QUIET LUXURY IN A SUBCOMPACT SUV

EFFICIENT. POWERFUL. THE NISSAN KICKS E-POWER.

Others buy a car to show off their affluence, but for some of us, it’s about experiencing that new kind of thrill. It’s about owning a car with Japanese heritage, an SUV with a small footprint but big on giving you effortless power, and, of course, it’s about getting a car you can drive any day you want, especially if you live in the Metro. If all these interest you, then look no further than the Nissan Kicks e-POWER.

A first in the Philippines. The Nissan Kicks e-POWER is the first vehicle sold in the Philippines with e-POWER technology; a unique drivetrain where the wheels are solely driven by an electric motor at all times while an onboard gas engine charges its battery when needed. It’s basically an EV without the need for plug-in charging.

A rich heritage. Built by the same chief powertrain engineer of the iconic Nissan GT-R and the world’s first mass-market EV, the Nissan LEAF, Naoki Nakada combined the best of both worlds, bringing you the effortless speed of a sports car and the powerful

yet smooth, quiet drive of an electric vehicle. Now that’s quiet luxury.

A sustainable yet powerful combination. It’s rare to find a vehicle that sips fuel while still giving you a huge amount of kick (pun intended). This SUV can deliver up to 280 Nm of instant torque and 22 km/L of fuel economy1 , giving you a range of about 900 km in just one full tank2. To put this in perspective, it will take you just one full tank to drive to Sagada, and back3 . These radical set of figures can only be achieved by an equally revolutionary tech—the Nissan e-POWER system. And for those in Metro Manila, this

electrified vehicle is exempted from the number coding scheme under the EVIDA Law. Yes, you can now take this car to EDSA everyday, at your convenience.

Drive with peace of mind. The Nissan Kicks e-POWER comes with a five-year warranty (or coverage of the first 150,000 km, whichever comes first) that covers the battery and only requires twice-a-year preventive maintenance service, saving you time and money.

Own one of your own, starting at only Php 1M+. Visit www.nissan.ph/kicks to experience electric.

EDITOR’S NOTE

IT’S BEEN A LONG RIDE

n 2013 I was invited by a publisher to head a new magazine franchise to be released in the Philippines. I was already writing for motoring sections of newspapers and digital sites at the time so I said yes.

On January of 2014, the first issue of Autocar Philippines came out with the Rolls Royce on its cover. It was quite a thrill to be publishing when my whole career up to this point was in broadcasting (both radio and television).

But after a year, the company that ran Autocar PH decided to let the title go. We, a group of gearheads who only wanted to stay in the automotive scene, decided to put up our own company that prints a car magazine.

By February of 2015 we had put up Wheels

Magazine Philippines, and our journey into being an independent (Indie) publisher began. Wheels was cut short because by May, Haymarket, the parent company of Autocar in the UK gave us a call and asked us if we wanted the franchise the other company let go.

Of course, we took the opportunity. With the meager budget we had, and just five of us partners, we took the Autocar franchise and re-introduced the title into the market. We were surprised when it was met with enthusiasm by the automotive industry. By 2019, the title was well on its way to becoming a go to magazine for anyone who loved cars. We were on the magazine stands and bookstores monthly, and the business was even growing.

But, sadly, the pandemic hit. And

everything print began to lose steam. From 2020, society was on lockdown, nobody wanted to move and products like magazines and books were one that took the heaviest toll.

For the next three and a half years our team had to reinvent the business of car magazines. We needed to go digital, hit the social media platforms, charge into the web.

But we did not want to be irresponsible. We did not want to churn out content that would

definitely give us the numbers but not be of service to the market or help develop society. What we wanted was to be a medium that partners with the industry we are covering, a guide to the viewers/audience following us, put a positive impact on the lives of people and not foster more hate and drama on the already confusing and hate filled social media.

So, we stayed our course, kept to the news and developments, tried to keep our opinions

balanced and productive, kept our influence onto the positive direction.

Somehow, many believed this to be the right direction and they followed us and stayed with us, both in the physical world of print magazine and the digital world of web and social media sphere.

We celebrated our anniversary in the month of July because this team first published our version of Autocar on this month. We celebrated the year it was born in 2014 because it was the first year the title was seen in Philippine stands and bookstores.

It’s been a long ride, 10 years to be exact, but we are still having fun. And we do not intend to veer from our course. We will try and remain a positive, developmental, and productive influence in the industry we cater to, the automotive (now more of mobility) industry.

With A World Endurance Championship program in its plans and out in the open, Hyundai remains positive it can maintain and grow its manufacturer base in the World Rally Championship

The World Rally Championship (WRC) is doing “all it can” to maintain its current manufacturers list and create a series that can attract at least one new manufacturer by 2027 reports from the championship’s promoter.

Rallying’s honcho’s have long been striving to broaden its manufacturer base, having contrived with three brands, Toyota, Hyundai and Ford thru M-Sport, represented in the top class when Citroen exited at the end of 2019.

Earlier this month reports circulated in Rally Poland that Hyundai were organizing to launch their own Hypercar program in the World Endurance Championship, pitching apprehensions over the Korean carmaker’s long-term future in the WRC.

Cyril Abiteboul, Hyundai Motorsport’s president and team principal said that an announcement about their motorsport plans, including the WRC, will come soon which could likely be in September.

The FIA went back on their plans to change the technical regulations for next year, after being pressured by WRC manufacturers and opted instead for stability for the next two years, well ahead of an all-new regulations for 2027.

WRC Promoters believe the championship can maintain its

current manufacturers and add one more by 2027.

“I cannot say I have no doubt our current brands will stay because it’s not our decision, but I’m confident that we will create such a good championship that it’s worth to be there,” Peter Thul, WRC Promoter’s Senior Director of Sport. “And on top of that, I also hope if we have good 2027 regulations done by the end of the year to get at least one more manufacturer going into 2027. This is our target.” He added.

“This is our wish, because we have to move the championship forward. And again, I cannot comment on internal thoughts of manufacturers. But as I said, it has to be so attractive that they want to stay in. This is what we can do, and we have to do. Thul continued.

“We will do everything to keep these three on board and we have had good discussions with them. We are open to any suggestions. I think we have never had so much good discussions, whether it’s regulations or sporting regulations.”

The FIA’s push towards stability until the end of 2026 as the “right

decision” was declared by the WRC, but Thul has been persistent in a need for the 2027 regulations to be released this year to help manufacturers in guidance and to understand the championship’s future direction.

“I’m quite positive, I think the FIA’s call for stability in technical regulations is the right decision,” Thul further stated.

