DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMS: JOB DESCRIPT IO N BACKGROUND Asian Community Development Corporation (ACDC)is a 24 year old community based non-profit organization that develops affordable housing, promotes economic development, and builds capacity through education, advocacy, and action. Established in May 1987, ACDCworks to realize a common vision of vibrant, healthy and just neighborhoods. The organization has developed over $100 million of mixed-income housing in Boston’s Chinatown and operates a portfolio of complementary community development programs. ACDCrequires the expertise of a manager who can support the organization’s growth. The organization seeks a Director of Programs who can work with the Executive Director to strengthen the programs and help shape the strategic direction of the organization. We are seeking a skilled manager who can help build on our past successes,work with the leadership to articulate a vision for the future, and help position the organization to take advantage of opportunities that will enable us to reach the vision. R OLES AND R ESPONSIBI LI T I ES The Director of Programs is a key position that will enable ACDCto manage and further develop its programs and to secure the resources needed to effectively operate programs that are needed by the community. The primary areas of responsibilities are to (1) work with the Executive Director on agency-wide program design, development, and management; (2) manage the Comprehensive Housing Opportunities Program (CHOP),including supervising the CHOPcounselor and conducting resource development for the program, and (3) structure and manage the A-VOYCEyouth leadership development program, which will include maintaining what currently exists and exploring how to expand the program or better incorporating it into larger Community Outreach/Planning initiatives. The Director of Programs will be expected to lead and manage resource development efforts for his/her programs. D UTIES

1. ACDC program design, management, and development • Work with the Executive Director to articulate a vision for the overall program framework of ACDC • Recommend strategies for weaving together existing and potential new programs into a cohesive whole and for systems to effectively carry out programs • Lead efforts to raise funds for existing and new programs through grant writing and/or individual donor solicitation • Identify neighborhood wide initiatives and partnerships ACDCmay enter into to increase the efficiency and impact of our programs • Staff committees and working groups, and assist in external relations with funders, partners, collaborators and colleagues • Work with Community Organizer on strategies to increase engagement of residents in ACDCdeveloped properties in Chinatown and residents of Quincy and Malden in our programs 2. Comprehensive Housing Opportunities Program • Work with the CHOPCounselor to assesssteps needed to strengthen outreach and recruitment for CHOPservices

Manage CHOPoperations and systems, including HUD and grant compliance Recommend and implement strategies for aligning CHOPwith other ACDCgoals and programs Explore options and strategies for continued program development, including expansion of financial literacy education and asset building Supervise the CHOPCounselor Develop and oversee budget and financial resources of the program, ensuring compliance with grant and reporting requirements Research and submit grant requests to support CHOP Assist in taking on direct one-on-one housing counseling cases,or facilitating housing and financial education workshops as necessary
3. A-VOYCE Program • Support interns or others needed to maintain current youth activities • Assessstrategies that will help to expand youth programming and recommend strategies to align youth activities with ACDCgoals and programs • Establish methods to engageyouth participants in other roles beyond their first encounter with ACDC • Research and submit grant requests to support youth activities and programs
QUALIF ICAT IONS: • Bachelor’s degree • Excellent interpersonal skills and successful past experiences in management and supervision • Excellent strategic thinker and planning skills • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Self-starter with excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks • Proven ability to work independently, be flexible, and participate as a team player • Acute attention to detail, and commitment to excellence and high standards • Experience working with immigrant, low-income, and/or limited English-proficient populations preferred • Bilingual in Cantonese, Mandarin and/or other Asian languagespreferred • Experience with housing counseling, real estate, banking and/or financial literacy helpful • Experience in direct service and/or casemanagement helpful, especially with immigrant populations and/or youth • Commitment to ACDC’smission • Some nights and weekends may be required The Director of Programs will be supervised by the Executive Director.
