“I NEED A VACATION.” It’s a sentiment I’ve heard many times this year from both personal and professional friends. And though always followed by gratitude for the busyness, our longing to turn on do-not-disturb and disconnect momentarily seems to be a reoccurring theme for us all. While I myself have always shared this spirit for wanderlust, I’ve also come to appreciate the smaller forms of escapism that don’t require a plane ticket. And isn’t that what the pandemic has taught us? That escapism is no longer limited to sunbathing at the beach or thrilling adventures across the pond, but can be found in life’s simplest moments, surrounded by the people we love, right here in our own homes? Our April issue leans into the slower pace with three breezy, elegant, seaside escapes that have mastered the art

Former emergency room physician SUSAN KINSELLA traded the hectic hospital for the serenity of creating art Written by SUZANNA CULLEN HAMILTON
“I love small communities and how they relate to the land and water,” says artist Susan Kinsella of her paintings that depict homes and buildings that dot the coastlines of the U.S., U.K., France and Spain.
Surgical precision is evident in Kinsella’s paintings, which can be found at Huff Harrington Fine Art.
24
ATLANTA HOMES & LIFESTYLES: You spent 32 years as an emergency room physician—a most demanding and consuming position—and then became an artist. How was that transition? SUSAN KINSELLA: I traded frantic passion for serene passion. Being an ER doctor is enormously rewarding, but it’s equally exhausting. In 2016, I woke from a dream and knew that I should paint. I saw my last patient in November 2019—the end of my incredibly fulfilling career with Piedmont Hospital and Piedmont Urgent Care. AH&L: Did you take art lessons? SK: I’ve never taken art lessons. Although I was a crafty kid, I was a chemistry major, so art was not part of my curriculum. I’m selftaught and I continue to evolve in both subject and technique. AH&L: Where do you find inspiration? SK: Travel is my inspiration— both literal and figurative. Whether drawing on my own travel experiences or watching documentaries, I’m captivated by landscapes, the ocean and boats. From the U.S., to Scotland, to the coasts of France and Spain, I love the sense of community in small towns and how they relate to the land and water.
AH&L: It’s evident that your medical career influences your painting style because your boats and houses are very precise; there’s nothing abstract or obscure in your paintings. Is that deliberate? SK: I’m not an abstract artist; rather, I’m more fulfilled when I’m painting realistic places. I think peaceful solitude is good for the body, and I hope my paintings of land and water nourish the viewer’s soul. AH&L: What do you love most about painting? SK: I love the feeling and validation when someone is moved enough by my painting to buy it. Of course, there’s validation in helping people through medicine, but it’s a different kind of emotion when one inspires another person through art. AH&L: Does anyone else in your family paint? SK: My stepgrandchildren love to visit my studio, but I put all of my paintings away so that they can have creative free-rein. My late husband didn’t paint, but he supported this next chapter, and I only wish he’d been here longer to share it with me. AH&L: What’s been the best thing about leaving medicine to paint? SK: I’m so happy that my right brain has been freed!