“It was good to discuss about all the kind of things, and what we now have is stability. But for us, even more important is that the regulations for 2027 are now done in a very fast way. That means we need it this year because we have to think about the future and I think that everybody knows that there is a need and there is a lot of work already ongoing.

“Let’s say we are not doing the rules, but we know what’s going on and I’m very confident. It’s getting in the right direction. I think everybody has a common sense how it should look like. The only thing is how much flexibility has to be in for the different kinds of drivetrains, this I don’t know.” Thul ended.

Toyota supplies 3,374 Next-Gen, Sustainable Mobility Solutions to the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024

In the lead-up to the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024, Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) elevates its long-withstanding global partnership with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), with the delivery of 3,374 sustainable mobility vehicles to support athletes, officials, volunteers, accredited media and spectators at the Games. These mobility solutions have been specially designed to incorporate the visual identity of Paris 2024 to highlight the strong partnership between Toyota and the Games.

Ensuring attendees fair and hassle-free access, the vehicles are offered as a shared mobility service connected to and powered by Toyota’s KINTO Share mobile app. The KINTO Share car-sharing service has been made available to the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee since September 2023 and will supplement Toyota’s official fleet to offer the Olympic and Paralympic family greater flexibility.

The cornerstone of Toyota’s Mobility for All philosophy lies in the belief that freedom of movement is key for active societal participation. Transitioning toward a mobility company, Toyota demonstrates the headway it has made in alleviating potential-limiting mobility barriers, as part of its “Start Your Impossible” (SYI) global corporate initiative that empowers everyone to challenge themselves and achieve their ‘impossible.’ The provision of these vehicles

is in addition to Toyota’s partnership with more than 200 Global Team Toyota Athletes from 40 countries, who are set to compete at the Games.

In collaboration with the IOC, IPC and Paris Organizing Committee of Olympic and Paralympic Games, Toyota brings to life its inclusive and sustainable mobility concept for Paris 2024 — ensuring that athletes and their families, staff, volunteers, and spectators are provided the freedom to move, sustainably and safely around the athlete’s village and respective Games venues.

ENABLING FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT FOR EVERYONE

Demonstrating its ‘Mobility for All’ ethos, Toyota provides Olympic and Paralympic Games

Paris 2024 with 700 personal and group mobility products to afford ease of movement.

Toyota has supplied over 250 seated C+walkS and standing C+walkT, personal battery electric vehicles that comprise a maximum speed of 6 km/h. Boasting front obstacle detection systems, the two vehicles

deliver safety to drivers and those around them.

Committed to fostering a future of inclusive mobility, Toyota has developed wheelchair e-pullers, with fifty of them currently available at Paris 2024’s athletes’ village. These will be supplemented with an additional 150 e-pullers during the Paralympic Games opening ceremony to ensure athletes have easy access.

Two hundred fifty redesigned zero tailpipe emission electric Accessible People Movers (APM) have also been deployed to support attendees with physical disabilities. These APMs act as the main shuttle in the Olympic and Paralympic Village and at the venues. Complementing these are 150 wheelchairaccessible battery-electric vehicles, Toyota Proace Versos, that will remain in Paris after the Games for the use of people in wheelchairs.

DEMONSTRATING

TOYOTA’S MULTI-PATHWAY APPROACH TO CARBON NEUTRALITY

Placing sustainability at the heart of its commitment to building a better world of tomorrow,

Toyota remains dedicated to achieving global carbon neutrality by 2050. Showcasing the progress it has made by leveraging its multipath-way approach that delivers a combination of different electrified vehicles, Toyota has brought over a fully electrified passenger vehicle fleet comprising 2,650 vehicles — of which 150 are wheelchair accessible — to Paris 2024.

Emitting zero-tailpipe emissions, about 60% of the fleet includes battery electric vehicles (BEV) Toyota bZ4X, Proace and Proace Verso and Lexus RZ, and fuel-cell electric vehicles (FCEV) Toyota Mirai. Reflective of Toyota’s dedication to offering zero-emission vehicles, the Toyota Mirai is a hydrogenfuel-cell-powered sedan that melds the boons of electric mobility with unparalleled comfort and ease of use, autonomy, and rapid recharging. In collaboration with Air Liquide, the Paris 2024 Toyota Mirai fleet has been refueled with hydrogen from renewable sources.

Believing that hydrogen is key to fostering a low-carbon world, Toyota presents its vision of creating a sustainable

hydrogen ecosystem, through hydrogen solutions that go beyond current boundaries of hydrogenpowered mobility.

Ten different hydrogen mobility applications, consisting of mostly fuelcell, will be on display at Paris 2024, including two FCEV buses, converted specifically for the Games. These are alongside hydrogen-powered FCEV trucks, FCEV forklifts and FCEV-powered boats and coaches, as well as the Hilux prototype.

EMPOWERING INDIVIDUALS TO START THEIR ‘IMPOSSIBLE’

Athletes’ devotion to sports and overcoming challenges are exemplary of Toyota’s continuous improvement core value and commitment to creating a more inclusive and sustainable world. Toyota is a proud partner of more than 200 Global Team Toyota Athletes, from 40 countries, progressing themselves toward taking center stage at Paris 2024.

In the region, Toyota Motor Asia has partnered with 11 trailblazing athletes from India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, as part of the SYI initiative — Toyota’s first-ever global corporate initiative that seeks to create an EverBetter Society, Ever-Better Toyota and Ever-Better Mobility for All. Through these partnerships, Toyota supports each Global Team Toyota athlete in achieving their sporting aspirations and championing social causes through Hero Projects targeted at making positive societal changes.

Grab,

BYD Cars Philippines team up for EV pilot study in ride-hailing

Driving towards a sustainable transportation sector, Grab Philippines and BYD Cars Philippines launch a pilot study aimed at examining the feasibility of introducing electric vehicles (EVs) into the digital ride-hailing industry.

The pilot study will run for one month and will closely follow the experience of a contingent of Grab driver-partners testing out the BYD Dolphin. It will examine key operational and economic implications of using EVs as TNVS vehicles.

Through the analysis of collected data on total distance covered, battery efficiency, and their impact on the earning capacity and overall productivity of driver-partners, Grab and BYD Cars Philippines aim to offer valuable insights to transport stakeholders. Their goal is to help navigate the path towards greener mobility options in digital ride-hailing,

while exploring potential cost-effective and profitmaximizing alternatives to conventional fuelcombusting vehicles.

