Kavita Trust for the last seven years, has given golden opportunity to lovers of poetry to savour the richness in poetry, to understand and analyse poetry. This has created a conducive atmosphere to read and write poetry. Kavita Fest, annual poetry festival is here again, with more number of participants this year. The year that has just passed was filled with many poetry related activities. • Kavita Fest – 2013 (13.01.2013) Kavita Fest 2013 was held in the courtyard of Vishwa Konkani Sardar Shri Basti Vaman Shenoy residence. It was held in association with Konkani Language and Cultural Foundation and Kannada and Culture Department, Govt of Karnataka. Mr B. A. Two papers on “Social Responsibility of a Poet” were presented by Maxim Lobo and Nutan Sakhardande. 21 youth participants took part in the finals of Rohan and Lavita Monteiro Poetry Reciting competition. Post lunch was the multi-lingual poetry session, presided by poet Uday Mhambro. Wilma Bantwal, Geo Agrar, Stany Bela, Indu Gersappe, Dr L Sunitha Bai, Ashok Bhonslo, Amrita Atradi, Ashraf Apollo, V. In association with “Derebailchem Ful” parish bulletin, a workshop was held in Derebail Mangalore. Melvyn Rodrigues, was the main speaker at the workshop. 25 people participated in the workshop from Derebail. Poetry session followed the workshop. • Young Poetic Rays – 14.11.2013 This programme was held in cooperation from Vincent Pinto Angelore and his family. The programme was held mainly for children. Dalon Pinto, Alson Pinto, Anon D’Souza, Laxim Pinto, Joswin Pinto, Kelvin Pinto, Delicia Pinto, Elvin Pinto, Kritan D’Souza, Rayan D’Costa, Chandrima Monteiro Vamanjoor, Prithuma Monteiro Vamanjoor, Annalisa D’Silva Bondel, Shyna D’Silva Bondel, Sweedel D’Silva Shaktinagar and Austin D’Cunha Bejai read their poems. There were 12 programmes held in the last year, which aimed at spreading awareness on poetry.
