I had to search high and low to find a leader who could tick all of these boxes. Through thick and thin, I found him. Meet Mark Ashby. A man who understands the battle ground at the highest military ‘elite’ level. A man who has walked parts of Iraq that you and I will never know. A man who fought for freedom, morality and a driving passion to bring his team home.
Leadership is subjective. Everyone has their version of it. But what truly makes an outstanding leader? To me, it’s someone who can withstand adversity, come face to face with life and death, overcome dangerous territories, work with different human agendas, see through propaganda, challenge the status quo, turn complex into simple, maintain a calm, grounded composure, have a big heart and fight for his people.
We tried the work, life balance angle and that didn’t work. What next?
True leadership That’s what is next Mark is on a mission to shift the way boardrooms embrace leadership. It takes courage to challenge the status quo but to Mark, that’s a walk in the park compared to what he’s experienced. Let me just say this, when you know that you have a 50% chance of dying each day, you aren’t afraid of anything So, this issue is dedicated to all the leaders out there who do leadership different and are making a difference You are the game changers, misfits, black sheep and disruptors. We want you. We need you. Enjoy this issue of Authoritti5 0
I have never met anyone like this human His super power is bringing the best out of people. He is the greatest storyteller I have ever met. His stories touch the soul at a deep level and he can turn any complex situation into simple In today’s economy where crisis is all around us, we need leaders like Mark. He has the courage to talk about leadership in a way that is not common in boardrooms. He speaks about emotions, feelings, the heart, masculine power systems and feminine power systems He can shift the way you think through his words because he knows how to speak to the soul, the heart and the mind. We need to go back to humanising the human. The companies that embrace this type of mindset are the ones that will innovate and attract the best talent. People want to be unapologetically themselves and rise above their job title or job description.

Mary Welcome to Authoritti5.0 magazine. Today we have a remarkable guest who is going to be talking about leadership on a whole new level. Mark Ashby is a highly regarded specialist who assists multinational companies and their leaders in crisis awareness and cultural change. He has displayed an extraordinary ability to perform optimally under stressful scenarios through extensive experiences as a member of the elite paratroops and other specialist roles in the Australian army with operational tours of East Timor Mark was deployed to Iraq as a team leader in the highly dangerous private security sector for 11 years before returning to Australia to work as a senior risk consultant in the corporate world for 6 years. Mark relied on rigorous training and discipline to carry out 41 operational rotations consisting of 1,600 missions completed during his time as a close protection team leader.
Mark’s duties often took him to high threat hostile situations where he faced immense pressure to perform tasks in both covert and overt capacities with great emotional control, discipline, and accuracy.
A unique ability to decipher complex scenarios and turn them into easy to understand dialogue has allowed Mark to mold his insights into the glue that gels difficult or ineffective teams together. His approach relies on a two pronged strategy to train executives and senior company members from a place of experience, rather than theory, and pull individuals out of the trap of superficial macho culture.

Mark has combined the knowledge he gained from an unparalleled level of exposure to the highest environments and responsibilities with his aptitude for leveraging the strengths of those around him. His comprehensive methodology for helping companies with critical incident awareness and prevention, such as acts of terrorism or active shooting scenarios that threaten their businesses, is at the forefront of corporate crisis prevention and security work Welcome to this issue of Authoritti5 0, Mark, which is on “leadership under pressure,” something you have mastered. We are living in a crazy world at the moment were being under pressure is becoming normal. First of all, I want to ask you: What does leadership mean to you given your military background?
![](https://assets.isu.pub/document-structure/220822095626-6c50664bcb9cc5b88210e56e30ab2895/v1/04a0b19be7a268772604ec115e8d53b7.jpeg)
Mark I think having worked under some incredible leaders during my own experiences really taught me the true meaning of leadership and inspired me to be like those leaders themselves and step into their shoes. You get to a point where you’ll literally do anything for them. It’s an extreme environment in the conflict zones, and I think finding those great leaders is quite difficult. But when you do find them, you use them as your benchmark. For me, it’s leading from the front and being that person under different levels of pressure and expectation. Your own efforts basically dictate where you move forward, and you want the people who end up being in that opposite sphere below you You want them to actually turn up every day and have that confidence in you to lead them through high pressure situations in crises
AUGUST 2022 AUTHORITTI5 0 MAGAZINE COVER AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE | 6
Mark Yeah, absolutely. I think it’s a very different environment, that next level up where mistakes can literally result in your last footsteps on this earth or maybe result in the death of one of your teammates. So it’s an area of leadership where you can’t get it wrong. You’ve got to cover all your bases before you conduct missions or operations, and you’ve got to be thorough in what you are doing to get it right. You just can’t afford those mistakes. It’s leadership on a different level where you are put under immense pressure and scrutiny. You’re watched and observed from all around by people with very good backgrounds who expect that out of you as a leader and expect that to wash off onto your individuals.
Mary I love how you answered that question because it’s not like you gave me a definition; that’s a one size fits all You really thought about it because as you were talking I was thinking, wow, where do you start from? There are so many angles that you can come from when it comes to leadership. And I agree that on one hand, it is aspiring to get to a benchmark, and on the other side, there’s also courage stepping into fear in a place where you’ve never been before and cutting through those emotions and feelings that most of humanity would never experience. For me, courage is more about the emotion and the feeling that you experience rather than being macho or being motivated or having the willpower And there’s a real direct link to that in leadership Would you agree with that?
![](https://assets.isu.pub/document-structure/220822095626-6c50664bcb9cc5b88210e56e30ab2895/v1/18209d538663718ab54546c50ab3d1c6.jpeg)
Mary So you’ve spent a large part of your career under pressure, and yet you are an incredibly grounded person. I feel like you are a perfect example of the yin and the yang, the masculine and the feminine. You’ve got a real balance about you, meaning that on one side of the coin, there’s intense pressure. On the other side, there’s intense calmness. And I think that you really represent that beautifully when it comes to leadership Do you believe that both sides of the coin are critical in order to meet an end goal? Is being calm and also working well under pressure when these two merge together is that a fundamental part of the formula for strong leadership that can meet the goals, exceed the goals, and bring people together?
Mark Absolutely, it’s a skill that you may already have inside you that you can enhance to operate calmly under that pressure Learning to be able to switch on and switch off when need be is critical, because every day in those environments, you have to be at that level; you can’t have an off day where you think you don’t want to lead in that way or plan in that way for today’s mission You have to be able to call on every aspect of your masculine and feminine side, the positive and negative. You have to be able to look at it down the line and take that whole equation of emotion out of it to get the best out of yourself and be directional and not assume it’s going to be okay or live on hope. We never use those words. We only went on facts and what we knew to get the best out of ourselves, to ensure that the missions were completed, and most of all, to get all of our teammates back safely. That’s the biggest one of all, and probably my proudest achievement after all those years is getting everybody back home safely. It’s a real key aspect, even when you come back into normal society. I’m back home in Australia, and being able to relate to both sides of the equation, being a man in that alpha environment but also having that great ability to connect regardless of your audience, is key Mary I agree with you I’ve heard you talk a lot about making sound decisions based on fact, not emotion That’s a big part of your philosophy I think in business, most people make emotional decisions, but instead of reacting, we need to learn how to respond. And I know you have a method that you’ve created, the diamond method, which you give away for free. So anyone who wants that method can use the link in the show notes, but can you talk us through why removing emotion is critical when making decisions? And also maybe just walk us through your philosophy on the diamond method? It’s so simple, but it’s so profound. Mark It’s a very simple methodology, and I think the simplest things are quite often overlooked. We want to make things complex for some reason, whether it’s in the private sector like I was in the corporate sector. The diamond methodology, the apex, is a decision that can be based on a monetary decision; it could be based on a contract or a tender Rather than going on emotion or what somebody else thinks, you are looking at the positive and negative aspects of your decision and taking emotion out of it to arrive at your conclusion