Grab Philippines Head of Mobility EJ Dela Vega shares, “Grab is fully dedicated to achieving carbon neutrality by 2040 and critical to this is the inclusion of low or zeroemission vehicles in our fleet. Through this pilot study, we aim to formulate strategic recommendations around the effective integration of electric vehicles in ride-hailing fleets as we proactively co-engineer a more sustainable Philippine mobility ecosystem with all transport stakeholders.”

In the Grab ESG Report 2023, it was revealed that the leading superapp in Southeast Asia was able to reduce ~71,000 tCO2e through the use of low and zero-emission transport options. Still, several key factors must be considered in the shift to sustainable

mobility, including charging infrastructure, public awareness and adoption, and regulatory frameworks.

Toti Zara, Head of Retail & Distribution of ACMobility, Ayala’s automotive and mobility infrastructure group, is confident that the joint pilot study with Grab is a significant stride towards addressing these challenges. He views this collaboration as a crucial step in paving the way to the electrification of local ride-hailing. “The results of these end-toend trials will help us create an ecosystem-wide approach to accelerating the adoption of sustainable mobility in our country. We are glad to be pioneering this landmark study with Grab, who share our passion for safe and efficient transportation that is friendlier to our environment,” Zara shares.

In preparation for the deployment of the EVs

in the GrabCar fleet, the dedicated group of Grab driver-partners underwent a special training with the BYD Cars Philippines team. The training covered a variety of subjects, including understanding charging options and planning, and the notable differences between EVs and traditional fuelcombusting cars. One such difference is the concept of regenerative braking, a unique feature in EVs that allows drivers to recapture energy as they decelerate. Driver-partners were also trained to use ACMobility’s network of EV chargers, which can be easily located and accessed through the EVRO mobile app. This app is available for download via the Google Play Store and the Apple Store.

On his part, LTFRB Chairman Teofilo Guadiz has expressed support for the EV pilot study in the TNVS industry. “We are committed to advancing the

transportation landscape of the Philippines through innovation and sustainable solutions, and this pilot marks a critical step in our efforts to explore and understand the unique opportunities and challenges associated with EV adoption in our country, and will provide us valuable insights and data to help us craft informed, inclusive, and effective policies that support and promote sustainable urban mobility while ensuring the safety and convenience of the commuting public. We thank Grab Philippines and ACMobility for this proactive initiative and look forward to collaborating more closely towards a greener and more sustainable future for Philippine transportation.” The EV pilot study will launch in BGC, Makati City, Pasay City, and Mandaluyong City, leveraging the areas’ existing EV charging infrastructure.

Globe PH and Grab PH empower Filipino women through “Misiskolar” Program

In a collaborative effort to uplift Filipino women, Globe has partnered with Grab to launch the Misiskolar Program, offering digital upskilling opportunities and new livelihood paths for the spouses of Grab driver partners. This initiative aims to equip women with in- demand digital skills to enhance their employability and encourage entrepreneurship.

Under this partnership, Globe will sponsor Essential Skills and Virtual Assistance courses. Developed with edutech firm KodeGo for an initial group of 100 Grab driver- partners, delivery- partners, and their spouses, the scholars will have full access to courses focused on building essential digital skills.

The Misiskolar Program aligns with Globe and Grab’s shared vision of uplifting lives by bringing growth opportunities to Grab’s driver community and their families. A study by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) highlighted that noninternet users cited the lack of knowledge and high costs as barriers. Globe’s collaboration with Grab and KodeGo aims to bridge this digital divide by providing skill- building programs to open up new opportunities.

“Our polestar is to make every Filipino an active and thriving participant in the digital economy. Among the thrusts that propel

this mission forward is our focus on inclusive capacity-building,” said CJ Lacsican, Grab Philippines Head of Operations. “The Misiskolar Program is geared at making a transformative impact on the livelihood and social progress of our driver-partners and their families through accessible digital upskilling. We are glad to partner with Globe on this program as we share the vision of creating a brighter digital future for Filipino communities,” he adds.

Yoly Crisanto, Globe’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer, underscored the initiative’s broader goals: “Globe’s partnership with Grab reflects our commitment to providing tech-enabled education to uplift lives and make a real difference. This program is also aligned with our commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, prioritizing the advancement of women as integral to our corporate agenda.”

Crisela MagpayoCervantes, Globe’s VP for Marketing Communications, emphasized the

program’s impact: “We believe that women play an important role in driving progress, not just for their own families, but also for their broader communities. Through this partnership with

Grab and KodeGo, we aim to provide women with access to digital skills that will enhance their employability, encourage entrepreneurship, and improve access to sources of livelihood. By equipping women with digital skills, we hope to help them increase their confidence and empower them to realize their potential.”

Patricia Gaw, KodeGo Venture Builder, expressed excitement about the collaboration: “KodeGo is thrilled to be part of this amazing initiative to open doors for Filipino women. Our

career programs are designed to make digital skills training affordable and accessible. With endto-end support, we equip our students with the knowledge and skills to launch successful careers in tech fields.”

Supporting the Misiskolar Program, Globe At Home offers affordable and reliable connectivity through GFiber Prepaid to provide fast, unlimited internet at affordable rates with no lock-in subscription. Scholars needing stable connections at home can sign up for suitable offers.

MG CELEBRATES 100 YEARS

In 1909, William Morris, a bicycle maker, setup shop called Morris Garages where he would sell, repair cars. In 1912, he decided wanted to start making his own, a new light car. His first car was the 2-seat Morris Oxford “Bullnose”, named after himself and city where he grew up. In 1914, there was clamour for a 4-seat version of his car, and he went about having them made even through the outbreak of the First World War. He continued to innovate and in 1915, he came out with the bigger 2 and 4-seat Morris Cowley.

In 1921, Cecil Kimber, joined Morris Garages and soon started managing the business which at the time was the service and maintenance of Morris cars and some other brands. After the war, Morris Garages advertised the Morris Sports, which were standard Morris Oxfords modified, with notable features like a polished body, a pointed tail, an upscale interior or “coachwork”, a deluxe version of the ordinary version.

In 1923, Kimber introduced a Morris Oxford with a lowered, sturdier chassis and larger engine, an angled steering wheel, also with better steering, a sports car which he called the M.G. 14/28 Sports. The windscreen was also angled with braces and discs fitted to the inner and outer wheels to cover the spokes. It also had a polished

body and not long after, they were adorned with the circular MG Super Sports badge.

Morris produced these versions and referred to them as MG, and in late 1923, the MG logo with the octagon as we recognize it now, appeared for the first time in an advertisement.

Morris’ business grew as he produced quality cars at affordable prices, his brand soon overtook Ford in 1924 to become the UK’s biggest car manufacturer. Fast forward to 2007, MG was bought by Nanjing Automobile Group in China, and in the same year merged into SAIC Motor.