NUMBERS SOUTHEASTERN DESIGNER SHOWHOUSE & GARDENS Presented by Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles and led by Linda MacArthur Architect, builder EverCraft LLC, Kit Castaldo Design and Floralis Lake Oconee
Garden Design, the seventh annual showhouse is open
Written and Produced by LORI JOHNSTON
The pandemic continues to drive demand and prices in Atlanta’s traditional second-home markets. Luxury buyers seek to spread out from the lakes— Oconee, Rabun and Burton—to north Georgia’s mountain towns and the Highlands/Cashiers area to the Golden Isles. Off-market sales are common, inventory is low and existing homes are even more desirable due to builder backups and supply chain issues. “The second-home market has a lot of pressure on it,” says TRAVIS REED of HOME LUXURY REAL ESTATE. Prices have doubled and even tripled since the pandemic, and another six months of increases are expected. Last year, he sold a six-bedroom, 8,110-square-foot Lake Oconee home for $3.6 million; it sold for $1.6 million
three years prior. New homes in the Lowcountry’s Palmetto Bluff also are experiencing significant appreciation, he says. Demand is “absolutely outpacing the market,” says KRISTIE WHITAKER, senior vice president and managing broker of HARRY NORMAN REALTORS’ Atlanta North, Blue Ridge and Blairsville offices. She expects a few listings this year in the $7-million range. Buyers seek the comforts of a primary home—from connectivity to full terrace-level entertainment spaces to pools—in vacation locales where they spend more time hybrid living for remote work or school. “If you see something you like, buy it. Don’t wait,” says Reed. “The next one that you like is going to be more expensive.”
Artistic Ideation The design of the new HYATT CENTRIC BUCKHEAD, a lifestyle hotel located near Lenox Square and developed by SONGY HIGHROADS, connects to the neighborhood with playful and sculptural sophistication. “With travel having been limited over the past two years, guests are looking for a property that feels of both its time and place,” says TRACEY SAWYER of SAWYER & COMPANY, the property’s design team who collaborated with THE JOHNSON STUDIO AT COOPER CARRY. They looked to unique stories and historic details in the area’s landscape and heritage to create an immersive and authentic modern aesthetic. Nods to Georgia’s clay craftsmanship are seen in the 28

For those yearning for something exotic, a journey to a faraway destination is an ideal escape, while to others, a weekend jaunt to a close-by location may be just enough of a retreat without being too far away from home. To someone with no travel plans on the horizon, I think any type of trip sounds heavenly, but just because I won’t be leaving Atlanta anytime soon doesn’t mean that I can’t do some escaping of my own. In fact, I’ve been doing it regularly. On nights when I’m bored or frazzled and feel the need to get away from it all, I escape the travails of my daily life by traveling back in time to my very favorite decade, the 1980s, a journey made possible thanks to the myriad streaming services I subscribe to. Okay, so I might be stretching the definition of a getaway, but I’m here to tell you that if you need to take your mind off your troubles and unwind, a few episodes of Designing Women or Dynasty are just the ticket. The big hair! The shoulder pads! The catfights! Actually, the catfights were more of a thing on Dynasty, where Krystle and Alexis raised them to an art form, but I digress. I’ve also been streaming a slew of ’80s-era made-forTV movies, which frankly were never all that good to begin with, but they do offer the opportunity to revisit what made 1980s’ interior design and fashion so memorable, such as the California look (think oversize upholstered furniture in bleached tones à la Sally Sirkin Lewis) and Nolan Miller clothing, both of which figured prominently on television at that time. Now, if watching hours of television is not your idea of escape, there are plenty of other ways to do so from the comfort of your own home, like reading travel literature or cooking exotic dishes. The point is that while travel might be the most gratifying form of a getaway, an at-home escape can sometimes be just as fun.

A PIECE OF FRANCE is waiting for you on the quaint corner of Paces Ferry Place and Irby Avenue with Le Bon Nosh—a cafe, market, wine bar and restaurant led by owner and executive chef Forough Vakili. Roughly translated as “the good bite,” the restaurant bridges Southern hospitality with French-inspired culinary fare. Commune, a Los Angeles-based design studio, is responsible for the fashion-forward yet sentimental design concepts showcased throughout the space. As one enters the restaurant, the eye is drawn to floor-to-ceiling velvet drapes sourced from Argentina that help divide each dining area. To the left of the entrance, a bright marble coffee bar captures guests’ attention and acts as the perfect first stop on your culinary adventure. As you make your way into the dining room, a commissioned painting by Tyler Hays complements a curved plaster staircase that ushers you to a secret mezzanine. Commune principal Roman Alonso drew inspiration for the design directly from Vakili’s childhood stories in Iran. “Immediately we knew it was this collection of memories that had to be the foundation of her restaurant’s ethos,” says Alonso. In a similar spirit, the restaurant is known for seasonal items and fresh ingredients, featuring a menu that’s constantly revolving. Vakili notes the style of cooking at Le Bon Nosh mirrors her cooking style inside her personal kitchen. “I want people to feel at home at Le Bon Nosh and have an authentic experience rooted in community, but anchored by nourishing, seasonal dishes,” says Vakili. With the goal to unite the community through food, guests will find a variety of inspired menu items, such as Belgian waffles topped with vanilla Chantilly cream and Vermont maple syrup for breakfast, a mushroom tartine for lunch or a gougères with ham and Brie for dinner. Says Vakili, “Food serves as a vessel to create meaningful impact, not only through delicious meals for our guests, but also connecting to the broader community through authentic culinary experiences.” lebonnosh.com

