With 2024 clearly in our rear view mirror, its time focus on what’s ahead, another fast paced year of the auto industry here in the Philippines. We barely had time to catch our breath during the holiday season, were back in the thick of things we love… these amazing things with wheels, whether they’re powered by petrol, diesel, hybrid or electric. We hope they give you a warm feeling too! No matter where their manufactured, they get us all from point A to B and we feel awesome when see them parked in front of our house or in our garage.
e only thing is, with so many brands in our country, choosing that ONE for your garage is tough, akin to choosing a puppy or a kitten from a litter. But one will connect with you and you’ll know that’s meant for you.
Now, for those of you looking to add to your garage, John Rey’s Fresh Out e Box features the newest local releases you might want to consider: e Jimny 5 door Rhino Edition, the Audi Q7 and Q8 and the updated BYD Atto 3.
As always we have highlights from industry news, in First Drives, the Aston Martin has come out with
a V12 Vanquish, on our cover the Porsche Taycan which, on paper is loaded with tech, it could be a giant computer on wheels, but drives as good as you would expect a Porsche to, the story is pretty in depth mind you.
In Road Trip, we take the BYD Sealion SUV PHEV (Plug-in-hybrid) on a 1000km+ trip to and from Ilocos on one full tank of gas… and a battery with signi cant range.with no need for charging stations.
Do you remember Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond? Before the internet they were who we looked to for stories about cars and stu , but even with the clutter you nd online, they still manage to stand out. Well, a er 22 years of doing what they do, we take a fond look at the highlights of their colourful career from TG to the Grand Tour and everything in between.
And with that, we hit the ground running in 2025, and our team commits to bring you all this and more every month.
…and if you get bored between our monthly issues, check us out online too!
Defender – the luxury British adventure brand – will compete with a works team in Dakar, –the world’s most demanding off-road motorsport competition, as part of a three-year FIA World Rally-Raid Championship (W2RC) campaign, beginning in 2026.
Defender will run a two-vehicle entry across the full five-rounds of the W2RC, with a three-car entry in the championship’s halo event. Defender will compete in the new ‘Stock’ category – for productionbased vehicles – which from 2026 will conform to new and heavily revised regulations making it the perfect platform to demonstrate Defender’s extreme capability and durability.
The works team will complete a full test and development program in 2025 in preparation for their inaugural Dakar Rally next year.
The W2RC program will be supported by technical partner Prodrive, the British motorsport engineering group. The program complements a multi-year agreement as official car partner to Dakar, supplying a fleet of support and highly specialized recce vehicle this year.
James Barclay, JLR Motorsport Managing Director reiterated “I’ve called Dakar the Everest of motorsport. Being here to once again see the prologue stage kick-off reinforces the challenge we face. It will be an incredible adventure from both human and engineering perspectives, and the team are already working hard to develop Defender within the new ‘Stock’ FIA W2RC rules for 2026 that will make for such a competitive category. We along with the FIA, ASO and other manufacturers have helped shape these new regulations, which represent an exciting new chapter for the Dakar, W2RC and Rally Raid in
general.”
“We’re also delighted to confirm our technical partnership with Prodrive. Their experience will be invaluable to the program, and I’m looking forward to bringing you more news soon of our Rally Raid competition-spec Defender that’s in development.” Corporate officials stated
An update to the sporting and technical regulations in this important category will be implemented for 2026, making it significantly more competitive and the perfect platform to demonstrate the extreme capability and durability of Defender.
Defender made for Dakar with its inherent capability and purposeengineered D7X architecture is based on a lightweight aluminum monocoque construction to create a stiff body structure. It is three times stiffer than traditional body-on-frame
designs, providing perfect foundations to withstand the extreme conditions that the Dakar will provide.
“There’s much work to do over the next 12 months, but with Defender works program, testing and development well under way, the team are already embracing the ultimate motorsport adventure that lays ahead from 2026.” Mark Cameron, Defender Managing Director, said
Though the Defender did not compete in Dakar this year, it played a key role as the event’s official vehicle partner. A fleet of 20 Defenders supported the event, which began in Bisha, Saudi Arabia, and ended in Shubaytah, transporting race officials and VIP media.
