we look to put things right. Today's opponents provide us with another tough challenge, as all teams in this league do. We welcome Heath Hayes to the NFU and hope they enjoy their visit. I hope you enjoy the game. Regards Andy Gray FIRST TEAM UPDATE SPONSORED BY

IN OPPOSITION TODAY - HEATH HAYES Founded as Heath Hayes United. Later Heath Hayes Cons. In 1965 we broke away from Heath Hayes CO-OP Youth Club and formed our own team which we then called Heath Hayes United. The first season was spent in the Cannock Youth League and we ran the team from the Five Ways Inn, because of this we were not very popular with the Area Youth Organiser. After that we joined the Cannock Chase League Division Two, rapidly gaining promotion to Division One and then into the Premier League as well as having a brief flirtation with Sunday football. We also changed our headquarters to the Constitutional Club, so the club then took the name of Heath Hayes Cons F.C. In the early 1970`s the club spent a couple of seasons in the Mid Staffs League, before joining the Staffs County League (South), where we spent 15 very mixed and eventful seasons. In 1989 the Club moved back to the Five Ways and changed our name to Heath Hayes F.C. We also took the bold decision to join the Staffordshire Senior League. We then changed leagues again to the West Midlands Regional League in 1996 where we spent 10 seasons. During this time we became winners of the League Division 1 in the 98/99 season and won the Staffs F.A. Senior Vase Competition in 2002. Changes occurred in 2006 when a new committee and new manager Simon Davies were appointed. This included Paul Mallen as the new Chairman. Due to boundary changes the club was moved into the Midland Combination Premier Division where we finished a respectable 8th. The 07/08 season saw the introduction of the clubs first junior team, with Heath Hayes Under 12’s competing in the Lichfield recreational League. The senior team had a successful run in the F.A. Vase and also reached the final of the Walsall Senior Cup. 08/09 season proved to be a successful season as the club won the Staffordshire Vase by beating Ball Haye Green in a gripping final. It was also the first time the club had been entered into the F.A. Cup but unfortunately lost their opening tie. 09/10 Saw the club achieve charter standard status and made history by winning the league title promoting them into the Midland Football Alliance. At the end of the 2012/13 season Simon Davies stepped down as first team manager after 7 years, with Steve Taylor taking over after a spell with the junior setup. Hayes survived relegation that year and the club also celebrated it’s 50th birthday with a party in a marquee on the pitch at the end of the season. The continued growth of the club that year resulted in Hayes having the largest number of junior teams it has ever had in its history, with 16 teams ranging from under 7’s to under 21’s. Taylor resigned from 1st team manager role soon after the 2014/15 season began and Simon Davies returned to the club only 18 months after he had left. The club again avoided relegation by the narrowest of margins that season, but the following season the club could not repeat this and were unfortunately relegated to Division 1 of the newly formed Midland Football League. The Under 21’s however had a successful season, winning the North West League title. Last season Davies took charge again and further progress occurred at the club as the partnership with The Five Ways pub, which had been its base for after match hospitality for years, ended and the club had its own base on site. Davies steered his young Hayes side to a creditable 8th position and also clinched the Staffs Senior Vase for the 3rd time in the clubs history. For the 2016-17season, life president John Deans took over as Chairman of the club. On the pitch Davies started the season but resigned in November, with Jamie Hawkins taking over as First Team Manager. Further changes took place at the end of the season with Craig Brotherton taking over as Manager and John Simkin becoming Chairman. Further changes took place at the end of the 2017-18 season with Steve Cooke taking the Managers role and Mick Robinson becoming Chairman.

ASHBY KNIGHTS UPDATE After being newly appointed as the Ashby Knights manger this season, I was keen to get going. I made the decision to add a few experienced players to the talented young squad that I inherited. This really complemented the team and I was pleased with how preseason went. With 3 D 1L 2 W, we rolled into the start of the season optimistic and excited about having a good season. 1st game v Blaby and Whetstone ended in a 1-0 defeat. After a slower start and lack in concentration we ended 1 – 0 down in the 1st 10 mins. After the goal we settled down and started to open the opposition up and create chances. We were the better team for the remaining 80 mins creating 9/10 clear cut chances. We just couldn’t find the right touch to score on this day but having played some really good football, we took the opening defeat on the chin and we were looking forward to the next game. 2nd game v Ellistown 2-2 draw. Drawing on how well we played in the opening day defeat we were determined to kick start the season in the local derby on a Thursday night under the lights. A fast start is what we talked about and is what I demanded. From our own kick off we ended up 1 down after 30 seconds due to a mistake. We then settled ourselves and started to play some nice football; missing a couple of half chances in the little spell. After a penalty appeal got turned down for us, Ellistown went down the other end on the break and got the 2nd goal. The move could probably have been stopped if we were a little smarter. Half time came and I asked the lads to find something within themselves to turn this round, find the inner passion that was lacking. After a huge rally around in the dressing room, we started the 2nd half well, playing some lovely football and carving the opposition open. I felt if we just kept going and believed in ourselves, we would turn this around. Halfway through the 2nd half we got a break when Thomas Windfield was brought down in the box. Captain Sam Hankin stepped up calmly slotted the penalty into the top corner. This ignited even more spirit from the lads and Boom, 2 mins later Nathan McAllister added a second with his head from the corner which he had been threatening all night from set pieces. We had a couple more chances to win it in the last 10 mins but their keeper made a couple of good saves to keep it 2-2 which is how the game finished. 3rd game 1-0 win V Hathern. After the high of Thursday night's 2nd half comeback, we reiterated to the lads that we just wanted a safe start to the 3rd game after previously conceding early on in both games. We started strong and took commanded of the game early on, playing some lovely football. After continually pressing high up the pitch it was only a matter of time before we turned over the ball and nicked a goal. This is exactly what Sam Hankin did, he rolled in the ball at the edge of the box and placed the ball in the far corner to give us the lead. The game then settled down but we never really looked troubled. GK Zak Warriner only having to make a few routine saves. Half time then came and I asked for more of the same. In the 2nd half we continued to play some lovely football creating chances and if it wasn’t for their keeper, it would have been 3 or more. Into the last 15 mins we were getting tired after only playing 2 days before then, our fighting spirit kept the opposition out and the game finished 1-0. That was it, the 1st win and our season was finally up and running. We know that if we remember to be together as a team, concentrate, work hard, feel confident with the quality we have in the young talented group and the attractive football we play, there is no reason why we can’t achieve something good this year and be up in the mix for the top few places, and as a group that’s what we want to do. MIDWEEK FLOODLIT UNDER 18 UPDATE From when the squad was decided in summer the lads have been working really hard, harder than we expected, showing us the quality they have. They've already formed some really good partnerships, and are still working each other out, which is to be expected only playing a few games! So far we've had two league games, the first being a home win against a strong Allexton & New Parks side which was a test but our lads came out on top deservedly. The second was against Coalville Town, which we lost. We don’t want to dwell on how many goals we have conceded, we want to concentrate on where we are at. We have many games to go and we want to win as many games as we can. Do we want to improve in terms of how we play football? Of course we want to improve. This will be down to the effort that is put on the training ground at the end of the day. That is part of the process but now let’s be very positive about the games that are in front of us with the next being an away fixture against Gresley Rovers Conrad Corrolan Manager of Midweek Floodlit Under 18 Team

