EDITOR'S NOTE In today’s digital and turbulent landscape, leadership is what people are looking for and to be honest, I cannot see a “my way or the highway” leadership style lasting for too long. Whatever happened to empathy, listening, empowering, teaching, encouraging people to pursue their dreams, take risks and be unapologetically themselves. What happened to that style of leadership? Heart-based leadership is not forgotten. It may be rare but these leaders are the ones who are and will be in HOT demand because this is what people command. I wanted to dive deep and talk about leadership through a different lens. There was only one person that came to mind and that was Rohan Dredge. He is the leader's leader. He changes cultures and people and does it all from the heart. When I met Rohan for the first time, my first impression was "he is fully present in what I am saying". He was all in. WOW!

EVERYBODY HAS PURPOSE IN THEIR LIFE. Mary:
In this issue of Authoritti5.0, the focus is on your leadership voice, and there is no other person on this planet who can talk about this topic with such conviction and passion better than Rohan Dredge, who is a master of his craft. For the past two decades, Rohan has developed leaders, cultures, and tribes that work at deep levels of connection and strong levels of execution. He specializes in sustainable and high-performing cultures that specifically help technical experts become people leaders. He is an author and co-founder of his very successful podcast “For Leaders” and a soughtafter speaker. And today I have the honor of interviewing him.
Mary:
I think we met end of last year, when you and Mike Hardie interviewed me on your podcast and I was immediately struck by how present you were, Rohan! You're all in, your eyes are on the subject matter, and I found that so incredibly delicious. I very rarely see this in professionals like you, especially because we live in a world of instant gratification. I absolutely loved that about you. And I wanted to start this conversation to acknowledge you on that. But before we dive into your genius zone, let’s unpack Rohan first. Tell us your story and why it has led you to do the work that you do today. AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE | 5

Rohan:
I remember my younger brother, Chris, reading an assessment report that I did when I was trying to choose my subjects for year 11. This was a long time ago, by the way, and it said that “Rohan is going to be in his ideal place if he’s working in environments where he’s actually developing people.” This will make sense to people who know me and get to know me because I’ve never been backward in coming forward about my opinion. But really the seeds were sown back in the day to actually see people develop, grow, and transform. Now that started my professional life as a high school teacher,
I’M ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO’S LOVED EVERY ONE OF THEIR CAREERS. I NEVER LEFT A CAREER BECAUSE I DIDN’T LIKE IT OR BECAUSE I WAS BAD AT IT.
and I am still to this day really excited about it. I still am in touch with some of the students I had in year eight and year nine. In fact, I’m doing some work for some of them, and they’ve gone on to really wonderful levels of leadership in their own lives. I did two decades of work in the not-for-profit faithbased space. And in the early 2000s, I started my own corporate practice. Now what’s connected about all those things is that every single one of them is actually about people getting better as people and as people who were doing a particular role or a particular assignment at that time. And I have to say, I’m one of those people who’s loved every one of their careers. I never left a career because I didn’t like it or because I was bad at it. Of course, there are occasions where you do hit a wall where you realize that you’ve got some and you need to An image caption canlimitations, describe the photo accompanying the article navigate through them. somebody who’s loved that deep, deep passion of seeing other people succeed. Now I will never say that I’m perfect at it. I will never say that I’ve got it down. I never say to people, this is the answer. I really love that idea of people’s mindsets and skillsets improving. And that’s what I spend my time doing now as a leadership consultant, coach, and mentor.
Mary:
It’s amazing how, when you connect all the dots, things just make sense. It’s like you’re meant to be doing what you’re doing right now. There’s no other vocation for you, except what it is that you do, which is amazing. So, Rohan, you are pretty devoted to your faith and spirituality. And I love that about you because there’s a huge discipline and power that you acquire when you start to understand and connect with a much higher power than yourself as a physical being, and understand how to use that invisible line. This knowing has served me very well. I know it’s also served you very well, but to truly understand how to design the life, one must understand the meaning of the ego self, the emotional self, the spiritual self. So how do those three aspects of you get you connected to your true self, which clearly has had a huge impact in your success and how you work with clients today?
COVER
Rohan:
Thank you for bringing that up. I think the idea of inviting a spirituality in whatever sense our listeners experienced is a really important part of it. So for me, I come from the background of the Christian faith. It’s been a personal decision and, shall we say, a pilgrimage on that level as well. As I’ve matured in my understanding of what it means for me to be a Christian, it’s impacted a couple of different things. It impacts the way I see people. A number of years ago, I worked with a Catholic client who used this beautiful phrase called “the dignity of the human person.” And I think that was a really wonderful way of saying everybody has value. Everybody has purpose in their life. Irrespective of whether we share the same faith construct or the same view of the world, every single person I come into contact with, lay eyes on, or work with is valuable, is important, is significant, and has purpose, and ought to be seen by me as dignified as possible. My fundamental belief is that people are valuable, they’re worthwhile, they have dignity, and that in caring and leaning into and being present with them, we can actually see their worlds and lives improve. I also think it’s personal. I actually have a very deep commitment to the idea of purpose, to the idea of what my contribution is to the planet that if I don’t do it, there might be a gap. There might be something that somebody misses out on because I don’t step up in courage, I don’t step up in humility, I don't step up in authenticity. So this deep sense of purpose really matters to me. And that sort of drops down to that next level where we talk about the ideas of awareness, authenticity, progress, growth, and transformation. Because when you know that your life’s got a purpose, when you AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE | 7

know that what you’re actually doing lines up with who you’re supposed to be and how you’re supposed to help and how you’re supposed to turn up in the world, there’s an inherent energy that comes with it. There’s a sense of commitment and conviction, and you don’t get knocked off the line of direction all that easily. Not everybody wants what I do, or wants me to work with them, but the people who do get all of me, my commitment. I’ll go home exhausted because I want them to win. It’s cradled in my faith perspective. And so that rejuvenates and energizes me.
Mary:
Do you incorporate that type of philosophy in your leadership program? Are the clients that you work with starting to open their heart and be vulnerable and explore a much greater version of who they really are versus the job description version of who they are or what the world wants them to be?
Rohan:
That’s a wonderful question. And I actually think that particularly with my one-on-one executive clients, where we do essentially leadership and life, and life and leadership, after a while it’s hard to see where those lines blend in and blur, because the truth is, we need to bring our whole selves to work, to the world, to our family, through ourselves. And the more we compartmentalize, the less we actually really get to enjoy a fully integrated life, work, and relationship with our partner and our kids. Jim Rohn famously said, “Wherever you are, be there.” Just before we had this conversation, I was out back of my house, playing games with my kids that they have constructed and made up. And it was like its own sort of fairground. My wife and I had to pay about $12 to the kids to go on the games, and we played them because I promised them that I would do that. Then I ran up the stairs, and now we’re having this conversation. So the answer to your question is absolutely, I see my longterm executive clients open up to a much bigger sense of understanding of an integrated world, and whether that’s classic Christianity or another kind of spirituality, that’s not my decision to make for people. I do notice they become more in touch with their body, soul, and spirit and the integration of those. And I think the more we can do that, the better; I actually think one of the things that’s happened to us over 50 years of work is we think we should be one person at work, one person at home, one person with friends. I think the future of leadership is a much more integrated

perspective and to whatever extent that involves faith and spirituality might go well with you, explore it, understand it, and think of yourself as a whole person, not a compartmentalized one.
Mary:
You and your business partner, Mike Hardie, run a pretty serious leadership program on a global scale. You talk about the 5 Voices, which is a powerful tool that helps people achieve greater selfawareness, better alignment, clear communication, effective delegation, high-performance, and quicker decision-making. Can you share with us what the 5 Voices actually is? How does it actually help an individual, or does it help a team of people? What is the actual core philosophy of 5 Voices?
AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE
Rohan:
As I said earlier, I won’t ever say to somebody that this is the answer, but I will say it is an answer. And I do say that to all of our clients. I will also add in 30 years of people development. Mike and I are rolling this out in APAC and globally with our partners at GIANT Worldwide. As consultant with that organiza-tion, we deliver their IP as well as our own. They have a leadership assessment called the 5 Voices. The voices are a metaphor for how we express, how we capture our leadership tendencies, and how other people experience that. It’s like a version of the MBTI. And it’s very, very human. I say to people it’s the most human, most dignifying, and most transformational leadership tool that I’ve come across in 30 years of leadership development.
COVER
And that’s because it asks some very serious questions, but then gives you the tools, which is what we roll out to the marketplace to actually change your behavior, change your mindset, change the way you function as a team in a fairly quick, situation-solve application. Most people we work with, Mary, are time-poor. They’re intelligent, they’re motivated, they’re ambitious. They’ve got the money to invest into training and development, but what they are is time-poor. So when people understand the metaphor of voices, they understand a couple of really important things. First, it answers the question, “What’s it like to be on the other side of you?” So it asks and answers the self-awareness question. And then it says in a big picture sense, “Okay, what do we

