6 Studio: Arci 312 Design Integration with Structures Location: Corner of Ghuznee St & Leeds St, Wellington This project was the final design project for Bachelor of my Architecture Studies and had a challenging brief which consisted of many diverse functions to combine onto a 2,400 Square Meter Site. The concept is about rythem and solo parts in a guitar jam between guitarists. This has been communicated through a ply wood and steel composite structure that cuts and subdivides the rectangular form.
LIBRARY LARGE M AUDITORIU
The use of a composite structure begins at the ground floor leading the public into the main auditorium, it then sweeps up cutting the structure and then back around, over the auditorium and finally finishes by breaking away from the rythmic structure and faรงade, cantilevering over the footpath. The curved planes separate the library and the large auditorium from the other spaces and creates a defined intermediate zone. The angle of the planes support the tiered seating of both the auditoriums.

URBAN PAPAKAINGA LEVEL 300 DESIGN TRIMESTER 1
14 Studio: Arci 311 Design Location: Corner of Ghuznee St & Leeds St, Wellington This project was a research assignment which required the research of the housing policies of the Mana Party. Through this process I discovered that in the history of housing policies Maori people were neglected in the policies, making it hard for them to make money. They would have to change their lifestyle to move to the city, which I believe contributes to their loss of culture. The Urban Papakainga symbolizes the revitalization of the Maoritanga and Te Reo Maori for the Tangata Whenua living or shifting to central Wellington City in the future.

The building celebrates wananga, knowledge, with the main circulation moving up through a central void with education facilities positioned off from the void. Apartments are then located on the outskirts of the building. Formal and informal classrooms have been utilised to suit individuals teaching needs, conventional and studio classrooms with the additional pods for informal group learning and activities.

The top floor contains a Marae where the Powhiri will take place, the manuhiri (visotors) enter and are welcomed to the Marae by using the stairs. Below the ground is the Urapa which anchors the building to the ground and provides a rooted connection for the hapu to their tupuna.

Studio: Arci 212 Design Location: Lyall Bay, Wellington
This Project is for a “Light Rail Station on the waterfront of Lyall Bay, which is located 5 minutes from the Wellington Airport. The design provides residential apartments and a hotel in one vibrant mixed use facility and utilizes the large roof for solar energy and water collection. The concept was to create a light rail station that generates the euphoric experience of a barrel in a surf wave, influenced from the surf beach at Lyall Bay. The timber and glass canopy creates similar light qualities as a barrel, which vary throughout the spaces as the roof form flows over the buildings.

UPPER HUTT CBD RECONNECTION FRAMEWORK LEVEL 300 URBAN DESIGN TRIMESTER 1
26 Studio: Sarc 351 Introduction to Urban Design Location: Upper Hutt City In Collaboration With: Sarah Wild This Project was to redesign and revitalize the CBD of Upper Hutt as currently businesses are diminishing and the Main Street is too long for its current low population. The vision was to create a vibrant pedestrian CBD that has dense living with more open spaces for residents. The plan proposes to implement a river corridor that will contain a stream, pedestrian paths, cycling paths and light rail tracks. The corridor will link the nearby suburbs to the CBD and additionally the CBD to the river. The city will become a more dense and vibrant place with a recreational theme in the future, suitable for families, professionals and the elderly wanting to retire in the city.
