“Our club has met its goals in regards to member count. However, we were not able to have a meeting in November and December and we were only able to accomplish one event in the period before winter break. Also, we could not start our education program implementation due to schedule conflicts. However, this semester, we seniors have more time and we are willing to make this last semester of our high school year amazing for the future generations of Team HBV. Our future plans include leadership nights, movie nights with games and education HBV presentations, HBAW, the IOP, and the education implementation program. We will need to improve on activities, but we have that planned out!” –Michelle Kwon

Pumpkin Decorating Event Location: Mr. Takacs’s room Time/Date:11/10/11 Description: For this event, we bought approximately 60 pumpkins to decorate and attach HBV facts onto so that we could deliver it to all the teachers within our school. In doing so, the teachers and the student body will be able to learn more about hepatitis B and the name of our club will continue to spread. One of the significant things that happened because of this event that was witnessed by one of our members was that two teachers were discussing the issues of HBV because of the pumpkins we had delivered to their classrooms; Approximately 25 people attended.
Ice Skating Fundraiser Location: Orange County Ice Palace Time/Date:1/27/12 Description: We are teaming up with CASC (California Association of Student Councils) for a second year to hold an ice skating fundraiser at Orange County Ice Palace on January 27th from 7:309:15PM. We will be receiving 50% of all profits from this night. Last year, we raised almost $400. Community partners include CASC Club at Canyon High School.

“We [set] up an information section at a local health fair and [persuaded] people to get Hep B vaccines at the screening section right next to us. We planned to set up our own screening event but the Galveston clinic ran into some difficulties. This coming semester, we're hoping to do more like going to some of the local chinese/vietnamese schools and giving a talk. We also want to try the texting campaign like last year, but hopefully more efficiently and with fewer issues.” –Ellen Hoang

“Our club has met most of its goals for the semester, one of which was to gain more members and hold at least 4 events. Future plans include attempting to spread more awareness to local communities as opposed to just in our school campus and active participation in the Goodbye Mark campaign currently being organized by the National Team HBV High School Advisory Board. In order to achieve these goals and to improve the quality of our club, we will motivate our members through club-only events and encourage them to attend more events that directly impact local communities.” –Colin Man

Pearl Milk Tea Sale, #1 Location: Dougherty Valley High School Quad Time/Date: 10/14/2011 Description of event: Our school sold milk tea after school and reached almost all the students at our high school, educating them about hepatitis B facts as they were waiting in line and buying milk tea; This also helped us raise funds for future events.
Halloween Glow Stick Outreach Location: Local community Time/Date:10/30/11 Description of event: We had our members pass out glowsticks and hepatitis B brochures along with candy and treats on Halloween. We reached a lot of the Asian community, as many of the students at our school live in neighborhoods heavily populated by Asian and Pacific Islanders.
Pearl Milk Tea Sale, #2 Location: Dougherty Valley High School Quad Time/Date:12/2/2011 after school Description: This was our first joint milk tea sale with Amnesty International. Because Amnesty is a fairly large club, this sale helped Team HBV's publicity as well as aided the education of students about hepatitis B. The popularity of this drink also increased the hype of our club.

Winter Concert Outreach Location: Dougherty Valley High School Theater Time/Date:12/6/2011 – 12/8/2011 Description:
In order to spread awareness to the parents of the students at Dougherty Valley High School, we obtained permission to pass out brochures and educate the people who attended the Winter Concert that our music department was organizing. Well over 200 people attended the event and our members educated a large majority of them.
Education Booth at Ulfert’s Center Location: Ulfert’s Center, Dublin Time/Date:12/17/2011 Description:
Our club organized an education booth in the local Ulfert's Center where there are many people of Asian descent, especially around lunchtime. Using a spinning wheel to attract people, club members educated many people about hepatitis B and encouraged both screenings and vaccinations for the deadly disease.

“Our club just started October of 2011 and our main goal was to gain a solid amount of members. There are currently 15 official members and we are continuing to recruit more people every meeting. There are various events that we can attend and spread awareness at in the Fresno community; presentation at school/church, Chinese parade, New Year Program, Dinner, Asian Fest at Fresno City College, CCBA Tai-Chi class etc. I hope that we can be much more active this next semester since we have a good amount of members not. -
Macye Pau
Hmong New Year Outreach Location: Fresno Time/Date: 12/29/2011 Description: We wore HBV shirts and some of us had a sign that was pinned on to our backs with HBV facts both in english and in Hmong. We walked around and got the feel of the event, we may have our own booth in a future year, and handed out a few brochures. We gave brochures to mostly people our age.

“Being a club with members [who are] relatively inexperienced I feel like our club has accomplished much. We fell short of hosting an event during the fall semester but we are going to adjust and improve during our spring semester. Our plans for spring semester are simple. Spread awareness of Hepatitis B throughout our community. We hope to host collaborate with other Jade Ribbons on community events. One major goal we want to achieve is to have more members. We hope our club can grow into one of the biggest club at Gunn High School. –Victor Liu

Our club has met its goals. The future plans are to plan a HBV vaccination event under the consultation of DC clinics. We should probably improve on having more regular meetings and planning more events.
Letters to Liver Patients Write-a-thon Location: INOVA Alexandria Hospitals Time/Date: 10/11/2011 Description: We wrote letters expressing our concern to patients in hospitalized by liver cancer. We reached 60 high school students.

