AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE

EDITOR'S NOTE Welcome to 2022. I am so grateful that we are here, together, for another year. Authoritti5.0 is now 2 years old and stronger than ever before. We will be announcing a lot of initiatives this year. I am super excited to continue to serve coaches, consultants and business owners grow their authority in their niche or industry so they become the go-to brand. I want to start 2022 with idea of possibilities. Just plant that in your conscious mind for a few seconds. In 2012, my mentor told me that if I want to find LOVE, I have to go on the inside of the inside of my TRUE SELF. He said, “It’s there where you will tap into the possibilities of possibilities”. That’s deep, right? When he first shared that with me, I had no idea what that meant. There was no self-help book on the planet that could break that down in normal language. I soon realised that the only way I would ever be able to understand what he was saying was to experience it for myself.

Fast forward to 2021. It has taken me 9 years to figure out what that meant and I am only just scratching the surface. My curiosity has literally opened up pandora’s box and I find myself overwhelmed in a sea of ideas, innovation and manifestation of thought into reality on a regular basis. What I find interesting is all that I experience as possibilities in my mind converts to reality with absolute ease and grace. Granted, I have made some profound shifts in my life the last 10 years and one might say that has contributed to this abundance of ideas and creativity. But, to be honest, I think it’s something much deeper and bigger than that. I was on the search to find the authority on the topic of possibilities and I found exactly what I was looking for. Mel Schwartz.

2021 was a year of self-discovery. I do believe that any crisis presents an opportunity for emotional and spiritual growth. For me, during this pandemic, it has really pushed my boundaries and paradigms on every level. January is a time for deep self-reflection and a time to set our intentions for the year ahead. Goals mean nothing without a vision and daily action. This article sets the stage for 2022. May this year bring you happiness, love, health and prosperity. Here’s to another year of possibilities. Mary

This interview really does deserve a part 2. I am serious. If you love the idea of merging business, science and woo woo – I found the perfect person to explain it in layman’s terms. The featured article with Mel Schwartz will not disappoint. I can assure you. AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE

JANUARY 2022

Mary: Mel Schwartz is a psychotherapist, a marriage counselor, author of The Possibility Principle, a two-time TEDx speaker, a podcaster, and a leadership consultant. He earned his MSW from Columbia University in New York City and his Master of Philosophy from Lancaster University in England. Mel has enjoyed several defining moments in his life, which has enabled him to live the life of the self-actualization that he espouses now in mid-life in business with two young children. Mel had been living the life he had planned, yet he felt a desire for deeper fulfillment, longing for a calling with far deeper purpose. And in one of his defining moments, Mel chose to welcome the uncertainty that lay ahead as he embarked on an entirely new path. He closed his business, applied to and enrolled in graduate school to follow his emerging passion, serving others as a psychotherapist. Mel became excited by new ways of thinking that propelled him to transcend the limiting protocols taught in

AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE

graduate school. He began to immerse himself in emergent ways of thinking, coming from quantum physics philosophy and other areas beyond the field of psychology. This evolving perspective enabled him to forge a singular new therapeutic approach from which to assist his clients. Mary: Mel, I am so excited to interview and have you on the front cover of Authoritti5.0 magazine. Mel: Thank you, Mary. I'm delighted to be with you and look forward to seeing what we can percolate together. Mary: I have so many questions I want to ask you because you combine your core discipline, which is psychotherapy, with quantum physics and philosophy, three subject matters that I'm absolutely obsessed with. So I want to take the reader on a bit of a journey, and I want to start off with my own story to put this into context

and set the stage. In 2012, I went on a 12-month sabbatical. I resigned from my own software company that I built from the ground up. I decided to give up the hamster wheel, which to me meant giving up credit cards, social circles, friends, even family, to literally find myself. I was in a very fortunate position to have two brilliant mentors. One was a professor in philosophy, and the other was an expert on the emotional body. In between all of that, I did a quantum medicine course at Quantum University in Hawaii to learn about myself at a much, much deeper level. What led me on this path was Dr. Candace Pert, who wrote the book Molecules of Emotion. I realized in myself that I am seriously stuck at a cellular level and need help, hence the radical change. Had I not made that radical shift, I actually would not have self-realized who I am, which is obviously an ongoing discovery. So that leads me to you. It seems to me that self-help is keeping 80% of the population stuck on that same hamster

wheel that I was on. We know that self-help doesn't work unless you're prepared to go to the core. And we also know that based on quantum medicine principles, if you will, there are three aspects that need to be diagnosed – the physical, the emotional, and the spiritual. So that throws out 99% of self-help content. Now you've taken your core discipline, which is psychotherapy. You've merged that with quantum physics, with a focus on helping people live more fearlessly and achieve real transformation. So based on what you know now, and me sharing a bit of my personal experience, would you say that quantum physics involves a much bigger possibility of real and permanent personal transformation?

''IF THAT'S THE REALITY OF THE QUANTUM WORLD, WHY COULDN'T IT BE OUR REALITY ALSO?'' AND SO I LOOKED AT THAT STATE OF POSSIBILITY AND THOUGHT, ''WHAT DO WE NEED TO DO TO APPREHEND POSSIBILITY OR POTENTIALITY?''

Mel: Wonderful question. When I say great question, that means it's a question that I don't have quick answer for and opens up my curiosity. One of the aspects of quantum physics is what in physics is known as superposition, which is a suspended state of reality waiting for the next instant to manifest. And I looked at what called the quantum wave-particle duality in physics. And without going into the science of it, I extrapolate that and said, ''If that's the reality of the quantum world, why couldn't it be our reality also?'' And so I looked at that state of possibility and thought, ''What do we need to do to apprehend possibility or potentiality?'' And my insight was in the nanosecond before my next thought that I exist in this state of pure potential. But as humans, we tend to keep replicating the same thought ad nauseum. We become imprisoned by thought, but where does the thought come from? The thought comes from beliefs and experiences. And we confuse beliefs with being truth. So when I am working with people and see them a lot in with certainty, I move into what the belief is

from being to becoming from a human being to a human becoming

AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE

creating this wellspring of thoughts that is imprisoning them. So the state of possibility that I was searching for was ''Could I apprehend that nanosecond before my next thought?'' I turned to philosophy. I stumbled upon the work of Alfred North Whitehead, a wonderful philosopher who described something that he called concrescence. So concrescence, as he referred to as the stirring of energy before a thing actually becomes a thing. There's an energy before it manifests physically. So I looked at Whitehead's work around concrescence. And then I held up superposition and I kind of combined them, which is what I do.

COVER

And then there was an alchemy for me. And out of that outcome is that aha moment right there. So if I can learn to apprehend the thought, even just before it becomes a thought, I might get to be the master of my thinking, the master of my destiny. I might be able to access that realm of possibility. So I thought, ''Well, how do I do that?'' I started to develop what I call muscle memory throughout the day. I tune in and say, ''What was the last thought I had?'' I'd see it. I wouldn't judge it. I wouldn't interface with it. It's kind of like fishing where you catch and release. I see it and release it, trying to develop a muscle memory, the keener awareness

so that there could be a sense of self that is sovereign to thought. I should add that the work of physicist David Bohm was invaluable to me in learning this process as well. So I took Bohm, his work around thought, his work with Jiddu Krishnamurti around thought, looked at the state of superposition in physics, looked at the work of Whitehead in conquests and started to see my breakthrough. Now, of course, as soon as I did that, I had to try it in my therapy practice. And this is now about 18 years of practice as a therapist. And what I say to the people who are interested in working with me on this is that it may not look like traditional therapy. It isn't traditional therapy. It is the visibility that develops the muscle memory around thought and not be the thought. It's not complex. It's simple. It's not easy, because it requires determination and willfulness, but it is not complex. It's just an exercise. So we will devote many hours to working out physically for the reward, and we also need to devote hours and hours a week to working out this apprehension, to see feeling, not become the thought of feeling. Here's a wellspring of intuitive wisdom that occurs. So I don't much operate from thinking anymore. I've learned to access a deeper place, which I call new intuitive wisdom. It's not hunch; it's not guesswork. It's just a deeper knowing. Mary: Wow. So, based on that, do you believe that we can then shed our old beliefs, behaviors, and non-serving thoughts permanently? Mel: Well, we can shed our old beliefs and thoughts permanently, Mary, but we are of course developing new beliefs and thoughts. We're not existing in the void unless we’re meditating on the mountain top forever, but as we're developing new beliefs, we need to see them as our operating belief at this moment in time, instead of being wed to the truth or the truth about us. I wrote an article a long time ago called ''Who Am I?'' And in that article, I proposed that is the wrong question to ask because it begs for a specific and fixed answer. And we’re not fixed in place. We need to see ourselves as moving from being to becoming from a human being to a human becoming. So instead, we should ask, ‘’How would I like to experience myself in my life?'' That's in the flow. It's not material; it's not in

