By nature, man is curious to know about his unforeseen future. What is in store for his future? How will be the time for him in future? Will he ever be able to succeed in the task he has taken up? Which field should he choose in order to earn a lot of fame and fortune? These are some queries that always prick the human conscience. Numerology, since antiquity, had helped mankind to know the future events before hand.Numerology is a science of exploring hidden powers of numbers and their influence on human beings. Indians see numbers as symbols of certain types of cosmic powers. And they link them with spirituality. For example 0 is a number that encircles some part of the infinite universe. The inner part of it is separated from the vast outer space. This is similar to human body where the soul (Jeevaatma) resides. A human being always feels that he is separate and the outer universe is different from him. He confines his soul with his present body and thinks that he and the body is one and the same. Thus he has forgotten the truth that he is the all-pervading God. This is called cosmic delusion (Maaya). So 0 represents the cosmic delusion. This means 0 gives false impression that whatever is not there, is there. Let us add 0 after 1, then that 1 appears as 10. This means 1 is assuming a different form, because of 0. This is same as the super-soul appearing in different forms because of Maaya. Numerology is the study of the symbolism of numbers. It is used to determine a person’s personality, strengths and talents, obstacles, inner needs, emotional reactions and ways of dealing with others. Whether you use numerology to examine your life, take advantage of unexplored opportunities, confirm your talents or simply figure out where to go next, numerology can be a penetrating tool that helps you understand yourself and loved ones better. Indeed, science maintains that all of life can be reduced to a series of ones and zeros, and the entire universe can be deciphered by means of numerological formulae. Although the power of numbers, and their potential to reveal our deeper personality traits is remarkable...it's important to rely on our own discernment, when reading our own name numerology. In other words, be both a mystic and a scientist when consulting your name numerology. Recognize the magic in numbers while at the same time incorporate common sense in your interpretations. 1 – 9, which is also the span of our life cycles. These numbers under which we were born, plus the numbers in our names, are the tools we are given in order that we may accomplish our mission in life, and enable us to work through all our Karmic Lessons. The Vibratory Power of each number affects us in both Positive and Negative ways. The symbol meanings that surround the nine whole numbers are the centre of Numerological divination. Numbers integrate into many other divinity methods, such as the Tarot. Numbers can represent stages in the unfolding of any process, and can be keyed to planets, days, colours, qualities, character types and Tarot images. Numbers are also keyed to letters of the alphabet, so words and names can be analyzed. Numerology brings insight, wisdom and the ability to understand ourselves and others. Every number will have mental and spiritual plane represented by its top half part and the material worldly affairs are represented by its remaining bottom part. When we connect a series of points in a single direction, then it becomes 1. Thus 1 represents single-mindedness in achieving the objectives, creativity, and starting new ventures. Its pillored appearance represents independence and leadership qualities. 2 is round shaped at top. It is a open 0. That means there is no complete Maaya at mental level. There is a scope to receive and release new ideas and concepts. So 2 represents flexibility and diplomacy. The bottom of 2 shows a horizontal line that is attached firmly to ground. This means if these inventive ideas are properly used, the person can achieve highest success in material world. Take 3, it is having open rounded ends at its top as well as at bottom. This shows continuous receiving and releasing of new ideas and involving into new developments. It represents ambition, self-expression and idealism. This number makes a person to reap material benefits from his intelligence and spiritualism. Just close the rounded ends of 3, you will get 8. It represents Maaya at both the levels. The person is wrapped by complete ignorance of what is happening outside his perception. He cannot come out of the clutches of karmic forces. The balanced loops of 8 represents balanced nature, patience and discipline. Contemplate on 4, it is looking like a person sitting stable, attached to ground. material benefits. The person will become materialistic. 