OnSeptember9, Lion Bonnie and I attended the Council of Governors meeting in East Peoria. Wehada great time talking and exchanging ideaswiththeotherGovernorsfrom theotherdistricts.OnSeptember12 Ihadthepleasureofswearinginmy brother Bruce to the Worth Lions. On September 13 we attended the District 1A Candy Day Jamboree. Thisfunctionwaswellattended,and the guest speakers were very informative. I and 3 other Worth Lions golfed in the Chicago Heights golf outing on September 14. I swore-in a new member at the Chicago Ridge Lions meeting on September 15. We were lucky

enough to attend a fundraiser for the Palos Lions at Silver Lakes. The Region 5 meeting was held on September 22, it was a great meeting where we were able to share ideas with other clubs. Onthe 23 we attended the LIF Gala at the Westin. We had a great time gambling and talking to the other lions from around the State. Lion Trishdidawonderfuljob.Thankyou to all of the volunteers that helped with the Gala. On September 25 we made our way to the StickneyForest View 5K Run and then onto the Willow Springs Lions Lionesses for their pancake breakfast. My calendar is nearly full for the month of October. I will be out on the streets shaking my can on October 14 for candy day. This is a great time to collect some money

for the Illinois Foundation and let othersknowwhoLionsareandwhat we do.

ForthemonthofSeptember,weare a plus 38 members and for the year we are up 57 members. This shows me that the Lions in the District are promoting Lionism and attracting

new members. Please make sure to report your service projects. Thank you for your hard work promoting Lions.

I am attending the State GLT meeting and learn a few new things about Leadership. Starting a new Club, and ways to keep old members happy in your Clubs. We all need to keep in contact with our members. Sometimes we must call them and find out how they are doing and ask them why they are not attending meeting and Lions activities. Input from your Lions members will help you understand what they need as Lions.

The following will be useful to Club Officers, Zone Chairs,and District Governors.

• First Vice District Governors (FDVGs)/District Governors Elect (DGEs)

We continue our new year a plus in membership. Governor Tony’s goal is shown above, together we can continue to grow our membership in District 1 A. The clubs that are engaging their communities with needed services are growing. New members joining are three new members to every one we ’re dropping. That’s a very positive sign for our clubs and District 1 A.

MembershipDevelopment&ClubRebuilding:

We have started some communityoutreach to leaders in the Garfield Ridge, Archer Heights and Clearing communities of Chicago. If you have any family or friends in that area that you think would make good Lions please send their contact information to: jointhelionstoday@gmail.com. But as always, we will follow any leads that might help us develop an area. Don’t hesitate to pass on any information you might have for starting a club.

Member Satisfaction:

We should all be working together on membership satisfaction! Does your club make you feel welcome? Are you communicating with members about meetings and projects you have coming up? Are you providing service to your area? Think about assigning new members a mentor! Make sure you listen to their input! Make paying their dues convenient!

Together we can strengthen our clubs. Stronger clubs provide more service. Clubs growing and providing more service, Strengthens our District and Lions International. TogetherWeCan!