I love that so much. I recently shared with you that I watched the Top Gun movie, and it was the same words that Tom Cruise said in the movie and I thought of you straight away. I think leadership today needs to have more of us mindset rather than me mindset because, correct me if I'm wrong, if the team doesn’t have your back, it’s a pretty lonely place and it’s also not sustainable Can you share your philosophy on team building and why they come first based on your experience in those hostile environments? Mark Well, I keep referring to us because without the team environment, without that collective, you have nothing. And especially when you’re away from home, you’re away from everything that’s normal to your life. We’re in a small select group of guys and a few gals who came in later into the industry and we had to be tight. And it was such a dangerous environment that without having that well oiled machine every single day we went out, it could be catastrophic And what might the average person say if you asked how they would feel about going to work knowing that they had a 50% chance of dying on that day? Would they still go to work? And how about going to work the next day and the next day and the next day? This is what it was like for us, where we had that real risk of losing our life every single day. It wasn’t a game, and it’s only for a special sort of person who can mentally and physically adapt to that, but more mental because it’s all a mental game. Having that closeness in the team was everything for me.

Every single decision we make in life, whether it’s in our personal life or our professional life, we do it naturally without thinking about it Maybe you’re going to your favorite restaurant and you’re going to be taking a certain route to get there. You’re going to drive a certain way, but you weigh up in your mind: “Do I go this way or that way, do I go the long way or the short way?” And it’s the same thing in a business where you quite often have this outside noise and people telling you what to do. People will make that quick decision based on emotion rather than saying, “Well, I should be looking at the positives and negatives of this decision.” You may be 60% on the positive side or you may be 40% on the negative, but you have to look at the negative and you have to look at the outcomes of that negative Maybe a senior executive has left your business They’ve left you in the lurch and maybe that person didn’t have a good reputation in the business So everyone, of course, is happy that this person’s gone, but you have to look at the negative side of that equation: That person had massive experience in the business and contacts and is leaving a gaping hole. Is the person who’s coming in to replace that senior executive worse? And this is where the diamond methodology breaks it down and makes it very simple You take the emotion out of it and make a sound decision Mary What is very obvious is that you have this ability to convert the complex into simple, like your mind just automatically thinks like that, which is why I love that diamond methodology so much. Now you spent 11 years in Iraq under seriously dangerous conditions. And I’ve heard you always say that your goal has always been to get the team home.

18 I have heard in the professional industry that you shouldn’t get too close to your work mates if you’re the boss. I don’t believe in that. That wasn’t my methodology. My methodology was to be close in to get the best out of myself because I wanted to get those people home. You make it personal. You get to know them so well on that level. And you know about their children, their spouses, their families. And so it made me never, ever take it for granted and never ever drop the ball. Mary I want to touch a little bit on what it feels like to be in the thick of a crisis, just leading from what you were just talking about. What does the preparation look like? What type of mindset do you have to embrace? How do you respond to a crisis in 1000000th of a second? How do you get the team on your page when you’re making really big decisions, and more importantly, how do you create confidence as a collective? To me, a crisis could mean your child spilling oil all over the floor, but being in the thick of a war zone and having to act immediately or respond rather than not react to something that’s happening in the moment what does that feel like? Can you describe that in the language of feelings? What mindset do you have to have to embrace to respond to a crisis? Mark Well, I think ultimately it comes from your training. You have to be that person who has that ability to be able to slow time down. I’ve talked to you before about it, that slow is smooth, and smooth is a fast mentality where you slow things down to make them smooth. And doing something smoothly can be as simple as trying to get your car keys in a car door fast, but not being able to do it. But if you do it nice and slowly using that deliberate motion, it works every time quickly. And it’s exactly the same with something like having a roadside bomb go off There’s no point in panicking because if you panic, you’re just going to make mistakes And sometimes 10 seconds in any environment can be the difference between life and death, whether you have a terrorism situation or an active shooter in a building It’s about taking that moment to actually take it in a bit and think about what is going on rather than just following everybody else who’s running and panicking. I think today it’s more evident than ever, with what’s going on in the Western world with school shootings and things like this. It’s just that matter of taking a moment and understanding when it’s time for you to run when it’s time for you to actually hide when it’s time for you to fight back, and if it’s your last ditch effort.
It’s knowing when to do this and knowing what you can do in order to give yourself that chance of surviving because once it’s all over, you’re not coming back.
I’ve seen time and time again that the coolest customers are the ones who survive; they’re the ones who have the ability to see the situation, read the situation, judge it clearly and cleverly and survive it I mean, I learned from years and years of what worked for me and had to get the best out of my team I had the right individuals around me who trusted me, and I trusted them So we would go out on our missions, we’d plan them methodically, but I wouldn’t micromanage those people. I wouldn’t be standing there telling them what to do. They knew their jobs. And that’s why I planted the right people around me. They knew what to do; I just steered the ship. And it was like a well oiled machine.