earth. So to see this all from a state of flow, which is my belief, as long as I can see it, I'm not wed to it. I'm not imprisoned by it as long as I don't confuse it with the truth. Mary: In one of your videos, you talk about how staying stuck in your familiar zone is like sleep-walking through life. And I'm guessing that you've based this also on your own personal experience. How do we become conscious of our environment and create an entirely new reality? Because we're all running on this hamster wheel, you know: We're watching the TV, and it's almost like we do as we're told. I don't watch TV. We don't even have a TV in our home. My kids don't watch TV. I have no concept of what's going on from a mass media standpoint. But this idea of consciousness really troubles me because there are so many different variations of it. I think that one way to be curious, or to ask constructive questions or have the ability to self-inquire requires a high level of being present and grounded and conscious. How do we get to that state? Mel: So the thoughts that I'm having are telling me it is rather paradoxical to be grounded; it actually requires a flight from being grounded. To be grounded, to me, suggests that I have to embrace uncertainty. When I am in any way seeking the comfort or familiar zone of predictability, that is me literally grounded, but stagnating. For me, to be truly

AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE

|

8

JANUARY 2022

conscious and aware might require not being grounded or not using the word grounded in the way we ordinarily would. So being at peace, being centered for me requires the embrace of uncertainty. Now that doesn't mean life has to be radically challenging. I have to know what time the train arrives or when the kids come home from school, but to embrace uncertainty – another core principle of quantum physics – requires becoming comfortable with not knowing. Western culture shuns confusion and not knowing, so truly embracing confusion and not having an answer to a question is an embarrassment. When I read a book, if I understand most of what was written in the book, it was a waste of my time. So I have a different paradigm, which is to embrace confusion, because as long as I don't judge myself, then I'm opening up the portal of uncertainty, which is where new insight comes from. Mary: I actually love that idea, Mel, because it almost gives you permission to set yourself free from the paradigm that we've all bought into. I mean, we all go into a crisis. How do you grow if you're not in some form of crisis? So I agree with that standpoint. We buy an ideology; I know I've been through this. I think I've got to be the perfect mom, I don't want to be judged. I want to make sure that I’m not seen as the left-field mom or the black sheep. So we kind of put all these limitations on ourselves to fit into a box. It's when we let go of that box and we

AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE

I LOOKED AT WHITEHEAD'S WORK AROUND CONQUESTS. AND THEN I HELD UP SUPER POSITIONED IN PHYSICS AND I KIND OF COMBINED THEM, WHICH IS WHAT I DO. think, ''I just don't care what people think. It is the way it is. This is my reality.'' There is a sense of freedom with that. Mel: Well, what you're speaking to becomes the core of authentic self-esteem. When we're worried or concerned about what we think, other people think that is what I call other-esteem and that betrays authentic self-esteem. Now I'm not proposing that we should be callous or insensitive. Everyone has opinions, but when we elevate someone's opinion and think of it as a judgment, we're projecting our judgment of self onto someone else. So I'm fond of saying that unless I'm appearing in the courthouse, only the person in the long black robes gets to be my judge; no one else does.

COVER

Mary: So can we just go back to the article that you wrote on ''Who Am I?'' I actually love that. I know it got huge attention. I think it even went viral. The interesting thing is that when I went on my 12-month sabbatical, the first thing I did was walk to my computer and Google ''Who Am I?'' I mean, it's just one of those questions that I think a lot of people ask. And it actually was the impetus of the beginning of that journey for me, which is ongoing, but it was the trigger, if you will. So I know you say we should be asking different questions like, ''How would I like to experience my life?'' It is a more expansive question obviously, but when we're asking questions like that – how do I, what do I, why do I – those types of questions for me are a process that I use through a form of journaling. When I'm journaling, it's like I'm writing to my higher self and I'm asking questions that I actually cannot solve with a linear mindset. I just don't have the answer. It's not possible for me to solve it. So turning to journaling for me has been a really interesting process almost like peeling the onion layers off. I'm talking to something out there, I'm writing to something out there, and I'm asking something. And what's interesting is that I always get the answer. Is that a phenomena? I know people are listening to this right now, saying, ''I want to know the answer.'' So what's going on there?

Mel: I would say what you're experiencing is a correspondence. By asking questions or reflecting, you're corresponding with the universe. Now what do we mean by this? I'm not speaking as a scientist, and I'm not speaking in a new age-y spiritual way. I’m speaking in a more integrative way. In quantum physics and spirituality is the science and forms a sense of oneness. It's rather like synchronicity, a term coined by Carl Jung to describe when some phenomena occurs that cannot be attributed to coincidence or cause and effect, but it has a quality of profound, personal meaning to you. I've experienced synchronicity a number of times, which have been life-altering. The material universe is corresponding with our conscious state. We are momentarily as one. And when you're journaling, you're corresponding with the inestimable, in a profound intelligence new wisdom of the universe. So you are temporarily at one, and all of the information is available and you get your answers. Mary: I love that. That's exactly the answer I was looking for. You talk about eight words that create havoc in our lives and keep us stuck. You say the words are IS, AM, ARE, WERE, WAS, BE, SEEN, BECOMING. You said that these words are fixed. Can you unpack this for us? I found this really fascinating, and it actually made me open up and have a much bigger dialogue within myself. It forced me to just stop and really think about that and how they apply in my vocabulary on a day-to-day basis. So for the sake of our readers and listeners, can you take us on a journey on what that actually means? Mel: I did not originate this thought. It came from a book called Science and Sanity written by Alfred Korzybski, an engineer in the 1930s. It's called E prime language,

eliminating the to be verbs. They are the only verbs that are not action. They're innate and fixed. So in my conversations with brave thinkers, the question comes up. ''Why are we still stuck in the 17th century worldview of object-oriented reality given to us by Newton and Descartes?'' And as I considered it, I realized it's because our thoughts are rooted in ''to be'' verbs, a language that is inconsistent with flow, movement, and quantum reality. So we haven't sufficiently experienced a paradigm shift because our language is rooted in century-old thinking. So let's just make that come to life in an argument. Let’s say somebody’s making an objective statement, using ''to be'' verbs: ''You are disrespectful.'' The other person reacts, "No, I am not." There is no where to go in this conversation. I will reframe it. Say that without using a to be verb: ''I experienced you as not caring about me.'' I can't say you're wrong because now we're speaking of feelings and perception, what the person feels. The core of relationship is ''Do you care how I feel?'' But we speak objectively using ''to be'' verbs. One evening in a group I was facilitating, someone said, '' I'm a loser. I am a loser.'' I asked them to restate it without a ''to be'' verb. He said, ''I feel like a loser. I've always felt like a loser,'' but this face lightened up. And I asked him ''What's going on?'' He said ''That’s how I've always felt, but that could change. I could feel

COVER

differently. If I AM a loser, nothing changes.'' Our struggle with change personally, individually, and in relationships is so much rooted in our being stuck in ''to be'' verbs. I gave a TEDx talk on this topic. I'm very passionate about it, but it's a reach because it's not simple and quick. And we live in a world in the culture where we want quick fixes, but so much of our communication, relationships, and growth or pathology are expressed as ''I am a depressed person'' rather than ''I feel depressed.'' Mary: I know you're an expert on relationships, so I want to touch on that for a moment, but from a business relationship standpoint, because the audience here is mainly business owners. I have this concept that I sell without selling. That's just my approach to sales, if you will. And my approach to sales and marketing is to get people to feel me at a heart level first and foremost. It's a longer game, but I attract the right clients all the time. So for me, Mel, it means I want to understand where my prospect is on the journey of life and start the dialogue from that place. In fact, it takes me 60 touchpoints before I convert a prospect into a client. Now that's based obviously on many years of experience, but you actually have a methodology that you teach that invites a dialogue based on empathy and compassion. Can you share how we could use that approach in a business scenario?

And we live in a world in the culture where we want quick fixes, but so much of our communication, relationships, and growth or pathology are expressed as ''I am a depressed person'' rather than ''I feel depressed.''

AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE

Mel: Communication lies at the heart of shared meaning. Shared meaning suggests that we use the same words that may have different meanings. For example, in a couple’s session, a woman says to her husband, “You're not intimate. You don't know how to be intimate. '' He gets his back up and says ‘’Of course I do.'' I have them each share what they mean by the word intimate. They mean different things. So in trying to establish a rapport and a deeper relationship business-wise, have curiosity about the words. What does that word mean to you? I want to be sure I understand what that experience was. To have a curiosity opens up the pathway to dialogue. So dialogue coming from the Greek dialogis which means flow of meaning. Dialogue means I suspend everything I think I know, and I put it up on the shelf and I inquire. If I'm inquiring and curious, then I get to that place that you just described, that you're looking for. It's by not knowing but embracing

COVER

uncertainty that creates real genuine dialogue, a rare phenomenon. We have truncated conversations; we cut each other off. We don't have shared meaning. It requires slowing down and being curious, which then moves us into the field of empathy and compassion. Mary: Would you then say that self-inquiry is important? You know, as I mentioned before, that my version of self-inquiry is actually going through that journaling process and asking big questions. What, how, what, why, etc. You said you took the woo out of it, being a little bit more pragmatic, but is that an important part of the process of becoming compassionate and empathetic and having real dialogue? Going to a place of feeling and being rather than doing, do you see that self-inquiry is a really big deal? Mel: Well, going back to shared meaning, it depends upon what you mean, what I mean, and what the readers mean by the term self-inquiry. For some people, that would be analyzing itself, which is dangerous. I don't believe in the analyzing, because when we analyze it’s as a deep incisive cut and we're operating in wholeness. I do believe in self-reflection, evaluating, which is an attunement. So self-reflection for me is tuning into the disparate parts of myself and hearing the part that will speak to me. It may be the body, it may be the emotions, it may be my history, but tuning in is the key for me. It's more inductive than reductive. Mary: Can you help us understand – in very layman words – the relationship of the mind, the brain, and the body, and who's driving our destiny? Is it the mind, the brain, or the body?

Mel: Mind, body, brain are words that we created to describe aspects of ourselves. Is there really mind, body, brain? Do they exist unto themselves? Of course not. Thought and language started to make separate compartments of things that were not separate compartments. I'm fond of saying there's no mind-body connection because there's no mind-body separation. So the word connection is a fallacy. My personal belief, specifically around this, is that brain is the receptor. It's not the producer of thought and feeling. I describe it this way. If you're walking at the beach, you look behind yourself and you see your footprint in the sand. You wouldn't think the sand produced your footprint; you know your foot left its impression there. Thought and feeling leave this impression on the brain. The good news there is that we're not hardwired. We have no wires as the 17th century machine-like paradigm suggested, and we are not at the mercy of our brain chemistry. Once we come into a healthy habit of thought and feeling, our brain chemistry shifts accordingly. So I look at it through a vista of wholeness, and I always remind myself that these terms don't exist in reality. We made them up to advance knowledge and for descriptive reasons, but it's always essential that we remember that we made it all up; otherwise, we become servant to the terms and the words and this is useless. Mary: Where do possibilities live then? You’re an authority on that one

word: Where do possibilities actually live? Mel: Everywhere? That's the natural state of being. It is the unnatural state that we foreclose on possibilities because of the way we were trained to think and live. Mary: I have one last question: If you could meet somebody who’s no longer living, who would it be and what would you ask or what would you want to know?

The importance of self-love BY FALGUNI KATIRA

AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE

JANUARY 2022

AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE

In the previous article we looked at what self love is and what are the different ways we can create self love. Now, let’s look at why self love is important. It is important for you to love and take good care of yourself because self-love helps inner growth. these are some of the importance of loving yourself. Self-assurance - it’s easy for one to appreciate his/her weaknesses and strengths. You accept yourself in whatever way you are and focus on making a better you. Sometimes acknowledging and accepting your mistake makes you feel better and at peace with everything.

MINDFULNESS

HOW TO HAVE A GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH ONESELF Self-love is also about building and maintaining a good relationship with oneself. It’s important to understand your relationship and make it better. How you treat and love yourself will determine how people will treat and love you. These tips could help you love yourself better. Have peace with yourself with every little thing you have. Be content and don’t wish for what others have. Things on social media might look interesting and nice but some are not real. Be you at all times.

You will always have you - it won’t mean anything if your friends and family turn their backs on you because, with self-love, you will depend on yourself and will always try your best to make yourself happy with no disappointments.

Have routines, set activities for you to do like running in the evening, going to the gym, and reading. Create time for yourself and do what you love. It’s never that serious. Make a plan that you can follow easily.

It helps in making good choices - with self-love, one knows what is good and best for him/her. One can guide and protect his/her health. Listen and follow your heart and brain to avoid regrets later on in life.

Take some time off social media and be interested in real-life events. Know what is going on around the world and stay updated. Social media is full of stuff that can cause one to fall into the bad habit of comparing themselves with others. To be safe, learn to take time away from it.

Helps in creating healthy relationships - one can choose the type of people to be around. If one has self-love, it means he/she has love within thus making it easy for one to love and treat people kindly. Take some love and give it back but be careful. People can make a great influence on your life. Helps you set boundaries - this shows that one knows his /her values. People will love you the same way you love yourself. One should not accept less for themselves. Take and give back the same type of energy you receive from people. If things don't work out as planned don't force, move on and explore new opportunities. Positive thinking -one gains a positive state of mind and reduces the chances of falling into depression or anxiety. One can go out freely and interact with people without thinking of what others are thinking of them. It is always a good idea to feed your mind and life with positive energy.

Acknowledge the fact that nobody is perfect and learn to forgive yourself. Have positive energy and learn not to hold grudges with anyone. Let go and let live. Blaming yourself might make things worse for you just accept and move on. Keep tabs on your life events on a piece of paper. Have a diary where you write things after they happen. This helps you grow because no situation is permanent and better days are usually ahead. Reading it someday after writing it will make you realize your growth and you will be smiling again. Do not try to control things that are happening in your life. Be easy and patient with yourself. Do not overthink anything. Meditate on your life, try and find ways of becoming a better version of yourself. Look at both the good and bad sides of things. Set aside time for you to embark and think about your life. Reflect on the good things for they bring you joy.

Planning Success in 2022 BY JOHN KNOTTS

JANUARY 2022

AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE

The ball has dropped, champagne was drunk, and the calendar flipped to 2022. Welcome to a brandnew year for you and your business. The year of 2020 was truly a dumpster fire of a year! Too many horrible things occurred in 2020 and many people wished these issues would have been longgone in 2021. In fact, every day of 2021 last year, I ended my social media posts with the hashtag #thisisnot2021. This was a constant reminder for me and others to constantly think and plan past that terrible year and to not dwell on it. With the Delta variant and now Omicron, the world still is not back to my sense of normal. However, things must continue to move forward. To strengthen your success in 2022, it is best to have a plan of action. If you have not built your 2022 plan, now is the time to make it happen. Let me share five simple steps to make your business and your life a planned success this year.

1.Review Sit down and review your accomplishments, successes, challenges, and failures in 2021. Reflect on what happened, what worked and went right, and what went wrong. If you had formal plans for 2021, how did you do in light of them? Were you successful or not? In 2021, I planned to professionally publish at least 52 articles in business magazines and periodicals. All in total, I ended up publishing 68 times. I also learned some important lessons about article search engine optimization (SEO), which I will apply in 2022. In contrast to this success last year, I also said a stretch target to publish three new books in 2021. Two of these books were written and are in edit but will not be published until next year.

GROWING, SCALING AND IMPROVING YOUR BUSINESS

Armed with this information and your honest assessment, you are ready to plan out 2022.

2. Key Objectives Your next step is to brainstorm the expectations you have for the coming year. Obviously, if you planned to get something done in 2021 and did not, it should probably carry over to 2022. I find it best to have a vision in place and three to six major goal areas established that frame the vision’s success. My six goal areas for the last 21 years have been Business, Education, Certification, Author, Network, and Speaker. Your analysis and reflection of 2021 will significantly help you plan out the year to come. Again, this year, my plan is to publish three new books under my Author goal area. I have a better idea of what held me back in 2021 and I believe that I can overcome those roadblocks this year. Once you have all your annual objectives written down, you are ready to break them further down into major initiatives.