PART OF A FAMILY that has been coming to Sea Island for four generations, Bonneau Ansley leapt at the rarified opportunity to purchase a pristine waterfront property there, soon assembling an all-star team to build a custom home for him and his wife, Jen, to bring their two teenage children. “Sea Island is where you learn to love life,” he says. “When you arrive, all your worries go away.” As the founder and CEO of Southern real estate company Ansley Real Estate, he has toured a multitude of high-end homes over the years, often taking photos of architecture and design details he particularly loved. Many of them made their way into architect Keith Summerour’s design. “I wanted a one-of-a-kind home that was unlike anything else on the island,” says Ansley, describing Summerour as a “living legend.”

Coastal Living
Framing long views of the marsh, white metal windows contrast the rich cedar shake siding in this Sea Island retreat.
In contrast to the many Spanish-inspired houses on the island, Summerour designed a cedar shingle-style home with white metal windows and a unique louver system that wraps the front facade’s lower level. Making the most of the island’s size restrictions, he incorporated a poolside lounge on the lower level and tucked a third floor into the softly curved roofline. “From the third floor, you feel like you’re in the captain’s quarters looking out over miles and miles of marsh,” says Summerour, comparing the house to an upside-down ship. Visible from every room, the beautiful vistas inspired interior designer Kay Douglass to select a neutral palette punctuated by punches of color, graphic pattern and texture. Citron lanterns and black and white encaustic tile, for example, enlivens the white cabinetry in the open kitchen. “It needed that kick,” she says. A boisterous black, white and cobalt wallcovering has the same impact in the poolside lounge, where tailored furnishings covered in performance fabrics surround a white stucco fireplace. Pattern and color also energize the bedrooms. Matching upholstered headboards covered in a daring mustard and white 42

Comfort on the Coast Amid the bright white homes of Alys Beach, ASHLEY GILBREATH and GARY JUSTISS craft a classic home full of warmth Written by SEJAL BHIMA Photographed by LAUREY GLENN

With the living room adjacent to a pedestrian walkway, architect Gary Justiss gave careful thought to the window placement. To fill the gap between the bottom of the windows and sofa, interior designer Ashley Gilbreath utilized a custom screen.

ALYS BEACH’S BLEACH WHITE Bermudan architecture has made it a design icon—and Instagram darling—on Florida’s Emerald Coast. “The community is really known for its stark environment, but in the best of ways,” says interior designer Ashley Gilbreath. “The ‘Alys aesthetic’ is very monochromatic, very white and very clean.” But what to do when a client with a penchant for traditional interiors tasks you with designing a home in this more
54
modern enclave? It was a request Gilbreath and architect Gary Justiss were happy to oblige. “We really focused on highlighting the wife’s taste for warm and classic, while still including some contemporary Alys style,” explains Gilbreath. The homeowners, a semiretired couple who split their time between Atlanta and 30A, came across the property midconstruction and scooped it up with a vision of creating the perfect seaside retreat to host their children and grandchildren.

Inside Out
left Wrapped in Ipe wood, the front zaguan is furnished similar to an interior room. “Blurring the distinction between indoor and outdoor spaces was an important part of the design,” says Justiss. below Many homes in the community feature colored exterior accents for a playful pop of interest amid the white masonry buildings. The homeowners selected a vivid blue as a nod to the ocean.