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club was founded in 1948 and play their home matches at the NFU Sports Ground, Lower Packington Road, Ashby de la Zouch in Leicestershire. This is the clubs new home from the beginning of the 2012/2013 season. Since being founded in 1948 up until the end of the 2011/2012 season the clubs previous home was at Hood Park also in Ashby de la Zouch. The club currently consists of Two adult teams and Twelve sides in the Junior section. The first team play in the Midland Football League Division One, with the Knights in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division. In the 2008/2009 season the club formed a Youth Team (Under 18’s) side who play in the Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League on Wednesday nights. A Sunday team was re-introduced for this season and they play in the Burton Sunday League Division Four. The club’s junior sides ranging from Under 7’s through to Under 18’s play in the Burton Junior Football League and the Tamworth Junior Football Leagues. The junior section came after the club merged with the David Hunt Soccer School at the beginning of the 2009/2010 season. In February 2004, Ashby Ivanhoe became an FA Charter Standard football club. The club is very ambitious and has plans to progress further up the league pyramid system. The club is run by an experienced management team and enjoys the support of some very prestigious commercial partners. Ashby Ivanhoe had one of their most successful seasons in 2010/11 as they completed a league and cup double by winning the Leicestershire Senior League by nine points and also lifted the Coalville Charity Cup for the very first time after producing a superb second half comeback to beat Bardon Hill 3-2 in the final. They have also reached successive Leicestershire Senior Cup finals in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 but had to settle for runners-up on both occasions losing 3-1, firstly to Ibstock United and then Aylestone Park. The 2013/2014 season saw the first team achieve a long-term ambition as they won promotion into the Step 6 of the Pyramid system playing in the East Midlands Counties League for the 2014/2015 season after finishing third place in the Leicestershire Senior League. It was a close title race with the top three all finishing level on points with Ashby third on goal difference. The Reserves were also promoted to the Leicestershire Senior League Division One. 2014/2015 saw Ashby compete at Step 6 for the first time and they had a very good season and secured a top six finish in the East Midlands Counties League which featured victories against all of the sides above them. The Reserve side were involved in a tight title race and it went down to a last day decider against Lutterworth Athletic Reserves but despite the result going against them on the day they were still promoted for the second season in succession and will play at Step 7 in the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division for 2015/2016. 2015/2016 saw Ashby have another fine season and they mounted a strong title challenge and they led the East Midlands Counties League for the majority of the season before finally finishing in third place. That saw them assured of a first ever appearance in the FA Cup for the 2016/2017 season where the aim again will be to push for promotion to Step 5. The 2016-17 season was the most memorable in the history of Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club. For the very first time in the clubs history they were accepted to play in the most famous club competition in the world, The FA Cup. It turned into a thrilling journey with higher ranked opponents of Quorn and vs Heath Hayes | Saturday 26th September 2020 | www.ashbyivanhoefc.co.uk

ASHBY IVANHOE FC CLUB HISTORY Loughborough Dynamo knocked out before Ashby fell to Ilkeston in the 1st Qualifying Round. Prior to the Ilkeston defeat Ashby received a visit from the FA Cup which was paraded through the town centre visiting local sponsors before players and spectators had the opportunity to view the cup at the NFU Sports Ground. The league season was inconsistent with a strong finish to the season seeing the team finish in tenth place. The season did end with a first appearance in the final of the Jenkins & Jenkins League Cup but Dunkirk overturned a one goal deficit late on to see Ashby end as runners-up. The 2017-18 season saw the 1st team finish Seventeenth in the East midland Counties and the Reserves finished in the bottom Two and relegation to Division One. 2018-19 saw the 1st team finish in the bottom half of the East Midlands Counties Football League and The Reserves now called the Knights finish runners up in the Senior League Division One and promoted back to step 7 in the Senior League Premier Division. In the 2019-20 season Ashby first team faced a fresh challenge when they were moved to the Midland Premier League Division one by the FA in a shake up of the NLS, the season as we all know was expunged due to the pandemic. The Reserves league also had all results expunged. As a club we are now looking to but our ground and have since the end of the previous season become a CIC club.