Another six highly specialized Defender recce vehicles will be used by Dakar Rally organizers to plan the routes for the 2026, 2027 and 2028 events.

AND ANOTHER THING
Another sign of passing times: the death has just been announced of 90-year-old Bruno Sacco, who was a kind of Mercedes design emperor for 25 years to 1999 – a distinguished period that produced everything from the C111 concepts to the seminal 190E. Sacco always seemed solemn and aloof, perhaps for fear of being patronised by ignorant journalists. But when he got talking and smiling, he was pure gold.

Honda Motor Co., Ltd.
held a press briefing on next-generation technologies for its original 2-motor hybrid system, e:HEV*, and presented the world premiere of Honda S+ Shift technology. Honda plans to install Honda S+ Shift in all of its future hybridelectric vehicle (HEV) models featuring the nextgeneration e:HEV, starting with the all-new Honda Prelude scheduled to go on sale in 2025.
The original Honda e:HEV hybrid system combines exceptional fuel economy (environmental performance), achieved by the highly efficient 2-motor hybrid system, and high-quality and exhilarating driving experience (driving performance), delivered by the high-powered traction motor. By optimally
alternating between the motor and the engine as a source of driving force and applying highly efficient controls depending on the driving environment and conditions, e:HEV achieves high fuel economy without making it a conscious effort of the driver and realizes driving at the will of the driver, responding linearly to driver inputs.
The newly developed Honda S+ Shift is a new function designed to pursue the “joy of driving” that further accentuates the sense of oneness between the driver and the vehicle, while fully leveraging the characteristics of the e:HEV system. The further advancement was made to the Linear Shift Control synchronizing vehicle speed with engine sound, which has been installed in e:HEV models
starting with the Fit e:HEV that launched in 2020. Without compromising high environmental performance unique to HEV models, the Honda S+ Shift precisely controls the engine RPM during acceleration and deceleration to realize direct drive response and sharp gear shifting. Moreover, the powerful engine sound synchronizes with the Active Sound Control (ASC) system, enhancing engine sound quality by offering the engine sound in sync with engine RPM through the speaker system and the highly responsive meter display. In this way the Honda S+ Shift will stimulate all of the driver’s senses and provide exhilarating driving at the will of the driver, further “synchronizing” the driver and the vehicle.
Key features of Honda S+ Shift:
• By linking two high-power motors with the ASC system, the Honda S+ Shift achieves dynamic engine RPM changes and a sharp upshift feeling, providing feedback that resonates with all of the driver’s senses, amplifying the sense of oneness between the driver and the vehicle.
• The Honda S+ Shift further advances the Linear Shift Control applied to current e:HEV models, enabling gear shifts (upshift and downshift) according to the driving conditions and environments at all speed ranges. While turning, the Honda S+ Shift system quickly responds to driver steering input and activates shift hold, enabling the vehicle to trace the desired driving line at the will of the driver.
• By maintaining the optimal engine RPM for the particular driving conditions, the power generated by the engine during re-acceleration will be fully utilized as driving force. This greatly improves the initial response time of the motor when the driver depresses the accelerator pedal and enables overwhelmingly high response that is directly connected to driver input.
• Although e:HEV does not have a mechanical transmission mechanism, when the Honda S+ Shift is activated, the driver can shift gears with a paddle shifter, so that the driver can enjoy driving feel as if the vehicle features a transmission system. With quick gearshift responses achieved through the coordination of the engine and high-power motor, Honda S+ Shift function will strive to offer the joy of driving based on direct response to driver input.
The letter “S” in the technology name, Honda S+ Shift, has been used in the names of Honda models and technologies such as the S600, S2000, and Type S, representing the “sports spirit,” which Honda believes to be the source of the joy of driving. The “+” indicates that this function will add new value represented by words such as “Synchronized” “Special” and “Sensational.” The word “Shift” represents the Honda desire to make a shift that takes people and automobiles to the new world.

As part of this ongoing commitment, Valenzuela is taking a significant step forward toward greener transportation by integrating the BYD Dolphin units into its police fleet. The shift to new and modern vehicles will significantly reduce the city’s reliance on fossil fuels, resulting in lower emissions
and improved air quality, particularly in a region with considerable industrial activity.
