Summer Greetings ASID GA! Hopefully you are reading this on the beach or in some little village in Europe on your Summer Vacation. Lisa and I are looking forward to getting out of town soon for some rest and relaxation. Where has the time gone? I encourage you to think about what a wonderful year 2017 has been for our chapter. We have surpassed many milestones together! BOARD OF DIRECTORS

I hope you enjoyed the largest ASID Design Excellence Awards that the chapter has ever hosted! Early in May we came together to celebrate the best in Georgia Interior Design at the 37th Annual Design Excellence Awards at the Stave Room at American Spirit Works. I enjoyed a wonderful evening with 530 of you as we toasted our students, members, and industry partners! Congratulations to our design award winners! I am continually amazed by the amount and level of design excellence that flows through our Chapter. I am proud to represent such a talented group of professionals. I hope that you enjoyed the new venue and our Emcee, Chris Stulpin, National Design Director and SVP with Tarkett. Chris made the evening special with his humorous approach to life. Thank you, Chris, for taking time out of your busy schedule and joining us for the evening. I am glad that IIDA let us steal you for our event! ASID GA looks forward to seeing you again at Neocon and other national interior design events. Please come back and visit anytime - we’re typically warmer here than Cleveland, Ohio!

I trust that you all got to say hello to Randy Fiser, ASID CEO, and the ASID National Board. Thank you to Hansgrohe for hosting the national board and facilitating their attendance at the Gala. We shared what makes Georgia special with our National Leaders and Board. This is an honor that very few chapters can enjoy. Charisse Johnston, ASID National Chair, and the National ASID Board of Directors were very complimentary about the evening and the level of design that we shared with each of your wonderful projects. Congratulations to our very own Steve Clem, ASID, FAIA, as the 2017 ASID Designer of Distinction! It was an honor to host you and Susan at the Gala. We are humbled that this award, presented annually to only one nationwide member, was bestowed on such a good friend and mentor to the Georgia Design Community. You truly deserve this premier award for personal achievement and social consciousness in the interior design profession. Congratulations also to our chapter award winners: Chapter Media Partner, Laura Shine Lee, and Design Maverick Award Winner, Ryan Gravel! The two of you make our chapter unique and we are proud to celebrate your contributions to our industry and chapter. And, a special thank you to all our Sponsors. This year was a record breaking year with the amount of money raised and the number of sponsors that participated in the Gala this year. Without you we could not have produced such a standout event. Last, but not least, I must thank our planning committee for a such a wonderful job! Kathy, Joy, Ruthie, and Tony - you guys are the best! Please take care of Chris next year as well as you took care of me! I hope you enjoy a look back at our award winners from the Gala. I am sure you will agree that we have the most creative and talented designers anywhere practicing right here in Georgia. Thank you for raising the bar - every award highlighted on the following pages inspires the next generation for design excellence. I will see you soon at the Annual Meeting and Storytellers!
