EACH MONTH WE’LL BE CHECKING IN WITH THE VHS FOR THE LATEST GOOD NEWS AND TO HELP FIND FUREVER HOMES FOR SOME OF THEIR MORE UNIQUE AND OLDER RESIDENTS

BOBBY: Have you been searching for a loyal sweetie to call your own? Look no further than Bobby, a six-year-old retriever mix! After his previous owner’s health made it too difficult to care for him, Bobby found himself at the Vanderburgh Humane Society. With years of experience as “Man’s Best Friend,” Bobby does great on a leash, knows how to sit and shake, has lived with kiddos, loves everyone he meets and is eager to become your loyal sweetie! His $150 adoption fee includes his neuter, microchip and vaccinations.

MARLA SINGER: The first rule of River Kitty is: There is no such thing as a bad cat. The second rule of River Kitty is: There is no such thing as a bad cat. Even if they’ve been at River Kitty for almost a year, there’s no such thing as a bad cat! Marla Singer, named after a character from the cult-classic Fight Club, is 2-years-old and the longest resident at River Kitty Cat Cafe. Like her namesake, she’s a strong-willed lady. Don’t let her fool you, though. She has a tender side and adores attention on her own terms. Marla’s $80 adoption fee covers her spay, microchip and up-to-date vaccinations. Come meet her in downtown Evansville at the River Kitty Cat Cafe!

HOOTIE: Meet Hootie, an approximately one-year-old carrier pigeon. We know what you’re thinking and just hear us out… carrier pigeons can be great pets, too! They’re smart, easy-going birds that quickly learn routines. While we don’t know how or when Hootie’s routine went awry, we do know she was lucky to end up on a good Samaritan’s doorstep who noticed Hootie wasn’t like other birds in the wild – they were very social and easy to handle. Pigeons can be emotional birds and need a BFF, whether it’s another bird or human, to spend their days with. And while you don’t need to be an expert with birds to adopt Hootie, some experience with feathered friends is preferred. Interested in adopting Hootie? Come speak with one of our adoption counselors, or email adoptions@vhslifesaver.org.
