Enjoy the Cold Winter
in Onsen in North Kansai Located across the northern part of Kyoto Prefecture and the northern part of Hyogo Prefecture, North Kansai has many onsen sites. The area is popular not only for onsen but also for fresh local crab from the Japan Sea, especially in winter. The surrounding area also has lots of nature and historical sites to see.

Kinosaki Onsen 城崎溫泉 | 기노사키 온천
This popular onsen town is a picturesque setting for people wandering around relaxed in yukata cotton kimono and geta wooden clogs. While visiting seven drop-by onsen facilities, you can enjoy various amusements, shopping, eating, and drinking at recreation halls, shops, and stores. The area along the river lined with willows is popular as a representative landscape of Kinosaki, which also offers a wonderful snow-covered landscape in winter. At the back of the onsen town, you can take Kinosaki Onsen Ropeway to the mountain top, from where you can see the onsen town and the Maruyama River. At Genbudo Park in the area, you can see beautiful shapes of rocks created by volcanic activity. 穿上浴衣踩著木屐，優雅漫步於夜晚的熱鬧溫泉街，形成一幅美 麗構圖。在巡遊 7 個外湯 （公共浴場） 的同時，還能在遊藝場或商店購物、 用餐。河川沿岸垂柳搖曳的光景，也是城崎具代表性的熱門景觀。此外，
城崎的冬季雪景也是引人入勝的絕色美景。 溫泉街後方設有城崎溫泉纜車，遊客可以從山頂俯瞰溫泉街及圓 山川。另外，在附近的 「玄武洞公園」 可以欣賞到因火山活動生成的岩石 獨特的造型美感。 인기 온천 마을로, 밤에는 유카타와 게다 차림으로 산책할 수 있습니다. 7개의 야외 온천을 돌아다니면서 오락 시설과 쇼핑, 음식을 즐길 수 있습니다. 버드나 무가 흔들리는 강변은 기노사키를 대표하는 인기 풍경으로, 눈 내린 겨울 경치 는 더욱 아름답습니다. 온천 마을 안쪽에는 기노사키 온천 로프웨이가 있어 산정상에서 온천 마을과 마루야마강을 조망할 수 있습니다. 또, 가까이에 있는 ‘현무 동굴 공원’에서는 화산 활동으로 생긴 바위들의 조형미를 감상할 수 있습니다.
This onsen has one of the highest spring water temperatures in Japan. The hot spring source is called “arayu” – it has as much as 470 liters per minute of hot spring water at a temperature of 98 degrees Celsius gushing out.You can also boil eggs to make delicious “onsen tamago.” Along the river near arayu, there is a foot bath facility as well as an onsen facility (Refresh Park Yumura), where you can soak in a hot spring wearing a bathing suit.
Yumura Onsen 湯村溫泉 | 유무라 온천
日本首屈一指的高熱溫泉「湯村溫泉」 。溫泉源頭為溫度高達 98 度，被 稱為「荒湯」 的高溫溫泉，每分鐘湧出 470 公升溫泉水。遊客還能在這裡 自己煮溫泉蛋唷。荒湯附近的河川沿岸也有足浴溫泉設施、以及能穿著 泳裝入浴的溫泉設施 （REFRESH PARK YUMURA） 。

Amanohashidate Onsen 天橋立溫泉 | 아마노하시다테 온천
Appearing in Japanese mythology with its mysterious shape, “Amanohashidate” is ranked as one of the Three Most Scenic Spots in Japan. The view from Amanohashidate View Land is just gorgeous. In addition to the natural scenery, the area has lots else to see, including historic Kono-jinja Shrine, making this onsen a perfect hub for sightseeing. Famous for making the skin beautiful, Amanohashidate Onsen’s water is characterized by its slightly brownish-red color. The winter delicacies of this area include not only famous crab but also winter yellowtail, which is great in shabushabu.
在日本神話中也曾登場過，造型神秘的日本三景之一「天橋立」 。從天 橋立 View Land 眺望出去的景色，令人震撼且印象深刻。這裡除了欣賞 美景，還有歷史悠久的元伊勢籠神社等眾多著名景點，相當適合做為觀 光據點。天橋立溫泉以具有美膚效果聞名，其特徵為略帶茶褐色的溫泉 水。說到冬季名產，當然還有螃蟹啦！此外，寒鰤涮涮鍋也是不容錯過 的美味真饌唷。 신비로운 지형으로 일본 신화에도 등장하는 일본 삼경 중 하나 ‘아마노하시다 테’. 아마노하시다테 뷰랜드에서 내려다보는 경치는 매우 아름답습니다. 또, 역 사 깊은 모토이세고노신사 등 볼거리가 많아 관광 거점으로도 최적입니다. 미 용 효과가 있다고 알려진 아마노하시다테 온천은 옅은 다갈색을 띠는 것이 특 징입니다. 겨울 명물인 게는 물론 겨울 방어 샤브샤브도 맛있습니다.