Our main goal for this club will be to reach out to at least 50 Asian families at Leland before the year ends. We want to reach out to Almaden's Asian community by informing them about HBV and influencing them to get tested for it! So far, we have no yet met our goal for the year, however, we plan to attend more events/plan more events in order to reach this goal! We hope to plan events such as: Team HBV "spirit days" at school, posting up posters/flyers with info about HBV around Almaden, getting involved with Team HBV events occurring this semester, having bake sales, and possibly car washes as well! We hope to improve the club by gaining more members and expanding Leland's Team HBV! -Sophia Chao
14
Yes, the club has met its goals to raise sufficient funds to pay for future events. We are currently planning an "Amazing Race," which will take place next month. The race will be happening around our school's neighborhood. One thing the club can improve on is planning schedules for every club meeting rather than improvising - causing the meeting to be unproductive. Also, we need to enforce a stricter policy for getting to club meetings on time. -Tammy Ho
Jade Ribbon Campaign in the Web Location: Internet Time/Date: ongoing Description: Through our facebook outreach group and webpage, we reached over 50 high school students.
15
Quickly’s Fundraising Event Location: Lowell High School Time/Date: 11/4/11 Description: Since we just started the club this year, we didn't have any funding, so the club decided to sell Quickly's to raise money for future events. Because Quickly's milk tea is a popular drink, our sale attracted a lot of attention. Many of the club members' friends asked about the purpose of the club, which helped spread awareness of hepatitis B. We reached over 150 high school students and also partnered with student government.
16
Our club has met the goals for the semester. We plan on having an educational activity at the local middle school sometime early March and we are now planning on activities for Hepatitis B Awareness Week. We could improve on transportation. It is not easy for high school students to get from one place to another so we need to plan out our rides better. –Emily Dong
Hep B Free Screening Location: South San Francisco Time/Date:11/5/11 Description: Our club worked with Hep B Free San Mateo. Through this event, we reached over 200 community members and encouraged people to get screened for HBV. Mills High School Food Faire Outreach Location: Mills High School Time/Date:10/12/11 Description: We worked with Mills High School Leadership class and educated and reached over 50 high school students and faculty. We educated people about the dangers of hepatitis B by tying notes all around the campus and also to the food we sold.
18
We did meet some of our goals, one of which was to recruit more members and to educate them about Hepatitis B. We raised money to put into our bank account at school, so that we can fund future events. Our food sale was definitely a success, and we've begun to organize more volunteering events to keep our members active. Some points of improvements would be to advertise our club more at school and to get our local community involved. Our future goal is to have more events that will involve more of our members and to spread our message across campus. -Kewa Jiang
Teriyaki Stick Sales Location: Milpitas High School Time/Date: 11/8/11 Description:
Our school has school wide food sales every month or so and all of the clubs in the school are allowed to participate. Each club has its own table to sell a food of their choice to the student body. We bought teriyaki chicken sticks from King Eggroll and sold them $3 per stick. Measure of success (number of people involved, money raised or people impacted, etc.): The event was relatively successful for our first ever food sale, we
19
made $60. We were also able to get our names out there as a new club and interest potential members. Fortunately our food choice was good, as we sold out within 10 min, which helped attract people.
Paper Throwing Game Location: Milpitas High School club meeting room Time/Date: 10/12/11 Description: In order to help our members understand and learn more about hepatitis B, we came up with a few games to play. We handed out information sheets to all of our members the week before so they could look over it. Our first game involved throwing paper balls across the room, and whichever side had more paper balls at the end of a certain amount of time would have to answer at least one question about hepatitis B. Our president, Kewa Jiang, asked the questions. Measure of success (number of people involved, money raised or people impacted, etc.): It was successful, because most of our members participated and had fun.
Dart Game Location: Milpitas High School club meeting room Time/Date: 12/7/11 and 12/14/11 Description: Another one of our games that was used to help our members learn more about HBV was the dart game. We borrowed a dart board and put it up in the classroom. The members had to answer two questions in order to throw two darts. We kept track of who got the most points and at the end of the game, whoever had the most got a small prize (in both games it was candy). Measure of success: The event was successful and we got many of the members excited about the game. Everyone joined in and one member won the game.
Bingo Game Location: Milpitas High School club meeting room Time/Date: several times throughout the semester at lunch Description:
20
This is another game we played with our members. We made two bingo boards based off the fact sheet from the other two games. There were two bingo boards because one might have resulted in too many winners and there wasn’t a need to make too many. The game was basically the same as regular bingo. The president read several questions off of the fact sheet, and if a member had the answer to one of the questions on the bingo sheet, they would mark it or cover up the square with a penny or other such item. Whoever got bingo first, won candy. Measure of success: Most of the members seemed to like it, and we always got at least one winner each time.
Food Pantry Community Service Location: Milpitas food pantry Time/Date: 12/7/11 and 12/14/11 Description: This was our first community service event. We went to help out at our local food pantry, which provides food and clothing to families in need. Our city recently had the Jack Emery drive as well, and many cans had been collected and donated to the food pantry. Our job was to sort and pack these cans into boxes then label them and put them away. Measure of success: Though few members attended, the event provided for an excellent bonding experience.
Tet Festival Location: Tet Festival in San Jose Time/Date: 1/21/12 Description: We had several members volunteer at the Tet Festival through the Asian Liver Center. The volunteers helped work at the ALC booth; they passed out surveys, handed out Hepatitis B wristbands, supervised the games, helped decorate, and many other tasks. Measure of success: This was our first event with the ALC and we had several members volunteer. Unfortunately, not all our members were given spots of go, but those who were able to attend enjoyed it.