4 may also represent unconventional behaviour. 5 is a quiet different number, with flat head and open rounded bottom. Flatness represents stability. The person would reach a clear and stable mental state which he uses in receiving and processing the material in worldly projects. 5 is a sign of dynamism and communication. This number makes one a successful business man. 7 is having similarity with 5, in such a way it is having a flat head and weak base. 7 indicates high level of spiritualism and sensitivity. But the person will not use his mental and spiritual stability to achieve material means. 6 is a number that is fully rounded at the bottom. It looks like a pregnant lady. It symbolises pregnancy, artistic and feminine qualities. The 0 formation at bottom indicates Maaya that pushes the person in love with family- related matters and enjoyment. 9 is a number that is nothing but inverted 6. It represents love to the world. The 0 formation at top, overshadows a person’s intelligence with Maaya. The person cannot think but work. So there is a conflict. He would be quick in actions and courageous. While the numbers have the above significance, each number has been attached to a particular planet, the reason is certain planet produces the similar vibration of a certain number. Thus 1- Sun, 2- Moon, 3- Jupiter, 4- Uranus or Rahu, 5- Mercury, 6- Venus, 7- Neptune or Ketu, 8- Saturn, and 9Mars. Number 0 should not be attached to any planet, since it is the root cause of all the numbers. It increases the strength of a number. SWAMI VIVEKANANDA, a great saint of India, who shook the world by his philosophical teachings, was born on 12th January 1863. His Birth Number (Moolank) : 12 = 3. represent that he is ambitious, versatile and a spiritual guru. His ambitions are more focused on service to poor and downtrodden as is shown by 4 in his Birth Single Number. He had unconventional and revolutionary ideas in reforming the society. His Birth Compound Number 22 shows that he is highly religious and inclined in purification of mind and soul. Moreover, his Birth Single Number and Name Numbers 4 and 7 are harmonious, thus making him a renowned person. Let us take only VIVEKANANDA= 37 which clearly shows that he is a spiritual guru. Astrology is in fact both an art and a science. It has, in turn, many branches and sub-branches- each equal in importance and accuracy. All of them have independent existence. Numerology or the astrology based on number system is one such branch of astrology. Numerology is an ancient Indian discipline, Not only the Number Zero, the whole Numeric system was given by Bharat i.e India . It is written on the pyramids of Egypt that the Egyptians had got the knowledge of Numerology from The Aryans of Bharat. In Ancient Egypt, numbers did not simply designate quantities but instead were considered to be concrete definitions of energetic formative principles of nature. Astrologers believe that each number from 0 to 9 is ruled by a celestial body in our solar system. Numerology is an Ancient Indian science the predictions based on which have always proved cent-percent accurate. Use of Numerology particularly has grown in leaps and bounds for just one reason: in the predictions made with the help of Numerology, only the date, month and the year of one’s birth are all that is required. Precise knowledge of the time of birth and place are not required at all. Thus, all those people who don’t know the precise time of their birth can also learn important facts about their lives. Use of numbers is seen virtually in all walks of life. Two eyes, three tenses, three deities, three worlds, tenth worlds, tenth date, eighth month, one pair or two shoes are a few examples where we can see significant use of numbers. The science of making predictions on the basis of the numbers therefore is known as Numerology.

