Why is water so enchanting? We are all magnetized by water not only because we need it to survive but because there is a pull we get when we are around it. This pull allows us to dream and puts us in a state of piece. This issue depicts the magnetic pull and focuses on the piece it brings to us; the piece that only exists through the self devotion and beauty of ART. How many times do we close our eyes and dream of the ocean? Do we not get into a coma of piece? For that split second are we not content? Water is crucial to our existence and an inspiration to us all. We cannot live with out it and we would not have it any other way. THE SPIRIT OF
GALATEA  by Joel Janse van Vuuren Photography & Retouching: Ilse Moore Art Director and Model: Elsa Bleda Makeup Artist: Liezl Zene Oberholzer Lighting: Panavision, Panalux Designer Joel Janse van Vuuren collaborated with South African underwater photographer Ilse Moore and Turkish model and creative director Elsa Bleda to present The Spirit of Galatea. This underwater shoot captures the essence of the Greek sea nymph legend and explores the beauty and movement of fashion below the surface. The signature hand dyed silk dresses swirl around the model embracing her body. These dresses were influenced by the 19th Century, a period of discovery and invention. It saw the birth of cinema, photography and the Belle Epoque. Joel Janse van Vuuren is a high fashion luxury fashion brand based in Johannesburg, South Africa. This underwater shoot captures the shapes of Joel Janse van Vuuren's paintblot design process.

Underwater ART! It’s always a beautiful sight when artists go full throttle on their artistic expressions. Jason de Caires Taylor created these sculptures with the intentions of having them submerged underwater and watching the slow, silent evolution as the become part of the sea.