“We are grateful to the progressive city of Valenzuela for choosing BYD and the BYD Dolphin for its police fleet. The city’s choice is a shining example of how local governments can fulfill their duties while promoting sustainability and being more considerate of the environment,” said Lovelyn Labrador, Deputy General Manager for Corporate Services at BYD Philippines.
“This partnership symbolizes a new way of thinking that many Filipinos and more communities nationwide can adopt as they deal with the daily challenges of mobility.”
Valenzuela City is setting the benchmark for the future of electrified transportation.
With the largest EV police fleet in the Philippines, the city is leading the way
forward to a future where environmental responsibility is at the forefront of public services. This strategic move represents a significant leap forward in reducing the city’s carbon footprint and advancing cleaner, more sustainable transport solutions.
ACMobility will deploy 20 7kW and 2 22kW electric vehicle chargers across the city to reinforce this shift and ensure the seamless operation of Valenzuela’s electrified police fleet.
“Starting with the transformation of our fleets, beginning with police cars, we set a powerful example for private companies, communities, and individuals to reconsider their own choices,” said Weslie “Wes” Gatchalian, Mayor of Valenzuela City.

PROS Still a handsome, low-slung car; serious mechanical updates CONS No progress with weight
Taycan gets charge ports on oth flanks, though only the nearside port will facilitate rapid charging. The cover slides away electronically – you simply brush the underside of the adjacent blade. It is a little bit of theatre, but also feels like something to go wrong.
An 84-litre ‘frunk’ is smaller than the 134-litre space you get in a 911, on account of the EV housing a motor on the front axle. It’s still usefully deep and will take a reasonably big duffel bag. You can open both ends of the car – boot and frunk – from the key fob.
PROS Nicely sculpted dash; plenty of oddment storage; sporty feel CONS Lack of physical switchgear; limited rear-seat/luggage space
A low-cut scuttle and a high beltline make the Taycan’s cabin feel not unlike that of a midengined supercar – something in many ways mirrored in the car’s superlative handling.
Touchscreen remains integrated into the dashboard, and is particularly unobtrusive by modern standards. The lower panel includes a touchpad, useful for navigating the system.
Various commands are positioned into a crescent on the flanks o the cowl-less instrument display. Here you alter damping, and quickly disable the speed-limit alerts.
WHEEL AND PEDAL ALIGNMENT A Steering offset 0mm B Brake offset 40mm left C Accelerator offset 110mm right. Ergonomics are broadly excellent, with plenty of reach adjustment and a pedigree relationship between eyeline, hip point and pedals. Good on B-roads – and motorways.
PROS Heroically quick but docile and intuitive the rest of the time CONS Occasional brake pedal inconsistency; lack of emotion
PROS Beautifully coherent handling remains worthy of the badge
CONS Underlying sense of weight is inescapable, though well managed
PROS Active suspension makes a small but appreciable difference; impressively quiet on the move
CONS Sports car-style tautness
PROS Quite generously equipped; air starting price good e ciency

The days when manufacturers could launch an expensively developed new product, safe in the knowledge that it would remain competitive for many years to come, are in the past – at least so far as the EV landscape goes. It’s why Porsche has revisited the Taycan relatively soon after the car’s groundbreaking initial launch, and why it has done so with an uncompromising attitude that has duly yielded a machine demonstrably better than its forebear. And, we say, any rival.
The new Taycan’s daily usability is improved, and the car retains those superlative, Porschetypical dynamics. The Turbo S tested here is also outrageously quick, yet it manages to make its speed approachable, and balance it with road manners that belie Veyron-baiting acceleration. It’s not exactly cheap, but it’s some statement.
RICHARD LANE
This car has freakishly clever ESP/traction control tuning. I did some exploratory standing starts on s straight when it was very damp, early in the day. All four tyres were over-rotating until 95mph, with an extra flare-up at around 80mph, when the back axle engages second gear. It should have been frightening ut it wasn t t was like sur ng a soundwave
MATT SAUNDERS Range mode drops the chassis 22mm, closes cooling flaps and can have the Taycan operating with pure FWD to conserve energy. It even has the headlights operating at their most e cient
More marginal gains in noise insulation. Tune a little more ngertip lightness into the steering. Synthetic gearshifts?

