Direct beach access!

Ditch the tablet and the mobile phone and burn off some energy in the fresh air - there’s plenty of options...

One of the finest sandy beaches right on your doorstep, what more could you want? The walk down to the beach is via steep sand dunes or a set of steps located below the pool and Sands Bistro, car parking is also available. Please note: Access to the beach may not be suitable for those with mobility issues. The beach is life guarded by the RNLI usually between Whitsunday weekend and the August bank holiday. The lifeguards will fly flags when on duty and will designate areas for swimming and for surfing. Please obey the lifeguards at all times.

The sand dunes The dunes are an important site of ‘special scientific interest’ because of the flora and fauna that is found on them. They are home to a huge variety of wildlife including rabbits as well as adders, one of England’s few poisonous snakes.

Natural hazards Please take care on the dunes to look out for adders which can be identified by small diamond pattern on their backs. On hot days they like to sunbathe and can bite if disturbed. If walking through the dunes make plenty of noise to alert them and they will usually retreat. If bitten, healthy adults and lost children will normally only experience a painful sting. As with many stings and bites, reactions can vary and if swelling occurs please seek medical advice. Rabbit holes and slippery grass are the cause of accidents every year so please tread carefully. Remember that these are not proper pathways and a little extra care will avoid an unwanted injury. Weaver fish lie under the sand particularly at low tide. They have a sharp, poisonous spine and their sting can be painful. Lifeguards will usually treat by dipping the area in water as hot as you can bear. If there are any more serious reactions, please seek medical advice.

Make a

splash Our indoor heated swimming pool offers the perfect way to spend time with the whole family all together, no matter the weather! Pool Rules Everyone wants to have a good time, but we ask you to stick to three rules in the interest of others safety. No diving, no running and no photography.