everybody’s super power to the surface.
So there are five voices, and they go from what we call the quietest or the least forceful voice through to the loudest or the most forceful voice. And we are a combination of all five voices, although usually the top two are the two drivers. So voice number one is the nurturer, the voice that cares about people and atmosphere. They’re the people who have that intuitive sense of how everyone’s going and how everyone’s feeling. The second voice is the creative. They’re our futurists and our innovators. They’re the people who can see the opportunities and the obstacles over the horizon. They’re also the people that we need to work really hard with to make sure we understand. The third voice is the guardian, the person who commits to understanding how processes, systems, and efficiencies work.
And my top two voices are the pioneer and connector. I am the loudest voice of the driver. Creative is my third. So I think up ideas. I get annoyed at people who want to slow things down, who want to talk to me about process. I just can’t handle it. It’s no, no, no, no, no. I’m telling you it’s a great idea because it’s my idea, and trust me: This has cost me significantly in the past.
And still going up in order of volume is the connector. They are the networkers, the socializers, the ones that tell the stories that people listen to. And they always know somebody. And then the fifth voice, the loudest, the most forceful voice, is the pioneer. They’re the more strategic, more sort of military, of knowing we’re going to take this mountain type. Is everybody okay with that? Yes. Good. When I want your opinion, I’ll give it to you. I know I’ve taken a little bit of time to explain that, but it’s really important to understand that what matters is knowing what your voice is and understanding the impact that has on other people and then working together collaboratively to bring
I actually have a very deep commitment to the idea of purpose, to the idea of what my contribution is to the planet that if I don’t do it, there might be a gap.
And I’m hoping that things are a little bit different these days, but what Mike and I work hard at doing now with clients is get teams to understand their voice order. Then we teach them the tools. We’ve got near on 95 tools to help with team development, communication, performance, culture, alignment, and execution. And we roll these out. In time, poor environments marrying these tools are having rapid impacts on how teams respect, understand, and work together. It’s a really wonderful experience.
Mary:
I love what you just shared! Rohan, I have two things I want to say, one that we’re not a one-size-fitsall. So you can’t categorize people and say, “Okay, this little blueprint is going to solve all of your problems” because it’s a blueprint. You can’t fit everyone in that blueprint, which is one thing that I’m so passionately against. There are so many gurus selling and pushing their blueprint and making people believe that this is all they need to be successful. And the second thing is that we all have a voice. It’s how we use that AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE |

we’ve been given as a real gift, because words are where the power lies. And people forget this. You’ve been given a gift, which is a voice you said in the best way that matches who you are as a whole person, so you can get the message across. We haven’t been taught this. I mean, God forbid that they would teach this in the school system. This is the stuff that we should be learning in the school system. Don’t you agree?
Rohan:
This is the stuff I teach my kids. And you’re absolutely right. One of the problems that we talk about is, as my partner says, “Everybody speaks, but not everyone is heard.” And so we use the phrase and we say, “We’ve got to work out what your superpowers are, what your kryptonites are, and how we can work together more effectively.” Because if we don’t, what happens is we leverage people’s superpowers and we weaponize their kryptonite. And that is a recipe for disaster, rather than people taking responsibility for their areas of weakness and recognizing that, and then working together more effectively. So again, voice works as a beautiful metaphor, particularly if you use the framework that I’m talking about. If you are at the quiet end of the voice spectrum, you’ll see that pioneers and connectors are disproportionately in leadership roles, thinking they should be telling everybody what to do, not asking, which is really an important style of leadership right now. And we miss out on more than half the contributions people make. So we can be unintentionally closing down other people’s voices. We can be unintentionally stopping people from sharing what they think, what they see, what they feel, what they hear. And we’re finding that this framework and other tools that we introduced really help people have that voice, but also show how to share that voice in a way that’s sticky and in a way that it has traction, why it has authority and in a way that’s correct. Mary:
I think that this is why I struggle with that notion of emotional intelligence and how it’s been introduced in especially the corporate landscape as something that you have to learn. I struggle with this, and I challenge people all the time. I use an example of having a leader who is genuinely a psychopath, because that person has got some deep-seated, emotional issues from a past younger life, and figuring out how to actually check the box and say to that leader, “Oh, you have to be empathetic, and you have to be nurturing, and we can teach you how to be like that.” Because to me, emotional intelligence is not something that you can up-skill. You actually have to dig deep because it lies at a cellular level. You’ve got to deal with that first before you can make decisions on how you want to nurture people. What is your style of emotional intelligence? I feel that we’re bringing in emotional intelligence at a leadership level. This is about understanding feelings and thoughts and belief systems that live at deep in a neuro network and at a cellular level. What is your view on that?
Rohan:
I think you’re absolutely right. If we teach things as a skill that need to be fundamental to our formation as people and as men and women in the marketplace, we might be positioning ourselves to be missing the core part of what we’re actually looking to make, which is, “Do we really care about people? Do we really care about this person? Do we really care about their role and their place in AI and our organization?” So I think if we just made it a checkbox,
AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE
we’re in trouble, because it means we spend the training budget, we get somebody’s game and it doesn’t change anything we do. Over time, this builds a sense of resistance in our organization because they can’t see the point of what they’re actually doing. The second thing I’d add to that, though, is that self-awareness is the foundation of self-leadership and self-leadership is the foundation of leadership. And so on that basis, one of the most important things to do is to understand how to use emotional intelligence or empathy. What is it like to be on the other side of Rohan when it comes to emotional intelligence and empathy? Now, I would like to say 60% of the time it’s probably okay; 20% of the time you can give or take in 20% of that. Well, but my tendency as a leader is to take them out and to run the strategy is to make decisions quickly because I’ve got a confident decision-making strategy, and the problem with that is people feel overlooked. People feel left out. People feel like I don’t care about what they think. So again, let’s stay with the voice metaphor. One of the tools that Mike and I use in our work is this tool called the Rules of Engagement. So whether you have emotional intelligence and empathy or not, the Rules of Engagement says every time you have a discussion and make a decision, you start with the quietest voices first, and you go to the loudest voices last, irrespective of position. We’ve just taught this to a very large national organization, and we’re noticing that they’re beginning to feel the discomfort of the loudest voices not speaking first. And this is where I think it links back to
COVER
emotional intelligence and empathy. We’re noticing that they are experiencing things that say the nurturer voice or the creative voice knows they want to say, but no one’s given them a chance because the emotional intelligence isn’t in the room, the awareness isn’t in the room, the empathy isn’t in the room, we just don't care, or they don’t have a tool. So we say, “Hey, quieter voices, nurturers and creatives. You speak first. Then we’ll go to the guardian. Then the connector, then the pioneer.” And by that time, everybody’s had a chance to speak and share that experience. This lifts the quality and the confidence of emotional intelligence and empathy in a team. So we notice that while people say it’s a priority, it’s really important to have a tool that everybody can do. That’s very empowering and very dignifying. And we find that helps and the more they do it, the more it becomes part of team culture. That’s incredible.
Mary:
That is absolutely incredible and very powerful. And it’s the first time I’ve actually received an answer to my deep conviction around this notion of teaching emotional intelligence as a skill, as a checklist. It’s the most intelligent response I’ve ever received, and I absolutely resonate with it. You’re getting results because you’re coming from the angle of humanizing first, tapping into the heart, the mind, and the spiritual aspect of us as well. I love the notion of starting with a quiet voice first; that is just absolute gold. It’s a game changer. So the last 18 months have been horrendous for humans across the globe. What has changed in AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE |

leadership roles the last 18 months that you have personally witnessed?
Rohan:
I want to give a shout-out to all the HR professionals who are our primary points of contact in the market because their worlds got radically, totally turned upside down, and the values of engagement and safety and employee engagement stayed the same while everybody worked from home. I had a conversation with a client just before the end of the financial year. She said, “I really want to work with you, but I’ve spent all my budget on computers, because that’s the reality.” They have been doing some amazing work with people. So the first thing I noticed is that everybody’s world was turned upside down, and the people who led well were focused on the needs of their people and the needs of the organization first and addressed those problems straightaway. A number of clients
AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE
that we’ve worked with have done an excellent job at that. And those people have made a commitment to helping people feel safe and engaged, while understanding the hybrid environment, which I think is a really big deal. The second thing has probably been 12 months in the making, and that’s the difference in where people sit on the continuum. I call it the COVID continuum because at one end, you’ve got everyone saying they can’t wait to get back to the office. At the other end, you’ve got people who are not missing their two-hour commute, and liking being able to pick up their kids from school or having that flexibility. World-class leaders and thinkers believe that the hybrid workplace is not going away, and I agree with them. So if that’s your position and it is mine, then the question is, “Okay, what’s important? And how do we get it done?” And we say to all our clients, “Because of the hybrid, we’ve got a program coming up called ‘Work

