A-C CENTRAL PRESENTS PHOBIA FACTORY Can you tell the difference between shrieks of laughter and screams of fright? Phobia Factory reminds audiences of Total Recall and Inception and gives them plenty of slaphappy, action-packed opportunities to experience both! Four students (Carrie Allen, Cerys Boston, Alexis Brewers, Ryan Woodard) visit the “Phobia Factory” at the local mall where they meet computer geek Al Armer (Ty Kesselring), quirky Dr. Kildare (Parrish Smith), and sweet Nurse Tartle (Allyson Quick). Using a virtual reality system called the “Cortex,” the teens have a chance to face their fears in a supposedly safe environment…until something goes hysterically wrong with the program! Virtual characters include Arachnia (Molly Betters), Creepy Crawly Worms (Cheyenne Barrett, Kayla Moffitt, Kyle Winkelman), Fashion Police (Alex Brue), Hungry Crows (Hailey Allan, Kylee Fields, Sabrena Reek), Lone Stranger (Austin Fields), Mommie Dearest (Cadence Smith), Santa Claustrophobia (Hoaby Hoagland), Scary Clowns (Jackson Allen, Sidney Donnan), Xenophobia (Tiffani Homer), and Virtual Counterparts (Quinn Allen, Kristin Irlam, Hannah Miller, Lauren Pinney, McKenzie Stephens). Come support Amanda Hoffman and her hard-working actors and crew members as A-C Central High School proudly presents Phobia Factory. Performances are Friday, November 16 and Saturday, November 17 at 7:00pm. Tickets are $3 for students and $5 for adults.

Election packets are now available at the Municipal Building for those wishing to run for local office during the April 9, 2013 election. Petitions can be circulated from September 25, 2012 until December 24, 2012. Those up for election are 3 Trustee positions and the Village President/Mayor. Recently, there have been reports of items taken from unlocked vehicles. Please keep your vehicle doors locked, even when parked at your residence. If you have any information regarding such activities or believe you have been a victim, please call (217/476-3317). There are a lot of products (household cleaning wipes, personal hygiene and paper towels) on the market that are labeled “flushable” but most are not “degradable” and end up tangled in our sewer pumps. Unlike toilet paper, some contain plastic and other materials that don’t dissolve quickly in water. We are asking residents to only flush biologic waste and toilet paper. Additionally, we have noticed more grease in the waste water. Please refrain from washing grease down your sink drains as it forms “grease balls” as it rolls down the pipes and plugs the sewer grates. Your help in these matters would be greatly appreciated. If you are in possession of a stray dog, please call the county sheriff’s office (217/452-7718) and ask them to contact Jim Birdsell. If you see a street light out, call the Village office (217/476-3317) and we will contact Ameren CIPS for repair.

“ The Winding Road”
Simply “Alneta”
If you’re carrying the burden Of daily stress and strain And everything that you attempt Seems to be in vain. Life’s problems are so heavy You feel you must unload Then all your symptoms indicate You’re on The Winding Road. The Winding Road is treacherous There’s some that don’t survive It least to a downhill plunge So be careful how you drive. Around each curve, uncertainty Lies hidden from the view You’ll be faced with circumstance Without a single clue. If you are on The Winding Road You can exit just ahead Get over in the Right Lane Take a smother path instead. The Straightened Path is secure And you'll be safe and sound Footsteps are established there And you are certain where you’re bound. I once took The Winding Road And it brought me so much pain My life became unraveled Cause I went against the grain. But I cam to an off ramp From there I ceased to roam I got upon The Straightened Path, And thus, it led me home. © 1993
