In these polarizing times with seemingly no room for compromise, there's at least one thing that everyone can agree on - one thing that unites us all: the love for our pets. Our devotion to our furry friends knows no bounds and, frankly, often dwarfs the affection we show significant others and family members (don't even act like you're innocent). At the end of the day, this is what truly defines us as Americans and separates us from other cultures, right?
Now that we've established some simple facts, let's get right to the heart of the matter: How can you include your beloved pet in the

most important moment of your life? Naturally, it only makes sense to share your wedding day with the whole family - not just the humans. And your furry friend or friends will

surely pay you back in spades with no shortage of wet kisses and adorable tail-wagging. (This is assuming you are making Fido or Rover a part of the proceedings. In reality, couples have been known to bring all sorts of animals to the ceremony - from birds to cats and beyond. Some of you might even recall an episode of the King of Queens that featured a monkey walking down the aisle when Doug and Carrie renewed their vows. Just a thought.)
Dress your pet in festive or formal attire When you make your pets part of your big day, why not make them match the wedding party! From bow ties to flower collars, there are tons of ways to make your pet look the part.
So for those of you wanting to include animals in your ceremony, here are some ideas that will make your wedding day even more special.
WALK DOWN THE AISLE WITH YOUR PET Make them part of your special day by letting them join in on the fun!
Bring your pet to the getting ready suite Nothing calms your nerves more than kisses from your favorite furry friends! Bring them with you while you get ready and your stress will melt away.

Add illustrations of your pet to invitations, stationery, napkins, bar menus, pillows Custom made invitations add just the right amount of elegance to your day, but incorporating your pets into them will make for some pretty spectacular wow factor! Don't stop at invitations, get creative and have special drink menus made, pillows and even napkins!
Have ring holders or a cake topper made in the image of your pet
Have your pet accompany you at the altar
Want to make your pets part of your day without having them be present? Getting custom cake toppers made is the perfect way to do just that.
When your pet is an important part of your life, having them up at the alter with you when you say your 'I Do's' could be something special that you will cherish forever.
Dance together with your pet
Make your pet the ring bearer
If the church or venue where you hold your ceremony doesn't allow pets, you can always bring them to the reception! And what would be better than sharing a first dance with your furbaby?
What's cuter than a pooch carrying a ring down the aisle? Nothing! If your pet is trained well enough to carry a cute pillow down the aisle, this could make for a big moment that will have your guests talking for days!

TWO TOP AREA PERFORMERS WED THEIR PARTNERS IN LATE 2019
T
he tri-state music scene has been humming right along over the last few years, gaining momentum with every strum of a guitar and
every emphatic vocal. Seemingly out of thin air, a number of talented new artists and bands have appeared to ensure the future looks bright, while veterans like Angel WilderRhodes and Steve Tyner continue to show everyone how it's done - the former as an in-demand, primarily solo performer (occasionally backed by the Traveling Gents) who gigs tirelessly at area bars and restaurants and the latter as both an in-demand producer via Black Cat Recording and the frontman for popular cover band Jenny's Bad Hair Day. And there's kismet at work here, because not only did Tyner produce Wilder-Rhodes' 2019 debut EP Phoenix - 4K downloads and counting, by the way - but these two musical maestros both said "I do" just weeks apart as 2020 was fast approaching, tying the knot with their partners and finding that life is now totally in tune.

but when she turned around, I was down on one knee." Spoiler alert, Angel accepted said proposal and the wedding planning commenced. A date was chosen - November 23, 2019 - along with a beautiful venue up in New Harmony, the RappOwen Granary. Catering, always a challenge, turned out to be a breeze since Angel bartends at Stoner's Grill; they handled everything. But that doesn't mean it was all smooth sailing - far from it. "Planning was way more than I thought it was going to be - it was a nightmare," Angel laments. "I thought that running my music business for five years would have prepared me, but it was very strenuous. Look at the photos - before the wedding I like look I'm ready to shoot people; afterwards, I'm all happy." Of course, the whole wedding party had downed numerous mimosas by then so that certainly didn't hurt. By all accounts, the ceremony went off relatively hitch-free, but Zach made sure it was memorable by both knocking over a wedding cake and providing some comic relief during the ceremonial garter removal & toss. As far as the latter hijinks are concerned, we'll let Zach do the honors. "I went and got a pair of men's 6XL tighty whities and then got a chocolate chip and put a brown streak on the back of it," he explains with a mischievous grin on his face. "I pretended to take that off instead of the garter. Angel knew something was up because I was under there for a long time." Oh, and Zach kindly wrote her name on the back of the over-sized underwear with a sharpie to avoid any confusion of ownership. Post-ceremony, a DJ revved things up before both the Traveling Gents and Angel's longtime blues rock project Deja Blu 5 jammed together. She even dedicated a Shania Twain song to Zach since he's a bit of a country guy - classic country, mind you. Simply put, the whole day was a huge success so we'll end there and spare you the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the happy couple's honeymoon to the Dominican Republic E. coli, anyone? Yikes. Best of luck to Angel and Zach in 2020!