夕日浦溫泉 | 유히가우라 온천 With its efficacy for making the skin nice and smooth, Yuhigaura Onsen is popularly called “Onsen for Beauty.” Facing the Japan Sea, the onsen town has a beautiful sand beach for eight km along the coast. The sunset over the horizon creates a romantic atmosphere, attracting lovers. It beautifully enhances the contrast between the silhouette of strange-shaped rocks and lapping waves. 夕日浦溫泉因其有使肌膚光滑細膩的效果，故享有 「美人湯」 之美譽。面向日本海，美麗的沙灘在海岸 線綿延 8 公里長。夕陽沉入水平線彼端的美景，氣 氛絕佳深受情侶們的喜愛。奇岩獨特的輪廓與迎面 撲來的層層浪花，交織成對比鮮明的視覺饗宴。 유히가우라 온천은 피부가 매끈매끈해지는 효과가 있어 ‘미인 온천’이라고 불립니다. 일본 서쪽 바다에 접해 있으 며, 해안에는 예쁜 모래사장이 8km에 걸쳐 이어집니다. 수평선 너머로 지는 석양이 분위기 있는 풍경을 연출해 커플들에게도 인기입니다. 신비한 바위의 실루엣과 밀려 오는 파도의 어우러짐이 아름답습니다.

Mt. Yoshino from Summer to Winter
Rarely shown to the public are the Kongo Zao Daigongen, Japan’s largest “Three Hidden Buddha” statues, designated nationally as Important Cultural Property. Each spring, three statues of the guardian deity, Kongo Zao Daigongen, are put on temporary display. The apparition of the god, Kongo Zao Daigongen, appeared before En no Gyoja, the ascetic and founder of Shugendo, after his 1,000-day ascetic training on the top of Mt. Kinpu about 1,300 years ago.
Touted as one of Japan’s best cherry blossom viewing spots since ancient days, Mt. Yoshino begins at the northern tip of the Omine Range and stretches 8 km south across the slopes. The spring cherry blossoms precede the early summer hydrangeas, which, in turn, are embraced by lush summer greenery, ideal for what the Japanese call “forest bathing,” or immersing oneself in the restorative air of the forest. With the arrival of autumn, hikers are drawn to the trails and pilgrims to the temples and shrines. The ropeway overlooks breathtaking views of red, yellow and orange foliage, in contrast to the pale pink cherry blossoms of spring. Magical, of course, is the evening light-up. Autumn events from September to November accent the season. Winter settles in with a serene and silvery transformation, a calm contrast to the vibrant energy that lasts from spring to autumn. On February 3, Setsubun-e takes place at Zao-do Hall of Kinpusen-ji Temple, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Setsubun-e is a ceremony for Setsubun, the day before the beginning of spring on the Japanese lunar calendar. On February 2, oni, or ogres, parade through the town. 自古以來，吉野山就是知名的日本第一賞櫻勝地。而所謂的吉野山， 即意指自大峰山巒北端向南延伸約 8 公里長的稜線一帶。春暖櫻開之 後，就有繡球花緊接著爭相競妍，夏天綠樹成蔭的山上更是絕佳的森林 浴好去處。 楓林盡染的群山，讓遊客們能在遊覽寺廟神 社的同時，還能享受到健行之樂。相較於春天的粉 櫻山色，宛若燃燒般的秋山紅葉、以及橙黃桔綠更 是毫不遜色。不光是從纜車上所欣賞到的景色宜 人，夜間時分的燈飾光景更是引人入勝。9 ～ 11 月 期間，還會舉辦秋季慶典活動。 進入冬季的白銀世界後，這裡將悄悄地披上 靜謐莊嚴的氛圍，能夠感受到不同於春至秋季期 間熱鬧氣氛的迥然意趣。每逢 2 月時，被列入世界 遺產的金峯山寺藏王堂將會舉辦節分會（日本的春 分） ，遊客可在此見到鬼怪們漫步於街道中的光景。
日本最大的秘佛 金剛藏王大權現（重要 文化財） 每逢春天都會在一定期間，特別開龕秘佛 御本尊。金剛藏王大權現是從現在算起的 1300 餘年前，役行者在金峯山山上之岳達 到第 1 千天的修行時，所感悟到的權現佛。
일본 최대 비불 금강 자오다이곤겐(중요 문화재) 매년 봄에는 일정 기간 비불본존을 특별 공개합 니다. 금강 자오다이곤겐은 지금으로부터 1300 여년 전, 엔노교자가 긴푸산에서 천일 동안 수행 하여 깨달음을 얻은 곤겐(일본에서 신을 일컫는 호칭의 하나) 입니다.
예로부터 일본에서 제일 가는 벚꽃 명소로 알려진 요시노산. 요시노산은 오미네렌산의 북 쪽 끝에서 남쪽으로 약 8km 에 걸쳐 이어지는 산등성이 일 대를 가리킵니다. 벚꽃이 지면 여름에는 수국이 만발하며, 신 록에 둘러싸인 산은 삼림욕을 하기에 좋습니다. 가을이 되면 산은 붉게 물들 고, 신사와 불각을 돌며 하이 킹도 즐길 수 있습니다. 봄의 여린 벚꽃색과 대조적으로 불타오르는 듯한 빨간색, 노란색, 주황색이 산을 물 들입니다. 또, 로프웨이에서 바라보는 경치가 매우 아름다우며, 밤에는 라이트 업 이벤트도 감상할 수 있습니다. 9~11월에는 가을 축제가 열립니다. 한겨울에는 새하얀 은빛 세계가 펼쳐집니다. 고요하고 엄숙한 분위기 속에서 봄부터 가을에 걸친 활기와는 또 다른 느낌을 즐길 수 있습니다. 2월에는 세계 유산 긴푸센지 자오당에서 절분 행사가 열리며, 일본 요괴인 오니가 마을 거리 를 행진하는 광경도 볼 수 있습니다. The Setouchi region refers to the coastal area of the Seto Inland Sea and consists of that sea and coastal areas of several prefectures – Hyogo, Okayama, Yamaguchi, Tokushima, Kagawa and Ehime. Okonomiyaki (savory pancake), Kobe Beef and oysters are some famous foods of the Setouchi area, but this time, we would like to introduce you to its local foods that the att.JAPAN editors explored when they actually visited there. Also, there are many sakagura (sake breweries) in the Setouchi area, so we will pick up some local sakes made in those areas, local specialty products made with sake, and events featuring sake.