3. Build the Plan Using a simple 12-month calendar, write down the month when each of your identified objectives must be completed. For instance, I want to have one of my books published by the end of the second quarter, June 2022. With all your objectives listed on your calendar, backwards plan each one over the preceding months. Consider what happened in 2021 and if this could occur again in 2022 – good or bad. Once you have every objective broken out into initiatives planned to complete every month or so, you can take a step back and look at your plan with

an objective eye. Are you trying to get too much done at a certain time of the year? What might happen if the schedule slips? Have you considered holidays, vacations, and major events they could throw a wrench in your plans?

Make any required adjustments and finalize your plan. This is your most important resource for the year – keep it handy and where you will see it most often.

4. Implement and Review With your plan in place, it is time to get to work. If possible, try to focus on implementing one week at a time. With a weekly to do list you can emphasize moving the needle every day or at least every week. I suggest you track your progress, so you can constantly look back on what has happened. At the end of each quarter, take some time to assess what you have accomplished in examine your successes, challenges, and failures.

5. Adjust Mike Tyson once said, “Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face.” Reality and planning are two different things. After your quarterly review, make necessary adjustments to the rest of the year.

John portrays himself as a Success Incubator with his company Crosscutter Enterprises. His deep thought leadership on #business and #success can be found on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and his website, www.crossctr.com.

Do not be discouraged! Adjust and press on. By constantly reflecting back on what and why, you will improve your approach. Also, you may find that some things are moving faster than expected – like my publishing of more articles last year. If necessary, leverage successes to help improve areas that are struggling. If something new crops up that you did not plan for, simply adjust your plans. Last year, in February on Valentine’s Day, all of Texas was hit with a major snowstorm – Snowmageddon. This disaster-level event cost our business over $12,000 in damages and put many things on hold for several weeks. With a plan in hand, it is very easy to see how you can adjust when something like this occurs. Plan your success in 2022! I hope these simple five steps help you be extra successful this year. One frustrating aspect of the job search process is the idea you must “get out there and network” or “go foster relationships.” Many of my executive-level clients ask, “Well, exactly how do I do that?” This is an especially painful or daunting prospect for introverts or those suffering from social anxiety. The good news is there are safe options for networking, relationship building, and finding people with similar interests by attending inperson and online virtual events. I’m pleased to share my Q&A with David Siegel, the CEO of Meetup, the largest platform for finding and building local community. He has over 20 years of experience as a technology and digital media executive leading organizations through innovative product development, rapid revenue growth, and digital traffic acceleration. Prior to joining Meetup, David was CEO of Investopedia and before that, President of Seeking Alpha. David holds a BA in Philosophy, Politics & Economics, and an

MBA from the University of Pennsylvania. He is an adjunct professor at Columbia University where he teaches strategic planning and entrepreneurship. He hosts the podcast, Keep Connected, which is dedicated to the power of community and is the author of the soon-to-be-released book, Decide & Conquer. What are ways people have successfully used the Meetup platform as a conduit to networking and finding rewarding jobs? How many active job-related groups are there? The top two categories for Meetup are tech and career or business groups. When it comes to groups focused on networking, growing your career, and building career paths, we have over 40,000 groups around the world and you can find places to network and grow your career in one of 300,000 groups across 190 countries. On average, we have 100,000 Meetup events taking place every single week. My philosophy about networking is that it should be about getting to know people personally and building relationships. I’ve got many great examples to illustrate how building personal relationships can lead to opportunities. One is a group organizer in California who owns two Meetup groups. One is a networking group he started to help build his career, and the other is a bowling group. He told me he got two different jobs from relationships he developed within the bowling group, and he met his best friend there, too. This is the beautiful overlap between the personal and professional. If you are looking for a job, the best thing you can do is find something you are passionate about, get out and find people and groups that share your passions, whether that is board games, Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan club, or Harry Potter trivia. How did the pandemic open opportunities for people to connect literally from anywhere?

MY PHILOSOPHY ABOUT NETWORKING IS THAT IT SHOULD BE ABOUT GETTING TO KNOW PEOPLE PERSONALLY AND BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS.

I was talking to someone who runs an ecstatic dance Meetup group that was originally in St. Louis with ten people attending. They opened it up online and they now have 35 people coming to every meeting from twelve countries like Argentina, Bulgaria, and Israel. Does this help with job opportunities? Yes! Everything can potentially help. One of the things I like to say is that luck is hard work. Our job is to work hard to put ourselves in situations where luck ends up happening. I call it putting yourself in the line of fire of opportunities. Beautiful! That’s exactly right. That is why Meetup is so important. If you put yourself out there enough and go to different events, something will happen. I met with an organizer who wanted to build up his company by meeting more people. He committed himself to go to a Meetup event every single week for 52 weeks. He met thousands of people. Another beautiful story is about a homeless veteran in Australia who did not have an advanced education. He started attending groups to learn technology and basic JavaScript. He’s attended over 1000 events. He met his wife through a Meetup event, got his first job after being homeless, and now devotes his life to creating Meetup events to help other people grow personally and professionally. What does it feel like to lead an organization that has that kind of impact on people? This is my life’s purpose. The most important thing is creating a life for your family. The second most important thing is to have an impact. I spend my time helping to cure the loneliness epidemic, which is enormous in this world. The way I started my career was in Human Resources, which is not common for a CEO. I care deeply about helping people. Did you know 46% of people regularly feel lonely and for GenZ, it's higher – about 62%. This can lead to depression and other harmful outcomes. Twenty-five percent of people don't have one trusted confidant. Meetup addresses the loneliness epidemic and can be part of a cure. I met a man who told me he spent eight hours a day playing video games at his home in Texas. His brother encouraged

him to get out there and do something else. He ended up going to only five group events for an outdoor club and then was asked by the outgoing organizer to take over the group. That was 10 years ago. Since then, he's hosted over 900 events. There have been marriages and dozens and dozens of jobs that have come out of the relationships in this group. And what is funny is, he is the biggest introvert. When you give an introvert the opportunity to be a leader, that’s the greatest gift you could give them. It is such a confidence builder to have a whole community looking up to you. It gives you a sense of your life’s purpose. I listened to your podcast with David Spinks. The two of you spoke about having zero expectations as you enter an ecosystem like Meetup and that purpose and expectation are two different things. There can be purpose in connecting and networking with no expectation of a specific outcome. Could you expand on this and give advice to job seekers? It’s very important for job seekers to reduce their expectations because the higher your expectation, the greater your potential disappointment will be if it doesn’t work out.

WHEN YOU GIVE AN INTROVERT THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE A LEADER, THAT’S THE GREATEST GIFT YOU COULD GIVE THEM.

Often when job seeking, your conversation is not going to lead to something, which means you're going to end up with a batting average of one in ten. If you can get a job from ten meetings, that means that nine of the ten times, you’re unhappy. The higher the expectation you have that a job will come out of a conversation, the more likely you will be unhappy. This leads to you to not wanting to do it again because the experience was painful. The best thing to do is to have a goal and purpose to meet amazing people, and while you might want a job, it might take a meaningful amount of time. But your goal should be to simply connect with people, and the job will end up finding you, so long as you meet the right people and have the right conversations. It’s like dating. If you expect every date will lead to your future spouse, it might make you miserable. I have seen you quoted as saying, “Meetup is a company focused on building community with the underlying belief we become better people when we’re around other people.” Would you talk about how Meetup maintains its mission in the wake of the pandemic? Our mission statement is to empower personal growth through real human connections. We realize personal and professional growth are intertwined – they overlap. Real human connections are about building relationships with

people whether it’s online or in person. When the pandemic hit, we doubled down on our mission to empower personal growth and real human connection whether it is in person or not. Meetup was founded by Scott Heiferman right after 9/11. He saw people who were vulnerable, in trauma, and needing community. They needed to be around other people. He gathered a bunch of people together in his building and realized it should not take a tragedy to create community. That is how Meetup was born. We are coming up on our 20-year anniversary. Our platform supports and enables people to take action, but they need to act for themselves. We are not fishing for them. We are teaching people how to fish and creating the environment. They need to get themselves off the couch to do things. We know people need to meet up with others even more now when they’re homebound than ever before. We made a hard pivot when the pandemic hit and within three days started hosting online events. In the last year and a half, we’ve had over 5,000,000 online events! What role does Meetup play in bringing very different people together? One of my core beliefs in life is that xenophobia and hate

come from ignorance. Too often our society is separated by color, religion, socioeconomic groups, etc. But, if someone is really obsessed with beanie babies or horror films, it doesn’t matter their religion or a socioeconomic group. Meetup brings people together with similar interests but otherwise very different from each other. Ageism is a real thing and there are perceptions around people who are in their late 40s or 50s by people in their 20s and vice versa. The reality is many of those people don’t interact with people who are 30 years younger or older than they are – so Meetup serves to bring people together who could look totally different from each other but share common passions and interests. This allows people to check stereotypes and assumptions and ask questions that help build meaningful relationships they would never encounter otherwise. What are some creative ways you have seen people come together despite the pandemic? There are so many success stories about people bonding through online events. For example, I know of a running group where the people would go for individual runs, get back together online, drink beers, and talk about their runs together. There were cooking and dinner party groups where people would send out a recipe, set their laptops up in the kitchen and cook and eat together. I’ve felt sad for our younger workforce because I know I met many of my best friends in the formative years of my career. Golf outings, going for beers or margaritas, and the in-house candle parties. These are my friends thirty years later. These are the people I turn to in times of difficulty. I read on a LinkedIn post that Meetup has a relationship with Starbucks. Would you tell me more about that? The primary way people socialize, especially for younger people, has been at our offices. The second place we socialize is at home. The third place are coffee shops, like Starbucks, which is known for being that third place where people meet. With the pandemic,