Central Hub
An oversize woven chandelier from Gilbreath’s shop, Parish, adds major impact in the dining room. Teak chairs from Selamat were chosen for their durability. “Everything we selected in the home was intended to be wet-bottom bathing suit-friendly,” says Gilbreath.
To accommodate their large family, Justiss, who was also the home’s original architect, added a fifth bedroom where a flat roof area was previously designated. In perhaps a stroke of serendipity, Justiss had already designed the space for expansion. “Structurally, it was always meant to handle a future floor,” he says. For the interiors, Gilbreath used warm tones—like a rich cognac color repeated on a living room chair and velvet headboard in a guest bedroom—to mirror the coziness of traditional design. The couple’s existing art collection also provides a dose of color. 56
Meanwhile, woven light pendants, driftwood accents and other interesting textures (the hallmark of thoughtful design according to Gilbreath) keep the home firmly rooted in its seaside locale. Like many homes in Alys Beach, a zaguan entry gate welcomes guests from the palm-fringed cobblestone alley into the home’s pool courtyard. “Zaguans function as an entry hall, as you don’t actually have a foyer in the square footage of the house,” says Justiss. For this home, he and Gilbreath suggested wrapping the space in Ipe wood to create a warm and welcoming entrance.

Sun-Kissed State
Poolside sofas by Summer Classics offer a comfy spot to soak up the sun.
“This was a big decision,” Gilbreath recalls. “Given its cost, we considered painted walls, but the Ipe wood was ultimately put back into the budget because it was really important to have those rich, warm tones as you enter to set the stage for the rest of the house.” Aesthetics aside, zaguans are also key to the mechanics of a home in steamy climates. “They’re a common concept in South America, where courtyards are really considered rooms. Their true purpose though is to provide cross ventilation,” explains Justiss. A rear zaguan in this home, used as an outdoor cooking station, provides a path for breezes to cut through hot, still air in warmer months. Folding glass doors from the living room open onto the courtyard, blurring the lines between inside and out and offering the couple and their family plenty of room to unwind. “And that’s really the intention of it all, right? Family,” says Gilbreath. “Families come down here to escape and make memories together, and we love providing the beautiful backdrop to make it happen.” See Resources, Back of Book. 61

BIG HOME DESIGN PROJECTS can take months, if not years, especially in an age of supply chain issues. But familiar with her client’s style after a recent collaboration, interior designer Melanie Turner readily signed on to decorate her clients’ new vacation home in Alys Beach despite the 90-day timeline they had in mind. To meet the aggressive deadline, she improvised by using pieces from her clients’ existing collection, incorporating vintage furnishings and pulling in treasured items she had collected over the years. “They wanted a casual beach house that paid homage to the 1970s—an era of fond memories for them,” says Turner. “The design is boho but collected.”

Although the white stucco home is steps from the Gulf, it doesn’t face the water. To make up for the lack of outward-facing views, Turner made good use of her client’s extensive art collection, peppering pieces throughout the house and creating a gallery wall in the open living and dining area. “We turned inward and dazzled them in a creative way,” says Turner. “There’s a surprise around every corner.” The spirited wall of art creates a lively backdrop for an eclectic mix of furnishings. A velvet-covered chair and sofa, for example, create a cozy conversation spot around a unique cocktail table with a trio of spherical legs. And a pair of woven pendants illuminate a wooden dining table surrounded by an upholstered banquette and a set of chairs with raffia seats and rounded backs. “It’s simple and layered at the same time,” the designer explains. 73