It’s to be able to surrender and just know that that person on the left and that person on the right and that person behind me has my back I’m going to be okay, and as a collective, we’re going to be okay So I love that word trust and what it truly means when you dig a little bit deeper One thing that a lot of people struggle with is getting buy in from their team You were sent to Iraq to essentially fix a broken team initially. How did you get the buy in from your team members? What was your approach? And what did you do that your predecessors didn’t?
AUGUST 2022 AUTHORITTI5 0 MAGAZINE COVER AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE | 11
Working for the elections and the first ever independent elections in the history of Iraq and the whole world was watching. I mean, the President of the United States was watching what we were doing to get it right because it was massive. Mary It’s just unbelievable. It’s quite extraordinary. And, you know, you said a very important word there, and that’s that word “trust ” It’s always used very loosely across all sectors by all leaders, entrepreneurs, business owners, and CEOs, right across the board And I think that we really need to understand what the true meaning of trust actually is.
Every single time we went out a phrase we used called “switching on” as soon as we were leaving the wire, we were leaving that safety of the green zone and we were “switching on”; the whole team did exactly the same. It’s an amazing thing to see. It’s like being in an elite sporting team, like a state of origin football side every single day. And a lot of what we did overseas was history A lot of the things we took part in, no one’s ever done before You know, my first couple of years in Iraq, I was working covert, working in low profile, dressing like the locals with big beards And that was the pressure we were under to get it right.
Mark You’ve got that big word trust, but trust is only earned through time and your actions, not through words. I was fortunate enough to be asked to take over a very experienced British team that had a lot of internal issues. I was the only Australian on board there. And I was asked by my boss in my country to take this team over because they were in trouble They were going to split the team up, and they were going to essentially lose their very high paying jobs because they just couldn’t find that harmony It was toxic So I was a bit nervous myself because I’d never had that situation before, but I managed to soon work out that the problem wasn’t with the team. It was the previous team leader who had created a toxic environment by favoritism and nepotism. And it was terrible. I had a timeline to fix that team of about six weeks. They were going to be fired if it didn't work. I was going to be relocated to another team, but I managed after just a couple of weeks talking to the guys all individually and collectively. They were a great bunch of guys who just needed to be brought together and shown that bit of love And with that little bit of understanding and bit of faith in them, it went on to become, I’d almost say, the best team I had in my years in Iraq
![](https://assets.isu.pub/document-structure/220822095626-6c50664bcb9cc5b88210e56e30ab2895/v1/cb7ae5f8dede95a4071a11c18505619f.jpeg)
Mary On the topic of leadership, I’d like to bring into the mix the idea of authenticity and being your true self, knowing where your limitations are and owning up to that and saying, “I don’t know that,” or “I’m not good at that, but I’m really good at this,” and leveraging what you are really good at and doing something with that, as a collective
Obviously, there are a lot more females in a leadership roles as well, which I think is a great thing. I’ve worked for some amazing female leaders before. One of them was the Ambassador of Australia. I looked to her for a lot of leadership as well and learned a lot of lessons from her. You can’t just sit in your office and walk through your building and ignore people and think you can get away with those things anymore. You just can’t.
AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE | 12 AUGUST 2022 AUTHORITTI5 0 MAGAZINE COVER
Sadly for me, I only got to stay with those guys for about six or seven months, because I then got pigeonholed to go and take on other teams that had issues, and that’s what I ended up doing in the end. But the trust, in the end, is what we had with each other. I soon found out that it was a bit of a skill that I had been able to get the best out of that sort of people in bad situations and bring them back to what they were good at Mary
What do you think leadership looks like 10 years from now? Mark I think there will be big changes, especially in the corporate field. I think there are a lot more people aware now of what they can and can’t do and what’s right and what’s wrong.
I think a lot of people probably don’t put up with the same things they did 5 or 10 years ago. So I think there’s a big shift in leadership where it’s going to be a lot more streamlined, just from having the knowledge that people won’t accept it anymore. That you have to be that leader. You can’t just hide in your office anymore. And you can’t have that boys’ club anymore that old men’s mentality of years where it was all the boys’ clubs in a boardroom having the controlling sphere I think that is definitely going to change
When I look at a team, I look at a circle and I think if I have a circle, I want to break up the circle into parts. Each person represents one part. I don’t want two people having the same part. So how do you think authenticity will play out in leadership?

