AN AGE LESS
OCIETY
Gone are the days of being too old, where living longer healthier lives and this new ageless society isn't about to pass up on any opportunities to them. Future Laboratory of LSN Global stated Forget everything you thought about being old, or age, even. In the society of the future, age isn’t just a number – it’s flat. This Ageless Society were entering promotes the ability to lead a fulfilled life that isn't inhibited by the fear of being too old. Rather than suppressing the ageing process, we embrace it with youthful rigour. Times are changing, the last thing thats holding us back is our age, were ageless. Once upon a time, we were surrounded by brands desperately trying to snag a piece of the youth generation pie. We were encircled by messages telling us we must do everything we can to retain our youth, but why? Michelle Feeney, Former CEO, PZ Cussons Beauty says, Being 50 now is the new teenager. I can speak for myself, my 50-year-old self that that most of my friends and people who have lived through this most incredible time, we've had punk, we've had new romantics, we've had a revolution in fashion and travel and energy and the internet’s come in all at this time, access to information. We are bright and spirited, knowledgeable and brands in the beauty industry just aren't recognising that at all. We know were worth it, we don't need to be told that. What we need is beauty and cosmetics to embrace us. Embrace us for who we are, what we are, and we haven't got problems with our skin, that is a functionality of being your age and what your body is physically going through. I think it's the language, which is kind of wrong, we need to embrace a new language to speak to very energetic, very focused, very accomplished, very cool 50-year-olds. Our views on ageing in relation to social divisions are dated, and slowly people are coming to the realisation that age really is but a number. Those that don’t will sure enough be left behind.

THE IMPORTANCE OF DIET FOR ACHIEVING GOOD HEALTH
WELLNESS
Diet plays an important part of maintaining good health and making you feel at your best. This is best achieved by eating a healthy, balanced diet which th following article aims to further discuss. The ‘eatwell plate’, as pictured below, is a guide on how to achieve a healthy a balanced diet, based on the government recommendations.
Written by Natalie Fisher (Registered Dietitian)
As well as a good nutritional intake, fluid intake is also important for achieving good health, and vital for ensuring your body is kept hydrated, which helps to prevent feelings of tiredness, headaches and ensure you are feeling at your best. The amount of fluid you require will depend on a variety of things such as the weather and how much physical exercise you do. However, the general recommendations are around 6-10 glasses a day, which equates to roughly 1.52 litres. In summary, to achieve a healthy diet, balance is the key to getting it right. This means choosing a variety of foods to consume in the right proportions, and consuming the right amount of food and drink to achieve and maintain a healthy body weight. People often feel the need to take a nutritional supplement to ensure they are getting the recommended daily amounts. However, by eating a varied balanced diet, most people are The section featured in pink highlights food sources of protein. Protein is essential for the body to grow and repair itself. Good able to get all the vitamins and minerals they need, and sources of protein include milk and dairy foods such as cheese therefore do not require a vitamin or mineral supplement. To begin, a third of what we eat each day should be made up of fruit and vegetables, as these provide a vital source of vitamins and minerals. It's advised that we eat a minimum of five portions of a variety of fruit and vegetables every day, as evidence shows that people who eat at least five portions a day have a lower risk of heart disease, stroke and some cancers. These include dried, fresh, frozen or tinned, with a portion size of fruit aiming to be roughly the size of your palm, and 3 tablespoons as a portion of vegetables. Starchy foods should also make up just over one third of everything we eat. This means we should base our meals on these foods and try to have some at every meal. Wholegrain or wholemeal varieties of starchy foods, such as brown rice, wholewheat pasta and brown, bread are preferred, as they have a higher fibre content which is required for a healthy digestive system. Wholegrain varieties also tend to contain more vitamins and minerals than white varieties.
and yoghurt, which are also good sources of calcium, which helps to keep your bones healthy. As part of a healthy diet, using lower-fat varieties is preferred. Beans, pulses, fish, eggs, meat, nuts and seeds are also good sources of protein and a range of vitamins and minerals. As part of a healthy diet, eating lean cuts of meat and removing the skin from poultry will reduce the intake of fat in the diet. Oily fish is particularly rich in omega-3 fatty acids which help to reduce the risk factor for heart disease, including high cholesterol and high blood pressure.. Aim for at least two portions of fish a week, including one portion of oily fish. You can choose from fresh, frozen or canned, but remember that canned and smoked fish can often be high in salt. Although nuts are a good source of protein, high in fibre, and a good source of healthy (unsaturated) fats, it must be remembered that they do still contain high levels of fat, so must be eaten in moderation. The recommended UK maximum intake of salt is only 6g per day. With 1 teaspoon equally roughly 5g, it’s not surprising that the general UK populations salt intake exceeds this 6g,, as salt is not only commonly sprinkled onto foods and used in cooking, but hidden in a variety of foods such as cheese, nuts, crisps and stock cubes. By removing salt from the table, cutting down on salt used in cooking, and using alternative herbs and spices for flavouring, a reduction in the risk of developing a high blood pressure and therefore future health complications such as heart disease can be achieved.