Steps away, a console table with a root base and a glass top reinforces the organic milieu in dramatic fashion. “It’s artistic, but also very casual,” says Turner. That holds true for the well-appointed bedrooms. In the primary suite, a trompe l’oeil wallcovering that resembles plaster creates a seemingly three-dimensional backdrop for an upholstered headboard and contemporary wooden side tables. Paired with a metal chair with a faux bois pattern, a large abstract likewise commands attention on the adjacent wall. FOR FRANCOPHILES and lovers of all things design, a visit to the award-winning Cal-a-Vie Health Spa is, as the French would say, très magnifique. Situated on 450 acres in Vista, California, and just 45 minutes from the San Diego airport, the spa resembles a Provençal village with its wine-producing vineyards, orange groves, rolling hills filled with lavender and buildings that appear to have stepped out of the 18th century. The day begins at 6:30 a.m. with an early morning hike followed by breakfast and a wellrounded program of workouts with interesting takes on the average yoga-weight training-Pilates-barre combo. Meditation and wellness classes are also on the agenda, and there is even a planetarium for stargazing at night. Outdoors, soak up the California sun with tennis or pickleball, take in a round of golf at the adjacent Vista Valley Country Club or sit in the sun by one of the spa’s two heated pools. Pampering is available in the form of massages and spa treatments.

There is even a wine tasting from the spa’s own vineyards. Co-owner Terri Havens designed the interiors that can best be coined as château chic. Curating the impressive array of French antiques for each one-of-a-kind villa, her travels to Paris and the French countryside, Brussels and Italy have yielded everything from statues, fountains, gilded carved barometers, French Provincial armoires, tapestries and 200-year-old reclaimed-wood floors. There is also an antiques shop on the grounds, where visitors can purchase Louis XV and XVI antiquities and Provençal planters from the vast inventory. Book a three-, four- or seven-night stay (includes airport transportation and spa sessions) to get yourself out of a pandemic-induced rut. Thanks to Southern California’s temperate weather, there is never a bad time to go. Perhaps Havens sums it up best on the French setting, “We asked ourselves what would it be like if we had the same programs but super luxurious with gorgeous antiques and a great environment to work out? It’s all about lifestyle and for us, making a difference in people’s lives.” cal-a-vie.com

Complete with its own vineyard and windmill, the property is surrounded by rolling hills of lavender and resembles an authentic French village. Each of the one-of-a-kind Mediterranean-style villas (32 in all) feature Frette linens and classic French antiques.

GRANDE DAME
THE BOCA RATON’s historic resort gets a jaw-dropping upgrade IN A WORLD obsessed with what’s new, there’s something comforting—and luxurious—about revisiting the past. At The Boca Raton, a resort originally pioneered by visionary architect Addison Mizner, a $200 million top-to-bottom renovation means the iconic property is better than ever. The resort comprises five distinct hotels totaling more than 1,000 rooms, for five unique styles of staying. There’s the private beach-adjacent Beach Club; the two-bedroom suites at Bungalows, ideal for longer stays; the adult’s only, all-suite Yacht Club; the 27-story Tower, with two- to three-bedroom configurations and round-the-clock butler service; and the 294-key Cloister, the original Mediterranean Revival-style structure designed by Mizner in 1926, now restored to its original bright white exterior. 82
A sprawling 200-acre property, bisected by a glittering harbor could feel overwhelming, but staying here feels intimate and interesting, allowing guests to build their ideal itinerary. In addition to the lush 18-hole golf course and the reimagined Harborside Pool Club, complete with a lazy river and private cabanas, the latest upgrades have added new dining experiences. There’s Sadelle’s, the NYC institution known for decadent brunches, and The Flamingo Grill, where servers clad in pink dinner jackets finish Caesar salads and bananas Fosters tableside and serve delicacies such as stone crab claws and dry-aged steaks. For a truly transportive experience, spring for dinner at MB Supper Club, reminiscent of 1930s supper clubs. Nightly live music accents a menu of updated standards
including oysters Rockefeller, beef Wellington and baked Alaska. Make sure to ogle the Astek wallpaper, featuring cheeky monkeys drinking vodka and smoking cigars. The eatery, which stands for “Monkey Bar,” was inspired by Mizner’s famous pet monkey, Johnnie Brown. A vintage picture of the pair is displayed near the entrance. Getting from one area to another is an experience in itself, as guests can hop on the gratis 28-foot water taxi or borrow the resort’s Moke, an electric vehicle that resembles a miniature Jeep. While guests can indulge in all of the modern conveniences of high-speed Wi-Fi, state-of-the-art fitness equipment and concierge chats via text, staying here feels like a return to the best parts of a glamorous throwback getaway. thebocaraton.com