I REMIND MYSELF EVERY DAY WHERE I’VE COME FROM AND HOW HARD I’VE WORKED TO GET HERE.
Mark Yeah, I’ve tried to do that with my leadership and remain authentic, no matter what, because we all have to remember where we started. We all started at the bottom, and I think we need to keep that same mindset as we go through the ranks into a senior leadership roles up to the board and CEO roles. We need to remain true to ourselves, who we are, and have our people see it in our leadership see how authentic we are, doing what we love, and always remembering where we came from I remind myself every day where I’ve come from and how hard I’ve worked to get here And I will never let that change my mindset And I think that's what a lot of leaders need to remember where they’ve come from and to look after their staff because, without the staff, they don’t have a business. Mary Mark, I also feel that leadership will shift from the standpoint of actually starting from the customer’s standpoint and then moving back into the organization, asking “What does the customer want? What does the customer expect? What type of experience does the customer want and how are we as a team going to deliver on that?” What are your thoughts on that? Because even when you were in Iraq and the military in general, you also had a customer, and you have to almost reverse engineer how to get to that destination and also fulfill the need and the goal of that destination What’s your take on that?
Mark I think the biggest difference is that I have many years on the board that I’ve learned through the years of trial and error in that high level environment where you are working with elite performers and elite operators, and there’s nowhere to hide And you can’t learn everything in a classroom You can’t just go to university and get a degree and be an expert in your field It takes years and years of dedication For me, it’s been a 25 year journey working at those elite levels And it’s taught me to appreciate those small things in life to remain authentic, to remain grounded, to remain humble
Mark I think for us in that sphere of serving the customer, they expected a lot out of us They expected it because the world was watching, and we couldn’t afford to get it wrong because there was such high expectation I think we had great communication, which is key for every aspect, whether it’s the military or the private sector, the security sector, or the corporate sector. Communication with your customer and having an objective and a clear definition of what you want to achieve and what you want to reach is critical. I think too many people in the industry are so called experts, but they’re bluffing that they’re an expert in what they can produce. We used to see straight through that bluffing element. We would pick it up straight away. We just wouldn’t accept it. We wouldn’t accept people with massive egos, keeping in mind that egos can be fine as long as they’re in the right sphere. We’re not talking about the toxic sort of ego here. And we just wouldn’t let that sort of character in our space. We want really honest, hardworking individuals who let their brilliance shine through And that’s going to result in how we deal with our version of the customer and what we can deliver You can’t keep promising things and not delivering in the modern age with technology and with social media as everyone’s so connected It’s vital, you know, to be true to who you are Mary I agree with you. You are a unique person, and I’ve always said this to you. Not because you are an incredible human, but because you have an extraordinary story and also an extraordinary methodology that you’ve created at the back of your experience. It’s a real learned experience based on a lot of knowledge, a lot of wisdom, and a lot of skillsets that take leadership to a whole new level. What do you think that you bring to the table that is different from other leadership consultants?
![](https://assets.isu.pub/document-structure/220822095626-6c50664bcb9cc5b88210e56e30ab2895/v1/32e7fdb77f79a86d73387808df958bb5.jpeg)
I would carry out and build, my missions; I did them all the same so that I didn’t make mistakes. Once you made those mistakes you couldn’t take them back I think the average person has never really faced much death in their life, but we faced it every day in those first four or five years in Iraq, and we lost a lot of good guys And how you deal with it turns you into the person that you are. I quite often get asked how was I able to survive all those years over there and remain focused and remain alive. I think that the best answer is that we are just wired different. It’s really hard actually to put a definitive answer on why we can do that. But it’s the reason why so few of us on the planet can do it.
I see you as that. I actually look at a tree, and I mean this with absolute respect: I think you’ve learned a lot of aspects of the laws of nature that you’ve brought into your leadership experience and your methodology Mark Yeah, absolutely Like you said about nature, animals don’t rush They just do what they do They just go about their business in an orderly fashion for them to eat, sleep, and survive. And I think humans are so quick to rush and get it done, you know, at the utmost speed that this is where we make mistakes and we make blunders. And we look back and think, “Why did I do that so quickly? Why did I rush that?” And, also having that discipline to put things into a bit of perspective and just be methodical is something I set out in my overseas missions.
And it’s that fine line between being a leader to your peers and being also friendly. It’s a very difficult one, I think, to master And I’ve learned to really slow things down and be able to explain the complex and turn it into simple That skill is something that you don’t really realize you have until maybe people start actually making you aware that you can do that But it’s something that I actually love. I love being able to bring down the complex and turn it into a very simple layman’s term approach and make people understand something that they previously couldn’t understand. And it makes you want to be memorable as well. You want to be a person that if you leave an organization people think, “I’d love to get that person back because they’re different.” You give them a point of difference in their professional and personal life that they may not have had before. You give them a different approach on how to look left and right, not just straight down the line, and have a bit of a think about what they're doing I think that’s probably me in a nutshell Mary And, Mark, I just want to add to that. I think three aspects about you are really critical. I’m going to use these words because they are really important in my life: learning patience, discipline, and order. I think those three things are fundamental to the success of every aspect of our life. It’s not about control, because patience is a long game, not a quick fix. Patience has become a little bit old fashioned. I think patience is a critical ingredient for remarkable leadership. I think discipline is vitally important And so in order And if I look at nature, I think nature is ordered It’s disciplined It works in a system that just flows through life There’s trust involved in nature

We’re a very unique group of people. When I first went to Iraq, it was terrifying. Every single one of us were concerned, but we soon learned how to get better and better at it, and how to turn fear and pressure into our friends. How to get the best out of ourselves under pressure. And now it’s just part of our life; we can never undo it.

AUTHORITTI5 0 MAGAZINE GROWING, SCALING AND IMPROVING YOUR BUSINESS AUGUST 2022 AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE | 21
What? That is crazy! Businesses need technology to operate!!! You are correct. However, the technology you have today will silently kill your ability to effectively scale your business. When you realize it, it will be too late. When a business starts out, it relies on typical productivity tools. Things like word processors, spreadsheets, and presentation software become very important – you can name your productivity platform of choice Then, your business grows, and you start to invest in specialty tools. Calendar applications for booking appointments, storage solutions for keeping and sharing files, collaboration tools to promote discussion, and database systems to track activities and information. This is when the problems arise. We become invested in technology solutions and these solutions start running the business for us. Have you ever blamed one of your technology platforms for something that went wrong in your company? We need to rely on technology to effectively scale our business to meet its growth. But every technology decision has the long term possibility of ruining your business. Three things often occur when scaling your business with technology: Wrong Fit, Not Talking, and Duplication.
Have you ever seen someone buy more vehicle than they realistically need? The person that gets that three-quarter ton truck and uses it to go back and forth to the office every day Or the person that buys a sporty two seater with three kids. This happens in technology. We buy too little or too much to meet our needs. There are two factors at work here: Money or Shiny Object Syndrome. Many times, we buy too little because of our limited budget! We cannot justify spending the money on what we really need, so we cheap out. When money is not an overarching concern, we tend to swing for the fences and buy too much for our current situation We get lured into the shiny object with all its amazing features and capabilities. This creates a wrong fit situation for your technology solutions. When you are facing a wrong fit situation, you either struggled to do the job with too little of a solution, or you are paying way more than you need. Often, I see people that have too much of a technology solution and have improperly implemented the platform. These powerhouse systems often need expert set up and management, which is too expensive for a smaller business. Thus, the solutions end up set up incorrectly at the start
I like to refer to technology in business as a “silent killer.”

2. Take an inventory of every technology solution you have in your business. Even account for technology only used by one person or stuff you have, but do not currently use.
Fixing these technology issues (and others) really is quite simple, but many businesses do not do this.
3. Map your technology solutions to the operating model of your business. Note areas of duplication; where you have a solution but are not using it; or if there are gaps in solutions. Also, identify how systems have to communicate in the model, or if they do not communicate 4 With this assessment (or technology map), you can identify solutions to improve your overall operations. You want to upgrade inferior solutions, take advantage of the powerhouse solutions, close the system gaps, and increase inter operability of the overall operation.
5. Last is to plan for the future. As technology improves, you need to stay current and up to date. Also, as your company grows, you need to have clear technology needs identified, planned, and budgeted.
NotTalking Let me tell you, this problem hampers even the biggest companies in the world It is called “technology silos ” I wrote about this problem in my book, Overcoming Organizational Myopia: Breaking Through Siloed Organizations
1. Breakout your operating model. You might remember me talking about this in my February article This model outlines how your business delivers value to its customers
AUTHORITTI5 0 MAGAZINE GROWING, SCALING AND IMPROVING YOUR BUSINESS AUGUST 2022 AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE | 23
I worked with a large enterprise company that had over 400 software solutions to manage its document infrastructure. Many of these systems functionally duplicated what other systems were already doing.
We often buy one off technology solutions that simply do not talk to other technology solutions in your business. Thus, information captured in one solution often must be replicated in other solutions. This creates extra work and opportunities for failure and defects. We need to find technology solutions that work together and easily share information back and forth Duplication Have you ever worked for a company that had more than one technology solution to solve the same problem? For instance, your business has several file storage solutions, and everyone is using them differently Typically, this is a personality driven issue. So and so likes this platform, while so and so likes this other one. Result: multiple technology solutions that effectively do the same thing. This adds to cost to update and maintain. It creates training nightmares. And it will totally confuse employees. Sometimes, this occurs when a business upgrades from one solution to a new solution, but they do not eliminate the old solution.