AC Mobility of Ayala Corp., the distributor of BYD cars in the Philippines recently invited us to take their recently launched BYD Sealion 6 DM-i hybrid compact suv on a drive to Ilocos. This was to put their claim of it’s ability to do over 1000 kilometers on one full tank of petrol to the test.
Our start point was at the SEDA Hotel next to Ayala Malls, Manila Bay, loaded up our gear along with my car mates, our AutocarPH EIC Ira Panganiban, and Randy Peregrino of Business Mirror, our long convoy hit the road. We were to proceed up through NAIAx, Skyway 3 to make our way to NLEX.
The front end of the Sealion 6 DM-i is sleek and elegant, with just the right amount of chrome. It features Intelligent LED headlight with manual height adjustment, LED turn signals and daytime running lights. Around the rear are also LED tail lamps, high mount brake light and sequential turn signal lights. It also comes with rear privacy glass. It rolls on 235/50’s on 19” alloy wheels.
I let my car mates do the driving on the first part of the drive, as our first stop was lunch at the Rosario roundabout at the end of TPLEX. So while they drove, I took photos and enjoyed the roomy interior.
The back seat offers lots of leg room for three occupants and has both USB A and C charging ports. Our Sealion 6 had comfortable two-tone leather seats. The wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto allowed me to take charge of the music and navigation from the back seat and negated the need to fumble with a cable to the front, instead I was plugged in at the back. There were also rear aircon vents to add to rear occupant comfort. The
panoramic sunroof when opened allows lots of natural light into the cabin and adds to the feeling of spaciousness.
The drive to our lunch venue at the roundabout at the end of TPLEX was about 224 kilometers, and after lunch, it was my turn to drive. Up front are the dual 15W wireless chargers and the infotainment system had a sizeable 15.6” rotating touchscreen. Apple CarPlay’s waze map was huge in landscape mode. On this long drive, we enjoyed the Infinity 10-speaker audio system, which showed little to no distortion even at full volume.
The 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat allowed us to easily set a comfortable driving position, the front seats were also ventilated, perfect as seats tended to get hot when parked in the sun. Steering wheel is tilt/telescopic adjustable, and electric power steering made light work of things. The instrument cluster was fully digital and showed all information useful to the driver, drive mode, speed and instead of a tachometer, it showed kilowatts we were expending as we accelerated and when we lifted off the accelerator would show how many kilowatts we were regenerating. It was equipped with Dual Zone Auto-Climate
control allowed for occupants to set their ac temp preference. The interior had a mix of leather and soft touch surfaces adding to a premium feel.
The Sealion 6 DM-i is a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), with a full EV range of 100kms (NEDC) on its 18.3kWh Blade Battery, when fully charged. It has a claimed range of 1,100kms in Hybrid or extended mode. It’s equipped with a 60 liter fuel tank for it’s engine, or “range extender”, which is a 1.5L Xiaoyun, 4-cylinder gasoline engine which puts out 106Ps
with135 Nm of torque.
The electric motor is a Permanent Magnet Synchronus Motor that puts out 197Ps and 325 Nm of torque, both combined puts out 217Ps, driving the front wheels. There are Economy, Normal and Sport drive modes, and there is also what BYD calls Driving Terrain Mode Adjuster –Snowfield, Grit and Grass. It has a top speed of 170kph and can accelerate from 0-100kph in 8.3 seconds. Not bad.
Its EV charging socket is Type 2 and with an AC charger will charge from 0-100% in 2.6-3hours with a 7kWh charger. It has Vehicle to Load (V2L) capability.
The Sealion 6 is equipped with BYD’s DiPilot Advanced Driver Assistance Systems – 360 degree view camera system with See-Through Mode, 6 sensor radar system, Cruise Control – Stop & Go Full-Speed Adaptive and Inteligent, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Assist, Automatic Emergency Braking System, Front Collision Warning, Traffic Congestion Assistance, Traffic Sign Recognition, Intelligent Speed Limit Information and Intelligent Speed Limit Control.
It was a good 4 hours+ and 192 kilometers from Rosario to Vigan, and we had barely consumed about 1/3rd of our fuel. Our destination would be Hotel Luna.