In Numerology, certain number has been fixed for each of the nine planets. In other words, each of the nine planets have been assigned a particular number. Some experts, however, do not allot Rahu and Ketu, any position in Numerology. Instead, they assign two numbers- one positive and one negative to the sun and the moon. Dr. Manoj Kumar is a Post Graduate in two subjects (History & Public Administration) and Ph.D. After the completion of his academic career, he devoted his time and energy to the study & research of Astrology, Numerology, Palmistry, VaastuFengshui, Past life Regression & other occult sciences as well as in deep Sadhana. He completed his Jyotish Alankar (Silver Medalist) and then Jyotish Acharya from Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan under the guidance of Shri K.N. Rao, the world’s most renowned Astrologer. Thereafter, he joined the research group of Shri K.N. Rao and commendably completed his research on several topics with excellent results. Chapter - 1

Introduction

The word Numerology comes from the Latin word “Numerus,” which means number, and the Greek word “Logos,” which means word, thought, and expression. Numerology, based upon the sacred science of numbers, is an advanced offshoot of the melodious rhythm of the mathematical precision that controls all creation. It in•uences every aspect of our life unconsciously or consciously whether we are aware of this or not. Numerology is the science and philosophy of numbers (1 to 9) where each number has its own strength, potential and challenge. Numbers have two aspects viz; exoteric or external and esoteric or inner. In a nut shell, every number possesses its own unique quality and power. Our ancient seers believed that numbers symbolize divinity and however our mathematicians believed that study of numbers can possibly reveal the principles of creation and laws of time & space. Numbers can be seen as fundamental in art, poetry, architecture, music, and so on. The history of numbers is as old as the recorded history of man. Numerology was in use in ancient Greece, Rome, Egypt, China and India and is to be found in the ancient books of wisdom, such as the Hebrew Kabala. Most commonly used system for Numerology were developed by the Chaldeans, the Hindus, the Mayans, the Hebrews (Kabala), the Chinese (Book of Changes), and the work of Pythagoras, to name a few. The basic intent behind these systems originally was to understand the relationship between man and his god. Pythagoras, the old master philosopher and mathematician, who lived in the sixth century BC, propounded the theory that nothing in the universe could exist without numbers. He established a Mystery School in Italy when he was 52 years old. He was born in Greece and lived between 582 and 507 BC, much of his life spent in study and travel. His Mystery School taught esoteric knowledge, which included the secret of number and vibration. The knowledge was passed down by word of mouth and a few manuscripts. The academic teaching rested on a foundation of Mathematics, Music and Astronomy. Much of Pythagoras’ background in Egyptian philosophy and religion was based upon Number and Kabalistic principle. He postulated that the triangle was particularly important, as it was the •rst complete shape, and constituted a blueprint. The art of Numerology has existed since the ancient discovery of mathematics. To this day, most cultures attach special meaning to certain numbers and their position in a sequence. As we have just seen, the Chinese I Ching describes the differences between even (earthly) and odd (heavenly) numbers. Numerology has also been used to correlate the signi•cance of numbers to an alphabet, giving each letter a numerical value. A well-known example is the Hebrew alphabet of twenty-two characters—the same as the number of trump cards in the Tarot deck. Because of the applicability of numbers to alphabets, numerologists are able to use words or names, in addition to numbers, to reveal divinatory meaning. There are three major forms of Numerology— Kabbalic, Chaldean and the Pythagorean. They can be used in any combination to produce a reading, but whatever system you prefer, I suggest using it consistently so as not to confuse yourself. The one you •nd that you are drawn to is good enough. Kabbalic Numerology—which is often used to interpret names—originally derived from Hebrew mysticism, is an outgrowth of the Hebrew alphabet with its twenty-two vibrations. Later it was adapted for the Greek alphabet, then the Roman alphabet. Thirteenth century Kabbalists believed that the Old Testament was written in a secret code inspired by God. They used Numerology as a tool to decipher this code. It also happens that twenty-two-base Numerology adds a signi•cant dimension to the interpretation of the twenty-two Trump cards of the Tarot deck. Chaldean Numerology has closer ties to Astrology, having originated in Mesopotamia, which was also the birthplace of Western Astrology. It is also related to the Vedic system of India, as well as the Kabbalah. number. In Chaldean Numerology, single digits reveal the outer nature of a person, while double digits describe inner qualities. The third and the most popular form of Numerology is the method developed by Pythagoras, the Greek mathematician and metaphysician of the 6th century