“It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent. It is the one most adaptable to change."
It's clear that adaptability is, and always has been, important to an individual's survival and success in life. But what exactly is it and how do you become more adaptable? Let's take a deeper look.
You’ve probably seen this quote attributed to Charles Darwin. Although the words may have been inspired by Darwin’s work, he never said them. A business professor named Leon C. Megginson did. “All failure is failure to adapt, all success is successful adaptation.”
WHAT IS CAREER ADAPTABILITY?
AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE | 36 AUGUST 2022 AUTHORITTI5 0 MAGAZINE NEUROSCIENCE
Max McKeown, an English writer, consultant, and researcher specializing in innovation strategy, leadership, and culture, said the above quote.
Adaptability has always been crucial to human survival on a basic level since the beginning of the species. More recently, it has become an essential element of career and business success. Moreover, it's going to keep getting more important in the future in a global business world that is constantly changing. In order to stay competitive and relevant, as a business or individual, you must be able to learn, adapt, and respond accordingly.
Nolan Ryan, the American former Major League Baseball pitcher, and sports executive, wisely stated: “Enjoying success requires the ability to adapt. Only by being open to change will you have a true opportunity to get the most from your talent.”
Thankfully, for us, adaptability is an emotional intelligence skill that can be learned. Quite simply adaptability means being able to change. It means expanding your capacity to accommodate change, no matter how challenging, radical, or unwelcome it might be. It means instead of using your energy to try to change the circumstances, you put your effort into changing yourself to enable you to thrive in whatever the new situation is.
Specifically, the Vocational Psychology Overview defines career adaptability as: conditions. It involves the ability to adapt to changing tasks, engage in continued self learning, and regulate one's career direction.

To keep our brains challenged and healthy, we need to keep the learning process going which means continually challenging ourselves personally and professionally. This is a type of proactive adaptability that can help you stay ahead of the change game and successfully be prepared for and adapt to future challenges
Your Brain Doesn't Like Change Your brain is instinctually wired to fear anything uncertain or new It's a brain bias that helped our ancestors survive because anything new and unknown potentially meant, "caution danger!"
Taken together, identity and adaptability tell the person when and how to change in a fast moving world of work "
Adaptability is not one single skill. It encompasses many aspects of emotional intelligence. There are five basic types: Learning Studies have shown that our brains are built to continue learning throughout our lifetimes
And by transforming your relationship with change and uncertainty into one of acceptance, curiosity, and growth, you can calm your brain's fears and help it become more adaptable. This can, in turn, help you be more successful in your career and every other area of life.
AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE | 37 AUGUST 2022 AUTHORITTI5 0 MAGAZINE NEUROSCIENCE
Thankfully, your brain can change both physical form and function through a process called neuroplasticity.
Five Types of Adaptability
Today, this bias can get in the way and impede your progress professionally and personally because change and uncertainty are the only way you grow and advance in your career and life
A prominent conceptualization of career adaptability characterizes it as psychosocial strengths or capacities for solving unfamiliar, complex, and ill defined problems presented by developmental vocational tasks, occupational transitions, and work traumas.
Although it may sometimes feel uncomfortable, learning adaptability is about intentionally pushing yourself to step outside of your comfort zone. This could mean that you actively seek developmental feedback or immerse yourself in situations where you have a lot to learn. Reactive Life can feel like a beautiful symphony when things go as planned which rarely happens. So, enjoy it when it does. More often, life is unpredictable and unscripted. Whatever happens, you need to be prepared to improvise at the moment
People with a high level of reactive adaptability are good at this kind of improvisation. You might describe this person as "always landing on their feet."
Career adaptability also is needed to respond to the changing demands from employers who are increasingly seeking an adaptable workforce.

In doing so, they are more likely to have a better outcome by drawing on the knowledge of people around them Social adaptability also includes seeking meaningful, two way interactions rather than just focusing on your needs or message This means being open to seeing and understanding others’ viewpoints and adjusting your approach based on new input.

People who demonstrate creative adaptability usually think outside the box and see things from a different perspective.
People with high creative adaptability are also more inclined to consider the bigger picture, which can help them to connect the dots between seemingly unrelated problems and solutions Lifestyle
No matter how hard you train, it's just not possible to sprint a whole marathon. Slowing down to pause, catch your breath, and reassess is sometimes needed to stay at our best and on track

People with high lifestyle adaptability are much better at doing this in their day to day lives. They are able to truthfully recognize their limits and carefully monitor their work life balance, taking the time to invest in both and recharge when needed Lifestyle adaptability can bring personal and career benefits Although this strategy might cause you to lag behind on some short term demands, it boosts your long term effectiveness. This type of adaptability also prepares you for dealing with pressured situations and, more generally, helps you to live a healthier, happier life in the end experiment, see opportunity where others see failures, are resourceful, think ahead, don’t whine, talk to themselves, don’t blame others, don’t claim fame, are curious, are open-minded, see the big picture, and stay current. Creative adaptability is all about coming up with the best solutions in these situations Eleanor Roosevelt said, "Do what you can, where you are, with what you have " That's the epitome of creative adaptability

Also, don't forget to train, practice, and prepare Through repetition and experience, you can program your brain to perform and make better decisions under stress when the pressure is on. Encourage an open-mind Encourage yourself to "think outside of the box." Distance yourself from and question your typical thoughts and beliefs Analyze them objectively from different angles Is this just an inherited belief from your past? Is there another way you could think about it? Drop the storylines usually running in your head and any personal emotional investment you have in the situation for a minute
Try on different points of view and zoom out to see the bigger picture.

