From the Desk of Commissioner
Maribel Gomez Cordero I want to start by wishing each one of you a very warm and Happy July 4th to all the residents of District 4. This year, we thankfully get to experience a safer and social Independence Day, so I wish you enjoy the most memorable celebrations with your loved ones. My thoughts and prayers are with those who continue to fight for our freedom near and far. The #IGotMyShot mobile vaccination trailer continues to visit neighborhoods and businesses throughout Orange County with no appointments needed. Both Pfizer and the Johnson & Johnson vaccines will be offered for individuals 12+ while supplies last. If you received your first dose of Pfizer at a different location, you can receive your second dose at the #IGotMyShot mobile vaccination trailer (bring your vaccination card). Where will the #IGotMyShot mobile vaccination trailer be next? Check out ocfl.net/VaccineSites for more information.
Barnett Park testing and vaccination services have been extended to July 31. Remember that transportation options for individuals 60+ are being provided by LYNX. As a county, we are doing a great job of being vaccinated. We are now over 50% of the way, let’s continue to spread the word! Orange County has received $135 million from the federal government for the American Rescue Plan. The expenditure categories are business assistance, social & community services, public health & safety, infrastructure opportunities and revenue recovery investments. Highlights include $41 million for social and community service programs, $7 million for adult and youth mental health programs, and a much-needed $32 million for business assistance. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, or if you would like to receive my newsletter, you can email me at district4@ocfl.net or call my office at 407-836-5881.