MG CYBERSTER

As MG celebrates it’s centenary in 2024, they commemorate their first sports car, with their latest sports car, actually, roadster, the all-electric MG Cyberster.

It all started when a team of SAIC London studio designers mapped out a modern interpretation of the legendary MG B, back in 2017. Even if it wasn’t their job to do, they did anyway, out of pure love. Also, there were times when this project almost didn’t push through, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

When Chairman Chen Hong witnessed audience excitement when they saw the concept display at the Shanghai Motor Show in 2021, he gave the project his blessing.

Using proper sports car proportions, Carl Gotham’s design was still able to communicate a more distinctly “electric” than past MG EVs. The Cyberster was able to avoid the “slightly too-high” side profile which makes many EVs look a bit awkward, thanks to SAIC’s “ultra-thin” battery cell design, the 77kWh pack is not even as tall as the height of a soda can.

Does it resemble the MG B? Far from it, but it does have a convincing appearance of a contemporary supercar, which is reinforced by the motorized scissor doors and the diffuser on the back end. The rear LED arrow indicators are pretty cool too. Up front are LED daytime running lights and Automatic LED headlights with intelligent headlight control, a fully electric fabric top and a heated rear window. It rolls on Jetstream design 20” alloy wheels, with red Brembo brakes.

It would be inaccurate to refer to the Cyberster as a baby supercar, given that it shares the McLaren F1’s 0-62 mph time and at only a fraction of the cost.

If you’re still at odds with MG now being a Chinese company, its still very much British, as a sizeable portion of the necessary work on bringing this roadster to being, was performed in the UK, at Longbridge. The same engineers tuned the ride, handling, steering, roll bars, springs, dampers, power plant, advanced driver assistance systems, refinement, lighting, and the on board 7kw charging system.

They also decided on a lower driving position, Zero Gravity Seats, one-pedal drive mode, they also included a rear wind deflector and enough boot space to

fit golf clubs. Its infotainment system has Apple Carplay and Android Auto, and is equipped with a BOSE 8-Speaker System and an Interior Ambient Lighting System.

Behind the wheel, you’ll find that the touchscreens that surround you all have function, resembling the screens and functionality of a smartphone, you’ll use these to adjust many vehicle settings and the dual zone automatic climate control. You have the main center screen which displays the 10.25” digital instrument cluster and the smaller 7” on on the left is for media and navigation while the other 7” on the right is for various other functions. There is also another 7” vertical color touchscreen on the central console. You’ll also have access to info like weather forecasts and your energy consumption.

If you’re still at odds with MG now being a Chinese company, its still very much British, as a sizeable portion of the necessary work on bringing this roadster to being, was performed in the UK, at Longbridge.

The Cyberster GT, offered here in the Philippines is the All Wheel Drive drive variant that puts out 544Ps with 720Nm of torque with a range of 446 kilometers (WLTP) and 4 drive-modes : Comfort, Sport, Custom and Track, toggles with the right hand paddle shifter and the left hand paddle shifter adjusts the regenerative braking strength. It also has Launch Control.

Driver convenience features are Power Assisted Steering, Front and Rear parking sensors, Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold, Multifunction steering wheel, Center Armrest with storage, tilt / telescopic steering column, driver and passenger 6 way electronically adjustable seats and two USB ports (USB-C and USB-A)

Safety features are 3-point seatbelts for both occupants, front passenger airbag on/ off switch, seatbelt reminders, integrated airbags and door open warning. It also has Antilock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Active safety features are Pedestrian Warning, Active Emergency Braking with Pedestrian/Bicycle detection and Blind Spot Detection.

Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS) are Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Traffic Jam Assist, Intelligent Speed Assist, 360 degree parking camera, and Front Collision Warning.

When we drove it, there wasn’t much body roll, imperceptible even when cornering hard and quickly, the suspension, double wishbones up front and a five-link setup in back, never overly firm. This All Wheel Drive is easily controllable even when driven hard, tires with substantial grip, and considerable weight down low. Braking is effortless into a corner, and powering through the apex is easy. Helped

along by the even front and rear weight distribution.

I guess if you told William Morris and Cecil Kimber 100 years ago this is what their Morris Oxford would evolve into this technological wonder, they probably wouldn’t believe it.

A VINFAST EXPERIENCE

Filipino car buys are in a good place now, with many brands to choose from, with diesel, petrol, hybrid and EV options and even more dizzying price and payment options. Car makers, especially new brands now have to convince the Filipino to invest their hard earned money in them, and therein lies the challenge. While a good majority of Pinoys will probably use price as a yardstick for choice, we are still finicky about brand reputation or perceived reputation, product quality and what our dad or tito thinks about a particular brand and model. Their experience and opinion even in this modern age still weighs on our final decision. But for new brands, there is a silver lining to this dad/tito obstacle, treat us right and we’ll be forever loyal and defend your brand ferociously in any online forum of drinking session.

A new brand, Vinfast, has recently entered the Philippines from Vietnam, and offering an EV lineup, a variety of e-scooters and an e-bike. And they recently invited us to see their

manufacturing facility in Hanoi, Vietnam and get a glimpse of how serious they are about the automotive business, and how they fit into a vast conglomerate.

VinFast is part of VinGroup, which started off as Technocom Group, put together in 1993 in Ukraine by Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong. Fast forward 31 years, it is now the largest private conglomerate in Vietnam. Formed in 2017, VinFast started making vehicles with internal combustion engines (ICE) and in 2022 stopped producing gas engines and fully concentrated on EV production.

After we arrived in Hanoi, we headed to Ha Long, which was where we would spend our first night, at the VinPearl Resort and Spa. According to our hosts, was one of the “smaller” luxury resorts owned and operated by VinGroup. By the way, VinPearl operates 35 hotels in Vietnam.

Our second day would see us travel about 120kms east of Hanoi to the VinFast HQ at the Dinh Vu Industrial Park in Hai Phong. For a brand that’s only 7 years old, this 335 hectare facility is quite

impressive.

The first facility we were shown was the e-scooter plant, which has a floor area of 64,000 square meters, this is where they manufacture a variety of electric scooters and an e-bike. They project to be able to produce roughly 250,000 e-scooters annually.

Next, we went to the their automotive manufacturing. The first area we visited was their Press Shop, a 50,000 square meter facility where they cut and stamp sheet metal into body panels, and this is also where they store the stampings and where they maintain the dies.

