PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS (CONT....)

Threshold Settings Low – Low threshold has a LOW tolerance for out-of-focus areas. The camera has a low tolerance for focus error. Requires absolute precision to highlight the edges. Looking for maximum sharpness. High – High threshold is kind of lazy. It will highlight the edge even if it isn’t really in focus. You will get the highlight sooner with a High threshold than you will with a Low threshold setting. High is actually easier to see because it’s outlining more edges than with the Low setting. It might be better to start off on the High setting and then if you need fine detail, switch to Low Threshold mode.

What is it good for? 1. Rapid focus at moderate DOFs 2. Focusing on Fine Details 3. Quickly set Hyperfocal Distance What is it Not good for? 1. Extremely shallow depths of field – colours may hide the edges 2. It can be distracting at times Note* Primarily used when shooting on a tripod.
