ATHELSTANEFORD PRIMARY SCHOOL Wednesday 23rd October 2019 - 7pm-9pm 1.Welcome and apologies:

Present: Mellony Bertram (Principal Teacher), Gillian Zanre (Chair), Brian Moody (Acting Head Teacher), Chris Hoy (Councillor), Alice Beveridge (Parent), Sandra Delahooke (Parent) Jo Mair (Parent), Derek Swan (Parent), Jane Brand (Parent), Tora Harrison (Vice Chair), Jenni Lai (Parent).

2.Head Teacher’s Update:

Brian Moody introduced himself will be dividing his time between Direlton Primary and Athelstaneford, until new Head Teacher is appointed. New HT will hopefully start in the new year.

School Priorities: Staffing:   

Sarah has taken up new post as HT at Pencaitland. Mr Brian Moody is Acting HT while the recruitment process for new HT is carried out. Becca Doyle started her maternity leave Thursday 10th October and gave birth to a daughter on the 12th. Supply staff has been organised while the recruitment takes place.

STG (School Team Group): This year a new system of schools working together for the purposes of self-evaluation and school improvement has been established. Athelstaneford will work with Innerwick, Stenton and Macmerry. We held our first meeting at Stenton and the focus of that was attainment data and target setting.

SIP CAT sessions on co-operative learning, target setting and differentiation.


School

Pupil voice:

Pupil voice groups have had initial meetings to identify developments for the coming year.

Learner Experiences   

Rookie Rockstar P5/6/7- Hockey Taster P3/4 and p5/6/7- Rugby Taster

Finance Communication has been issued to all parents about schools becoming cashless at the end of October. Nearly all families are now registered with the ipay system and Lyndsey will support the remaining few if needed.

Playground/Loose Parts Planning permission has now been granted and all the information passed to Brian Moody to action this. Play specialist has observed the playground on two occasions and will feedback his thoughts.

Parent Consultations/Target Setting

Teachers have held target setting meetings with all children prior to parent consultations. Parent consultations were well attended, and many children joined the meeting to discuss target setting. We would now like to seek feedback about the target setting process.

3. Financial update:

Finance balance is at £7859.02. Derek as subsidiary signatory with treasurer for financial report. Both will discuss with Susan Begg. We have accountant for this year but need find new one for next year. Action: L/C, D/W.


4.Fundraising Team Update:

The Halloween disco will be taking place Friday.

Raffle tickets getting organised for the Christmas fair on the 30th November. Looking for sponsorship stall holders and raffle prizes. Sandra will phone the company for the calendar and get a display calendar as well as order forms, so people are able to order on the day. Wreath making will take place on the 28th of November. And will be making rag wreaths from materials, Jo will order wire and materials.

 

5.AOCB: 

Jo and Lucy will be looking into finding out how much a stage will cost to hire for the Christmas show.

Jane Brand- will discuss with the village hall committee about the stage and decide.

Also looking for new office bearers to take up the parent council roles, possibly advertise at the Christmas fair. And get training dates Gillian will discuss with Niela.

Wishlist- A chrome book to work with the new white board everyone has agreed to fund it.

Table Tennis is broken- Peter Dickie will fix it.

Text system is now working, and Lyndsey will send reminders about Halloween disco.

Craig Hoy advised that the Chief Executive and Fiona Robertson Head of Education are both leaving.

Bus review on 20th October, possibly to change timetable.

School supporting Blythswood buses this year.

Sleigh bell fundraiser taking place at Fenton tower 13h Nov, if interested in going, or can donate some baking and donations are welcome et in touch with Jo Mair, Moira Lyndsey or Gillian Zanre. Action: S/D,J/M,L/W,J/B,G/Z,N/K, P/D.
