2015 AUSTRALIAN MUSIC WEEK

AUSTRALIAN MUSIC WEEK

DIRECTORS’ WELCOME Hello and welcome to the inaugural Australian Music Week conference. AMW is the result of some hard work and dedication from a small team who felt the time was right for Sydney to have its own music industry conference and Artist showcase event. It feels from the overwhelming support we’ve received that the Australian music industry agrees with us, and is coming to the party in a big way. Australia is blessed with an abundance of incredible musical talent, talent that we feel needs to be nurtured close to home. The mission of AMW is to create business opportunities between emerging artists and talent buyers within the domestic market, and features over 150 artists of all genres performing close to 250 shows on 18 stages over three days in Cronulla Beach, a town blessed with more than it’s fair share of live music venues within easy walking distance. So if it’s great music you’re after, you’ll find it at AMW no matter what your taste, and hopefully you’ll do some business and make some new friends along the way. On behalf of the organisers, the sponsors, the venues, the volunteers, the crew, and the local community, we welcome you to the inaugural Australian Music Week, may there be many more to follow! Australian Music Week Directors Scott Mesiti, Geoff Trio, Karen-lee Goody, Jon Howell, Ryan Van Gennip, Jad Nakhle, and Richard Buck.

2015 AUSTRALIAN MUSIC WEEK

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 22

FESTIVAL PROGRAM UB40 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

Naming themselves after the unemployment benefit form, UB40 formed in 1978, releasing their debut album ‘Signing Off’ in August 1980 – considered by many to be one of the greatest reggae albums ever released by a British band. It was the start of a career that has since seen the band have over forty UK Top 40 hit singles and achieve sales of over 100 million records, making UB40 one of the most successful British groups of all-time.

The Bamboos 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM Initially inspired by the instrumental raw funk of the late ‘60s and early ‘70s, The Bamboos made waves internationally and were quickly labelled as one of the greatest funk and soul bands of our time. Over five acclaimed albums, their evolution in sound and style has consistently confounded and exceeded expectations, pulling the rug from under the feet of those who like to pigeonhole.

Phil Jamieson 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM Grinspoon’s enigmatic front man brings his acute lyrical observations and self depreciating sense of humour to his solo show, which features Grinners classic tunes and his own solo works both old and new.

The Snowdroppers 2:20 PM - 3:10 PM Unleashing an unpredictable fusion of everything from classic soul and r’n’b, fuzzed-out stoner riff-rock to distorted country, The Snowdroppers have built a loyal fan-base and a reputation for tearing down stages with a shambolic grace all their own.

Caravãna Sun 1:20 PM - 2:00 PM Hot off another successful European tour, juiced up gypsies Caravãna Sun are ready to shake the tiles off the roof with their euphoric songs filled with summer.

Fripps & Fripps 12:30 PM - 1:00 PM Formed in the Woolooware High School music room, local indie rockers Fripps and Fripps continue their meteoric rise with the opening spot on the main stage of HiFi Days.

Chill to the dulcet tones of Hot Potato Band and Gramophone Man - roaming throughout the day. Doors Open: 12:00 PM - No BYO - Tickets available at the gate. Doors Close: 8:30 PM Tickets available from the gate, and from hifidays.com 10