SOUTHERN GRACE
Currently one of the South’s most buzzworthy cities, GREENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA, glistens with rich history, spirited culture and community sensibilities

YOU’VE HEARD THE BUZZ. Greenville, South Carolina, is one of the fastest growing cities in the country, consistently topping the travel lists of many Southerners curious about its charming locales. Making its name as a textile industry leader in the early 1900s and now centered around culture and the arts, it’s safe to say Greenville is rich in history and even richer in community. With just over 75,000 residents, Greenville’s small-town feel lives large thanks to revitalization efforts over the last two decades. Outdoor pursuits abound for visitors. Rent a bike and coast the 22-mile Swamp Rabbit Trail that weaves its way through the city’s parks, and don’t forget to stop at Falls Park on the Reedy. A nature lover’s paradise, the park is an oasis within the city that features gracious gardens and 30-foot waterfalls, best viewed from the Liberty Bridge. Nearby, Greenville’s Main Street—where numerous boutiques, eateries, art installations and entertainment venues are aplenty—is best explored by foot. After a morning of activity, quench your thirst with The Brewery Experience, where guests sip and stroll at up to seven different local establishments.

Say hello to the on-staff pups at Liability Brewing Co. and linger longer at brother-owned Tetrad Brewing Co., where family comes first but great craft beer is a close second. In between stops, guide Gary Glancy plays Gary Gose Gump, a professionally made parody of Forrest Gump. Scrap your preconceived ideas, because come end of the tour, you’ll be requesting a few more trips around the block to see the ending. After a long day of exploring, unwind at the new AC Hotel by Marriott Greenville Downtown, located in the developing Camperdown Plaza. Once home to The Greenville News building, the 196-room hotel pays homage to its publishing roots with deconstructed newspaper prints, large factory-style windows and a speakeasy titled The Press Room—its entrance evoking an editor’s room and signature drinks inspired by the newspaper. Additionally, the hotel celebrates its own with one of the largest privately owned art collections in the county, featuring more than 100 works from over 30 local artists. At its debut, the hotel introduced five new dining concepts to the plaza, including Mediterranean-inspired tapas bar Paloma, and Juniper, a 16,000-square-foot rooftop restaurant offering delectable dishes and spectacular city views. The restaurant’s draping greenery is thanks to Atlanta’s Boxwoods Gardens & Gifts, who played a part in the establishment’s floral design. If you’re looking for both adventure and a top-notch culinary experience, make your way to Travelers Rest, a small town located just outside of the city and accessible by car or bike using the Swamp Rabbit Trail. What started as a place to host cyclists for a bite to eat is now home to more than a dozen hot spots, from Topsoil (led by James Beard Nominated Best Chef Southeast Adam Cooke) to Monkey Wrench Smokehouse with South Carolina-style barbecue. Don’t forget your appetite. visitgreenvillesc.com

Camperdown Plaza plays host to an array of new establishments, including the AC Hotel. In addition to flowing forage and decadent menu items, the hotel’s rooftop restaurant Juniper offers spectacular city views. Falls Park on the Reedy is a 32-acre hidden oasis located in the heart of downtown Greenville. Tapas from Paloma are inspired by Mediterranean dishes.