After that we went to the Body Shop where the body panels that come from the Press Shop are put together either by different welding techniques or sealant, all performed by robots. This facility can put out components to the equivalent of 48 vehicles per hour. These then make their way to the 25,000 square meter Paint Shop which has an 800 vehicle per day capacity.

Then came the General

Assembly Shop, and this is pretty much where the painted body is mated with all the components that make it a car, seats and the rest of the interior, windscreens, the sub-frame with the front wheel assembly and EV control components, electric motor, rear suspension assembly, and finally the battery gets fitted to the underside of the vehicle.

Two facilities we didn’t get to see up close were the Electric Motor Shop, where they manufacture and put together the electric motors for the EV’s and the Machining Shop where they, as the name implies, mold and machine metal into components or parts for the EV’s and e-scooters. We also noted that they set aside a big part of the property for their Supplier Park, where companies who are part of the supply chain can, and have set up their offices and manufacturing making it easier to get parts straight to the assembly line.

After the factory tour, we went to their test track to test drive their lineup, along with the models which may be made available in

here in the Philippines, the VFe34, VF5, VF7 and VF9. We were able to do some handling and acceleration tests.

We didn’t really have enough time to get some in depth driving impressions, but they did perform as well as expected for their categories. I guess a chance to drive them longer on Philippine roads will give us the proper insight we need to make a thorough conclusion, and also, it would all boil down to pricing and specifications.

On our last full day, our hosts took us on a tour of the VinGroup ecosystem, we got to see their residential projects called VinHomes Oceanpark, A self contained community which essentially was an upscale residential real estate development with very big man made “Ocean” with sand, located conveniently next to the VinCom Mega Mall, their chain of malls (under VinCom Retail), and this was next to the sprawling campus of VinUniversity.

VinHomes has developed 29 areas in the country and has over

470,000 residents. There were also many parking spaces with V-Green EV charging stations, a company set up by VinGroup which focuses on charging infrastructure.

What we saw was just a bit of what VinGroup is about, we did experience the product of VinBus, their passenger transportation brand which pioneered the first electric bus routes in Vietnam.

There’s more to Vinpearl resort and spa, their tourismresort-entertainment brand, there’s also VinWonders amusement parks, with 2 conservation parks for semi-wild animals, 4 golf courses and even a golf course in Australia.

Vinmec is their non-profit academic medical system, in conjunction with Institute of Health Sciences - VinUniversity. They currently have 7 hospitals and 4 international standard multidisciplinary clinics. Vinschool is the largest non-profit private education system in Vietnam, Kindergarten – Highschool, with 50 institutions in Vietnam.

It also makes sense that

VinGroup would also be into technology and AI, VinAI specializes in artificial intelligence research and developing AI applications for the global market. In line with this is VinBigData, which develops Virtual assistants, Chatbots/Voicebots, Automated customer service call centers, AI Camera security surveillance systems, AI solutions in medical image diagnosis, Big data mining, processing and analysis solutions among many others.

VinBrain is their medical technology company that develops AI-powered products for disease diagnosis, treatment, and hospital data management. VinCSS is their cyber-security company which provides comprehensive security solutions in the digital environment. VinHMS is the group’s software manufacturing company, which specializes in optimizing business operations of enterprises in the tourism and hospitality industry.

VinITIS is one of VinGroup’s oldest tech companies, it stands for Information Technology Solutions and Transmission

Infrastructure, one of the main functions are Core Information Technology Services, Transmission Services for the operations of the entire Group and related activities.

To say VinGroup is a big company is an understatement, and knowing that they have seriously invested in VInFast’s manufacturing, technology, software and supply chain shows their commitment to the brand, even more so with a US$4B investment in a 400 hectare manufacturing plant in North Carolina which is to start production in mid 2025.

VInFast has reached where they are now in a shorter amount of time than many of their competitors, here’s hoping they take the time to make sure to learn lessons from other companies growing pains, who have come ahead of them, ensuring that they are able to properly serve their customers with actual quality vehicles and good after sales service to earn the Filipino’s trust. At the rate they’re going, I guess we’ll find this out sooner than later.

TEAM MSCC MAZDA MIATA WINS AT 2024 KALAYAAN CUP 12-HOUR ENDURO

Last June 16, the grueling 2024 Petron Kalayaan Cup went underway at the Clark International Speedway (CIS) in Pampanga. What began as a morning of uncertainty ended in a late afternoon of celebration as team MSCC showed class, dominating force at the 12-hour endurance race in style.

The #55 Team MSCC Mazda Miata MX-5 clinched first place in the Open A category, completing 250 laps of the 4.2 km long circuit, and securing the Fastest Lap with a time of 2:10.687. The victory was marked by a dramatic last-lap overtake, highlighting the team’s resilience and strategy.

Despite challenging conditions, Team MSCC Mazda Miata, led by Team Manager Edgen Dy-Liacco, crafted a winning strategy focusing on the car’s stock 184 PS, 205 Nm

2.0-liter Skyactiv-G engine and 6-speed Skyactiv-Drive manual transmission. The car, lightened for the 12hour race, was driven by five experienced racers: Angie King, Tyson Sy, Juha Turalba, Windy Imperial, and Mazda Motorsports’ Takahiro Kobayakawa.

Qualifying in P2, the MX-5 quickly lost two places but regained the lead by Lap 3 with Tyson Sy behind the wheel. Angie King remarked, “The performance of the MX-5 this year exceeded our expectations. We think we have already reached the optimal efficiency of what this car offers as a racing platform.”

At the 4.5-hour mark, a gearbox fault caused the team to lose several gears, reducing their pace significantly. Juha Turalba managed to bring the car back to the pits, where the team decided to continue racing despite the

setback. “Mechanical issues happen in racing,” said Tyson Sy. “The team decided that for as long as we have the parts, we’ll continue. At this point, our mindset was simply never to give up.”

Under the supervision of Dy-liacco, the mechanics replaced the entire gearbox in less than two hours. By then, the team was nearly 40 laps behind, in last place. The drivers worked tirelessly to claw back, cutting the lap difference to just 25 laps by the 10-hour mark. With the race leaders experiencing their own issues, Team MSCC Mazda Miata found themselves in 7th place overall, just 21 laps down to the leaders and two laps behind their main rival in the Open A Class by the 11.5-hour mark.

In the final lap, Tyson Sy managed a dramatic overtake at the Acacia Corner, securing the

Open A Championship. “Every race, we treat winning as the ultimate reward and thanks to everyone’s efforts—the drivers, the mechanics, everyone—our class victory at the 2024 Kalayaan Cup 12-hour Endurance Race is much sweeter,” said Steven Tan. “We faced hardships in achieving our result this year, but it’s all part of Mazda’s ‘Never Stop Challenging Spirit.’ I’m so proud of what Team MSCC Mazda Miata has achieved.”

