A QUICK NOTE FROM THE EDITOR

Well, there's no turning back; it's officially fall. Many of you out there are surely celebrating the cooler weather and burst of colors, but I am in mourning. Always difficult to accept that I must wait another eight months or so for my favorite season to return. Long story short, please send your thoughts and prayers my way, if you don't mind. Granted, there are more deserving people - you know, people in actual crisis and whatnot - but it never hurts to ask. But let's call a spade a spade here - a number of you are fans of the fall primarily for one reason: Halloween. Hey, I get it. While I'm not totally sold on the actual holiday at my advanced age, I totally dig horror movies. And not just the Halloween franchise - I'm talking all the classics and beyond. Put a gun to my head and I'll choose The Exorcist above all, but there have been so many great scarefests produced over the years. Which, peripherally, brings me to this month's cover story. To the delight of the tri-state, the mastermind of fear, Phil Wolter, is back for the 43rd year with the Olde Courthouse Catacombs and House of Lecter - two spinechilling yet incredibly fun haunted houses located in downtown Evansville. Literally, the guy's dedicated much of his life to the cause, spending many of his waking hours devising new ways to make the community scream - both with the aforementioned fear and laughter. So check out what Wolter has in store for you this year on page 8. I'm confident you'll be sufficiently creepedout in the best way possible. In addition, we've got interviews with the one and only Duke Tumatoe, Napoleon Dynamite's Efren Ramirez and country star Cole Swindell, plus local music coverage and much more. Happy Halloween! - TE