from Hybrid’ where we’re talking about this idea that it’s not going away and how do we do it well, and I think, that’s one of the important things for a leader. And we simply say this, “Anytime you start a conversation that’s virtual, always ask, ‘How are you doing?’ before you ask, ‘What are you doing?’ ” And if that’s all you did for the next 30 days, you would see an increase in connection and engagement in people leaning into the experience. Second, I think you’ve just got to make sure you take time to understand that the COVID environment is difficult, especially if you're in an environment that’s in lockdown. That changes how you feel about your own mental health, about your own energy, about your own sort of sense of productivity. But as long as we can stay empathetic and present to that reality, we can still work together to achieve the outcomes together, to navigate the priorities that we’ve got together. I think we’re going to see some pretty AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE |

magical things happening in the workplace. The third thing is, because our work focuses fundamentally on self-awareness, self-leadership, leadership, communication, alignment, relationships, execution, capability development, we’re finding a lot of interest in how to do that in the hybrid environment in a way that even though we might be a distributed team, we might also be time-poor. How do we actually embed these experiences and tools and languages quickly so that we can become a high-performing hybrid team? And we’re actually finding incredibly enjoyable results with clients around that experience as well.
Mary:
Amazing. Wow, this is just nextlevel stuff, you know, and it really is the future of leadership in all capacities, not in the corporate landscape, but also solopreneurs business owners, and entrepreneurs. This is the future, Rohan. I’ve been in that hybrid environment for the last 16 years, so I know what it’s like. Even when I had my corporate life, I did so much traveling. I was in hybrid environments for so many years that I don’t find this the new normal; it’s always been my normal. So what I love is that people are now coming over to my side of the fence and going, “Wow! There’s a whole new world.” I love that you and Mike have an amazing podcast called “For Leaders” that is available across all platforms. And I’ve been fortunate to be interviewed on that. Who should subscribe to your podcast? Who is that podcast for?
COVER
Rohan:
We want to be really clear about what we’re for or what we’re against. We are for leaders, and what we noticed a year ago when we did some research was that 70% of the organizations we polled didn’t have a clear leadershipdevelopment strategy for their organization for the next 12 months. Those 12 months have passed, and now we’re seeing a whole swag of resignations taking place. So there’s an issue here, and as a service provider, I like it when people buy my services and engage us professionally, because that’s what we do, but not to invest in their people. And I probably should’ve said this earlier about the COVID workplace. One downside of the last eight months is a lot of the training budgets have been frozen or redirected. And I actually think that in a crisis of this magnitude, we should be caring for and training our people, albeit in new ways, on different platforms, and various other approaches. We’re seeing that happen right now. So “For Leaders” is a podcast for leaders because we want to help them grow in communi-cation capability and performance. We interview experts about leadership, and we ask them some key questions. We have a framework, as you know, and we say, “How did you become you? What are the foundations? What are the lessons? What are the observations? And what are the predictions?” They’re the parts of our conversation. And we have had some of the most fascinating leaders – people with psychology backgrounds, people

with CEO backgrounds, authors – and people like you, which was one of the most enjoyable podcast interviews that we did. So when people listen carefully to another person’s expertise, it’s like they’re getting a 45- to 60-minute master class with a leader, and they don’t even have to pay for the coffee. We’re seeing a lot of engagement from people because they’re really enjoying listening to the experiences, the lessons, and the wisdom of the people we’re talking to. We interview a lot of authors, and we try to get to the heart of what they’re talking about, so we get the real sense of the intent and the deeper sense of engagement and understanding for them.
Mary:
So we’ve come to the final part of our interview and I ask every single person I interview this last question: If you could meet one person who is no longer living, who would it be and what would you ask or what would you want to know?
Rohan:
That’s a lot of pressure on somebody who’s got a faith construct. You know, I choose Moses. And then I choose Nelson Mandela, and I choose him for a few reasons. The first is that I spent a year in South Africa as an exchange student after I finished high school. And there is a piece of my heart that loves Africa. One of my best mates lives in Cape Town, and we talk at least monthly. And so I’m reminded of the beauty and the wonder of Africa. Second, I stood in the carpark in Cape Town of the council building where Nelson Mandela was released in 1990; he stood on a balcony, and
AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE
he saluted to the people that he had been released from prison. I stood in that carpark three weeks before it happened. And I’ve tracked and followed his commitment to what I would say was very ambitious leadership change and transformation. And so I would choose him because I would really love to talk to him about how he was able to lead transformation on a national and a global scale, and address the issues of bitterness and unforgiveness that could very easily damage your soul after 27 years in prison. I think what causes a leader to be successful or unsuccessful is not our skills. It’s our spirit, it’s our soul, it’s our formation, it’s leadership from the inside out. And there was something about Mandela that was able to navigate that very well, and I would love to have that conversation with him. Thank you for asking.

When you have always been self employed and you start very young in the business world, it can be hard to find your Leadership Voice. It took me a long time – decades, to realise that yelling my thoughts wasn’t leadership. It took me even longer to separate the BOSS from the LEADER. And then it took the proverbial end of the world to find my Leadership Voice. I hit rock bottom in my business world not too long ago. I went from having the golden touch for 3 decades to dead man walking. It’s not quite as dramatic as it sounds – now that Im in recovery, but it sure as hell felt like it. I lost my flagship store - the cornerstone of my business and the one that started it all, through no fault of my own. Until that time I had never experienced business failure. I bought and sold businesses, started them up, flipped them, invested in them etc etc. And I got it right all the time. Until I didn’t. The site that I had selected – a great business decision because it was LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION all the way, ended up being its downfall because it was on a new transport rail line. We were in a construction war zone for years. I watched my business die a little each day for over one thousand days, until I chose the date of execution. Until that moment, that very last minute when I locked the door for the final time, I had always been a boss. Capable, strong, determined and ambitious. But not a leader. At least not the leader I should have been. And certainly not the leader I am becoming. Now I have a very big voice for a 152cm person. I have spent my career managing crazy male chefs who made Gordon Ramsey look angelic, wielding sharp knives and hot pots. I needed at least one tool (or weapon) that could stand up to that. And that was my voice. It defined me and my boss style. But its not easy on your soul.
BUSINESS
They say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, but since I have always had to be the aggressive assertive boss – on reflection and in hindsight I now realise that I just didn’t know any better, it was more like “If I don’t kill you then then congratulations you made it through the Angela Day”. Yelling worked for me because I was the boss, and everybody knew it. I also knew more than everyone. This is true. Sorry if it sounds egotistical, but its fact. In hospitality it’s a war game every day and every shift. I was the General leading the troops into battle and the last thing they needed (at least that’s what I thought) was a weak wishy washy “leader” who couldn’t make the hard decisions needed each minute. So, the louder I yelled, the more I got done my way. Which just happened to be the right way. Again, not sorry for this. Finding my leadership voice might well be one of my top 3 hardest stuff ever done – alongside being a pall bearer for my father and seeing my brother in hospital after a horrible car accident. Undoing my instinctive reactions after 40 odd years would never have been possible until I lost the very thing that housed the boss voice, so I could find the leader one. When I realised I no longer had an environment that needed a boss, you would think I would realise pretty quick that the boss voice was a useless tool that I could dismiss. No. I held onto it. I hugged it and cloaked myself in it. And I used it – or a version of it, everywhere and on anyone I could. To let it go would mean it was all over. That nothing of the life and the results of that life would be left. My voice conveyed my confidence, my strength and my commitment. That’s how I felt. And I feel a lot. My feelings are my truth and my compass. Also my bullshit detector. Some people call it gut instinct, but for me its always about how I feel.

always getting me the results that I should have wanted. I got results, don’t get me wrong. Im results driven. If I have to carry it on my back or work 50 hours straight or climb the mountain in winter with no shoes, then that’s what I do to get the result. The trouble with that version of leadership is that your dragging people along behind you, not so much with you. My leadership voice is a work in progress Ive decided. Im taking the best of my old boss voice – it wasn’t all bad and weaving it in with my new much quieter but even stronger phoenix edition. My source is the quietness of my feelings – Im comparing them to the difference between a normal car engine and the new electric cars. Silent, but there. Accurate and reliable just like before, but sharper. I feel I have more to offer, more that I can share and a lot more to communicate in positive ways. Realising I was only human 😊 was a shock initially and discovering that my boss voice was no longer an asset was very nearly debilitating. BUT. And yes, there is most definitely a but. My leadership voice changed my outlook not my skillset. It helps me as much as those around me, but that doesn’t mean I’m not the boss anymore. #JustSaying. LOL