This victory builds on the team’s previous successes, including overall wins at the 2 and 4-hour 2024 Kagitingan Cup. In 2023, the same car won the 4-hour Kagitingan Cup. In 2022, it took the overall victory at the 8-hour Makabayan Endurance Race Challenge. It won the 8-Oras ng Pilipinas and 12-Hour Kalayaan Cup in 2019 and the 12Hour Kalayaan Cup in 2021.

NAVIGATING FLOODED STREETS SAFELY

As the rainy season hits the Philippines, heavy downpours often lead to flooding, creating significant challenges and hazards for drivers. While it’s best to avoid driving through flooded streets, sometimes it’s unavoidable. Here are essential tips to help you navigate flooded areas safely.

Assess the Situation

Before attempting to drive through a flooded street, assess the water depth. If the water level is above the midpoint of your wheels, it’s generally unsafe to proceed. Vehicles can stall, sustain damage, or be swept away in deeper waters. If unsure, find an alternative route or wait until the water recedes.

Maintain a Steady Pace

If you decide to proceed, maintain a slow and steady pace. Sudden acceleration or braking can cause water to enter the engine,

potentially leading to a stall. Keeping a consistent speed helps create a small wave in front of your vehicle, reducing the risk of water intake.

Keep a Safe Distance

Maintain a safe distance from other vehicles to avoid collisions or being splashed with water, which can reduce visibility and control. Be mindful of larger vehicles, such as trucks and buses, which can create significant waves.

Use Low Gear

When driving through floodwaters, use a low gear to maintain better control and traction. This helps prevent water from entering the exhaust system and keeps the engine running smoothly.

Do Not Restart a Stalled Engine

If your vehicle stalls in the water, do not attempt to restart the

engine. This can cause severe engine damage. Instead, exit the vehicle if it is safe to do so and seek assistance.

Avoid Driving at Night

Visibility is greatly reduced at night, making it harder to judge the depth and flow of floodwaters. If possible, avoid driving through flooded areas after dark.

Know When to Abandon the Vehicle

If water levels are rising rapidly and your vehicle is at risk of being submerged, abandon the vehicle and seek higher ground. Safety should always be the priority over property.

Prepare an Emergency Kit

Having an emergency kit in your vehicle can be lifesaving. Include items such as a flashlight, firstaid kit, bottled water, a raincoat, non-perishable food, and a fully

charged power bank for your phone. This preparation can provide essential support if you become stranded.

Monitor Weather Updates

Stay informed about weather conditions and flood warnings through local news, radio, or weather apps. Avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rains and heed advisories from authorities.

Navigating flooded streets in the Philippines requires careful consideration and prudent decision-making. By assessing the situation, maintaining a steady pace, and prioritizing safety, motorists can reduce the risks associated with driving through floodwaters. Always remember that your safety and that of your passengers is paramount. When in doubt, it is always best to err on the side of caution and avoid flooded areas whenever possible.

ISUZU UNVEILS UPGRADED 2024 D-MAX

ENHANCED DESIGN, COMFORT, AND OFF-ROAD TECHNOLOGY

Isuzu Philippines has just unveiled the revamped 2024 Isuzu D-MAX, showcasing significant improvements in exterior design, interior comfort, and offroad technology. This latest iteration is being hailed as the best version of the third-generation model to date.

The 2024 D-MAX features a refreshed front end with redesigned headlights and taillights, and a revamped interior boasting more premium materials. The standout addition is the new ‘Rough Terrain Mode,’ which utilizes wheel sensors to detect grip levels and allocate power to the wheel with the most traction.

Enhanced Exterior Design

Motoring enthusiasts have long praised the Isuzu D-MAX for its striking appearance and muscular stance. The facelifted 2024 model is set to leave an even greater impression, departing from its traditional utilitarian image.

The new fascia of the D-MAX enhances its road presence with a central bulge on the hood and broad-angled shoulders for a muscular look. Despite its aggressive new design, the D-MAX continues to prioritize aerodynamic performance and fuel economy.

The bumper now integrates seamlessly with the body, featuring broader accents for added prominence. The lower radiator slats adopt a new honeycomb lattice design, enhancing cooling efficiency.

Newly enlarged fog lamp housings and repositioned turn signals within the headlamp housing improve visibility and style. The headlamp cluster now includes Bi-LED headlamps and integrated LED DRLs with turn signals.

The profile maintains its muscular shoulders and character lines due to its matte grey overfenders. The 265/60R18 AllTerrain tires mounted on six-spoke

black alloy rims remain rugged and easy to clean after off-road adventures.

At the rear, the D-MAX features a redesigned tailgate with a dimple and flared lip, a new handle design, and a keyhole for tailgate locking if a canopy or lid is fitted. The tailgate assist ensures easier handling, while the redesigned LED lamps in the taillight cluster enhance both style and functionality.

Upgraded Interior

The 2024 D-MAX takes interior comfort and sophistication to new heights, typically seen in high-end SUVs. The door panels now feature a new ‘miura’ design inspired by Japanese origami, continuing onto the dashboard. A driver-selectable ambient lighting system offers a choice of colors or can be turned off completely.

Soft-touch panels and extensive use of leather cladding on the multifunction steering wheel and seats give the D-MAX X a premium feel. The seats feature a new pattern with perforations for improved ventilation and comfort.

A new 10-inch infotainment head unit offers quicker access to key items like the 360° Around View Monitor with 3D image guide and Reverse Camera. It also connects wirelessly to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The instrument panel includes a new 7-inch MultiInformation Display for easier information access and vehicle settings changes, controlled via the steering wheel, with customizable graphics for displays like fuel level,

temperature, and engine speed.

Advanced Safety Features

The Isuzu D-MAX has achieved a maximum 5-star rating in the ASEAN NCAP safety rating. The new generation of All-sight safety functions enhances the safety of the D-MAX.

An improved 4th-generation stereo camera with a wider 120° viewing angle detects and recognizes more objects, especially from the sides, with an extended forward detection distance from 120m to 150m. This enhanced capability allows the D-MAX to identify potential dangers, alert the driver, or take action to avoid accidents, including improved pedestrian safety.

A new feature, the Rear Cross Traffic Brake, alerts the driver and applies the brakes if a collision is imminent while reversing, a valuable addition for urban settings.