If you decided that you would like to develop your adaptability (I think we all could), remember it is a skill you can build and learn. Here's how: Begin to become aware of your mindset and work with it Your mindset sets the foundation for the way you experience your life The exact same events can happen to two different people, and each person’s brain will interpret the happenings and react differently. This, in turn, will cause different consequences to follow.
Embrace Learning People who are curious and open to new information tend to be more adaptable. They embrace learning new things and new ways of thinking In fact, challenging your brain will help keep it sharp and healthy
Keep current on new technologies in your industry. Attend informational seminars providing more knowledge about some aspects of your job Work on self improvement. Network with and learn from colleagues. Ask them about their career paths. Read what they read, etc
Five Ways You Can Become More Adaptable
You can’t control the random thoughts that pop into your head However, you can control how you respond to those thoughts Instead of reacting and thinking in the same ways you always have, you can become aware of your habitual thought patterns and insert a pause. Then, you can work with your mind to go intentionally in a direction that supports and encourages adaptability. Force yourself to take risks Little progress is made without risk For some, the idea of risk is so adverse that they will run from it as fast as they can, but taking risks is a key part of being adaptable. Start small and gradually increase. You will get more comfortable with change, uncertainty, and fear, the more you expose yourself to it
AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE | 42 AUGUST 2022 AUTHORITTI5 0 MAGAZINE NEUROSCIENCE Re-frame how you view change You can condition your brain to not fear change automatically Learning to get comfortable with a level of uncertainty and ambiguity can reduce stress and help you be more adaptable. You get more comfortable with change and more confident about your ability to manage and make the most of it by exposing yourself to it When you feel yourself getting anxious about change, remember that it's your brain's natural response and try to consciously change your perspective by looking for the good, speculating possible positive outcomes, and not automatically believing the negative thoughts It also helps to remind yourself that change is the only way good things happen and come into your life too not just bad.

The same is true for the list above Here too you constantly and intuitively distort, delete and generalise the information you receive based on your needs, values, beliefs, attitudes, language, memories and decisions etc
But what does that mean? Our internal cognitive map of the world is different to the reality because the map itself is created through the processes of distorting, deleting and generalising This cognitive map is your unique filtering system. It enables you to focus on what is important at any one time. For example, perhaps you are sitting on a chair reading this online magazine. You temporarily deleted the feeling of your back against the chair. Now I have drawn your attention to it you might have adjusted your sitting position to be more comfortable.

Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) has a powerful technique that helps to understand how we make sense of the world The same tool also identifies what it is we distort, delete and generalise when it comes to processing information
Understanding your internal map and how you make sense of the world is revelatory. It clarifies why you behave the way you do. It lets you understand what causes you to act and react in particular ways and it encodes your beliefs, motivations and drivers.
Let me start by asking you a question: What parts of your life are thriving right now? Take a look at the following list and see where your strengths are:
Your Emotional Landscape
You’ll often hear NLP practitioners say, the map is not the territory
Business Career Finance Health Home environment Relationships
Self-talk Social life Now think about what, if anything, needs more attention. In other words, where are you struggling? Chances are at least one area will benefit from some energy to unlock its potential to release the life you want.

Everyone has an individual bespoke map. Your life has been full of impactful incidents, insights, stories, situations, books and such like. In response you thought: I must escape, I’m prepared to fight for this or, unsure, you froze. Whether you knew it at the time or not, these were pivotal learning moments
The moment that learning came into your life, a belief or decision became part of your filtering system It ingrained itself into your emotional DNA Sometimes the learning you installed in your system was positive: You know a particular course of action works for you, so naturally and rightly you repeat it. Unfortunately, like everyone else you also repeat painful experiences and behaviours even though they lead to unwanted outcomes. Over time these become familiar. You do this as you know intuitively someone will pick you up and piece you back together this is your new normal Repeating negative patterns is also called confirmation bias You repeat a behaviour because it is familiar In so doing, it confirms you have understood the world correctly, if unhappily This repetition is what keeps you in destructive relationships and situations
Informed by your genetic makeup; Shaped by your upbringing, socio economic background, education and health; Moulded by those who supported you in your formative years and help you now It is also informed by those whose attention you craved but ignored you, and those who ignore you now. Your map is:
The experiences ingrained themselves into your belief system and informed your attitudes, language, values and actions
The Path Forward Here is where you require a fresh insight into the territory so you can create a new route through life. So, let's consider your map and the territory you cover. Then, we will return to the opening question: which part of your life is thriving right now? Is it because you are motivated away from a scenario or towards an ideal scenario? Motivated Away From = Flight I am getting away from that now because that is not me, that is not who I am, that is not what I want, and I am going to create something new Essentially you are now motivated away from something. It is a classic flight response that propels you to take action. It is good to actively move away from some things.

So, how can we resolve this entanglement?
And the only result of a “fight or flight” response is to eventually break down It’s unsustainable Add to that the pressure of having to constantly sell for our businesses for them to sustain or thrive and you get a big emotional, mental, physical, and energetic stress That is one of the reasons there is so much burnout in the coaching industry
By shifting our mindset and our perspective around sales and selling and I want to give you exactly that in this article.
Because, honestly, that feels like a win or lose scenario either/or and every “either/or” situation subconsciously creates pressure and resistance in our body. t’s for this reason that we feel like a failure if we don’t “close” the sale. And it’s for the same reason we feel like a winner if we do.
But what does this “win/lose” scenario do to our nervous system?
It creates a “fight or flight” response, which we energetically carry into our business, our products, our services, and our marketing.
In my last article, I was talking about the difference between “classical” sales and ethical selling, and in today’s article I want to give you a mindset shift around sales and introduce you to a concept called “The Path of the Agreement” The Path of the Agreement is the most powerful concept I have learned from the master of energetic sales Bob Proctor, and once I started implementing that concept into my business and sales processes everything changed But first and foremost, I want to clear something out In today’s world of sales, we are taught that “sales” is an EVENT and selling happens during that event. When I say the word “sales”, in your head you are probably thinking “Zoom sales call”, “Webinar”, “Live event”, “Challenge” etc. We are taught that sales are not only an EVENT, but that it happens through a MEDIUM Now, what if I told you that everything you ’ ve been taught about selling is wrong? What if I told you that you ’ ve been led to believe that the thing that should be the focus of sales is the same thing that creates all your tension, pressure, and resistance around selling? Let me explain If you are a coach or a consultant and you believe that the sale and selling happen only during an event and a through a medium then it’s no wonder that you feel a lot of resistance towards selling.