TRIPS YOU MUST TAKE THIS SUMMER Written by Stephen Asbury (Entrepreneur&

PORTHMADOG
There was nothing marking the place where the Glaslyn Estuary meets the Irish Sea until 1811, when a stone breakwater known as The Cob was completed. The breakwater created a crossing over which a railway could be laid by 1836 to bring slate from Blaenau Ffestiniog to the coast, where it was exported around all the world. This new slate port was named Port Madoc, after Maddock whom had designed, built and paid for The Cob. It was renamed Porthmadog, its Welsh name, some years later as nationalism took hold. Today, Porthmadog is a lively market town with a winter population of 5000 which balloons to 25,000 in the summer months as holiday-makers fill the town. The old slate railway is now a tourist railway (see photograph) carrying hundreds of passengers up to Blaenau every day, where some ride the 90mph zip-line over the old quarry; Griff Rhys Jones was a celebrity rider in 2015. A second steam railway arrived in Porthmadog in 2011, when a new line which had been started years earlier in Caernarvon (where Welsh Kings are crowned) arrived in the town. Porthmadog's oldest sight is England and Wales' highest mountain, Snowdon, at 1088 metres. Fit walkers can get up and back down on foot in a day - but an old rack-and-pinion railway allows the less-strenuous some relief either one way or the other. All-in-all, Portmadog is a wonderful town, and worth a visit. If you live in an older house, you probably have its tiles on your roof.
BARCELONA Formula 1 motorsport has been around since 1950, and has produced 10 British world champions in its 66 seasons, most-recently Lewis Hamilton, who is already a three-times champion. It's driver legends are common language - Senna, Schumacher and Fangio.

THE
USA
Lots of people have dreamed of travel and exploration - Christopher Columbus, Neil Armstrong, even Michael Palin. I'm Stephen, and I dream of great expeditions too. I've been to Antarctica, to see tigers in India, and chugged across Australia by slow-train. My latest dream is to visit all 50 US states, and the best way to do that in my opinion is by road trip. Last spring (May 2015), my wife and I completed a nine-day circular road trip from/returning to Chicago, Illinois. The main purpose of our 1000 mile trip was to visit the 99th running of the famous "Indy 500" motor race in Indianapolis, Indiana. After dinner with US friends on arrival, we departed Chicago for Springfield on Route 66. Springfield is famous as the former home of assassinated US president Lincoln. His former home, and an amazing museum are easy reasons to call here. The next leg was to continue on '66' to St Louis, Missouri. Not such a pretty city, but it's iconic arch is worth a look. Next, we headed west to Louisville, Kentucky; home of the Derby horse race, and the 'Slugger' baseball bat. And Kentucky bourbon whisky. The city is lovely, and we visited it's Mega Cavern the next morning. I can only tell you it is huge! There were plans to relocate much of the city into it during the Cold War years!
Our next call was Cincinnati, Ohio. Another lovely downtown, with the NFL Bengals Paul Brown stadium a huge centrepiece in the riverside downtown area. If you like American football, this is well worth a visit. And so finally we headed for Indianapolis. Over three days, we explored the city, visited the Indy 500 museum, and watched our favourite driver Juan Pablo Montoya race from last to first to win the 200 lap/500 mile race. Nothing I can write here can prepare you for the spectacle of this legendary event. Over 400,000 fans, an introduction to the National Anthem from the International Space Station, and 33 thundering race cars in eleven rows of three at 220mph on the banked circuit. Do go if you ever get the chance. The day after the race, we arrived back in Chicago. Five states in nine days took our total to 24 states visited so far. We're already planning our next road trip... 50 here we come!

ART HOME
Alexa Meade is a Los Angeles-based artist who is known for her portraits painted on the human body, making people into seemingly 2-D works of art. She takes the classical concept trompe l’oeil, the art of turning 2D into 3D and turns this on its head. Her living models effectively become flat images. What I find even more interesting is she highlights the fact that no photoshop is used. The paint is what enhances the beauty of these images. Alexa started this art form by paining onto shadows, only until the light changed, was her creation revealed. From there Alexa played with greyscale and mapping, ultimately creating these stunning pieces. On one of her projects she teamed up with Sheila Vant (pictured) and paints on Sheilas body whilst she is immersed in a pool of milk. This resulted in completely unexpected effect. Alexa creates really beautiful and powerful images whilst teaching you to look beyond whats already brought to light, recognising that theres more than what meets the eye.
