With the arrival of the National Broadband Network (nbnTM), the existing copper based ISDN that provides telephone connections into most organisations will head into retirement. This means that many schools will need to move to new Session Initiated Protocol (SIP), the newer worldwide standard for voice communications. Your old phone system may not work with this new connection type. All copper lines will be disconnected soon after the nbnTM becomes available in your area, so migration to SIP is crucial for your organisation to avoid disconnection.