This is where The Path of the Agreement comes in. A couple of years back, I was a student of Bob Proctor. I loved the idea of energetically aligned selling vs pushy sales, and Bob was a master at that In one of the classes, Bob introduced the concept of “The Tath of the Agreement” which basically says two things:
1) All sales happen on an energetic level 2) The sale is a PROCESS of getting incremental, consented yesses from the other person until the energetic alignment naturally happens This blew my mind. It also helped me to understand that sale is not an event that happens through a medium, but in fact, Imagine if I told you that you are already selling and getting closer to “closing the sale” with anyone? What if you knew that with every post, every email, every comment you are selling without actually selling? it is a PROCESS.
![](https://assets.isu.pub/document-structure/220822095626-6c50664bcb9cc5b88210e56e30ab2895/v1/513af76b0fcd0b17702792f12349480e.jpeg)
![](https://assets.isu.pub/document-structure/220822095626-6c50664bcb9cc5b88210e56e30ab2895/v1/d46190733dd8ede8cb87532b36bcd193.jpeg)
In my business, I had people that went through The Path of the Agreement in 10 minutes and for some, it took a year or even two But I never lost a sale. And by implementing The Path of the Agreement in my business, I started to have 30% 40% of REPEATED buyers.
Actually, it takes the burden and the pressure off the EVENt and the MEDIUM, and helps them sustain their energy throughout the sales process. Remember, sales is always about how you vibe and your energetic state VS what you have to offer.
I see so many business owners close their doors after that “ no ” (because they think sales is an event”) and they unconsciously break The Path of the Agreement… And that’s why they are losing sales. With The Path of the Agreement there is no lost sale, but just a question of how long The Path of the Agreement for every single person is In reality, The Path of the Agreement never ends, unless you end it
This is what “The Path of the Agreement” and your selling PROCESS could look like:
So, instead of focusing on a BIG event or a medium, shift your focus on the PROCESS, broken into small single steps And if you look at it that way you are NEVER losing sales, because the “ no ” that you get actually means “not now ”
If you understand that “ no ” is actually “not now ” and support your prospects in the “not now ” , you are leaving the door open for them to come back when they are in the “ now ” state ready and willing.

Marketing is a test and measure process. A developmental journey that is forever evolving. Copywriting comes under marketing as a specialized niche. Can you be an alchemical wordsmith, putting people into a trance and casting a spell as you weave your words together to sprinkle magic into the world? Calling in your soul family? What about branding? Weaving all the pseudo, psycho world of colors together. Did you know that certain colors evoke certain feelings? Yep, trance and spell work right here!
Now let’s talk about pricing numerology, the magic of numbers The pricing of services is a spell in itself. The layers of energy mastery can be consuming. There is much rhetoric out in the entrepreneurial world and much research in the business world on what works. What if we relied on that deep connection to the core magic meaning of numbers? Oh, wait, we do! The framework and language have just changed, but here, we could describe this as “spell-andtrance” work right here. As entrepreneurs, we resolve issues. What do you solve? What magic wand do you wave to help solve the problem? Most marketers will tell you to speak to the pain points as a manipulative tactic, pushing the human compulsion to act. Maybe, or just try a magic dialogue to inspire the connection with your clients Know that the inner magic work is layered.

“Whatchu talkin’ bout?” Do you believe you are magical? Can you be magical? What is magic? Can magic be part of the entrepreneurial journey? As we define magic, we’re creating a narrative Let’s explore together. Are you pulling rabbits out of hats? I call this marketing. Because let’s face it, there is no way to know whether your pitch or your call to action will work.
The world of human connection is an ecology that goes beyond the human mind. It goes deep into the soul; the soul being the ancient lifetimes of reincarnation, immersion, and sacred experiences. Once you explore the layers, define, refine, and inspire with these layers; this is the magic.
Marketing is Igniting.
There are outer constructs of a formula. There is play and creativity.
• Doing magic.
Acceptance surrender Resistance is futile and, quite frankly, takes too much energy. Get to know how resistance shows up. It is generally through thoughts. It’s EGO. As Wayne Dyer said EGO stands for Edging God Out. Stay on your path and develop curiosity and observer status. This is much less catabolic energy and more fun too So, remember these principles: Curiosity, Observe and Accept.
Sacred immersive experiences where you gather evidence of your unique magic. Once you have gathered enough evidence, don’t wait; sprinkle your magic into the world Weave the tapestry of magical fibres and become part of the quantum shift that magic can and does bring to the world.

DRIVER #2 DREAMS AND PASSION
When was the last time you imagined your life and your dreams as if in a movie? In our daily routine, we forget that our imaginations are designed to brilliantly move us towards what we dream about and think about the most. The reticular activating system in our brains is wired exactly for this!!
ACTION: Write a list of everything that has made you feel good. Did you make a sale? Get a job? Were you promoted recently? Finished a course? Set up a new product or website? Helped someone in need? Were you compassionate towards someone? Did you give freely of your gifts? Have you provided a service that was appreciated? When were you last recognized for an achievement? Did you have a special moment with a loved one? A hug? A quiet time outside reading a book?
WHAT IS GOOD: Before we get into It I want you to open up your heart and think about possibilities by remembering something positive. Putting your attention on the positive begins to connect you on a heart level to a higher power for me that is God.

Think of the mid life crises. Your neighbor stops driving the four wheel drive and buys himself a Lamborghini, dies his or her hair blonde, and loses 40 pounds. The sudden change of career. The taking up of a new hobby. People do these things partly because they want variety! Variety is important because it stimulates us. People love variety. When you think about little kids notice how curious they are! They want to see and explore everything. As humans, our need for variety is very high. We like a novelty. Variety can be your friend, or it can be your distractor. Variety can be a good thing and a bad thing (especially for creatives). People can get addicted to variety and change because of the dopamine hit when we experience something new. Ask yourself this the next time you want to jump into something new is this new great thing moving you faster in the direction of your core goals and values? Or is it a distractor? Or switch mid lane If you imagine a race car driver, changing lanes all the time, or taking a new path halfway through the race Will he win the race? Is this the fastest track to his goal?
DO OTHERS RESIST YOUR NEW IDEAS?
AUTHORITTI5.0
Are the people around you on board? Often those with a high need for variety are surrounded by people who are very high on control, and who can feel threatened by variety They feel they have lost agency They’re the ones who struggle with too much change
Keep the balance by identifying which new thing is moving you faster towards your goals
CAN VARIETY SABOTAGE?
ACTION: Write down your 90 day goal If the thing that is exciting you is not in alignment with reaching your goal you may choose to put it on hold so you can achieve your most important goal now.