Decision-Making:

Would you act any differently if you knew you had a finite number of right decisions to make in a day? Have you been spending much brainpower on decisions that can thrive on autopilot? Can a single decision eliminate the need for a thousand other choices? Perhaps. Let’s find out! What to eat for breakfast? What to wear to work? When to go to bed? Every single day, an average adult makes about 35,000 conscious decisions before bedtime. Do the numbers matter? Of course! The more decisions you make in a day, the more predictably irrational you become. Surprised, eh? Here’s good news: you don’t have to be an average adult!
Fewer Decisions, More Productivity Have you ever wondered why former US president Barak Obama always appeared in gray or blue suits? Or why Mark Zuckerberg still sports his iconic gray T-shirt? Remember Steve Jobs and his black turtlenecks and jeans? Do these high-achievers lack fashion sense? Far from it! The reason is simple: highachievers consistently choose to avoid decisions that are not worthy of their precious time. According to a study at Cornell University, we make 226.7 decisions per day as regards food only – what to eat, where to eat, when to eat, etc. This is perhaps more than we may care to admit! Taking a cue from these highly effective people, we can intentionally pare down our decisions by forming a habit around them.
The Power Of Routines “Civilization advances by extending the number of operations we can perform without thinking about them.” - Alfred North Whitehead
MINDFULNESS
Automatic stereotyped response is the most efficient pattern of behavior, and this is why much of human action stems from it. We exist in an extraordinarily complex environment with numerous stimuli, and to successfully deal with it, we need shortcuts. It is impossible to effectively analyze all aspects of the situations we encounter in a day because we don’t have the time and capacity to do that! As humans, we need to set in motion certain routines that grossly simplify our decisionmaking process and eliminate the need to make some trivial decisions. A routine is one of the most powerful tools that enable us to make better decisions because it frees the mind, availing us with more mental energy that we can divert to decisions that count. Without routines, the pull of nonessential distractions will overwhelm us.
6 Steps to Help You Avoid Decision Fatigues Decision fatigue makes people reckless in making decisions. This could either prompt them to act impulsively or, worse, become indecisive. Whichever way, making an important decision after a series of trivial decisions could create bigger problems. Luckily, here are 6 ways to combat decision fatigue, keep your willpower fresh, and boost your productivity every single day.
1.Make Fewer Decisions Reducing the number of decisions you make in a day is one of the most effective ways to reduce decision fatigue. Establish daily routines that help you minimize and simplify your choices by putting certain decisions on autopilot. For example, you could set a time to sleep and wake-up, have established outfits you rotate each week, have specific days and time you exercise, use automatic bill

2.Delegate Decisions Delegating decision making is similar to delegating tasks. Not only does this act take the burden of the need to micromanage others off your shoulders, but it also makes those you transfer the decisionmaking process believe that you trust them. As a manager, try to delegate some decisions to your employees. Or, if you’re married, consider delegating some decision-making to your children, spouse, or other family members?
3.Make Big Decisions In The Morning The time of the day affects our judgment and ability to make the right decisions. The best time most people make accurate and thoughtful decisions is in the morning. The slope of decision-making becomes steeper as the day rolls by. By noon, most people already start making riskier irrational decisions. So do you have a decision that requires careful consideration? Make it in the morning!
4.Limit Your Options When you have too many choices from which to choose from, the chances are that you’ll become mentally stressed out. For example, consider people who “shop around” to get the “best deal.” Although, in the end, they may save a few dollars, they had emotions ranging from anxiety to feeling overwhelmed. Choosing a particular place where you shop, the brands you buy, etc., could take a lot of burden off your shoulders. Don’t let trivial things drain your energy or overload your brain.
5.Simplify your life So many activities, involvements, hobbies, volunteering, and the likes bogging you down? Simplify your life by cutting things that aren’t impotent! You needn’t involve yourself in so many activities and hobbies that you become overwhelmed. Have only a few tasks that you engage in because you’ll have to make fewer decisions.

Clients who participate in her coaching program are positioned to adapt to change and maintain their competitive edge in all the dimensions of life, including spiritual, intellectual, career, finance, love/ relationship, family, social, and health / fitness.
6.Stop Wallowing in Regret Many times, we get into the trap of trying to delay making decisions because we feel our choices must be “perfect.” Due to the fear of making the “wrong” choices, many people stall decision making so much so that they begin to make those wrong choices they tried to avoid. If you’ve made a wrong decision, learn from your mistakes, and move on. Save yourself from mental stress by focusing on making better decisions. Stop wallowing in the regret of the past. Conclusion Congratulations! Now you have one less decision to worry about, or to state it more accurately, thousands of decisions. Never forget that your highest priority should be to protect your ability to prioritize. Only use your brainpower on things that you consider essential. The rest will do well on autopilot!

GROWING, SCALING AND IMPROVING YOUR BUSINESS
A LEADER’S ROLE IN BUSINESS GROWTH
BY JOHN KNOTTS

AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE
Leaders tend to mostly focus on revenue growth in their business. Growth – adding more customers and making more money – adds complexity to your business. When all you focus on is growth, eventually things in your business start to fracture and break. This is why scaling and improving are important as your business grows. Otherwise, your business starts to bleed like it is suffering from 1000 cuts! Your voice, as a leader, is very important to drive growth in the business. However, there are other areas, which are focused on scaling and improving, where your voice is key.
Strategy The first step in scaling your business is to examine, adjust, and reinforce your business strategy. Specifically, the business leader must drive the business mission, purpose, and vision. These three foundational pieces of your business strategy encourage employee engagement more than anything else in your business. As your business grows, silos form as teams are stood up and technology is added. Ensuring everyone in the silos are heading in the same direction and beating to the same drum is crucial.
Culture In the foundation of your strategy is your mission (what you do), your purpose (why you do it), and your vision (where you are

headed). These three things are important to your culture. However, the most important foundational piece of your strategy are your values. These represent how you behave every day as a business and a person. Values should be more than simply words on the wall. They should dictate who you hire, who you recognize, and who you let go. This means that values are only effective when people are held accountable to them. It is the leader’s job, through their words and actions (voice), that they demonstrate self-accountability and hold others accountable. Accountability starts with walking the talk.
Engagement Employee engagement is a very elusive topic. For over 60 years, business leaders have worked on employee satisfaction, organizational commitment, and now employee engagement. Even with so much focus, we still struggle today with engagement. Having a strong mission, purpose, and vision are critical to engaging employees. This sets the tone for the business. Everyone wants to be part of something bigger than themselves. It is the leader’s job, as highlighted above, to establish and hold people accountable to these things. Otherwise, they will be seen as fake.

important area regarding employee engagement. All communication sucks in business – this is why we always must work at it. The more we communicate, the better. The more leaders communicate, the more those below them will also communicate. The last aspect of employee engagement that benefits from a strong leader’s voice is quality. If your business does not deliver quality products and services to its customers, your employees see this and lose engagement. At the operational level, leaders establish metrics to monitor quality and they set expectations regarding the metrics. Through their actions, they encourage continuous improvement, and they hold accountable those who refuse to meet expectations.

A leader – and specifically a leader’s voice – plays an important role in the growing, scaling, and improving of a business. Although the leader is always pushing growth in their business, they must also ensure the business does not break under the strain of growth. Thus, they focus on all three elements at all times.

