ULU CLIFFHOUSE, NEW BEACH CLUB IN ULUWATU BALI Ulu Cliffhouse, a new beach club concept curated by a community of creative talent, has announced its launch in Bali in August 2017. Commanding jaw-dropping panoramic views, the 4640-square-metre cliff top oasis will offer an unparalleled new beach club experience in Uluwatu – 35 metres above sea level. Redefining the traditional beach club offering, Ulu Cliffhouse will feature its very own recording studio, a curated gallery space and paying homage to its location, an in-house surfboard shaper. Ulu Cliffhouse has been created and developed by F&B entrepreneurs – Out & Out Hospitality whose operations span Singapore (Operation Dagger, Oxwell & Co) and Bali (KILN on Petitenget and the new Mandala House). Virtuoso Travel Week in Las Vegas
V
irtuoso Week is an annual event, nearing its 30th anniversary. It’s held in Las Vegas, mainly at the Bellagio, although in recent years, events have expanded to Vdara Resort and Spa and will be expanding to neighboring Aria as well. This year, more than 4,800 total attendees are expected. At the event’s core are interactions between travel advisors and travel providers (hotels, cruise lines, tour companies, and more). During these four-minute appointments – think of them as speeddating for the luxury travel industry – providers share what’s new, what’s hot, and what’s 20
perfect for the advisors’ clients. By the end of the week, an advisor will have met with as many as 2,000 different travel providers, collecting ideas for travel experiences to share with their clients. “A lot of the travel bookings we do during the year come from the relationships we make at Virtuoso Travel Week,” says Jupiter, Florida-based advisor Stacy Hart. Virtuoso Week’s goal is to foster connections and knowledge, which advisors can use to work with you to craft a better trip.
Events preceding VTW’s core networking focus on professional-development opportunities for travel advisors. This year, offerings include: • An active- and specialty-tour-operator expo for VAST-focused advisors • How to be a Virtuoso Life superstar by designing trips that would shine if profiled in the magazine • An expert panel on wellness travel • Understanding sustainable tourism • Destination-specialist training from various tourism boards • Client-relationship building • What millennial travelers want And that’s just a small sampling. These educational sessions, before Virtuoso Week’s official opening session on Sunday afternoon, train advisors to maximize themselves, their clients, and their connections to different types of travel. Some call Virtuoso Week “the Super Bowl of luxury travel” – David Hansen, Virtuoso’s senior vice president of meetings and events, calls it a “supernova” event – but regardless of how you define it, the aim of everyone involved is to make sure that your travel experiences, whenever and wherever they occur, are exactly what you want.

UVJF is an annual international jazz festival empowered by communities. It is financed through
sponsorship,

and
pitch-fees from traders, tickets, booth and merchandises. UVJF is entirely reliant on a very small group of volunteers, the event taking almost 1,000 volunteer man-hours to organize. It is their exceptionally hard work and dedication that brings Borough residents and visitors into the Town, boosting the local economy, creating an event that Ubud residents would say is one of the most enjoyable in the calendar. Beside good jazz beats from Indonesian talents, Jazz Market will also bring a cultural theme “CLOTHING THE NATION”. Jappy Sanger, the Co-Founder said: “This year we want to bring the Jazz Market goers to experience what is beyond our Indonesian heritage and culture through textiles and fabrics, with dimensions of the past and to this present day. The celebration of Independence Day is of great significance to the people and history of Indonesia. It is a huge event for the people of Indonesia marking the declaration of Indonesia as free nation from the foreign rule. It was the day that the Indonesian flag was unveiled. The flag is of great importance to the country and its citizens with its red color showing courage and white purity. The flag is flown with the greatest honor and utmost respect as a sign of patriotism and true nationalism. Independence Day is not only done on land but also on sea and in air to show that the land, sea and air of the Nation no longer belongs to the colonial rule but belongs to Indonesia and its citizens.

The word Togutil itself bears the meaning of “the tribe that lives in the jungle, or o fongana ma nyawa in the Tobelo language.Their lifestyle is very much dependent on the surroundings of the jungle. Sago is a staple diet. Their settlements are usually in groups of communities along river banks. There are about 42 households of Togutil communities that settled along the Dodag river, while about 500 live along the Akelamo river. Their houses are made of wood and bamboo with Pelem leaves (a type of Livistonia) as roofing. Generally their houses do not have walls or wooden flooring. The Togutils are categorized as a separate group of people living in the interiors of north and central Halmahera. The Togutil people use the same