CHALLENGE
High performers are highly motivated by challenge and growth. For my clients, growth is one of their highest drivers. Like I’ve said earlier, I've spent my whole life growing. I’ll be one of those 100 year olds who are jumping out of a plane. And so I attract people who want to grow. Do you attract clients or team members who want to grow? Do the people around you want to be challenged? When you overcome a challenge, you experience an outcome, you have new insights, and you experience the feeling of success. You realize you have solved a problem.

ACTION: Observe what’s going on for your family, your team, or your spouse when you chase too many new things Let them see an immediate positive outcome or reward if you are pursuing something new You might see the big picture, but if they don’t they will resist at every step
DRIVER #4
If your brain is moving towards a reward it pays less attention to the negative This is why it's good to talk about what you've achieved and remember your wins
THE
ACTION: Every time you challenge yourself to do something even a small thing, what small reward can you give yourself even within the next 24 hours?
We recently bought a few pieces of furniture A nice lamp and a beautiful mirror for the hallway We are still mid-renovating, I got so excited about buying these nice new high-quality items because it was an outcome of a challenge I gave myself to do 6 figures in one day
AUGUST 2022 AUTHORITTI5 0 MAGAZINE PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
What reward can you give yourself for getting through something challenging?
The reward can be intrinsic or extrinsic It could be doing something fun like having your hair done, going to play golf, nurturing yourself with a bath, going out with friends, or going on a date. Do something good for you!
Is your spouse resistant to change? Do they have the same capacity for risk or natural creativity? Many of these people like to go slower They want to go a step at a time, so when you are racing towards your new exciting shiny object – remember to reassure the people around you Start to show them things are working Give them rewards and show them your wins along the way

But when was the last time you did something that you truly wanted to do, and when was it that you did something that truly represented who you are as a person? Something that made your heart full of joy in the space of expressing your identity as a unique human being?
It pays to consider what is around you Are you dealing with toxic relationships and people in your life? Now it’s time to distance yourself from them
Ultimately the goal is to be comfortable with who you are and to be free in your skin without feeling like you need to change to impress those around you
Many of us spend a considerable amount of our daily lives trying to live as others want us to live We’ve become so good at it that it’s completely subconscious when we try to fit into a group and pretend to be people we are not
To truly become and express who you truly are in your day to day life, the first and most important step is to do self evaluation.
AUTHORITTI5 0 MAGAZINEAUGUST 2022 MINDFULNESS AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE | 83
Now it’s time to try something different. Pause for a moment and look within yourself to find out who you are Self evaluate and identify also whom you project to be as this can be a great way to direct you to your inner true self Ask yourself, does what you project identify you for who you are? If not you may want to change your wardrobe or even start a new training regimen You may also want to start adopting healthier lifestyle habits such as healthy eating and stopping smoking
Remember that altering your old bad behaviors with new ones will take time and effort However, with consistency and discipline, you can get there
You may also want to consider moving towards a career or path that you would truly enjoy Find out what fills your heart with joy and add it to your life For instance, you may enjoy music or art, nature, hiking, or mountain biking What is it that truly makes you feel free and joyful? Doing such activities on a regular can help you express your true self. As much as you need to find out what makes you joyous and happy, you also need to define what makes you happy This can help you remove established behaviors that eat away at your happiness From your life In their place, you can develop good behaviors
It’s time to remove the weeds and plant new seeds You will also water the new seeds so they grow You can do this by practicing the new habits daily

Use the native speed adjustment tool. Before recording the clip or after you have captured the video, hit the speed button (1x) and select the desired option. While .3x and .5x allow you to slow down your clip, the 1x, 2x, 3x, and 4x let you speed it up.
Why may anyone want to watch the clip?
And what could be the right pitch for your reel? These couple of questions can help you prepare and keep any oversights at bay, which are common when you go all-in with very little preparation. Think about each move and the impact it will leave behind.
The Reels feature comes with a built-in video alignment tool that you can use to align your clips with ease.
Slow Down or Speed Up Your Video
As a Brand, we aspire to be one of the best in the business. Producing highly engaging video content that can grab eyeballs and compel onlookers to send a ton of hearts is where the bucks stop. But how do you create attention-grabbing content, and what are the tools required to make pro-level Instagram Reels? Find Your Niche and Post Clips Frequently You don’t want to be a jack of all trades, do you? While there is nothing wrong with being a person who can be good in several departments, you should always strive to be the master of one craft. Find the niche you wish to rule and go all out to put in your best effort. Remember, when you have only a few seconds to impress, nothing less than a blitzkrieg or admirable reel can garner hearts and likes.

Short and Precise
Tap on the settings icon at the top left corner. After that, tap on Reels. Next, turn on the switch next to Save reels to device.
Keep Camera Tools at the Preferred Side
Captions that are short and sweet catch attention right away, while the ones that cover the entire screen fail to grab attention. The best way to nail Instagram Reels captions is to play with words.
Keep Your Captions
Clip Your Music Precisely Clipping music or selecting the desired part shouldn’t be a hassle when you have a neat tool always ready to do the task for you. Simply, tap on the music button and then search for the songs you want to use. Once you have selected the preferred track, use the slider to choose the desired part of the track.
While some prefer to keep things on the right hand side, others like to go with the left hand side option. It enables them to carry out their work more conveniently. That’s probably the reason why Instagram Reels allow you to choose which side of the screen the camera toolbar should be. When recording a reel, tap on the settings button at the top left corner of the screen and then choose the left or right hand option. The creation tools appear on the left by default.
Using the caption that can send your message loud and clear at a glance without sacrificing the style factor.

Spirituality is meant to bring about harmony and peace. But the diversity of our philosophies, beliefs, concepts, and views about the soul often leads to confusion. To reconcile the noise that clouds spirituality, Michael Singer combines accounts of his life journey to enlightenment - from his years as a hippie-loner to his success as a computer program engineer to his work in spiritual and humanitarian efforts - with lessons on how to put aside conflicting beliefs, let go of worries, and transform misdirected desires. Singer provides a road map to a new way of living not in the moment, but existing in a state of perpetual happiness.