On and Off-Road Capability

Designed to handle both on-road and off-road conditions, the D-MAX boasts a 240mm ground clearance, all-terrain tires, and an 800mm water wading capability. The driver-selectable Terrain Command switch allows quick adaptation to conditions by selecting 2H, 4H, or 4L, while a rear Differential Lock helps navigate extreme off-road conditions. The new Rough Terrain Mode uses wheel sensors to detect grip levels and apportion power to the wheel with the most grip, combining torque distribution and

individual wheel braking for smooth power transmission.

Rough Terrain Mode, along with Hill Start Assist (HSA), Hill Descent Control (HDC), and Diff Lock, empowers drivers with limited off-road experience to confidently venture onto unpaved roads.

The 2024 Isuzu D-MAX is powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged Blue Power diesel engine delivering 190PS and 450Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission with sequential shift.

Along with the introduction of the new 2024 Isuzu D-MAX, Isuzu Philippines is also introducing the D-MAX 4x2 LS-E AT, a new entry into the 4x2 segment, that comes with all the high-end bells and whistles as with the 4x4 model. For the D-MAX LS-A, IPC introduces two variants, the regular LS-A variant which carries a 9-inch infotainment system, while the D-MAX LS-A Plus variant will support the 10-inch infotainment system, offering a variety of choices for its customers nationwide.

The new 2024 Isuzu D-MAX comes in its banner color Namibu Orange and new Biarritz Blue color that is only available on its high-end LS-E variant. Other body colors include Onyx Black, Islay Gray, Satin Pearl White, and Splash White.

Prices for the new Isuzu D-MAX are as follows: 3.0 4x4 LS-E AT, 1,945,000.00; 3.0 4x2 LS-E AT, 1,695,000.00; 3.0 4x4 LS-A MT Plus, 1,750,000.00; 3.0 4x4 LS-A MT, 1,710,000.00; 3.0 4x2 LS-A AT Plus, 1,510,000.00; 3.0 4x2 LS-A AT, 1,470,000.00; 3.0 4x2 LS-A MT Plus, 1,440,000.00; 3.0 4x2 LS-A MT, 1,400,000.00; 3.0 4x4 LT MT, 1,299,000.00; RZ4E 4x2 LT MT, 1,048,000.00; 3.0 4x4 Single Cab MT, 1,178,000.00; and RZ4E 4x2 Single Cab MT, 938,000.00.

TAMING THE ALL-NEW FORD BRONCO

The recent debut of the all-new Ford Bronco has generated significant excitement among enthusiasts and fans of the blue oval brand. Ford Philippines is introducing the Bronco Outer Banks trim with the Sasquatch Package, a variant that is exceptionally well-equipped. To showcase the capabilities of this legendary SUV, Ford swiftly organized a media drive.

The testing took place along the Sacobia River near Clark, Pampanga. The organizers designed a challenging course through the quarried lahar, featuring dips, climbs, and river crossings that alternated

between water, mud, rocks, and sandy surfaces—ideal for highlighting the Bronco’s prowess. This rigorous testing ground was the perfect setting to demonstrate what the Bronco can handle, mimicking the kind of rugged terrain that off-road enthusiasts seek out.

At first glance, the Bronco exudes a commanding presence. Its muscular build and massive 35-inch Mud-Terrain tires signal its readiness to tackle tough terrains. The overall design is both aesthetically pleasing and functional, with every aspect tailored for offroad performance. The ability to remove the roof and doors transforms the Bronco into an

open-air adventure vehicle, further showcasing its versatility. The high-clearance suspension and fender flares enhance its offroad capabilities by facilitating smoother navigation over uneven surfaces while protecting the vehicle from debris.

Inside the cabin, the design

is a harmonious blend of practicality and modernity. The powered seats offer a high level of comfort, and the ruggedlooking knobs and features are packed with advanced technology. This combination of comfort and tech ensures that the Bronco is as enjoyable to drive on long road trips as it is on off-road adventures.

The Bronco’s Advanced 4x4 with On-Demand Engagement system underpins its capability, intelligently distributing power to all wheels to enhance traction and stability. The G.O.A.T. Modes (Goes Over Any Type of Terrain) allow drivers to adjust settings for various off-road conditions, whether traversing mud, sand,

or rocky terrain.

Most of the Bronco’s controls are conveniently centralized, whether on the dashboard or the center console. The G.O.A.T. Modes rotary switch can be found behind the gear lever in the center console. Additionally, the buttons for the windows and door locks, along with the Hero Switches that manage differential locks and stability, are also centrally located. This design not only complements the vehicle’s removable roof and doors but also ensures that the navigator or passengers can easily access the controls when necessary. Equipped with numerous cameras and a large touchscreen, the Bronco ensures that drivers have a 360-degree view of the vehicle. This eliminates guesswork by providing clear views of the terrain and obstacles, enhancing both safety and confidence during off-road excursions. This was particularly useful when navigating

steep inclines or crossing embankments with substantial drops. The technology package also includes a premium sound system and navigation features, making it a well-rounded vehicle for any journey.

The High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension (HOSS) System, coupled with position-sensitive BILSTEIN Shock Absorbers, ensures stability at high speeds and precision at lower speeds, making rough terrains more manageable. Complementing this setup is the 4.7 Final Drive Ratio with Electronic-locking Front and Rear Axle, maximizing grip and torque regardless of the driving environment. This setup allows the Bronco to handle everything from rock crawling to high-speed desert runs with equal ease.

One standout feature of the Bronco’s capabilities is the Trail Turn Assist. Despite the unpleasant mechanical/electrical noise it makes (reminiscent of something breaking), this feature performs exceptionally well, albeit only on loose surfaces. By applying the brakes to the inside rear wheel at low speeds, the Trail Turn Assist effectively tightens the turning radius of the Bronco, enabling it to pivot its rear end and eliminate the necessity for three or more point turns when navigating tight spots. This makes maneuvering

THE GAC M6 PRO

COMFORT AND INNOVATION IN ONE RIDE

The GAC M6 Pro is making a significant impact on the Philippine automotive market, and it’s easy to see why. This multipurpose vehicle (MPV) blends comfort with advanced driverassistance systems (ADAS), setting it apart in a competitive segment. After taking the M6 Pro for a test drive, we discovered what makes it an excellent choice for families and tech-savvy drivers alike.

Comfort and Spaciousness

From the moment you step into the GAC M6 Pro, it’s clear that comfort is a top priority. The 7-seater’s spacious interior is thoughtfully designed to accommodate families and groups, providing ample legroom and headroom across all three rows. The seats are plush and supportive, upholstered in high-quality materials (leather for the high-end variant) that enhance the overall sense of luxury. The ergonomic design ensures that passengers remain comfortable

even on long journeys, reducing fatigue and enhancing the overall travel experience.