We will be presenting to student council sometime during March. Before our presentation, however, we will work to start events on school campus to raise more awareness about HBV, even without an official club status. On May 19th, we will participate in the Journey to Success Education Summit with Irvington High to reach out and educate the local community! Future plans: We have had many meetings throughout the fall semester concerning future plans and events for the rest of the school year. However, due to our school's traffic in the club founding process, we have not been able to carry them out yet. We are currently planning to start having some events now, even before we present to council. We have already registered for the Journey to Success Education Summit on May 19th, during which we will work with Irvington High School to raise awareness about HBV.

My club met our goals for the semester. We were able to set up a club and get members to come to meetings. In the future, I want to plan more meetings and attract more members.
Informational Club Meetings Location: Mission Viejo High School club meeting room In our meeting held on October 10, 2011, we discussed the goals and actions to be taken by our club and discussed possible motives to educate others. Around 20 students attended. At the meeting held on 12/15/11, I discussed the facts about HBV and why we need to educate others about the disease. Read facts and figures surrounding HBV.
“Out of Qinghai Location: Mission Viejo High School Date: 1/16/12 We showed the members of my club the documentary "Out of Qinghai." We reached approximately 30 students.
23
“Our club has met some of our goals for the semester. We hoped to conduct more outreach events, especially in our school and in our community. We also hoped to have more fun but educational activities to enhance member bonding. We reached our first goal of educating our peers about HBV. However, we should conduct more interactive activities in which members can participate actively in order to increase members' interests and participation. In the future, we plan to host some Team HBV retreats to increase team bonding and student's interest.”

Integration of HBV Knowledge in AP Biology Curriculum Location: Palo Alto High School Classroom Time/Date: December 2011 Community partners: all AP Biology students, around 100 students; biology teachers. Description:
In order to educate our community, we decided to start outreaching to our school's students with the help of biology teachers. First, we planned what specific HBV facts we wish the teachers to teach. Then we also added more details about the nature of the hep B virus. Finally we discussed with our school's biology teacher and the science department. They agreed to help support our cause and they will be teaching the students more about HBV during the virus unit. Our school's newspaper, Campanile, will also be featuring a news story on this new change in AP Biology's curriculum;

Spreading HBV awareness was one of the topics we discussed in the Asian Cultural Awareness Club. We managed to inform our members by having an educational presentation. However, as the Asian Cultural Awareness Club is not a formal Team HBV club, we have focused on our other cultural goals and did not expand on our HBV efforts. As a senior and a president about to leave, I will leave it up the upcoming board to see if they would like to continue spreading HBV awareness and suggest ideas to them. We gave a presentation titled "Uniting Against Hepatitis B" to members of the Asian Cultural Awareness Club at school, reaching approximately 50 students. -Hursong Vongsachang

Our goals were to strengthen our club from last year (basically to renew the chapter). Last year, the leaders of the LIVERight club did not do a good job in maintaining the hype of the club. Therefore, I wanted to at least get the club started for future years. So far, the club has been doing fairly well. We are starting again tomorrow with our first meeting, and we have a lot going for us. We are going to expand our outreach attempts beyond our school and go to community fairs outside of Saratoga. We are also going to host fundraisers to increase our budget for events that may require expenses and social bonding activities. Improvement points: we need to get people more involved. Because it's been hard to start the club up, as president, I have been doing most of the work. This semester, I am starting to let my club members take over, especially to sustain the club in future years. -Jimmy Zheng

Pearl Milk Tea Fundraiser Location: Saratoga High School Time/Date: 10/17/12 Community partners: Sogo Bakery Description: We hosted a Pearl Milk Tea Fundraiser at our school not only to increase our budget but also to spread the word about our club. This event was also a means to increase participation from within the club. We reached the students and faculty at our school
Holiday Boutique Location: Saratoga High School Time/Date: 12/10/11 Community partners: Saratoga High School’s administrative office Description: This is a local community fair held at my high school. The LIVERight Club at SHS asked for a booth in this fair and we surprisingly got the best possible spot. We both fund-raised and outreached to the people who came. We reached community members, elders, teens, basketball teams, soccer teams, friends, and parents.