PART 2: COMMUNICATION
BY GINA RILEY AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE |

In 1991, I forever changed the way I spoke. I was in college, interning for a top communication trainer who brought me on assignment for a day-long team leadership development consultation at Motorola. “I don’t understand why I can’t get the men on my team to listen to me or give me respect when I speak,” a young female engineer painfully conveyed during the training. I still remember she spoke with a tight, high-pitched voice like Minnie Mouse. The way she spoke and communicated was blocking her ability to capture the attention of her peers and managers. It was most certainly obstructing

subjective opinions about her Executive Presence. According to Sylvia Ann Hewlett, author of Executive Presence: The Missing Link Between Merit and Success, we can shape the way people see and respond to us and shape the perception of our Executive Presence. This article covers the second of the three universal dimensions of EP, Communication (how we speak). In part one, I covered Appearance (how we look), and in the final article I’ll cover Gravitas (how we act). Based on Hewlett’s research, there are six important verbal and

nonverbal aspects of communication upon which we are judged. Communication is about engaging in a way that reduces listeners friction from absorbing your message. You may find it surprising the actual content of what you communicate is the least important aspect of communication. It is inescapable. No matter where you sit in your organization, your communication and presentation skills are constantly being judged. Every single interaction is an opportunity to constructively create a positive impression on your target audience. Once you understand the elements of

communication you can intentionally and powerfully connect, engross, and persuade your target audience. No matter where you sit in your organization or whether you manage a team, I believe everyone can be considered a leader. It is important to understand how verbal weaknesses come at a cost when it comes to people’s perception of our EP. As Hewlett says, “It is not what you say but how you say it. And this you can condition and control.” According to a national study done by Hewlett’s team of over 4000 professionals, superior speaking skills rate most important at 60%. There are three potential shortcomings to be aware of – your accent, grammar, and the timber and pitch of your voice. If you are in a field where oral communication is of the utmost importance, you’ll want to pay attention to whether your accent is impeding your ability to win people over. This is especially true if you are not working in the region where your accent is prevalent. It may not be fair, but regional accents can get in the way of your EP. As Hewlett says, “There are good ones and bad ones, and even the good ones can get you into trouble, making you seem snobbish or even out of touch.” Using poor grammar or the wrong word choice is a top communication mistake. An even uglier side to using poor grammar is people are reluctant to draw your attention to the proper word usage because it oftentimes correlates with touchy gaps between education, socioeconomic class, or ethnicity. A high-pitched or shrill voice causes a poor perception of EP. Hewlett’s research confirmed a 2012 study published in the Journal of Voice that the timbre and pitch of your voice are vitally important. Research also suggests, humans are wired to tune into lower frequencies and that we hold our attention longer when a person’s voice is not grating. What is more, there is a correlation between a pleasing voice, landing top leadership roles, and a higher probability of making a significantly larger salary. Therefore, you want to strive for an optimum lower frequency. Can you mesmerize your audience? If so, perhaps you’ve got the ability to command a room. This was rated at 49% importance. The first key to grabbing your audience’s attention is to establish just enough of a AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE |

human connection to inspire listeners to root for you while giving off the impression you don’t need to be liked. In addition to commanding the room, you need to deliver your words as a musician delivers notes with appropriate phrasing, inflection, and pace. Those who speak too fast or end phrasing with an unsure uptick in tone decrease the perception of EP. Another way to command your audience’s attention is to sharpen your ability to tell a story with an attention-grabbing narrative and the avoidance of snowing people with data (lists, facts) … think of the informative, short, and entertaining format of a Ted Talk. To bump up your EP, you also need to impress your target by performing with a command of
AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE
your material without the excessive use of props. Instead, you need to have confidence and the ability to look your audience in the eye and read their reactions. Eye contact shows you are completely present, focused, and in control of your material. Finally, get to the point! Your message needs to be succinct and brief. Long windups and explanations dilute your message and give room for your listener to check out. This is an especially damaging blunder many job seekers make during an interview process. Research shows a core aspect of EP, rated at 48%, is assertiveness. A leader needs to bring with them the sensitivity to step back, respect, and read each situation. That said, women must find the delicate balance between assertive
CAREER DEVELOPMENT
confidence and the perception of over-aggressiveness (think the Bword). If you hope to command a room, you had better first read it. At 39%, one’s ability to read clients, your boss, or the room will help or hurt your EP. Today, we read a lot about the importance of EQ (emotional quotient) or EI (emotional intelligence) and having the ability to adjust to people’s cues. In Patrick Lencioni’s book The Ideal Team Player, this is the “smart” of his “humble, hungry, smart” model. Why is this important? Because it shows you have the adaptability to pivot as new information comes in and that you care about your audience. Hewlett provides a powerful description of what it takes to read a room. She recommends “tuning yourself out AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE |

to tune in to the needs and wants of others” and to showcase the command of your subject matter customized in a way your audience can grasp it. At 33%, a person’s EP is rated higher with a sense of humor or the ability to banter. This has as much to do with tapping into larger cultural or societal conversations or know enough to add to conversations to bond with people as it does when you are in the room presenting. Finally, body language and posture are rated at 21% importance and
AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE
have a huge impact on the perception of your EP. You only have a few seconds to make an impression about whether you are engaged and listening. Both your appearance and the confidence with which you carry yourself are the very first things people will notice about you and make a judgment. Communication blunders can take the wind right out of your EP sails. Things like checking your watch, clicking a pen, foot-tapping, and rustling papers are among the worst. What is the worst of the blunders? Checking one’s device.
CAREER DEVELOPMENT
It signals your time is more important than everyone else’s. How do you know if the way you communicate is holding you back from achieving the professional success you desire? Hewlett suggests tuning in to what she calls the “fidget factor.” Are people clearing their throats or squirming in their chairs? Do they look like they wish they were somewhere else? One of the best things you can do is to maintain eye contact and ensure people know you are speaking to them. People are very reluctant to offer

Record and listen yourself. Do you say “um” too much? Are you speaking and pausing at a tempo people can comfortably listen? Broaden your small talk so you can insert yourself into conversations. Control your voice so it is not shrill, raspy, or breathy. Confidently speak up by preparing what you want to say. Keep it brief and succinct! Maintain your posture. Don’t allow challenges to your authority to go unanswered. It was the communication blunder I witnessed by the young female engineer, a voice high in pitch, that made an immediate and life-long impact to the pitch of my own voice. I got to hear first-hand, the leadership coach kindly and directly address her voice as a key blockage in her ability to command the attention and respect of her coworkers. As for me, I realized I’d succeeded in making this vocal adjustment when I attended my 10-year high school reunion and, an old friend exclaimed, “Wow, your voice is so much deeper!”

HOW TO WRITE THOUGHT LEADERSHIP CONTENT ON LINKEDIN

When it comes to thought leadership on LinkedIn long-form articles are definitely a great way to deep dive and showcase your area of expertise. 40,000 words are more than enough to select a slice of your topic and expand on those thoughts to give the reader a solid example that your depth of knowledge is vast and detailed. However, the long form ‘Publisher’ platform on LinkedIn is not what it was three or four years ago. Back then these long-form documents had much more favour with the algorithms and were often announced in the feeds. That doesn't happen now. They also had a good chance to be placed in a ‘channel’, which was not dissimilar to a niche emagazine with similar content grouped together by topic. If your content was selected by LinkedIn editors to be highlighted in these ‘channels’, then you could easily gain 2300,000 views on one of your articles. Today this is a very distant memory. Today you'd be lucky to get 2-300, so you
might be thinking at this point, why bother! There are in fact three compelling reasons to prioritise continuing to write long-form articles on LinkedIn. First, you can be uniquely indexed via Google, especially if you get your headline right. One of my favourite ways to take the guesswork out of what is the right article headline is to start this process in reverse. What most people start with is the topic in mind and then write the article from there. Finishing up with the title or at least double checking the title at the end based on the content already written. Instead, research the topic based on Google searches already taking place and then give your audience what they want. The best website I've seen to do this is https://answerthepublic.com For example, typing in ‘Thought Leadership’ for this article gave me 297 results.

Especially as this isn't going directly into the ‘Publisher’ and isn’t indexed the same way, but I hope I’ve illustrated the point. The second reason to continue to use the ‘Publisher’ content option is because it's archived in an easy to digest linear fashion.
Unlike other types of content (documents being the exception), most content you post on LinkedIn is archived in date order. Text, images, gifs, links, videos etc are all put together. If you only want to consume someone’s videos for example, you’d have to cypher through everything in order of it being upload. Not the case with articles as they have their own tab to easily relocate and binge that one type of deep exploration content.

Jillian is a qualified member of the PSA (Professional Speakers Australia) and the only LinkedIn trainer in Australasia to be recognised by LinkedIn HQ, San Francisco as an “Independent LinkedIn Expert”.
The third reason is that these articles are great to share with strategic connections, especially when the topic has been raised within a message thread. You can simply supply further details via your article without taking the recipient off the LinkedIn platform. This is often very reassuring for a new connection that you aren’t trying to push them into an email subscription. So, you see, thought leadership can come in many different forms of content on LinkedIn and even though articles don't offer what they used to a few years ago, they still are a valuable part of your LinkedIn marketing mix and should be prioritised.