ANDREA & STEVE TYNER Appropriately enough, the Tyners met through a mutual musician friend back in 2011 not too long after Steve returned from a stint in Nashville. He was starting from scratch again, socially speaking, and reconnected with said friend for a hangout session - and guess who just happened to show up? That would be Andrea, of course. Both sides felt an immediate connection and as the Tyners tell it, "we were inseparable after that." Even when Steve decided to up and move again - this time to Boston where an opportunity to live cheaply in an up and coming neighborhood proved too tempting. Without much hesitation, Andrea signed on, content to leave Evansville behind and start anew up north. "I was 23 or 24 and was waiting tables at the time, so I was like, 'sure, let's go,'" she says. Three years later, the Tyners made their way back to Evansville and eventually over a "speed bump" that derailed the relationship for a stretch. In 2015, Steve purchased a home with the two sharing in the renovation - which ultimately led to cohabitation in the finished living space. As it turned out, Andrea had effectively moved into a recording studio - and an increasingly popular one as Black Cat was established and quickly became the goto for local music production. Never fazed her, though. "I was born into noise," she recounts with laughter. "I grew up with musicians - my dad played drums. Literally, I would go to sleep with a drum set under my bedroom. Music's been a part of my life my whole life, so I was obviously going to support him 100%." That unwavering support of not only Steve's music production aspirations but also his frequent live performances with

VENDOR CONNECTIONS It’s amazing the difference having a top-notch
vendor team makes even without a top-notch budget. A good wedding planner can take any wedding to the next level by getting all the different vendors working on the same page. Experienced planners work with all different types of vendors across the spectrum of prices and styles, and knowing how to accommodate their needs and encourage them to bring their 'A' game on the big day can make the difference between a value-based wedding feeling low-budget, and a value-based wedding making you feel like you just won the lottery and all your friends and family got to collect the winnings with you. Knowing who consistently brings their 'A' game to make the most of every wedding they serve, and knowing which vendors are just there to collect a paycheck can save you from buyer's remorse when you write those final checks. We also have a good feel for whether or not a vendor’s prices match their reputation, so we can keep you on-budget, on-time, and away from would-be party-poopers.

BREAKING THE RULES IN
invitation etiquette W I T H BA I L E Y K LO C OW N ER O F BA I L E Y M A R I E S T U D I O
Everyday you see more weddings embracing a modern day approach. Whether it's placing your brother as a bridesmaid or seeing the groom before a ceremony, times are changing. Your wedding stationery doesn't have to follow all the etiquette rules from the past in order to inform your guests. Let’s break some rules!
1 2 3 4
INCLUDING PARENTS' NAMES
Traditionally, a couple will include their parents' names on wedding invitations based on who is hosting. It is an acknowledgment to the parents, an “honor” of sorts. However, you can provide the same acknowledgment without listing every name. “Together with their families” or “along with their parents” can help cut out the confusion that comes from diverse families and not wanting to leave anyone out. It is best to talk this one over with everyone involved to make sure toes are not stepped on.
SPELLING EVERYTHING OUT
It has always been considered proper etiquette to spell out numbers, dates and times. But if you’re feeling like this is just too formal for your big day, don’t hesitate to mix it up. Go with your gut, and just make sure the who, what, when, and where is covered.
REGISTRY INFORMATION
Although it is thought to be in poor taste to include your wedding registry on invitations, it is still something guests like to know. By creating a wedding website, you are able to inform guests of all the extra questions they may still have. Just include your website address on an information card within your invitation.
ADDRESSING ENVELOPES
Does hand addressing all those envelopes seem slightly scary? One option could be to hire a calligrapher if your budget allows it. Another option is to talk with your stationery designer about addressing the envelopes for you. Having your addresses printed on your envelopes with a coordinating font from your invitations looks fantastic and really helps bring together the entire invitation suite. Just remember it is your special day, and it is always up to you which traditions you choose to follow or kick to the curb.
IN VITATION QUESTIONS ANSW ERED WHEN SHOULD WE SEND THEM OUT?
HOW TO POLITELY SAY “NO KIDS” AT THE WEDDING?
SHOULD WE GIVE EVERY GUEST A “PLUS-ONE?”
HOW DO I CALCULATE THE DUE DATE FOR RSVP'S?
Plan to send them out eight to ten weeks before the big day. This gives guests enough time to make travel plans and clear their schedules if they live out of town. If you are sending out Save-theDate cards, they should go out six to eight months in advance.
Make sure to address the invitations by guest name, and not “and guest.” If the RSVP comes back with children’s names, make sure to give them a call and explain that the wedding is for adults only and you hope that they will still be able to make it to celebrate.
No, it is perfectly acceptable to invite friends or family members solo if they are not married or in a serious relationship. Make sure the invitation only has their name on it, and they will understand that bringing a “plus-one” is not appropriate.
Usually this date is decided based on when your caterer needs to know a final head count. With most catering companies they will need a two weeks heads up. So it is recommended to have RSVP's returned 3-4 weeks before the big day.

