Leaders from Balinese communities along Jimbaran and Kuta Beach have asked that the apron project be built on suspension pilings in order to minimize the possibility of beach erosion north and south of the airport along Bali’s southwest shoreline.

In response, Yanus, said the decision to reclaim land instead of a suspension systems was made after reviewing a number of factors. The idea of installing pillars for a suspension pillars was eventually rejected because the use of pile drivers would require the airport to suspend flight operations for 12 hours per day during the construction period. By using a reclamation method of construction, the airport can continue to operate without interruptions by using tugboats to reclaim the necessary land.

Indonesia,
Indonesia’s
national flag carrier, is set to add 30 new routes for both domestic
and international flights, according to airline spokesman Ikhsan Rosan. “We will immediately open two flights to China – Denpasar-Zhengzhou and Denpasar-Xi’an,” Ikhsan said at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Sunday, as reported by tempo.co. While it was not revealed when the new routes would commence, the airline would fly them five times a week. Ikhsan stressed that China had the potential to contribute to the country’s tourism industry. About 120 million Chinese nationals travel abroad annually, he said, adding that one million Chinese tourists visited Indonesia last year. For domestic services, the airline would send more flights to eastern Indonesian and provide feeder services from small, satellite cities to large cities like Medan in North Sumatra and Makassar in South Sulawesi. 32

Ultimately, Lord Kala encountered a puppet shadow play. Since he was very hungry, he devoured the entire oblation of the show. The puppeteer begged all the edible offerings to be thrown back entirely. Lord Kala could not fulfill the request. Instead, he promised not to prey on people who were born on Tumpek Wayang, if they had organized a ceremony and staged the Wayang Sapuh Leger. Based on the mythology the people who were born on Tumpek Wayang should perform the selfpurificatory rite with the presentation of puppet shadow play staged under the title of Sapuh Leger.

coming February, the enchanting island of Lombok will celebrate the age-old tradition of Bau Nyale. The tradition is a one of a kind annual folk festival of the Sasak People, in which hordes of people flock to the sea to catch sea worms (Nyale). According to local legend, Nyale represents good fortune. This year’s festival will be held on February 28th, 2018 on three different location: Kuta Beach, Seger Beach, and Belanak Beach. The exact date for the festival is the result of a meeting among the elders of the Sasak tribe. In Lombok language, Bau is translated as “to-catch”, while Nyale is a name given to the sea worms that appear once a year along some of Lombok most beautiful beaches. 50

Pasola is the name of ancient war ritual war festival by two groups of selected Sumbanese men. They riding their colorful decorated selected horses fling wooden spears at each other. This traditional ceremony held in the way of uniquely and sympathetically traditional norms, every year. The festival occurs in Lamboya and Kodi. The main activity starts several days after the full moon and coincides with the yearly arrival to the shore of strange, and multihued sea worms – Nyale. The precise date of the event decided by Rato which is announced one or two weeks before the festival.
54
Pasola is derived from the word Sola or Hola meaning a kind of a long wooden stick used as a spear to fling each other by two opponent groups of horsemen. The horses use for this ritual are usually ridden by braves and skilled selected men wearing traditional customs. The people of Sumba believe that the ritual has a very close link to the habit of the people since it arranges the behavior and the habit of the people so that the balanced condition between the physical – material needs and the mental – spiritual needs can be easily created; or in other words the ritual is believed to be able to crystallize the habit and the opinion of the people so that they can live happily both in earth and in heaven. In addition to it, Pasola is also believed to have close relation to the activity in agriculture field, therefore any bloodshed (of sacrificial cattle or men participating in the game) is considered the symbol of prosperity that must exist. Without blood Pasola mean nothing to them. Those who died in the Pasola arena are believed to have broken law of tradition the fasting month. Pasola that always takes risks, however, is acceptable by the people in a very hospitable way and sportive. 55