Take AIM, Part 4 - Start Where Ya Got Yer Feet By Lee Rowley
AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE |

SEPTEMBER 2021
AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE
Well, hot dog! I’m Lee Rowley, head copywriter, bookkeeper, floor-chimneyand-minesweeper, and general rascal over at Lee Rowley Copybranding. I know you’re going to be excited about this installment of Take AIM.
COPYWRITING
Later in the AIM process, you’ll flesh out your buyer persona by completing your own Nine Facets of Understanding chart. Once you’ve completed this chart, you’ll have a detailed map of the ideal buyer’s inner and outer world - right at your fingertips.
Why? Well, because this is the installment where I stop farting around and get down to the “how” of what we’ve been learning for the past several issues - the Avatar Immersion Method.
To get there, though, you’ve got to start somewhere. And that “somewhere” might as well be where you’re standing right now, seeing as how you’re already there. I like to do things efficiently. What the devil does that mean?
In the first three articles in this series, I explained what the Avatar Immersion Method (AIM) is, why it’s critical in today’s hypercompetitive online environment, and how using this method can uncover “hidden gems” you can use to create a sense of genuine connection. In other words, I’ve hem-hawed around for as long as I can, and the producer says I gotta cough up some value (not really). So let’s get down to business. Today, you’ll take the first step in the four-step AIM process, so your marketing can consistently connect and resonate with your ideal buyers… almost effortlessly.
Well, it means that in order to get to the result (an understanding of the buyer that shines through in your marketing), you have to know where you are. “Start where ya got yer feet,” as an old Cajun fellow told me once in New Orleans. Then he took my money. (He was a tour guide, so it was okay.) Grab a notepad or open a doc and hammer out just exactly who you believe your ideal buyer is. Start with the surface-level information, like, “Her name is Sally. She’s 48, divorced, and owns a mansion in Bel-Air. She makes $4.2 quadrillion a month, owns a successful celebrity pet boutique, and builds schools in Africa just for kicks.”
Ready? Then let’s start branching out.
Step One: Compile your existing understanding of your avatar/buyer persona.
Does she have children? If so, how many and what are their ages? What activities do they take part in that affect her life, schedule, and sanity?

CONTRIBUTING WRITER'S PROFILE
How does she use her money (other than presumably to fund schools in Africa)? What are her dynamics with her family (parents, siblings, children, ex-spouse(s), extended family? Now, what you’re doing is creating a holistic view of the buyer’s life. You need to do that because: 1. The problem you solve is probably not the only thing on your ideal buyer’s mind. They may think about the problem often, but they do have other things going on in their daily lives… and MANY more things going on inside their heads. 2. You need to identify how your solution fits within the overall framework of their life… not just how it solves a specific problem. For example, arthritis is a common ailment with symptoms that millions of people around the world can relate to. But how it affects a computer programmer, a concert violinist, a daycare owner with four children of their own, a grandmother, a college student… is very different. When you’re putting together your current understanding of your ideal buyer, be sure to include what you believe are their hopes and fears. Again, this isn’t just about the problem you solve, but about what drives them and stresses them out overall.
Copywriter, comic, curmudgeon that’s Lee Rowley. In a world of flaccid, lukewarm marketing, Lee crafts copy that connects, persuades, and endears… giving his clients the leverage to render their competition irrelevant. His signature livestream, Lee After Dark, underscores the depth and complexity of human nature that eludes copywriters and marketers today.
Don’t worry about the answers being right or even complete. Remember, this is just a launch point. You might want to keep a copy of your answers to review after you’ve completed this process, though - I think you’ll be shocked by how much you’ve refined your understanding when we’re done. Groovy? Well, I have other matters to attend to, so I’m going to end this article rather curtly. Get crackin’ on that assignment I just gave you - I’ll be back next month with another installment of Take AIM - see ya then!

HOW MUCH DO VIRTUAL ASSISTANTS COST?
VIRTUAL ASSISTANT
By Linh Podetti

AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE
Hiring a Virtual Assistant (VA) from the Philippines is one of the best outsourced staffing options for businesses in their growth phase. This is because VAs are much more affordable than regular employees but are still highly proficient, educated and easy to train. But understanding how to price a VA can be confusing. In fact, there are many factors that can vary the cost of working with a VA and with hundreds of happy clients under our wings at my company Outsourcing Angel, here’s a breakdown of what you should expect when you’re looking to hire a VA.
COST PER HOUR The cost of working with a VA ranges from as little as AUD $1 to $100 per hour. But as the old saying goes, if it sounds too good to be true… it probably is. Landing on a pay rate for your virtual staff can be like a balancing act. So let’s take into consideration the main factors that will affect the costs.
PRICE BY JOB LEVEL The first thing you should take into consideration is the skill and experience required for the VA job. At Outsourcing Angel, we break these down into three levels:
LEVEL 1: EXECUTIVE VIRTUAL ASSISTANTS Executive Virtual Assistants are trained in administrative and basic tasks such as data entry, customer enquiries and email and calendar management. This type of role requires the VA to have the ability to follow instructions and support the operations of your business.
VIRTUAL ASSISTANT
LEVEL 2: ADVANCED VIRTUAL ASSISTANTS Advanced VAs are trained in both executive tasks with additional skills required such as social media management, basic design using tools like Canva and copywriting. This type of role requires the VA to not only follow instructions, but also apply their skills and experience to generate new and original content, research and manage inquiries.
LEVEL 3: TECHNICAL VIRTUAL ASSISTANTS Technical VAs have the qualifications to assist you in a specialised technical task such as social media ads, advanced graphic design and video editing. This type of role requires technical skills and experience in a particular area in order to be able to complete the task. As you can see, there are different types of VAs and the cost of working with one depends on their skill levels and the work hours required
PRICE BY WORK HOURS Depending on your business requirements, you can either hire a VA on a part-time or fulltime basis. At Outsourcing Angel, we break this up into the following two packages: Freedom Package: 20 hours per week Paradise Package: 40 hrs per week The more hours a VA is hired for, the better value per hour and the final price will depend on both the type of VA and working hours per week. This means that a Technical VA, for example, will cost more than an Executive VA at 20 hours per week due to the scope of work and technical experience required.

COST OF RELIABILITY & SECURITY Beyond the hourly rate and experience of a VA, there are many factors of reliability and security to take into consideration too. Many low cost VA providers may not offer the following:
REPLACEMENT & DISRUPTION COVER
VIRTUAL ASSISTANT
Professionalism Cultural fit
ON-BOARDING AND SET-UP One of the most time consuming tasks when working with a VA is the initial set-up and onboarding. This is why it’s important for us to do as much of the work as possible and here’s what our client Simon Shearer had to say about our on-boarding process:
A lot of business owners that have experienced hiring a VA or freelancer directly will know all too well what it’s like to suddenly be ghosted! It’s not fun (and a huge waste of time and money!) which is why at Outsourcing Angel, if for any reason you're unhappy with your VA, then we will find a suitable replacement for you quickly at no extra cost as well as give you 1 week free.
DEDICATED HR DEPARTMENT Without a strict recruitment process that takes into consideration things like cultural fit, this puts your business at risk of hiring unreliable VAs that can simply disappear or put your business security at risk. This is why we have a dedicated HR Team that follows a strict vetting and recruitment process with all VA candidates. Your short-listed candidates must: Satisfy all your job requirements and criteria Complete skills and personality tests successfully Provide work samples and references Communication skills Availability to work in your timezone Available technology
"I've outsourced work before but never a full-time or part-time role. So making this sort of change was different and it was so good to have Outsourcing Angel show me how systems and processes should work. I also loved how much preparation went into my VA before they got to me. OA sets all the expectations with the VA of how they should complete work, interact and submit work reports to me. It really didn't leave too much for me to actually do, which is great for a business owner."

In the initial months of working with your VA, we also assign a Team Leader to oversee your VA’s work and ensure that they deliver on their promises and that the process is seamless. If any issues arise, the Team Leader will work with you and your VA to resolve the issue and we can also escalate it to our Operations Manager if needed. We basically have a support team to hold your hand through this process and be available for you when you need it. On the other hand, the cost of working with a freelancer or a basic Virtual Assistant Provider may be lower, but this requires you to conduct your own on-boarding and manage inefficiencies and issues on your own.
SO, HOW MUCH DO THEY REALLY COST?
Linh Podetti is a serial entrepreneur, currently a co-founder of Dawn Media Productions, a video marketing agency and a business coach at Outsource Masters, an online coaching community, teaching aspiring entrepreneurs how to build their own virtual assistant business.
In conclusion, when you're researching 'How much do Virtual Assistants cost?' keep in mind that there are many other factors to take into consideration than just their hourly rate which ranges anywhere from AUD $1 to $100 per hour depending on their location, skills & experience, whether you’re hiring directly (your time equals money) or through an agency. If you go down the agency route, make sure to compare all their features, benefits, experience and reputation. This will give you a more accurate indication of price vs value. Overall, while it’s important to keep your costs low, it’s even more important to pay enough to provide a win-win situation to keep your outsourced staff motivated and allow them to provide for their families too. This is definitely our key to a successful on-going relationship with a VA.