OUR PLATFORM SUPPORTS AND ENABLES PEOPLE TO TAKE ACTION, BUT THEY NEED TO ACT FOR THEMSELVES. WE ARE NOT FISHING FOR THEM. WE ARE TEACHING PEOPLE HOW TO FISH AND CREATING THE ENVIRONMENT.

we have not had a way to hang out with our colleagues. We are not seeing people. Building a local community outside of work can be that third place. Since Starbucks is known for being a community hub and Meetup is known for being a community building platform, it made sense for the two brands to team up. When I told the CEO and chairman of Starbucks that the number two place where people attend Meetup events is Starbucks, he asked me how they could become number one. So, we formed a partnership with Starbucks at a time when they are celebrating their 50th anniversary and we at Meetup are celebrating our 20th. Both are iconic brands that are all about gathering and helping people to connect with other people. It’s a no-brainer because they have the venues, and we connect people together. It’s going to be a beautiful thing.

Another thing I heard you talk about on one of your podcast episodes was the pendulum swing due to working from home. We’ve gone from being socially removed and introverted to over-socializing. How do you recommend people find a happy medium or their sweet spot? Let me tell you about David Good. David is a long-time introvert, and he decided that he was going to devote his time and his energy towards helping people who were new to the city where he lives in Michigan.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT

WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR CAREER – YOU ARE THE PRODUCT. EVEN IF YOU’RE IMPERFECT AND YOU FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE, GET YOUR PRODUCT OUT THERE. BUILD RELATIONSHIPS, GET FEEDBACK, AND LEARN SO

He created a Meetup group where many of the participants don’t necessarily know many people. David ended up establishing a brand as someone who helps people come together. He became the go-to connection expert even though he’s a strong introvert. I talk with my clients about how they can showcase their thought leadership in ways that feel authentic to them. The idea is to start conversations that are relevant to their field because it is a great way to build their brand and future-proof their career. What are ways you’ve seen unlikely people establish their brand through the platform? Meetup is a great way to grow your thought leadership and your business. There is a woman who is a financial advisor who used Meetup to build her practice by creating a small group of women who got together to become more educated on personal finance. She has been helping women become less intimidated about managing their finances and save money. She’s gained 50+ clients for her financial advisory practice from the exposure alone. When you share your knowledge and provide a service, people are attracted to you and want to build relationships with you because you’re doing it to genuinely help. There are authors who write books who build their brands through Meetup groups, and it helps with book sales, speaking engagements, TED talks, etc. For introverted jobseekers who are having a hard time pulling the trigger to find a Meetup event to join, what encouragement would you give them? What are ways to “find their people”? Many introverts sign up and RSVP to an event and then don’t go. Some even drive to the event, look in the

YOU CAN FIGURE OUT HOW TO ADJUST YOUR APPROACH.

window, and walk away. They can’t do it. They feel intimidated. So, here is some advice. Number one is to commit yourself. If you RSVP, show up. Number two is if you go the first time and it’s not what you expected but you see the group’s potential, show up at least one more time. Don’t just give it one shot and think it’s over. Be persistent and give it a second try. Third, take a buddy or someone you know as a security blanket. Even if you spend all your time with your friend, the next time you go you’ll be more open to introducing yourself to new people. Meetup has hundreds of groups dedicated to introverts. You can find them by typing in the term introvert. The great thing about these groups is they are run by like-minded people who understand how to approach introverts and create safe and secure meeting environments. There are job seekers at home right now, reading this article, who feel hopeless. They may have had little connection for two years. Why is it so important for people to get together? How do people take that first step when they feel vulnerable? First, acknowledge there are thousands of other people like you in your city. You’re not the only person

that has social anxiety right now. This is magnified by the pandemic because you’ve had less practice and less time around people. Second, find smaller groups of people to get together with. The average Meetup group is seven to eight people, not twenty or fifty. Do not go to a conference. Find a small group or event with 3-4 people showing up, and you’ll be more comfortable. Work your way up. It’s about taking baby steps. Even our own employees have expressed that it has been hard for them and feel grateful once they force themselves to attend a couple of meetings. So, what I would say is create a mechanism that forces you to meet with people once a week or once a month. The key is to set specific goals and start doing things. Break the habit of watching Netflix in the comfort of your home. Find an accountability partner to make sure you go. What are some missed opportunities you wish people would take advantage of? Inertia and analysis paralysis are comfortable states for many people because they minimize risks, and decrease the likelihood of failure because you don’t act. Perfect is the enemy of good enough. One of the things I teach in a class at Columbia is about a minimum viable product. Get your product out there in the market, even if it is terrible. Get people to react so you can learn as much as possible. When it comes to your career – you are the product. Even if you’re imperfect and you feel uncomfortable, get your product out there. Build relationships, get feedback, and learn so you can figure out how to adjust your approach. Take the lean startup approach and apply it to your career by testing your product and getting feedback. It is all about pivoting and seeing what resonates. How can companies take advantage of Meetup to attract a diverse talent pool? Are you seeing recruiters on the platform? Or executive search consultants? Many companies use Meetup to attend events where

CAREER DEVELOPMENT

there is a pool of talent. It is great for recruiting and finding jobs. We’ve had thousands of people connect and cofound businesses, and we have recruiters come to our events. It’s no accident that many of the people who join the Meetup team have been longtime members and organizers. If a company is looking for greater exposure and diversity – attend an event in your city focused on people of color, LGBTQ, women, etc. in an industry and you’ll be able to find amazing candidates. We have about 5000 different companies that sponsor Meetup events. For example, Google has 350 different Meetup groups and AWS has 200 groups. Another way to find a company to work for is to go to an event that’s being sponsored by that company because the organizer is a direct conduit. Why Meetup over competitors? What distinguishes Meetup from other options in the marketplace? Facebook is focused on online, and Meetup is focused much more on getting people to get together in person to do things. If you want to message back and forth with someone and meet people who share your common interests, you can join a Facebook group. If you want to go to an event, meet people, and have in-person dialogue, then Meetup is for you. Our brand is associated with “in real life” friendships and their brand is much committed to keeping the conversation going online. I’d say that is the biggest difference. Do you follow authors who write about business, management, or leadership? Any resources to recommend? I like books about hiring great management teams and influencing people. The classic go-to is Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People. For the class I teach at Columbia there are several required readings like The Hard Thing About Hard Things by Ben Horowitz or Tony Hsieh's book, Delivering Happiness. I also like Lean Startup by Eric Ries, and another is The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg.

And now it seems that everyone tells us we need to launch a course, write a book, start a podcast, and go live on TikTok. All at the same time. And while getting 6 pack abs, being a good father, logging 8 hours of sleep—- while you bask on the beach with your laptop, working 4 hours a week.

The more tools you get, the further you wander from the thing you’re an expert in. After all, you’re just one funnel away. Next up is the Field of Dreams crowd, who believe that if you build it, they will come. I know a lot of people who are in their 60’s and 70’s, who are still hoping magic will happen for them. Sadly, they die chasing the dream, citing Susan Boyle, Andres Segovia, and Colonel Harlan Sanders. Every one of these paths leads to a dead end.