Sanuki udon 讚岐烏龍麵
Kagawa Prefecture is so famous for its udon noodles that it is called a “the udon prefecture.” Flour and salt are ingredients of udon, and Kagawa has long been producing them. The area is dotted with Sanuki-udon shops (Sanuki is the old name of Kagawa Prefecture), and they have various menu items using lemon and sudachi from Setouchi, and others using raw egg and black pepper. The tempura eaten with the udon is delicious, too! 盛產小麥及鹽等烏龍麵材料的香川縣，由於烏龍麵名滿天下，甚至被稱為 「烏龍麵縣」 。縣內隨處 可見大量讚岐烏龍麵 （讚岐：香川縣的舊國名） 店林立，不僅有使用瀨戶內的特產檸檬及酸橘的 版本，還有加入生蛋及黑胡椒的變化版本。搭配烏龍麵食用的天婦羅也十分美味！

Thanks to high-quality water from springs, which is suitable for sake brewing and obtained from the Sanuki Mountains in the southern part of the Kagawa Prefecture, there are six breweries in the prefecture, including Kawazuru, Kinryo, and Ayagiku. It is said that local sake from Kagawa Prefecture goes well with udon.
位於香川縣南部廣闊的讚岐山脈，其優質湧泉非常適合用於釀酒，縣內設有川鶴、金陵及綾菊等 6 間酒廠。香川縣的當地美酒似乎也很適合搭配烏龍麵呢。

Kawarasoba 瓦片蕎麥麵
This is a local dish of Shimonoseki City. Chasoba noodles are placed on a hot kawara (tile), topped with ingredients, such as salty-sweet sliced beef or shredded egg strips. It is eaten with warm soy sauce-based soup. The crispy taste of the singed noodles is the key to the taste of kawarasoba. 瓦片蕎麥麵是下關市的鄉 土料理。將茶味蕎麥麵盛在 熾熱的瓦片上滋滋作響，再 鋪上施以甜辣調味的牛肉 絲及蛋絲等配料，搭配溫熱 的沾麵醬汁享用。煎得脆香 的麵鍋巴也是瓦片蕎麥麵 的美味之處。

There has been a lot of sake production from long time ago in Akashi thanks to the nice climate, high quality water and quality rice production. And now, its whiskey is also attracting attention. “Akashi” is whiskey created by toji, experts of Japanese sake production, and has fans all over Japan.

