Sustainable land based aquaculture project in France

SUSTAINABLE

SMART

Why land based?

The growing world population demands highly sustainable food production to reduce GHG emissions and answer to the climate goals set out in the Paris Agreement. Traditional sea based aquaculture are experiencing rising issues such as volume constraints due to biological challenges and regulations. At the same time there is a a global increase in demand for salmon, and simultaneously an increase in the price of salmon.

Smart Salmon will contribute to solve these issues by producing an eco-friendly salmon in a land based aquaculture farm in France.

What’s in it for France?

France is one of the biggest salmon consumers in the world. By introducing land based facilities, France can increase local production of salmon and food sovereignity at the same time!

Our vision

PRODUCE SUSTAINABLE AND LOCAL SALMON that is SAFE – HEALTHY – TASTY at competitive prices for the french consumer

A project aligned with the french governmental guidelines

By reading the French governmental guidelines, we have identified common interests in increasing the food sovereignty in France, the production of healthy and tasty food, as well as increasing jobs and driving economic growth in rural/local areas. Smart Salmon’s project will support all these goals, the development of the French Aquaculture industry and bring France to the forefront of innovation and sustainability.