The software vendors say they can automate your social media, but we know this doesn’t work. Certainly, these tools can schedule posts across a bunch of social networks, but whether they drive any traffic or leads is another story. And I’ve been at digital marketing for over 30 years, back when it was called other terms, and whatever new names like “influencer marketing” we’ll hear it called in the future. The reason that most of these paths fail is not because they don’t work or because people are trying to scam us.

You could go the cheap route and hire a bunch of virtual assistants to produce garbage content in your name. This is certainly an affordable way to ruin your brand, plus cause people to question your authenticity and competency.

It’s simply this- it’s easy to sell tools and consulting- but process is hard.

Another option is to become a pro at social media. You could invest in a high ticket course from someone promising you can get rich following their secret techniques. After you buy the course, you realize their plan is show you that selling courses on how to get rich on social media is how to get rich on social media. So maybe you join their affiliate program.

Process is systematizing what you do.

Then there’s the latest tool- some AI thing that is too complex for us to attempt to understand, but still necessary to buy because it’s 90% off via an AppSumo lifetime offer. The tool probably works, but it’s so far outside your actual area of experience, unless your field happens to be digital marketing tools.

Few people are asking for process, which is hard to implement and isn’t sexy.

Just like a dentist sees you for only 5 minutes out of your 90 minute visit, since she has dental assistants using tools, all as part of a process. Your expertise is the most scarce resource here, so you need first to build a process around it to repurpose and distribute the content you’ve already made, so that it does the work for you, instead of you being the worker in the factory. Inventory your past webinars, speaking, social media posts, books, plus any media about you or awards you’ve received.

The main stages of your process are content creation (which is you), repurposing (editing, which is not you), distribution (not you, but VAs using tools), and amplification (someone, not a bot, boosting your posts — optimizing the ones that drive the best leads). // insert diagram of the “content factory”. Imagine you wanted to build the world’s most amazing automotive. Perhaps you’d start with a Ferrari engine. Then add in a Lamborghini transmission. And some Porsche brakes. Then an Aston Martin interior. Now you’ve got a bunch of parts on the floor. Good luck trying to get them to fit together. Even if you’re a master mechanic, you’ll spend all your time trying to integrate these pieces. I’ll bet a stock Toyota Camry would drive smoother than this Frankenstein. Now consider your marketing machine. What pieces do you have that don’t integrate? The answer is not an all-in-one marketing software, like a HubSpot, Infusionsoft, HighLevel, Vendasta, or BuilderAll.

It’s a process first, then people trained in the process, and finally the tools. You’d not start a BMW performance tuning shop by selecting the particular tools you use. You start with what BMW recommends, then find BMW certified and trained mechanics. And finally buy whatever tools they say they need. So do this with your marketing. We believe everyone should have a Content Factory using the native tools that Google and Facebook provide. And get your strategy in place first before hiring people and buying tools.

DISADVANTAGES OF

AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE

Outsourcing to Virtual Assistants (VAs) can easily be marketed as your ‘perfect solution’ but there really isn’t a ‘one size fits all' approach, especially since every business has their own needs, expectations, work style and budget. I like to be honest with people and show both the good and bad parts of working with a Filipino VA in 2022.

Common disadvantages To give you some background, when I first dabbled in outsourcing over 10 years ago, it was for my eCommerce business and I needed help with building a website and managing my social media. The process wasn’t as smooth as I expected, but after so many trials, errors and being randomly ghosted - I quickly learned how to solve these issues when working with remote staff.

Language barriers One of the most common fears with outsourcing are the language barriers, especially when you’re hiring client-facing staff. This is where both written and spoken communication is so crucial because your VAs will be representing your business. While the Philippines actually ranks 15th in terms of English-speaking and writing abilities according to the English Proficiency Index, it’s not always a given since English is often still considered a second language.

This is why it’s important to emphasise the level of English proficiency you expect from your VA in the Job Description and throughout the interview process.

verbal test before moving them further through the funnel. If the VA can pass this test with flying colours, they’ll be on your candidate shortlist.

Internet connectivity issues In the Philippines, there are some cities where internet connection can fluctuate or even be slow for specific periods because of its archipelagic nature. When we hire VAs, it’s compulsory to complete an internet speed check and confirm the backup internet solution with all candidates. The minimum speed an offshore assistant will need to have is 10 MBPS download and 5 MBPS. It’s also important to assess the VA’s home office set-up to ensure they have a quiet space conducive for work and virtual meetings as well as clear video and audio. This is easily assessed by asking a VA to submit a video when applying for a job and through your video interviews with the VA.

Timezone differences VAs in the Philippines are usually 2 or 3 hours behind Australia (depending on daylight savings) and we always check with our clients what working timezone they expect from their VAs before we begin recruitment. This ensures we’ll hire someone for the role that is more than happy to accommodate to your working schedule. We also recommend all clients to clarify the timezone they’ll be referencing when communicating to their VAs. Tell your VA that you prefer to set appointments and schedules according to your timezone and your VA can easily use time zone conversion tools like Default Time Zone Converter if they’re ever confused.

At Outsourcing Angel, when we recruit VAs we include test tasks such as a written and/or

Security & privacy concerns

CONTRIBUTING WRITER'S PROFILE

If you’re planning to hire someone to handle sensitive company information or you’re simply worried about providing passwords and creating accounts for an offshore VA, then of course you’re going to be concerned about data and security. Here are some steps to ensure your data privacy when working with staff: Ask your local staff and Virtual Assistants to sign a mutual non-disclosure and non-compete agreement. This offers you further protection against any theft of information. Use login and data protection tools like LastPass instead of sharing your username and password details. Use a remote desktop tool like Critix to give your staff remote access that is extremely secure. VA Abandonment We’ve heard countless horror stories of people hiring their own VAs only for them to suddenly disappear off the face of the earth. There’s also going to be instances where your VA is suddenly unreachable because of an emergency or natural disaster. Working with an agency like us offers you an extra layer of protection. If for any reason your VA is suddenly unavailable or you’re unhappy with their work, we’ll offer you a fast and free replacement as well as 1 week free.

Linh is passionate in helping entrepreneurs achieve freedom by empowering them to build a business that will free up their time to be with their loved ones.

It’s our responsibility to ensure you’re never left high and dry to avoid time and money wasted on undelivered work. However, when hiring a VA directly, it’ll be up to you to look for a replacement if your Virtual Assistant suddenly becomes unreachable. So at the end of the day, it’s up to you to weigh the pros and cons of the VA hiring options and what it means it terms of the risks and benefits to you and your business.

THE FORWARD FORCE – MORE POWERFUL THAN FEAR By Louise Taylor AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE

AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

The worst decisions we make are when we make decisions from a place of fear. In swimming against the tide, and creating a successful 2022 – a key will be our ability to deal with the biggest thing being sold to every human being right now – FEAR.

Allow space to incubate

I am told I’m a really positive person. I admit it – I have overcome some very challenging circumstances. I have chosen again and again to push towards the goals in my heart. I have what many would call, an overcoming spirit. But this came with years and years of learning and creating mental, emotional and practical habits to overcome fear, and to push forward towards achieving goals.

We must allow ourselves time to incubate the idea. Be ok that you have questions. Be ok with uncertainty. Ask yourself questions and know that it’s ok to spend time exploring the answers.

The hardest time to pursue something new is when you are surrounded by an environment of FEAR. There are many types of fear that will impact our ability to create what we dream about: The greatest fear you will need to overcome is your internal fear. This fear presents itself when the environment is unknown. When I have started a new business, program or concept, without exception, I have, at first, questioned myself and struggled with fear. When we begin something new, we experience uncertainty about the road ahead. This causes us to hold back, be doubtful and hesitate. How do we motivate ourselves to move forward towards the new– especially when we feel this internal fear?

Energy Trumps Fear Our dream or goal needs to feel deeply inspiring and meaningful to us. Most high performers are driven by a greater good. It needs to feel like it has flow, energy and joy. It has to feel right! Like that moment in the shower when you get this idea which just lands in your heart. Without effort. When did you last feel this? What was that moment like for you? Did you pursue that idea? How can you create a state of positive flow and peace of mind? Pursue this environment and the ideas will come.

Think about the process of birth. The child is formed along the way. So it is with an idea. We don’t see the final product until we have journeyed through the growth of this product.

The idea evolves and doesn’t all come together at the beginning. When I’ve worked with clients over many years, a common theme is to obsess with their product, idea or service being perfect. Yes, we must do our due diligence and ensure we have a marketable product. But the product itself evolves over time. We become confident with our idea or product as we go on the journey. Noone has full confidence at the beginning in the germination or incubation period. We develop our product or service and build confidence as we get feedback. If you are intuitive- you’ll work well with knowing you will get ideas along the way. So trust the ideas will come as you need them.

