Sayamaike Museum The Sayamaike Museum designed by Tadoa Ando 2001 in Osaka, located on the edge of the Sayamaike Pond. Which once a reservior and dates back to 7th centuary as a flood control dam. The building house the relices of the ancient Japanese Water Engineering. The journey into the museum is one that tells the importance of water. The occupant enters from the pond into a concrete courtyard with two granite volumes, which are reflected in pools of water. As the vistor moves down water cascades from the pools above animating the space with sound and light. This walkway then leads to a cylindrical vlume which is a triple height exhibition hall. The size of the space is determind by the main museums archelogical relic. This space siliences the water sounds and leads the occupants into the museums interior.

Memorial to the Victims of Communism Prague

Oklahoma City National Memorial Bronze figures symbolising how political prinsners where affected by Communism The Human scale relates to the experience and helps feel uneasy The way they are placed means people will have to weave around the statues

Honors victims, survivors, resuers and all who were affected by the cities bombing Utilies object which relates to human occupation - by having these empty chairs spread out represent the loss of life.

The design of the stairs contrals people to walk slower and therefore giving the memorial gratitude

How the memorial changes from night and day The use of a memorial as a landscape is that people use it for recreation, metting and for breaks, this use links the living to the dead becasue they are sharing this park.

Miscellaneous Memorials

Irish Hunger Memorial Memorial to the irish that died of hunger - raising awareness of the Great Irish Famine. Killed up to 1 million people. Memorial park with an architecture underneath. Has stones from all the different counties of Ireland. The light pannels have words and facts about the tradegedy. The light pannels are used to illuminate the space and make people read the messages. Innovative way of teaching people without having a board with some writting. Visitors would have to move around the architecture for an indepth history.

High walls controll the movement of people but also can frame special view to the city. Scale is used to make people feel less significant as there is a greater problem.

These boxes are refuge shelters - something that would relate to everyone is that these boxes could be used to give people awareness of the problem, but then they are also a refuge shelter.

Anniversaries to those fallen makes people come together and pay tribute to tradegedy or event. Fireworks - Anzac day. As simple as people lighting candles links to the repspect to the life lost. These examples are from Japan for the earthquake and the tsunami.

Having objects that are placed in the water that glow is a strong way of representing the loss of life at night this would have a greater effect on people experiencing the place.

Chossing a day for a global events would be challenging