On day 2, we drove through the Ilocos Norte welcome arch and on to the San Agustin Church in Paoay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, roughly 65.6 kilometers from our hotel. After lunch, we drove around and we clocked a further 68.5 kilometers on our drive back to our hotel in Vigan. As you would probably surmise, this was just an excuse to rack up more kilometers before we headed back to Manila the next day.
We surpassed the claimed 1000 kilometers range. We had clocked 1043 kilometers by the time we had stopped for a bathroom break at one of the gas stations along the NLEX and by that time we had had a little less than a quarter tank of gas and more than enough to get back to our start point which was a further 33 kilometers away at Ayala Malls Manila Bay via the Skyway 3 and NAIAX.
The DM in DM-I stands for Dual Mode. EV Mode – where the vehicle is powered exclusively by the electric motor, HEV Mode –the engine functions as a generator, charging the battery while the electric motor powers the wheels, which is what we used mostly to extend the range. HEV Mode Parallel –the electric motor and engine work together to drive the vehicle.
With a charged battery, we would use EV Mode on the long stretches and in traffic to preserve our gasoline, as this would be where we would consume more fuel, and when the battery level would drop to below 20% we would then switch to HEV Mode where the engine would charge the battery as we continued to drive and at the
same time, the electric motor would work with the gasoline engine to reduce it’s workload especially when moving from a full stop or accelerating. We also used the Adaptive Cruise Control a lot, this insured accurate throttle application again making sure we weren’t expending more fuel or discharging more battery energy than we needed to. When the battery would charge back up to 80%, we would then switch back to full EV Mode.
The BYD Sealion 6 DM-i is comfortable vehicle on the road, just the right size, not too
big, but big enough to fit four occupants comfortably and their luggage, loaded with all the modern safety and convenience amenities you’d need and easily surpassed the 1000 kilometer claim by BYD. Of course good mileage also depends on your driving style to be able to squeeze out as many kilometers as you can from the battery and one tank of gas.
Priced at PHP 1,548,000, the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i, is priced reasonably and comes with a 6-year or 150,000-kilometer bumper-to-bumper warranty, and an 8-year or 160,000-kilometer warranty for the battery.

or over a decade, electric vehicles (EVs) have been heralded as the future of mobility, with automakers around the globe pouring resources into electrification. But as the EV market matures, cracks are starting to show. Major car brands like Fiat, Ford, GM, Honda, Toyota,
FVolkswagen, and Volvo are reassessing their strategies, shifting focus to more efficient gasoline engines and hydrogenpowered vehicles. This pivot is raising questions about the future of EVs—particularly in developing markets like the Philippines, where the EV movement is just beginning to gain traction.
One of the biggest hurdles in the EV revolution is the high cost of batteries. Critical materials like lithium and cobalt, essential for EV production, are expensive and subject to volatile market conditions. These price fluctuations make it difficult for automakers to produce affordable EVs,
prompting many to explore alternatives like hydrogen fuel cells or cleaner combustion engines. By diversifying their portfolios, carmakers hope to avoid overreliance on these resource-intensive technologies.
Another challenge is the staggering investment required for EV research and development (R&D). Building electric cars requires automakers to overhaul their factories, train workers in highvoltage systems, and innovate new battery technologies—all of which come with a hefty price tag. For companies like Toyota and Honda, spreading their budgets across hybrid systems, advanced gasoline engines, and hydrogen-powered cars is a more balanced approach, especially when global demand for EVs varies widely.
Charging infrastructure, or the lack thereof, remains a critical bottleneck for EV adoption. In countries with robust networks of fast chargers, EV ownership is relatively hassle-free. But in less developed markets, like the Philippines, charging stations are few and far between. This
creates range anxiety, deterring potential buyers who worry about running out of power with no charger in sight. Until charging networks expand significantly traditional gaspowered cars remain the more practical choice for many.
Service centers and dealerships also have concerns. EVs require far less maintenance than their gasoline counterparts—no oil changes, fewer moving parts, and fewer wear-and-tear items. While this is a win for consumers, it’s a loss for repair shops that rely on regular maintenance tasks for revenue. Studies suggest that widespread EV adoption could shrink service departments’ income, adding another layer of resistance to the EV shift.