What you have now is enough! Our reward centre of our brain likes to experience wins. Give yourself little wins as you move towards the bigger goal. There’s a saying “Hope deferred makes the heart sick”. Like Pavlov’s theory – we as humans also respond to positive feedback. Go with the NOW money. Do things that give you daily rewards – even if small. If you are building a business, its ok to earn money by beginning to sell something you have NOW! This takes the pressure off and allows you space and time to create the BIG thing.

The emotional alignment – refuse to be at war within yourself.

Once we perceive the idea– our first thought is one of excitement, of hope. But often after we perceive this exciting idea, our next thought is one of doubt. We start to think of the negatives. What if this goes wrong. What if I make a mistake? What if no one will buy from me? What if I’m not really good at this? Our minds are full of negative theories and imaginations and logic. We start overthinking. We begin to be at war with ourselves. We kill our own vision before it comes to pass. We torment ourselves. We question our ideas. We beat ourselves up. We hesitate and procrastinate. We become frustrated. We deny ourselves of the joy of creating before we have even begun. Would it be ok to say to yourself that you refuse to be at war with yourself along the way? In pursuing a new possibility – ask yourself this: What have I dreamed of which has never been done before? What would I need to feel in order to achieve this goal? When are the moments when I feel invincible? When do I experience clarity and joy. What do I think about doing day and night – because I am so passionate about it? What could 2022 look like if I chose to believe that I could create anything that I perceived to do – deep in my heart? What unique gifts, talents and insight do I carry which would answer a big problem in the world? What mountains have I conquered? What knowledge did I gain which could help others? Who can partner with me? Who do I need as a mentor? Who can I collaborate with? What kind of support and help do I need? When we are ready to see the next opportunity… an invisible force draws us forward. Something tells us we cannot live in frustration any more. Something causes the brave to rise – even when

others surrender and give up.

When we pursue the impossible it causes us to fight in a way we have never had to fight before. It causes us to risk everything, and to move towards the dream that is somewhere deep inside our spirit. What does freedom truly look like for you? If we truly pursue the impossible, we must be pursuing freedom. Because the impossible doesn’t look normal to anyone else.

The road is long, with many a winding turn. It may be helpful to know that as you go you may: Feel like no one else is saying what you are about to say Be prepared to express something without knowing how it will be received by others, and being ok with that Feel isolated and misunderstood at times Recognise you’re a pioneer . You will have to push through to new ground, which can be hard work Look for those who have already forged a path ahead and who understand you and where you are going Recognise there will be much uncertainty Find people who can resource your vision, with aligned values Have deep faith in your abilities, in your instincts, and in something or someone bigger than yourself leading you forward. Have to learn to be humble and ask for guidance Be vulnerable in front of people who you admire Fighting for the unknown gives us a deep sense of purpose. It connects us to something far higher than ourselves.

MANIFESTATION

The Visionary, The Oracle, and The Channel. WHAT DOES 2022 HOLD? BY MARIA DAVIS AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE

|

54

JANUARY 2022

AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE

What does it take to vision your future? In this article, I’ll share the definition of each of these vocations, a simple way to begin to develop your version of voyeurism, and what I see for 2022. So, let’s begin with what I see for 2022 and how it comes about. Each year, in mid-October, I tap into the energies of the following year. At first, I would keep it to myself as I wondered if my visions were real. Then I kept doing it, and what was revealed each year turned out to be spot on. Some people call it visionary. Some call it oracle wisdom or channel. For me, it’s my norm.

MANIFESTATION

Did you know that each number has its own energy? Yep! That’s right! Numerology is a metaphysical modality and brings us some divine truths. The 6 symbolizes all things related to the heart. Family, children, marriage, relationships, idealism, home, healing, education, responsibility. A 6 year invites you to reinvent yourself. To secure your place in the world. Anchor your contribution. Deep, sacred work evolves in the 6-year. Are you ready? The Hexagon is the sacred geometry symbol associated with the 6. They say that the hexagon is the connecting center of universal coherence which ties everything together and links everything back. In the esoteric world, the hexagon represents harmony and balance.

And next year looks amazing.

What do I see for 2022? Colours. Deep red and deep purple. The number 6. The hexagon. The beehive. On my vision quest, the first reveal was the colours of the year. A deep blood red, meaning a connection to the body and what makes you feel safe. Safety, security, embodiment. Along with a message of trusting your values to steer your priorities. The other colour that came through was deep indigo purple, with the message “believe in your insights”. Have faith in those feelings that do not go away. Insights, not the ones you see, but the ones you feel. The unseen world is deeply felt. Then let’s look at the number of the year. Distill it down to a single-digit and you get the number 6. 2+0+2+2 = 6 So, it is a 6-year. Let’s look at what the 6 number brings us.

Did you know that the Hexagon shape is created from perfectly equal parts? This mirrors the underlying meaning of six as a symbol of perfect union. The magic of the hexagon in nature includes the beehive. The beehive represents abundance, community, and support. 2022’s alchemy is your community. The bee symbolizes hard work ethic, contribution, commitment, connection, and resilience. Haven’t we built all these this year? 2022 will help us see what we’ve built clearly and celebrate our successes as we connect more deeply to our truths. Venus is the planet that is associated with the 6 number. Venus represents love. 2022 invited us to love deeply in this order. I, you, we. It’s an inside job. When you clinch this the outside takes care of itself.

Overall Message for 2022. Stay safe, know your wisdom, love deeply to build community for harmony and balance. Strip back to your true divine values. Know how you receive your insights. Get back in your body.

CONTRIBUTING WRITER'S PROFILE Now let’s get into defining these vocations I love so much.

Visionary

The Visionary is the person with the ability to think about or plan the future with imagination or wisdom.

Oracle

An Oracle is a person considered to provide insights or predictions, including seeing the future, inspired by deities. As such, it is a form of divination.

Channel

The Channel is a person who serves as a medium for a spirit and brings forth a message.

How to be your own visionary, oracle, or channel? I must state a disclaimer here: it’s taken me 40 years to evolve and perfect this practice. Now I teach it and guide others to do the same. Here’s a simplified, basic essential formula. Develop these skills and then take inspired action to become a visionary, oracle, or channel. Put some time aside. Prepare your space. Create an environment where you won’t be disturbed. Sit silently and ask to be guided, to be shown.

Maria Davis from Maria Heals, teaching leadership and personal development. Sharing practical magic to entrepreneurs so they share their gifts with a wider audience and make more money.

Is it really that simple? Yep, that’s it! It’s a discipline, though. If you want this to evolve, commit to the practice. You will see just like I do! See with your inner eye - it’s a powerful skill to have. Happy Visioning! May you see your next steps and be inspired to take them.

WHY YOU, AS AN ENTREPRENEUR SHOULD PAY ATTENTION TO TRENDS JUST AS ANY INVESTOR DOES? By Dr.Michael Thiemann

AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE

The year 2021 is coming to an end, and many people are thinking about how they can gain their freedom with their own business idea, including a company. Especially after the pandemic, many have found that they enjoy working from home and no longer have to face long commutes to their employer every day. They have come to love free time and even see independence, their autonomy, as the fulfillment of their dreams. Many ask themselves, of course, how do I make it work? I myself also took the path over ten years ago and ventured into self-employment from a lucrative C-level executive position. I know the challenges, along with the ups & downs, that you face in realizing your vision. In the beginning, my most essential resources were my knowledge, skills, and, most importantly, experience. I have and still use these for my clients in their strategy definition and implementation, their transformation projects, for example, to become more agile to change and more sustainable and responsible towards society and the environment. In addition to these resources, which lie primarily in my person, the assets around systematic and scalable processes, my network, and my customer relationships are particularly important success factors for me as an entrepreneur. Suppose I manage to define and implement my knowledge, experience, and expertise in repeatable processes. In that case, I can also succeed in employing staff and managers who deliver the results my customers want and in the quality they are

ENTREPRENEURSHIP

used to. This then makes me an entrepreneur instead of being a solopreneur. I myself can use the free time I have gained to work on the next product solution, with which I can noticeably solve other customer problems. In turn, I systematize this product together with the processes so that I transfer another operation together with the responsibility to my employees. In the last years, I have accompanied many entrepreneurs on this way, and therefore I know how necessary the knowledge of current megatrends, including sub-trends, is. Only if you have the relevant trends on your radar and understand their effects on people can you use them for your own business ideas and achieve a sustainable advantage over your competitors. For this purpose, I have created a 4-tier framework, aka 4-Tier Cannes Model, with which anyone can easily find out which trends are relevant for their target customers so that they do not succumb to fads. I have already written about this framework in Authoritti5.0 and Forbes (Part1 ; Part 2), and you can see a first overview in my video on YouTube. Here my experience in corporate finance and asset management helps me. Because here, the change processes caused by trends were decisive for me as an investor, whether I see growth potential in a company including its business models and therefore invest my money. As an entrepreneur, you should deal with trends from the beginning just like an investor because you invest your time,

And business ideas that run against the strong forces of trends are difficult to realize from the beginning and mostly unsuccessful. AUTHORITTI5.0 MAGAZINE

When you understand how your brain works, you are better able to help it help you get the best results in your career, in relationships (business and personal), and in life. Knowing how your brain instinctually functions allows you to take charge and be in control rather than it controlling you. Becoming aware of these five natural tendencies of your brain will aid you in being a more successful business person.