B.C. Pythagoras is famous for his formulation of the Pythagorean theorem, which calculates the hypotenuse of a right triangle, a basic construct of modern geometry. According to legend, Pythagoras was the founder of Numerology and practiced it to de•ne the fates of individuals, predict the events of certain locations, and use name changing as a means to alter destiny. In the Pythagorean system, numbers were assigned to letters in the Greek alphabet based on their position in the sequence. Pythagorean Numerology generally uses both the name and the date of birth, and then examines the relationships between them, much like the Chaldean method. The basic vibrations are 1 through 9, and the master vibrations are 11 and 22, which are never reduced to a single digit. In the 1800s, when scienti•c discoveries regarding magnetism, light, and electricity were progressing rapidly, the idea that energy patterns of vibrations corresponded to numbers became popular. Randomness is a state in which there is no order or larger meaning. Such a state of affairs would mean that the Universe is ruled by chance events and that there are no orderly laws governing the Universe. In fact, we know this premise to be untrue since the natural sciences such as Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Astronomy are all based on the orderliness even predictability of natural law. Moreover, if the Universe were ruled by unpredictable events, there would be no sustainable structure to it. On the contrary, the Universe not only maintains form and structure, it also changes in precise and orderly ways. We are continuously witnessing to this process of change: Day turns into Night and night turns into day; winter is followed by spring and summer is followed by fall; and apples grow on apple trees and •gs grow on •g trees and they never get confused. Orderliness can be seen in every aspect of existence, from the sub atomic world to the world of stars and galaxies. The gestation and birth of a child are also examples of remarkable orderliness: It still takes egg and sperm to produce an ovum, and nine months for a child to fully develop and to be born. The growth pattern of human has remained essentially the same, too: we are born nascent and grow young and through adolescence, puberty, adulthood, maturity and old age at which point we die. The arc of life is consistent and stable. This has been happening for about 2 million years, the length of time humans have inhabited the planet. If we look up at the stars and see the planets, we see a further example of great orderliness. In creation, there is no randomness a fact that is the basics for all physical sciences. Numerology is based upon this underlying unity, a unity that manifests itself in a very intimate way in all of our lives. For example the word love with its special combination of vowels and consonants gives us a feeling of soothing and benign touch. To further illustrate, the Number 1 embodies masculinity, a strong drive, individuality and determination. The Number 1 could never be confused with the Number 2, which has the qualities of sensitivity, feminity, cooperation and gentleness. Each Number is the counterpart or the opposite of the number next to it. The personality of the Number 1 is the opposite of the 2. In a different but no less profound way the 2 is the opposite of the 3, the 3 is the opposite of the 4, the 4 is the opposite of the 5 and so on. The personality of each number is so clear and de•ned that once you get to know the numbers, you will be able to predict each number’s response to any given situation. the human DNA molecule is made up of four basic nucleic acids that are arranged in a complex and unique spiralling ladder, so too, do the nine cardinal numbers represent nine archetypal human qualities that are also present in each of us. These nine archetypes are arranged uniquely in us all to form a speci•c personality with unique strengths and weaknesses. These nine numbers not only symbolize nine speci•c archetypes but also nine stages of development that all of us pass through in order to complete our growth and maturity. The square shaped 4 is down to earth. It sits on the ground and it is a foundation and a rock of support for other numbers. It represents limitations (often self imposed) and discipline; it is never a dreamer. The 5 is the most dynamic of all numbers and the symbol seems to turn around its central point. because the earth is two-third water and one-third mass; so is the human body. If the Moon can cause chaos in something as big as the earth what it does to the human body becomes easily understandable. From the time immemorial all ancient civilizations—the Babylonians, the Hebrews, the Greeks, the Egyptians and the Indians—used Numerology somehow or the other. The Babylonians were pro•cient in Numerology and Assyrians also made major contributions. The Phoenicians learnt the basic concepts of the alphabet from the Hebrews and Egyptians and developed it to a degree of sophistication and added vowel sounds. The well known Palmist and Numerologist Cheiro has stated in his biography that during his earlier years, when travelling in the East and especially in India, it was his good fortune to come in contact with a certain sect of Brahmins who had kept in their hands from almost prehistoric