The wedding is over and the honeymoon is behind you. The next chapter in your journey awaits you. For many couples, that means starting a family, or adding to it. Whatever your unique story is, it's important to invest in these memories and milestones just as you did with your wedding. With my professional experience in maternity, birth and newborn photography, I'm here to help eliminate the stress involved when searching for that right photographer. It may seem like the choices are overwhelming, but with a little guidance, you can make the process much easier and even have fun!
PLAN AHEAD After the first trimester, start looking.
DO YOUR RESEARCH You want someone who specializes in this type of photography; someone who invests in their education and is certified and trained to handle and pose newborns; someone who is up-to-date on all vaccines

TRI-STATE BRIDE | KIDS TABLE
In need of something to entertain the kids at your wedding? The best way to make kids (and their parents) happy is to keep them entertained! A few simple additions to the kids’ table can not only be an adorable accent to your wedding decor, but also keep the kiddos smiling and occupied. Here are some creative ways to keep those sweet faces from turning into little disasters. Happy kids, happy parents and happy ever after!
HIRE A BABYSITTER When it comes to keeping them safe, occupied, and under control during the reception, hiring big-day babysitters to keep track of little guests can alleviate the stress on parents and keep the party going strong.
KID FRIENDLY SNACKS Goldfish and juice boxes make the perfect treat to keep little ones from getting "hangry" or eating too many sweets from the cake table.

TRI-STATE BRIDE | NEWLYWED COOKING
NEWLYWED COOKING with Chef Amanda Hancock Amanda Hancock is the former owner of Vecchio's Italian Market in Newburgh and a published author. So, you've tied the knot and now it's time to start experiencing life together on a whole other level. One of the best ways to forge a more perfect union is to spend some QT in the kitchen - there's just something about cooking in tandem that's very special and can lead to a greater understanding of each other. It can also lead to a lot of laughs, of course, and that's just as good. Here's a recipe that takes a little work but the results are clearly worth it. You're definitely guaranteed to feel a sense of togetherness at the end of this culinary adventure (for the best possible effect, pair it with a nice white wine).
Lobster Mac & Cheese INGREDIENTS: 1 pound of cavatappi or other hearty pasta ¼ cup butter 2 ½ cups of WHOLE milk (don’t skimp) Pinch of nutmeg Kosher salt Freshly ground black pepper 1 ½ cups of shredded white Cheddar cheese 1 cup shredded Fontina ¾ cup of freshly grated Parmesan cheese, divided (Do not use the stuff in the green can!) 1 pound cooked lobster, roughly chopped ½ cup Panko breadcrumbs 1TBS extra virgin olive oil ¼ cup chopped parsley or chives, for garnish
48 | TRI-STATE BRIDE 2020
DIRECTIONS: • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. In a large pot of salted, boiling water, cook the pasta until al dente. Drain and set aside. (Quick tip - if you lightly coat your pasta it won’t stick together) • In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt butter, sprinkle the flour and cook until slightly golden - don’t forget to stir! Season with nutmeg, salt and pepper and let simmer until thickened. • Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the Cheddar, Fontina, and ½ cup of the Parmesan and whisk until smooth. Fold in the lobster and pasta and transfer into a 9x13 inch baking dish. • In a medium bowl, combine the Panko, the remaining Parmesan, and oil. Season with salt and pepper and sprinkle over the pasta. Bake until bubbly and golden, 20-25 minutes! • Top with either the fresh chopped flat-leaf parsley or chives. I know this sounds like a lot, but the flavors are WAY better than if you order it out somewhere. Cook it with your partner and make this a romantic experience!