A local food that puts demiglace sauce on a pork cutlet. The smooth demiglace sauce that is similar to miso sauce disguises the fattiness of the cutlet, so you will be eating a lot of rice before you know it. 將多明格拉斯醬 （半釉汁） 淋在炸豬排上享用的當地美食。多明格拉斯醬宛如味噌 般的溫和口感，不僅去除炸豬排的油膩且非常下飯。

Okonomiyaki 什錦燒
A local food that is grilled on an iron plate and is made of flour, cabbage and any ingredient you like, such as meat or seafood. It’s different from other okonomiyaki in the point that it has noodles in it. Try different kinds of local okonomiyaki: some use local oyster; famous sake spot Takehara’s okonomiyaki is added with sake lees to make it taste mild; and minced meat is used in that of Fuchuyaki, which has a crispy texture. 混合小麥粉、高麗菜、肉及 海產類等喜歡的食材，在鐵 板上煎熟後享用的當地美 食，添加麵條的調理方式為 其特徵。除此之外，也有加 入廣島特產牡蠣的、而酒鄉 竹原則以酒糟入菜增添香 醇圓潤，還有加入絞肉強調 香脆口感的美味府中燒等 不同做法，請盡情品嚐充滿 當地特色的什錦燒。

Hiroshima Prefecture cultivates excellent rice for sake and is also blessed with soft water. This rice and water make the local sake rich and mellow. Why not compare sake from Nada, another famous sake producing area in Setouchi, which uses hard water? Liquor using juice of sudachi, Tokushima’s local citrus, has a refreshing flavor. Drinking a chilled one straight is fine. On the rocks or with soda are also good.

Liquor of sudachi
This is a local specialty of Tokushima made by adding sweet simmered kintoki beans and shrimp tempura to okonomiyaki. The sweetness of the kintoki beans matches the sweet but salty taste of the okonomi-sauce surprisingly well, and you will get hooked on the taste. This combination is unique to Tokushima Prefecture, where it is said that people developed an affinity for sweets precisely because the area had a lot of salt fields.

A local food famous in Imabari City. Grilled pork and half-fried egg are put on rice with a sweet and spicy sauce. The yolk of the halffried egg blends with the roast pork and stimulates the appetite. 在今治市備受喜愛的當地美食。 是一種將叉燒及半熟煎蛋鋪在白 飯上，再淋上甜辣醬汁的蓋飯。半 熟蛋的黏稠蛋液裹著叉燒肉，令 人垂涎欲滴。

There are also great dishes unique to Naruto, blessed with abundant nature.
Tidal current of Naruto “Uzushio,” a tidal current generated by tidal variation, reaches a peak as large as 20 meters in diameter during tides in spring and autumn, which is said to be biggest in the world. You can look down at the powerful tidal current directly above from the walking path under the beam of Onaruto Bridge or experience the whirling current close-up from a ferry.

Naruto wakame grown in Naruto Strait is great in color, aroma, and texture! A shabu-shabu dish of freshly-harvested wakame, which is only available at its producing area, is simple but exquisite! The season is in February and March.

One of the “Three Great Gardens of Japan,” this is a large garden created by the domain lord of Okayama about 300 years ago. From winter to spring, 150 camellia trees and 100 red and white plum trees are fully blooming. Characterized by a series of five wooden arch bridges across the wide river and with a total length of almost 200 meters, Kintaikyo Bridge was completed in the late 1700s as a wooden bridge that could withstand being carried away by waters. The unique structure, which is rare around the world, is a testament to the wisdom and passion of the builders of previous ages. It is one of the “Three Great Bridges of Japan,” and the area along the river is beautifully decorated with cherry blossoms in spring, a breathtaking scenery. 春天的吉野山
Mt.Spring Yoshino
Mt. Yoshino is renowned for its picturesque swaths of cherry blossoms. Blooming begins at the Shimo-senbon level and moves gradually upward to Oku-senbon until the mountain is resplendent in elegant pink. Scenes that poets have praised over the ages appeal to people even today. Lit up at night, the trees appear almost magical compared to their daytime look. The cherry trees on Mt. Yoshino are mainly of the ancient variety. Today, the slopes are crowded with 30,000 trees of about 200 specimens, including the Shiroyama zakura. The pale pink blossoms cover the ridges and valleys, and pretty much the whole mountain. Best season: mid-April

A special public viewing of the principal Kongo Zao Daigongen statues will run from March 28 to May 6, 2020 at Zao-do Hall on the grounds of the Kinpusen-ji Temple. During this period, night viewing of the statues will be held on selected dates, exclusive to guests staying at hotels in Mt. Yoshino. The doors will be closed, candles will light the hall, the only sounds will come from the Buddhist chants (shomyo). This is an unusual opportunity to gaze at the statues up close and pray in the stillness of the night. (3,000 yen, limited to reservations from the first 100 persons staying at hotels in Mt. A flea market held in the precincts of Chion-ji Temple of Hyakumanben, in front of Kyoto University, on the 15th of each month. Originated in 1987 as a place where amateur creators presented their handmade works, now about 450 shops sell their handmade foods, clothes, and other original goods. Selling goods that are not handmade is banned, which makes the fair unique and different from other flea markets.