We’re not gonna sit in silence. We’re not gonna to live in fear…..
They are looking for new solutions, wisdom. A way out of this mess.
Nothing sums it up better than the lyrics of this iconic Aussie anthem written by John Farnham (one of my personal favs) – side note I rocked to his tunes at the front of the stage while 9 months pregnant while my husband sat in terror that my water would break. (totally unrelated fact).
Someone you know, or someone who is quietly watching you – is waiting for you to tell them it’s going to be ok. To point them towards a future they can believe in. They are waiting to hear your insight, wisdom, authority, knowledge.
Sing it with me people…..
They even want to hear your fears. They want to know that you understand them. That you also have moments of doubt. They are looking for leaders who aren’t going to lie to them. They are looking for leaders with deep spiritual and emotional confidence.
We have the chance to turn the pages over We can write what we want to write We gotta make ends meet, before we get much older We're all someone's daughter We're all someone's son How long can we look at each other Down the barrel of a gun? You're the voice, try and understand it Make a noise and make it clear Oh, whoa We're not gonna sit in silence We're not gonna live with fear
There’s an uprising of new voices and leaders, who hold truth and answers for the world, and who are being discovered. Gone are the days when we trust the leaders who we thought would take care of us, or the ‘gurus’ with their shallow marketing tactics, and the ‘5 minute coaches’ who have popped up overnight, but who have nothing of substance to offer. Your tribe and future clients want a way out of their doubt, loss, disappointment, and fears. They want deep connection, comfort and confidence.
They want to feel safe. They want to express themselves. And so do you.
Are you going to sit in silence? A lot of people ask me, Louise - how do I remain commercially viable. How do I stand out? How will I be heard in all this noise? How can I stay motivated? How can I make 6 or 7 or 8 figures? How do I reach the people I want to serve faster? I remember a time where I felt hidden. For many years I was fearful of sharing what I truly believed. For a long time, I tailored my voice, my message to suit what I thought the people wanted to hear. I held back from speaking my truth. I watered it down. Day and night I would think about ideas, models. Frustrated. Knowing deep in my heart that I wasn’t sharing everything within me. All of my gifts. All of my talent. Then I realised one day that I’d been conditioned to holding back my true voice. I realised something. When you aren’t in an

environment where you are received, heard and celebrated – you start to shrink back. And you hold back the wave of goodness, of miracles, or even income which is coming towards you.
When You Truly Discover Yourself – You Will Be Discovered By Others: One of the biggest fears, that causes even the greatest leaders and entrepreneurs to hold back, is that the message IS SO unique that others may not receive it or them; pioneering a message is a lonely place How do you cultivate your true voice and be heard by those who will follow you? A core component of what we do is to discover and cultivate a new voice of Authority as a Kingdom Expert, Leader or Coach. We do this through our Signature Kingdom Brand™ Algorithm. One step is teaching our clients how to cultivate a habit of connecting at a deep and powerful level within. A place where you access peace, clarity, confidence, power and certainty about your business, message and voice. Here’s one of the 8 Prophetic Principles we apply to moving into greater influence in your message and voice.
Go Deep To That Quiet Place Where You Hear Clearly. There’s a proverb which says “Deep calls to Deep” . It speaks of connecting with God at a deep level. Going to that quiet place and going into deep waters. Not being afraid of the deep.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
When you think of deep sea fisherman, they have to be prepared to weather storms. They go into places where others fear to go. They don’t stay on the shore with the seagulls picking up the scraps. They look beyond. They determine to go and catch the prize. They don’t wait for others to give them permission. They gear up. They know it is the long game. They know where their true north is. The leave the shore where the spectators wait. They keep sight of the light. They wait with patience. And do not return empty handed.
We cannot find our Signature voice in the shallow places. Our true voice of influence is found by searching deep within. I remember a moment when I experienced a profound connection with God. A divine moment in time where I felt beautiful, loved and accepted. There was no noise in my mind. It was still and quiet. I had come home. From that moment – I knew I had to run my own race. I had a deep resolve in my spirit. I decided to share my own message, and follow my own path – regardless of whether I was approved, or even understood by those close to me. That was a turning point in my life and my business. It took me from struggling to a business where I now create 6 figure days. A true Kingdom leader knows himself at a deep, deep level. They are deeply connected to their purpose. It drives them beyond their fears. They know what they carry within, and its worth. They focus on the people they serve. They know that they are different. They are ok with that. They look at the critics with

Lean in!! This IS woo! If you are woo-curious, willing to find out the ins and outs of woo – then I encourage you to read on. Just a heads up, this is viewed as multilayered and complex but it’s not. Most leaders know and activate this regularly. I am sharing this secret formula with you today. One that I only share with my clients but I feel I have a duty to share this wisdom and put it out into the field. So you know how to manifest like a leader, too. So here goes . . . For years I have been working with quantum codes. It’s not really understood completely. But here’s the thing when you crack your code – you can manifest anything your heart desires. The 3 most common areas that my clients work with are Wealth, Health and Love. We know that there are frequencies we connect to and it feels really good. However, we have experienced the opposite too – this does not feel good. Sadly, these are the ones we get to know well. This becomes familiar and it can create a pattern that we follow and an unconscious bias. The addiction to struggles helps us belong to other humans. It’s prevalent and it’s a story. This is the human game. The magical formula helps us unpack the difference between light codes, which feel good, and those that don’t. To access these light codes and frequencies across time, space and dimension is the secret. The essence of this light code work is navigating to your own unique code and frequency. This creates the sacred container to not only ask but to receive what you are calling in.
MANIFESTATION
So how do you crack the code? Awareness is the key
Here are 3 things you need to crack your unique codeMetta Code Soul Speak Karmic Core Wounds Access these and you can manifest anything. Let’s start with Metta Code.
Metta Code What’s your Metta Code? How do you navigate to your answers, your guidance, clarity, focus and direction? The transmission of the energy beyond your words. Remember that saying by Maya Angelou – one of my favourites – “that people will forget what you say but they will always remember how you made them feel” Do you know the vibration you emit into the world – do you know what your cadence is? Some call this light frequency. When you know what number your frequency sits at – you can expand and contract at will. It is a conscious process that takes time to develop and monitor. It is a skill development process, especially for leaders on a mission.
Soul Speak Start speaking to your soul and receiving an embodied visceral message. Grounded physical connection is so important when you are speaking to your soul. Asking for guidance. Asking for direction. We make a million decisions daily – or sometimes it feels that – am I right? In fact according to the research it is 35000 decisions daily. So what if you knew instinctively the right decision for you. Would that make it easy?

When you learn to speak your own unique version of “soul speak”, your doubts and fear will dial down. You will have more certainty than ever before. You will ask the Universe to deliver your manifesting ask with confidence. What I find with my clients that once they master this for themselves, they want more for their community and the collective at large. So they ask for more for their community too.
Core Wounds Knowing which core wound is activated by your growth expansion is a gift. In the last 40 years of developing this framework, I have seen resistances to growth and manifesting because of these karmic core wounds. These become entangled in your energy field and stop you from growth and success. The 3 Core Karmic Wounds, which we all experience; are Shame, Betrayal and Abandonment. Once you become aware of these, how they show up in your life, you will find it opens the path and you will feel freer to ask, to manifest and achieve your heart’s desires.
Manifesting Process We can all dream and ask for a desire to manifest. Do you have one? If you do, here is what you need to consider: 1. Bring it forward 2. Do you believe it is possible? 3. If you don’t believe it – it is a no and it won’t happen.
STOP HERE IF YOU BELIEVE YOUR DESIRE IS NOT POSSIBLE.
MANIFESTATION
If you do believe it’s possible – the next step is to feel it in your body. Where is it, in your body that you feel that first instant of YES!! 1. Name it 2. Feel it 3. Embrace it If I was working with you – I would share what this means but for now, let’s say you know what this means to you. You have received the data and the frequency and the code, which creates a real presence in your energy field. So there is no doubt that this manifestation will occur. Then… 1. Close your eyes 2. Get ground 3. Land in your body 4. Connect to your feet 5. Connect to your crown 6. Then go a little higher – connect to your higher self. 7. Ask – what is my next step? Do this for 30 days.
You will manifest with ease The physical, emotional, mental and spiritual frequency changes from heavy to light. This is how you know that you have connected with your light code frequency. It is a state of transcendence that you access with ease, consciously and recall, as necessary. Be in the light code frequency (energy) to open to receive your ask. You know manifesting is a formula but it is one that transcends time, space and energy. Sometimes, the human finds this challenging to do. With support and an immersive experience, you too can access your light code frequency and receive the key to your prosperity too.