TRI-STATE BRIDE | WEDDING PLANNING
LAST FLING before the ring!
Vegas is wonderful, but Bachelorette Parties can come in all shapes and sizes. Each brideto-be has different interests, so grab your girls and plan a party she will enjoy. Here are a few ideas to get the party planning started.
beMAID the best of HONOR
Here are a few tips to make sure your BFF gets hitched without a glitch!
Invite the mother of the bride to this one!
WINE TASTING
Find a vineyard close to home, or make plans to travel for a wine-filled weekend away. Rent a limo and plan out your stops for a fun day of sipping with the girls!
CAMPING
With a bunch of ladies, this may be more like "glamping." Pack up and head out for a weekend off the grid. Those campfire stories will definitely tighten your girl squad bond.
BE THE BRIDE'S GO-TO GAL Reassure her that you're there for the fun moments but also the stressful ones, too. TRY TO ATTEND EVERYTHING Make yourself available to attend pre-wedding activities, especially bridal showers and bachelorette parties! KEEP TRACK OF GIFTS When the bride opens her gifts, you can jot down who got her what so she can write her thankyou notes later on.
SPA DAY
Schedule a group session with your favorite spa and have all the ladies join in maximum relaxation. The bride isn't the only one that needs some pampering!
SLEEPOVER
Have a throwback sleepover, just like you did in gradeschool. Bring all your cheezy chick-flicks plus popcorn and wine. Plot out a master-plan to "TP" the best man's house.
Turn this one into a couples party!
MUSIC FESTIVAL
Does the bride love music? There are so many music festivals throughout the year not far from the tri-state. Take a trip to Pilgrimage in Nashville, TN or Forecastle in Louisville, KY!

COOKING CLASS
Find a local cooking class and register for a private party. Not only will you learn something useful, but you won't even have to do the dishes when it's over!
KEEP EVERYONE ON TRACK Help to make sure that everything is running smoothly and on time, including hair and make up appointments for the bridal party. HOLD THE BOUQUET Hold on to the bride's bouquet during the ceremony. While you're at it, fluff that dress so her pictures turn out fab! MAKE SURE THE BRIDE EATS AND DRINKS With all the hustle and bustle, it will be easy to skip eating or get dehydrated. Make sure to check in and offer snacks to keep her going through the night. BE A PERSONAL RESTROOM ATTENDANT That dress may be beautiful, but she'll definitely need a helping hand when lifting it to use the restroom!

PLANNING THE PERFECT BACHELORETTE PARTY!
presented by exotica
I
t’s her last party as a single woman. It’s your responsibility to make it a night to remember. Where do you start? With her (and Boudoir Noir’s Exotica), of course!
You don’t want your bride to plan the bachelorette party, but you do want her insights. Does she want a night out in the club, a weekend away or something low key at someone’s home? After the destination has been decided, next set your date, a theme and budget. Make sure that you ask for help from the other bridesmaids - planning this party doesn’t have to put a strain on your life or wallet! The party guest list should also come from the bride and you’ll want to send ‘Save the Dates’ out two-months in advance and the invitation one-month out. On to the fun stuff… Whether you’re staying in or hitting the town, make sure your bride stands out from the crowd. A sparkly tiara, bride sash and veil will do the trick. Don’t leave out the bridal party and guests - try cute badges, buttons or broaches for each attendee.
Don’t forget to add some crazy fun games like Bride-to-Be Flip, Sip Truth or Dare, the Bride-to-Be Ultimate Roll Dice game or take it on the road with the Bachelorette’s Bar Challenge card game! If staying in, make the most of your space with banners, balloons, napkins & plates. And don’t forget those drinking straws and Jello-shot/ice cube trays, cookie cutters, candy and cake molds (of that certain male anatomy)! And while the party doesn’t have to be about presents, the bride would surely love a few sexy pieces of lingerie or a surprise bag full of goodies to kick her honeymoon off! Boudoir Noir’s Exotica is your Bachelorette Headquarters - here to make party planning easy. Stop in today at 4605 Washington Ave., or shop online at BoudoirNoir.com. Here’s to a night she’ll remember…