You will be more creative and make better decisions if you turn off your "thinking brain." You might think that gathering more information, diagraming scenarios, and making careful, deliberate decisions are always better — especially in business. Not always. Research shows that the frontal lobe brain networks, responsible for reasoning, planning, decision-making, and judgment, work in creative ways when your brain is quiet, not while actively thinking or problem-solving. If a solution lies outside of your brain’s familiar experience, your conscious mind will likely never find it. An analytical search for solutions can only cover the content of your mind’s “known.” Innovative answers reside outside of your mind’s known box. When you disengage from your analytical brain and allow it to integrate new information with existing knowledge on a subconscious level, it can establish new connections and see patterns not obvious to your conscious mind. Creative solutions and ideas are more likely to come from a brain that applies unconscious thought to a problem, rather than going at it in a deliberate approach with the analytical mind. When your thinking brain is engaged and inundated with

NEUROSCIENCE

information, it doesn’t have the opportunity to connect concepts or make creative leaps. Science shows that your brain’s resting-state circuitry is the default mode network (DMN). The DMN is activated when you stop thinking about something specific and just let your mind wander. And it is the best place to park a problem. In the DMN, your brain does some of its best, wisest, and most creative work.

You will learn and perform better in spaced sessions with built-in breaks. You probably know from experience and science confirms that your brain performs better if you take in information in chunks with regular breaks rather than trying to cram everything into one long session. The human brain wasn’t designed to pay attention and be alert for hours at a time. Your brain needs downtime to consolidate the incoming information before you can use it effectively. The brain is much more active — and more likely to tire — than any other muscle or organ in your body. Evidence shows that your brain cycles from highest attention to lowest attention every 90 minutes in what’s called an ultradian rhythm. You can only maintain focus for 90 to 120 minutes before it needs to rest. Honouring the natural rhythm of our brains and seeing brain breaks as part of, not counter to, working, can make you more productive, creative, and innovative. When working on a big project under stress or trying to learn a new skill, consider building in fun discussions, going outside and taking a walk, or even taking the time to nap. You actually can be more productive in the end. Studies show that napping can improve memory and creative problem-solving.

Stress literally shuts down your thinking brain. To experience absolutely no stress, you would have to be dead. Seriously. Stress is your body’s

natural and necessary physical reaction to changes in its environment or circumstances where your brain perceives a response is required for your protection. It can even be a positive thing, called eustress. Intermittent stress at the right time, like before a presentation, can provide motivation, energy, and focus, and help you perform at your best. The problem arises when stress becomes an ongoing, constant state. Stress activates your body’s fight-or-flight response and instigates a chain of physical events preparing your body to mobilize for an emergency. While the threat has to be pretty intense for your body to get involved, any degree of stress affects your basic brain systems of attention, energy, and memory. Basically, your brain eliminates all functioning except focusing on the danger. Learning to reduce stress is essential to maximizing your brain’s performance in your career and in your life. While it’s best to build stress-reducing activities into your life regularly, such as exercising, getting more sleep, and spending time with friends and family. It can also be helpful to learn how to help your brain perform when it is under short-term stress, and you need to meet that big deadline. Slow breathing, encouraging self-talk, and preparation will help you soar through tense times.

Your brain has built-in biases. Your brain has cognitive biases wired-in, of which you probably aren’t even aware, that originally kept it feeling safe and helped our species survive. While these instinctual inclinations were a cautionary advantage at one time, today they are faulty ways of thinking that colour your perceptions and beliefs and inhibit your ability to make optimal and objective decisions. Wikipedia lists 182 cognitive biases — too many to list here, but some interesting ones which can impact you in business are: Present bias: Your brain prefers short-term rewards that will be realized sooner over

NEUROSCIENCE

rewards that are further in the future but clearly greater. Anchoring effect - Your brain relies heavily on the first piece of information offered, particularly if is presented in numeric form, when making decisions, estimates, or predictions. Optimism bias - Your brain consistently underestimates the costs and the duration of basically every project you undertake. Sunk-cost thinking - Your brain will want to stick with a bad investment of time effort, or money because of the cost you have already expended on it. Confirmation bias - Your brain has the tendency to search for, interpret, favour, and recall information in a way that confirms or supports what you already believe or value. Through awareness, inquiry, open-mindedness, and deliberately challenging your thoughts, you can minimize the influence of these innate biases.

Sleep is your brain's secret weapon. Sufficient sleep is vital to keep your brain function sharp and at the top of your game. Lack of sleep slows down your thinking, impairs your memory, concentration, judgment, and decisionmaking, and impedes learning. After just one night of skimping on sleep, the results can be seen in delayed reaction times, glucose levels, mood, headache, impaired memory, and hormone balances. A Swedish study saw changes in men’s brains after not sleeping for just one night indicative of brain shrinkage and damage similar to a brain injury. Sleep is absolutely essential for your brain to work properly (to be neuro agile) because during sleep your brain is busy processing information, consolidating memories, making connections, and clearing out toxins.

TOOLBOX

You must bring your story to life quickly, so as to instantly gather interest as people scroll through their feeds. In the opening seconds, you must give clarity to what your video is about and give the viewer confidence that what they’re about to watch is work their time

1.Focus on stories, not sales If you want your video to be watched, it needs to create some kind of value for the viewer. Videos that are purely focused on a brand, or driving sales, will likely be ignored. The best video content tells stories that connect with the viewer. The better you tell stories about yourself, the more likely your viewers are going to understand what your company is offering and what it can do for them.

3.Create a solid thumbnail These thumbnails are a great way to grab viewers’ attention and get them excited about your video before it starts playing. Think of thumbnails as an important first impression.

2. Use the first few seconds wisely Attention spans online are short. In fact, the average attention span is now just 8.5 seconds.

4.Include CTA’s When creating videos, be sure to optimize your content with calls to action (CTA). A CTA doesn’t always have to directly on the main video. It could be placed on the narratives, captions or in some cases the sub title and thumbnails.

BrainTap How would you like to experience your life? It’s an intriguing question, and yet we’ve been conditioned to believe our life visions and goals are often unattainable—until now. With The Possibility Principle, psychotherapist Mel Schwartz offers a revolutionary approach to living the life we choose. The Possibility Principle reveals how we can apply the three core tenets of quantum physics—inseparability, uncertainty, and potentiality—to live the life we choose, free from the wounds of our past and the constraints of our old beliefs. You can learn to: Develop a mastery of your thinking as you free yourself from the replication of old thought patterns Utilize the concept of wave collapse to realize that you are not imprisoned by your genes, brain chemistry, or past traumas Overcome anxiety and depression through a shift of mind Thrive in resilient relationships and develop powerful communication skills that foster empowerment and intimate connection Embrace uncertainty to ride the waves of personal change

Braintapping is a quick and easy way to: - Relax - Reboot - Revitalize by optimizing your brain’s peak potential—anytime, anywhere. Backed by neuroscience and research, braintapping is proven to help people who experience high stress, difficulty sleeping, low energy, and other lifestyle challenges. Our copyrighted algorithms guide you from an awake, reactionary mind into an intuitive, creative state, then to a place where super-learning and healing occur, with the outcome being a heightened state of consciousness with crystal clear focus. Unlike meditation programs, BrainTap’s proprietary neuro-algorithms gently and naturally guide your brain through a broad range of brainwave patterns, instead of just a meditative state.