BRANDING
Personal branding is on everyone's lips and ultimately affects everyone from interns to C-Suite executives. The high demand has also attracted many providers. You can see that on LinkedIn alone, for example. Countless service providers compete here to get a piece from the personal branding cake.
which you can really reach people and turn them into your fans. Reply to comments under your posts, answer the phone, and provide valuable answers to questions that are put to you. When you interact with people, the best opportunities arise for people to get to know you, how they perceive you and how you can help them.
What should you watch out for when building or expanding your brand? In this article, I will try to explain the essential aspects to you.
APPEARANCE
A personal brand should be authentic and natural. Basically everyone should be able to quickly recognize what you stand for, what your competence and legitimacy are, to be perceived as a trustworthy authority, with whom it is also fun and enjoyable to exchange ideas, to learn more or even to work together sustainably. As in a short conversation, your contact should walk away thinking: “This guy is friendly and a lot of fun to work with.” They should know who you are and whether they want to talk to you again. As usual, it takes some time to build your brand and it takes even sometimes more time to change it. It is therefore immensely important to first recognize and define your own values, vision and purpose, which your brand will be aligned with. Some people find it easy to build a positive personal brand, but others have to work hard to get it. What dimensions contribute to your personal brand, and what you should know about each.
ACCESSIBILITY Be approachable as a person! This is an unusual quality, especially in our virtual online world, with
People also judge you by your appearance. Therefore, pay attention to your details. The way in which you appear has a direct impact on your brand. You do not have to dress up or wear a uniform, but your appearance must reflect your values, be adapted to the respective situation and the audience: Your appearance must therefore meet the expectations of your audience.
ATTITUDE Always do your best, even when you don't feel like it. This is true in good times and bad. The truth is, nobody cares about your problems. It is only interesting which solutions you have ready for your customer’s problems and needs. That is why you should always present your best self. But it's not about you, it's about your audience and target customers.
INTEGRITY Always be honest because the truth always comes out at the end of the day. Don't make promises that you can't keep. Don't say something just because someone wants to hear it when it doesn't apply. Don't change your mind depending on your audience. Loyalty is another element of integrity. Being honest and loyal will help you build a trustworthy and credible brand.

CONTRIBUTING WRITER'S PROFILE
There are basically two types of people who see change as an opportunity and those who see it as a risk. So people who want to find ideas and solutions and those who discuss problems up to the ultimate headache.
Who would you rather do business with or have as a friend? People like people who are open to ideas and relationships. Your personal brand should be someone who is open to new ideas, experiences and business.
PRESENTATION How you communicate with others largely defines your brand. Communication is two-way. If you only talk yourself, you will not find out anything from your audience. In addition, this has a very negative effect on your audience. Always think about what you want to say and how you want to present yourself before you open your mouth. And listen, because the feedback from your audience and target clients is worth gold. Also, keep in mind that most of the communication happens on the emotional level. Use colors and music accordingly, because they trigger emotions directly. Words need to be translated into meaning in the head.

The difference between luck and work is that the return on work increases exponentially, but happiness is only a momentary peak in performance. Even if you see a lucky opportunity, work very hard to keep it. If people know that you work hard, they will be more likely to work with you again. Go and build your Personal Branding If you are clear about your values, your vision and your purpose, then these 7 dimensions will help you effectively to develop a strong and authentic personal brand that will resonate with your target customers and which will enable you to communicate with them sustainably. LEADING WITH BRAIN IN MIND
You Hit a Fork in the Road; Do You Go Left or Right?

LEADING WITH BRAIN IN MIND
You gather your friends and venture forth. You encounter a fork in the road; the way to the left leads to a luscious, inviting forest filled with wonder, the right leads to an eerie, misty graveyard.
Truly know yourself and act based on that.
Which way do you go?
Most of the pitfalls we encounter, however, are self-made. Understandably, there are unforeseen occurrences that we can't avoid, but most critical decisions are based upon our perceptions of the outcomes - be it the forest path or the graveyard path.
Left, right? Looking back, I am sure your own adventure stories of the past often gave you decisions like these to make. While in the content of reality, many, if not most of us, would choose what we perceive to be the safer, better option with the forest. But in the context of a story, many of us may prefer the mystery surrounding the graveyard. What can we obtain there, and what can we find? Fantasy television, stories, and dramas place us in the position to see the right or wrong options, but the real world doesn't discriminate. The forest may be dangerous while the graveyard is safe. The same is true of our own lives; life doesn't discriminate, and there is rarely a clear 'right' option.
Avoiding the pitfalls along the path When I was a teenager about to finish college, I remember being bombarded with decisions to make, whether I was ready or not. Till then, critical decisions were made for me, but now, I was on my own to choose. Having never made decisions before, it came as a shock, but that very shock opened up opportunities to look deeper into myself. At all steps of the way you have decisions to make: React or respond What drives this depends on how skilled you are to deal with risk; confidently speak your mind and express it.
My voice has an impact. My voice can shape my life, the way I see the world, and ultimately, the destination I arrive at.
We all face difficult situations, high demands, and disruption, so what separates those that can respond from those that can't? I believe it stems from the link between how you see yourself, understand your values and rules to thrive by, and how you step up in the world. Too often, we look at others who are considered leaders and embrace their values and direction. While there is nothing wrong with doing so, this can prevent us from fully growing into our own power based on who we are. As a result, the pitfalls we face are usually selfcreated; an inner look into how we cannot match up to someone else, how our voice might not matter in a moment, and our inner thoughts against ourselves. Commonly, these pitfalls sound like "I'm not good enough" or "this isn't the right time". Fear of loss and a fear of failure also plays a crucial role.
Analysing the tools on your toolbelt A warrior never goes into battle without a weapon, nor does a speaker give a talk without a plan. In my experience as a coach, most of us believe there is more for us, more we could be doing and working towards, or places we can still go.

LEADING WITH BRAIN IN MIND
Lack of drive to obtain these desires isn't the obstacle; the confidence in deciding to traverse a particular path is. To overcome this, we have to ignite our voices and then trust in that voice. A leadership voice is not a fixed trait. It is something each of us can and should develop to grow into who we are. I heard a saying that reflects what I mean here:
"Don't let your candle melt on its own in the closet." I interpret it as don't let who you genuinely are burnout without letting the world see. We save our courage, resilience, insights, experiences and ideas for the right moment. We reserve them, and they wear away in our closet on their own. Adversity does not discriminate. Change and how it impacts does not discriminate. Making decisions - easy and tough ones - does not discriminate. Making an impact and leaving a mark in your space does not discriminate. We always need a reliable key to see us through and help us navigate life and business as it happens. I want you to know that you have that voice and power within you; you only need to let it out with the brain in mind of course. You won’t want to encounter things that may make you selfsabotage. What is possible starts with you and what you perceive to be on your tool belt. This perception is always true, and it's precisely why manifesting, and affirmations are so powerful for some people. If you say you're not confident, you aren't. If you say, you are, suddenly, you empower yourself to

Rev
Transcribing the audio from your video into text helps YouTube and other search engines crawl the keywords and, as a result, improve your discoverability. The world is full of people with different tastes and preferences, so similarly, there’s an audience that prefers reading more than watching a video. By converting your audios to text, you’re directly targeting them and augmenting your marketing efforts. With that said, let’s head into the list.
Happy Scribe
Rev is not software but rather an exceptional service that houses a lot of talented transcriptionists. You’ll be charged just $1.25 per minute of your audio, and the finished transcript will be delivered within 12 hours with 99% accuracy. It saves you a lot of time because you don’t have to do anything apart from uploading the audio file. Once your transcript is delivered, you can edit it if you wish to share it with anyone you’d like. It also integrates with Google Drive and Dropbox for faster workflow.
Amberscript Great for transcription and subtitles, Happy Scribe supports over 60 different languages in which you can convert your audio to text. It allows you to bring your team members, such as proofreaders and editors, into the platform and experience a seamless collaboration workflow. Moreover, you can assign speaker names, create vocabulary and utilize their API to sync third-party tools to make the process smoother. You can be assured your transcript will be of great quality, along with proper punctuation. Happy Scribe has a Trustpilot rating of 4.7/5 stars, which is quite brilliant for any tool. Their reviews speak for their service as well.
It’s an intelligent tool with AI speech recognition, allowing you to turn audio and videos into text or subtitles. With their online text editor, you or their available human transcribers can make the result 100% accurate. It’s up to you to choose whether you’re looking to transcribe automatically via the AI tool or with the help of their professional transcriptionist. If you’re looking to complete one-off projects, then it’d be ideal to use the automatic tool, while manual transcription is great when you want to do long-term work.

Transcribe
You can turn your podcasts, speeches, lectures, calls, interviews, and all other audio/video forms into text, and that too in over 60 different languages by using Transcribe. If the file that you’re importing has minimal background noise, it won’t take very long to transcribe the entire thing. However, if it’s not clearly audible, you can utilize a feature that allows you to play the audio and dictate it with your voice to have the tool clearly turn it into the text as the duration progresses.