WELCOME!
IS THERE ANYTHING MORE EXCITING than seeing (and smelling) the first blooms of spring? After a particularly long winter, flowering branches and colorful buds offer up a happy “hello,” breathing life back into not only our city, but ourselves as well. Like the season, Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles has been hard at work breathing that same life into our 7th-annual Southeastern Designer Showhouse! Our 2022 Southeastern Designer Showhouse & Gardens, presented by EVERCRAFT, is a collaboration between an exceptional design-build dream team: architect LINDA MACARTHUR, landscape design firm FLORALIS and lead specfications designer KIT CASTALDO. We’re also welcoming spring by highlighting some of the Southeast’s top design talents. As you walk through the home, you’ll tour the work of design firms from Atlanta and across the Southeast—from Alabama to South Carolina and beyond. We are delighted to announce this year’s Honorary Chair, TISH MILLS, who has designed the Primary Bedroom. Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles is thrilled to welcome our new beneficiary Camp Twin Lakes! We are honored to work with an organization dedicated to providing a genuine camp experience for children with illnesses, disabilities and other lifelong challenges. Welcome to the 2022 Southeastern Designer Showhouse & Gardens!

Camp positively impacts 10,000 campers annually through year-round programs at two campuses in Winder and Rutledge, GA. Our campuses are full, and thanks to the generosity of our community, construction is underway on a new campus to serve an additional 3,500 campers each year. At our fully accessible campuses, our campers can safely participate in typical camp programs like fishing, swimming, rockwall climbing, horseback riding and drumming while under the supervision of medical staff and specially trained camping professionals. Camp’s intentional programming provides opportunities for each camper to grow in their confidence and experience the joys of childhood.

As they make memories with their peers, the isolation they often feel vanishes in the comfort of new friendships forged by the strongest of bonds: the challenges they have in common. Camp Twin Lakes is changing the lives of Georgia’s youth in profound ways. During their time at Camp, our campers learn new skills to manage their unique challenges more independently. Campers leave more confident and with greater self-acceptance. In a supportive environment where they feel understood, campers become a contributing member of a rich community, bonded by the fun they share at Camp as well as the challenges they face at home. Each year, campers are delighted to reunite with their Camp Family, where they receive support, understanding and unconditional love.
WHERE CHALLENGES BECOME TRIUMPHS
Help us grow. Visit camptwinlakes.org. No gift is too small to make a big impact.
Camp Twin Lakes is celebrating 30 years of providing year-round therapeutic camping programs for youth living with serious illnesses, disabilities, and life challenges. Nearly 10,000 campers benefit from our programs each year, and the need to serve more children is growing fast. Camp Twin Lakes is building a third campus to provide life-changing camp experiences for 3,500 more campers each year. Please help us raise the last $3 million needed to build and fill our new campus with adaptive equipment, furniture, and medical supplies.

Kalpana Oommen
Evercraft LLC designs and builds beautifully curated and crafted livable homes. Kattia Easterly, Sabrina Kelkar and Kalpana Oommen are the driving force behind Evercraft with a combined 28 years of residential development, residential construction and interiors experience. Partner Kattia Easterly previously founded Serrano Conway Homes, which was a reflection of her own desire to deliver high end design with functional livability. “Each of our homes is truly unique and is an intersection of art, creativity and functionality that ultimately exceeds the buyer’s or client’s expectations. Our passion stems from designing homes which are uniquely curated and bespoke,” says Easterly. Partner Sabrina Kelkar’s journey took her to Beazer Homes, where she honed her considerable skills in the operational practices impacting both quality and speed of a build. “Even the best plans will need onsite adjustments. We take pride in both our homes and our problem-solving talents… always focused on doing the right thing,” says Kelkar. Having designed and built her own custom home, Partner Kalpana Oommen understands trust is the key to any successful build. “The relationship is everything. We know our clients want their build in the hands of dreamers and doers… and most importantly, the hands that will carry them through one of the most significant journeys they’ll undertake,” says Oommen. Evercraft is grateful to be surrounded by partners with shared values for delivering unparalleled service from industry leading architects, artisans, tradespeople to site planners, landscape architects and realtors. All longtime residents of Atlanta, the three partners drive EverCraft’s mission to leave their hometown more beautiful and more livable with each build. evercraftllc.com (404) 500-6336