While Japanese and American automakers are pumping the brakes on EVs, Chinese brands are accelerating. Companies like B D are flooding the global market with affordable electric vehicles that undercut traditional automakers on price. Thanks to China’s massive battery production capacity and vertically integrated supply chains, brands like BYD can keep costs low without compromising too much on quality.
But affordability isn’t their only strength. Chinese automakers are also making strides in battery safety and durability. BYD’s Blade Battery, for instance, is designed to be safer and longerlasting than traditional lithiumion batteries. This combination of low cost and advanced technology makes Chinese EVs attractive, particularly in Southeast Asia, where price sensitivity is high.
In the hilippines these budgetfriendly EVs could help bridge the gap in affordability, allowing more Filipinos to experience electric mobility. However, questions remain about after-sales service, spare parts availability, and longterm resale value.
As EVs face mounting challenges, hydrogen fuel cell
vehicles (FCVs) are emerging as a promising alternative. These cars use hydrogen to generate electricity on board, emitting only water as a byproduct. Hydrogen-powered cars can be refueled in minutes, addressing one of the biggest drawbacks of EVs: charging time.
However, the hydrogen ecosystem is still in its infancy. Refueling stations are scarce, even in developed countries, making widespread adoption a distant reality. For the Philippines, this technology remains a long-term prospect, but it’s one that automakers like Toyota are investing heavily in.
For Filipino car buyers, the shifting priorities of global automakers may slow the rollout of new EV models. Brands like Toyota, Honda, and Volvo could release fewer electric options as they focus on hybrids, advanced gas engines, and hydrogen. On the other hand, Chinese brands like B D are poised to fill the gap with affordable electric cars, giving Filipinos more access to EVs despite the challenges.
Still, the decision to go electric isn’t straightforward. EVs remain more expensive upfront than traditional cars, and the Philippines’ limited charging
network can be a dealbreaker for those who need to travel long distances. Resale value is another concern, especially if global automakers scale back EV production and demand falters.
That said, EVs have clear advantages. They’re cheaper to run and maintain, and for city dwellers with access to home or workplace chargers, they’re an eco-friendly and cost-effective choice. Cheaper Chinese EVs might lower the entry barrier, but buyers should carefully consider the availability of service centers and spare parts before committing.
For now, Filipinos should stay fle ible. If you re drawn to
the eco-friendly appeal, lower running costs, and cuttingedge tech of an EV, it may still be worth the investment— especially if you live in a city and have reliable charging access. However, if you’re more cautious, waiting for advancements in hydrogen technology or cleaner gas engines could be the smarter move.
As automakers explore diverse paths to a greener future— whether through improved internal combustion engines, hybrid systems, or hydrogen— buyers can expect a wider range of options in the years to come. For the Philippines, this evolving landscape offers both opportunities and challenges, but one thing is clear: the race to redefine mobility is far from over.

A New Look at an Old Solution
Morning rush hour in highly urbanized areas like Metro Manila can feel like a battlefield horns blaring tempers flaring and lines of cars barely inching forward. With parents racing to drop off their children before work, the daily gridlock has intensified. Now, more experts are asking whether private schools should strongly encourage—or even mandate—the use of school bus services to ease congestion and improve commuting experiences.
The argument for a robust school bus program is simple one bus can replace several private vehicles. Fewer cars on the road means less traffic and stress both for parents and the wider community. Drop-off zones, currently chaotic with long lines of private vehicles, could see drastic improvements if more students arrive via a single bus. Beyond convenience, parents also cut down on fuel costs and the frustration of navigating gridlocked streets.
“When you think about how many cars line up at each school every morning, it’s clear that a bus system could significantly ease local traffic says a longtime traffic observer in etro Manila. “It’s a collective solution that also saves time and money.
But it’s not just about getting cars off the road. Students themselves stand to benefit
from reliable school bus systems. Arriving faster and without the stress of a bumper-to-bumper commute helps them kick off the school day focused and ready to learn. chools benefit too improved punctuality translates into smoother daily operations, since administrators can coordinate departure and arrival times more closely.