A standout feature is the adjustable seating configuration. The second-row captain’s chairs can be easily adjusted to create more cargo space, while the third-row seats fold flat into the floor, offering flexibility for various passenger and cargo needs. This adaptability makes the M6 Pro ideal for a range of uses, from daily commutes to family vacations. The rear doors open wide, making ingress and egress effortless, which is particularly useful when loading or unloading children or bulky items.

Climate control in the GAC M6 Pro is equally impressive, with a multi-zone system ensuring all passengers can enjoy their preferred temperature. The advanced climate control system distributes air evenly throughout the cabin, ensuring that everyone stays comfortable regardless of the weather outside. Whether you’re on a short city drive or a long

road trip, the GAC M6 Pro ensures that everyone on board remains comfortable and relaxed.

Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS)

The GAC M6 Pro excels in advanced driver-assistance systems, prioritizing safety and convenience with a suite of features that elevate the driving experience. These technologies not only make driving easier but also significantly enhance safety by preventing accidents and reducing driver fatigue.

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC): This system maintains a set speed

while automatically adjusting the distance from the vehicle ahead, ensuring a smooth and safe driving experience on highways and busy roads. It reduces the need for constant speed adjustments, allowing the driver to focus more on steering and road conditions.

Lane Keeping Assist (LKA):

The LKA system helps prevent unintentional lane departures by gently steering the vehicle back into its lane if it detects drifting without the use of turn signals. This feature is particularly useful on long highway drives, where maintaining lane discipline can become

challenging.

Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM): With sensors strategically placed around the vehicle, the BSM system alerts drivers to the presence of vehicles in their blind spots, significantly reducing the risk of collisions during lane changes. This feature enhances safety, especially in heavy traffic conditions.

Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB): This life-saving feature detects potential collisions with other vehicles or pedestrians and applies the brakes automatically if the driver does not respond in time, helping to mitigate or avoid accidents. AEB is crucial in preventing rear-end collisions and other common types of accidents.

360-Degree Camera System: Parking and maneuvering in tight spaces become a breeze with the 360-degree camera system, which provides a bird’s-eye view of the vehicle’s surroundings, enhancing safety and convenience. This system is invaluable in urban environments where parking space is often limited.

Performance and Efficiency

The GAC M6 Pro is powered by a 1.5TGDI engine paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (7WDCT), offering a balance of performance and efficiency. This combination ensures that the M6 Pro delivers responsive acceleration and smooth gear shifts, enhancing the driving experience. The engine’s turbocharged technology provides ample power for both city driving and highway cruising, while the transmission optimizes fuel efficiency, making the M6 Pro economical to run.

Design and Aesthetics

The GAC M6 Pro features a modern and sleek design that stands out in the MPV segment. Its bold front grille, sharp LED headlights, and aerodynamic lines give it a commanding road presence. The vehicle’s exterior design is not just about aesthetics; it’s also functional.

The aerodynamic shape reduces wind resistance, improving fuel efficiency and reducing noise at high speeds. The high-quality paint finish and attention to detail in the exterior design reflect GAC’s commitment to quality and craftsmanship.

Interior Technology and Connectivity

Inside, the GAC M6 Pro is equipped with a state-of-the-art infotainment system that includes a large touchscreen display, smartphone integration, and voice control features. This system keeps drivers and passengers connected and entertained throughout the journey. The intuitive interface is easy to use, and the system supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing seamless integration with smartphones for navigation, music, and communication.

The M6 Pro also includes multiple USB ports and wireless charging capabilities, ensuring that all devices remain powered during trips. The high-quality audio system delivers crisp and clear sound, enhancing the overall

travel experience. Whether you’re listening to your favorite music or navigating using GPS, the M6 Pro’s infotainment system ensures that you stay connected and entertained.

Safety Features

Beyond its advanced driverassistance systems, the GAC M6 Pro is equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety features, including multiple airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic stability control (ESC), and traction control system (TCS). These features work together to provide maximum protection for all occupants. The vehicle’s robust construction and advanced safety technologies have earned it high safety ratings, giving drivers peace of mind.

Pricing and Variants

The base model GAC M6 Pro 1.5TGDI 7WDCT GS, which lacks ADAS and a sunroof, is priced at P1.23 million. The top-of-the-line GAC M6 Pro 1.5TGDI 7WDCT GL, equipped with the full suite of ADAS features, is priced at P1.598 million. These price points make the M6 Pro

competitive in the MPV segment, offering excellent value for money given its range of features and capabilities.

The GAC M6 Pro is an excellent option for those seeking a vehicle that combines comfort and cuttingedge technology. Its spacious and luxurious interior ensures a comfortable ride for all passengers, while the comprehensive ADAS suite provides peace of mind and enhances driving convenience. BMW Motorrad has expanded its heritageinspired lineup with the introduction of the BMW R 12 nineT and R 12 models. These new additions blend timeless design elements with advanced technology, promising riders a unique and exhilarating experience on the road.

The R 12 nineT is designed as a classic roadster, ideal for making a bold impression in urban environments while delivering dynamic performance on winding country roads. On the other hand, the R 12 embodies a relaxed cruising attitude, capturing the essence of “The Spirit of Easy” with its laid-back and cool demeanor.

Building on the success of the R nineT series launched in 2013, the new R 12 nineT carries forward the ethos of “The Spirit of nineT.” It maintains the iconic look, timeless appeal, and extensive customization options of its predecessor, merging classic motorcycle design with

modern features and exceptional craftsmanship.

Both the R 12 nineT and R 12 models are powered by BMW Motorrad’s legendary two-cylinder boxer engine with a propeller shaft drive, a hallmark of the brand’s century-long legacy. The redesigned airbox and Twin Pipe exhaust system with a reverse cone design add a touch of classic sportiness to these models.

A notable innovation in these models is the introduction of a one-piece tubular bridge steel spaceframe, which departs from the design of the previous R nineT series. This new frame reduces weight and simplifies the design, giving the R 12 models a cleaner and more classic appearance. The bolted-on rear frame, also constructed from tubular steel, enhances the overall aesthetic appeal of the bikes.

The R 12 nineT is equipped with classic round instruments, a USB-C port, and a 12V socket as standard, with the option for a digital display. Both models offer extensive customization options, allowing riders to tailor their bikes to their preferences with ex-works accessories from BMW Motorrad.

the iconic “Toaster Tanks” from the 1970s. Riders can choose from three attractive color options to make a stylish statement on the road.