times, studies and practices of an occult nature which they regarded as sacredly as they did their own religious teachings. that it was the Hindus who discovered what is known as the precession of the Equinoxes and in their calculation such an occurrence takes place every 25827 years, our modern science after labours of hundreds of years has simply proved them to be correct. The judgment of the Hindus together with that of the Chaldeans, as to the length of what is now known as the cycle of years of the planets, has been handed down to us from the most remote ages. Modern science has proved it to be correct. So when one comes to a study such as his, as to the value of the numbers 1 to 9 which, like the seven harmonies of music are the basis of all music that has ever been conceived, these above stated numbers are the basis of all our numbers and calculations, it is then only logical to accept the decisions of those great students of past ages and at least examine their deductions with a mind free from bias and prejudice. Apart from the question of mystical associations, the numbers themselves have a very ancient origin. We shall, however, never know the genius who actually invented the numbers. The subject of Numerology, had absorbed the interest of the most profound thinkers of by gone days. We come across references to •gures and numbers in the Vedas and in the Upanishads. The Chinese considered odd numbers as denoting white, day, the Sun, heat and •re. They believed that even numbers indicated dark, night, the moon, cold, water and earth. They incorporated into their culture the Phoenecian alphabets and its sounds and letters as well. Gematrica was the earliest from which revealed the hidden powers of numbers. Numerology. We remember him as a great Mathematician but very few know that he was a great Numerologist as well. About 580BC, he laid the foundation of a university at Crotona for the study of Numbers. Pythagoras travelled widely and studied the teachings of the Egyptians, Assyrians and Indians. He conceived that Mathematics, Music and Astronomy formed the triangle of all arts and sciences and were the basis of all knowledge. For Practical calculations he used Arithmetic and for spiritual he used Numerology. Pythagoras believed that there was nothing that could not be explained by Numbers. He, like the ancient Greek Philosophers believed that numbers possessed mysterious powers independent of their arithmetic signi•cance. Pythagorean Numerology formed the spiritual basis for many secret societies like Rosicrusians, the Masons and the Anthrosophists. THE CHALDEAN NUMEROLOGY SYSTEM Chaldean or “Mystic Numerology” is the older numerology of the two numerology systems. While Chaldean Numerology is considered more accurate, it’s less popular. The Chaldean Numerology method also differs in that it goes by the name you’re most known by. Our example lady is known as Anjna Agarwal to most people, and this is preferred under Chaldean Numerology analysis. As you see, her name under Chaldean Numerology adds up to a 3. After the name, the birth number the day of the month on which you were born is considered to be the next most important factor in Chaldean Numerology. In our case, Anjna was born on the 24th of the month. The birth day number affects the personality, health, and other factors in Chaldean Numerology that will be detailed in future chapters. The Chaldean Numerology approach is very ancient and accurate. Chaldean Numerology was developed by the Chaldeans long time ago, who once occupied the southern part of Babylonia. Because of their long and diligent study of the occult, the people of Chaldea became well known for their contributions to astronomy, mathematics, and other sciences, particularly Astrology and Numerology. All numbers, whether found under this system or the Pythagorean one, have basically the same meanings, symbols, nature, and character. This seems to be the universal rule of all number systems. However, under the Chaldean Numerology system, it isn’t enough to know what the single numbers mean. One must also know what the “compound,” or “double,” numbers mean as well. The single Chaldean Numerology number simply represents the physical outward appearance of a person’s name, whereas the compound Chaldean Numerology number represents the deeper, metaphysical, hidden in•uences or forces behind the name. In our above example, although the name adds up to the single number 3, the name also has three compound numbers—13 in the •rst name, 17 in the last name. Once the physical (single number) and metaphysical (compound number) aspects of your name have been determined, the next important step is your date of birth. Your date of birth means the day of the month you were born under, for it too has its own occult symbology and signi•cance. So, Anjna Agarwal, born on the 24th day of October, would also be considered a number 6 person under this system. Your date of birth is extremely important because it is unchangeable and therefore a constant, like the needle pointing north on a compass. A person may undergo a series of name changes over the years because of marriage, adoption, and the like, but the birth date remains the same. However, in Pythagorean system emphasis is given on total date of birth comprising day, month and year of the birth.