Of course, not everyone is on board with the idea of widespread school bus use—at least, not yet. The number one concern for many parents? Safety. In a climate where incidents like kidnapping remain a worry, some families feel more secure when they’re the ones behind the wheel.
“I believe the (push for) school bus can be recommended, but it cannot be mandated says Atty. Robby Consunji, Trustee and Chairperson of the Government Liaison Committee of the Automobile Association Philippines. “The parents will resist on the ground (albeit
imagined) that kidnapping is a risk.
Schools and local authorities would need to collaborate on strict safety standards— everything from driver ualifications and vehicle maintenance to advanced security systems—in order to reassure wary parents.
A key debate revolves around whether schools should make bus use compulsory or simply encourage it. Observers believe that promoting rather than enforcing bus systems might be the best strategy. A hardline approach could trigger backlash unless safety guarantees are ironclad.
Establishing and advertising these measures—such as thorough background checks for drivers, GPS tracking, and well-maintained vehicles—could help build trust. After all, the long-term goal is to create a safe efficient transport system that parents can rely on without hesitation.
While school buses have fallen out of favor in some areas, the potential benefits are hard to ignore
Less Traffic: One bus replacing multiple cars
Safer Roads: Fewer private vehicles jostling through busy streets
Quicker Commutes: Streamlined pick-up and dropoff schedules
Fewer Emissions: Reduced carbon footprint per student For many advocates, reintroducing well-regulated school bus services could be the missing piece in solving chronic traffic woes.
s road congestion intensifies in the Philippines, the dialogue around school bus use continues to evolve.
Some schools and local governments are already exploring partnerships, pilot programs, and public awareness campaigns. But the question remains Is it time for private schools to take the lead in promoting a reliable, safe bus system for students?
In a country grappling with daily traffic paralysis the answer might just be a resounding yes. school bus service that meets modern safety standards could transform how children get to and from school—easing congestion, saving time, and delivering a smoother ride for all.

Audi is ramping up its electric game by extending the A6 e-tron family. The latest additions? A fresh entry-level rearwheel-drive model, plus a more affordable quattro variant. These newcomers join Audi’s previously announced performance and S models, creating a broader array of choices for drivers looking to make the jump into electric luxury.
The headline-grabber is the rearwheel-drive A6 e-tron featuring an 83 kWh battery and a system output of 210 kW (with 240 kW on tap during Launch Control). This translates to a 0-100 km/h sprint in a swift six seconds—
respectable performance for an “entry-level” model. True to the A6 e-tron’s DNA, it boasts 800-volt charging technology, delivering a DC charging rate of up to 225 kW.
That means if you’re on a road trip and plug into a High Power Charging station, the A6 e-tron Sportback can reclaim up to 260 kilometers of range in just ten minutes, while the Avant variant replenishes 245 kilometers in the same span. For overall range, the numbers are just as impressive: up to 627 kilometers for the Sportback and up to 598 kilometers for the Avant.
Quattro for the Masses Audi also unveiled a more accessible quattro option with
a 100 kWh (gross) battery. This version lays down 315 kW of power (or 340 kW during Launch Control), catapulting the A6 e-tron from 0 to 100 km/h in a brisk 4.5 seconds. Like its stablemates, it leverages 800-volt fast-charging, delivering up to 290 kilometers of added range (Sportback) or 280 kilometers (Avant) in just ten minutes at toptier charging stations. Over the long haul, drivers can expect up to 716 kilometers (Sportback) or 685 kilometers (Avant).
Audi enthusiasts may recall the two powerhouses initially introduced when the A6 e-tron was first revealed the rear-wheeldrive A6 e-tron performance
(270 kW, or 280 kW with Launch Control) and the sporty S6 e-tron quattro (370 kW, or 405 kW with Launch Control). With the arrival of these entry-level and more affordable quattro models, Audi’s strategy is crystal clear: offer diverse electric mobility solutions that cater to every kind of driver.
From everyday commuting to spirited weekend getaways, the newly expanded A6 e-tron lineup underscores Audi’s commitment to making electric driving both practical and thrilling. Whether you’re drawn to the simplicity of rear-wheel drive or crave the added traction of quattro, the A6 e-tron aims to deliver all the comfort, range, and sophistication that fans of this iconic product line have come to expect.
