And that is still true today!
Yes, that precious metal known as gold is not only here to stay but has been forever . . . and will be with us forever . . . as a treasured part of your investment portfolio.
Precious metals make quality acquisitions because you can leverage them as a hedge against inflation, deflation and currency devaluation, reducing the volatility of your portfolio. It sounds simple, but is a fact that could make a substantial impact on your earned wealth.
Before you turn to gold and silver or make any decisions about diversifying your portfolio, we want you to be fully educated about your acquisition options.
A government or other governing body is the only organization with the power to guarantee the purity of a gold or other precious metal coins; this is the same entity that’s responsible for the minting process. Coins are minted either for investment or numismatic (coin-collecting) value and are sold in the form of gold, silver or platinum. Knowing the different types of coins will help guide your specific Cole Grade Road is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization. Investing in gold and silver can be easy, fun and profitable. Anyone can learn how to start buying gold and silver as a physical store of wealth. Because gold and silver hold its value, these precious metals are both a beautiful and solid longterm acquisition.
However, like any activity, the process of buying, selling and holding gold and silver involves certain nuances that are important to understand. For example, when you are armed with a baseline of knowledge about gold market trends, different ways to buy gold and silver, values of gold and silver coins and more, you will be a more informed investor.
The types of precious metals that are most popular include gold, silver, platinum and palladium.
Precious metals have such value in so many different industries that they are traded regularly on the world’s commodities markets.
As investors continue the task of rebalancing their portfolios many wonder whether they should increase their physical holdings of gold and other precious metals. A dive into the gold price forecast will reveal that there are a lot of reasons to be bullish on the yellow metal. used to determine the price of gold.
Significant influences on gold price fluctuations include inflation, rumors of war . . ,. times of crisis.
Spot price. What is it? How is it set? By whom?
The “spot” price of gold is based on the price of one troy ounce of gold. It is the price at any given moment for gold on international exchanges.
Spot usually refers to the “bid” price you see listed—which is the price most recently quoted in the market that buyers are willing to purchase at. This is usually lower than the “ask” price sellers are currently seeking.
The spot price is quoted in US dollars, since gold is universally priced in US dollars in markets around the world.
The London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) also provides a “fix” price twice per day (during trading days). The fix price is a benchmark for institutions, producers, and other large market participants to price contracts. Retail customers like you and I typically cannot buy and sell based on the fix price, only the spot price. ticipating should visit oceansidemarketvendor.com for more information and applications.

Cruisin’ Grand is Back!
Tomorrow, Friday, June 18th, is the day many area residents have been waiting for as Cruisin’ Grand returns to Escondido.
Steve Waldron, founder and the Grand Guru of Cruisin’ Grand thinks it will be one of the largest turnouts ever, based on the telephone traffic he’s received as well as inquiries from family and friends.
For the first three weeks of Cruisin’ Grand Grand Avenue will be closed between Escondido Blvd. and Ivy; Maple, Kalmia and Juniper will be closed from Second to Valley Parkway. The scene will be similar to the Escondido Street Fair in that Grand Avenue will become, essentially, a pedestrian mall. It will be more of a static display and car show rather than the traditional cruising. Many of the cars will be displayed on side streets as well.
Downtown Escondido is expected to be full of cars and spectators tomorrow (Friday) night.
Lori Holt Pfeiler Named CEO of Building Industry Association
Former Escondido Mayor and longtime councilmember Lori Holt Pfeiler has been named CEO for the Building Industry Association of San Diego County.
Pfeiler, who has served for nine years as CEO of the San Diego affiliate of Habitat for Humanity, will assume her office in July.
Pfeilers has experience in obtaining building permits for housing of all types - one of many roles she filled as CEO for Habitat for Humanity. She has worked with the building trades over the years both as an elected official as well as a chair of the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG_) and also as chair for the San Diego Region Partners for Home ownership.
She sees her primary mission as creating thousands of homes in the San Diego County community at all income levels, improving the supply of housing, and seeking to increase efficiency in the building process. She sees a need to focus on homes for middle income families. “We’ve been building to serve both high end home owners as well as low income families . . . but the middle level homes have been neglected. We hope to change that.” She does not want to see an exodus of families out of San Diego County because of unaffordable housing.
Pfeiler is known for having established close working relationships with organizations at many levels, city, county, and non-profit agencies. She has often acted as mediator between opposing forces within the buildiing industry, often bringing together the two forces to reach an amicable settlement.
Man About Town
There is, or should be, a special place in Hell for people who abuse dogs.
I know of two dogs that loving people have adopted that had been terribly abused.
One, which Evelyn is caring for while her son is off on holiday to Bali, was so abused it was shown on TV in LA along with a story of why it had a hard time getting adopted because he looked so rough. Marty, bless his heart, drove up to LA and adopted the dog, Walter. Quivering, frightened, scruffy hair, it was an emotional and physical mess. Marty had at least six of its teeth pulled and other dental work done. Thousands of dollars. And Marty is not a wealthy man. At least not in terms of money. He took Walter to the groomers and he looks about 200% better now . . but he is still wary of humans.

Yesterday I gently put my hand out to him and let him sniff me to determine that I was not going to harm him. I then slowly moved my hand up to pet him on his head . . . and he flinched. "Someone has hit this dog. Repeatedly," I told Evelyn.
It makes my blood boil when I see dogs that have been abused. I am persuaded that anyone that abuses dogs should be taken out and shot.
Turns out Walter is about 15 years old so we don't know how many years he has left . . but at least his final years will be among people who love and care for dogs and shower them with warmth and affection.
The other dog, Bubba, is a big ol' Pit Bull. He, too had been abused. He lost or damaged many of his teeth as he would try to bite through metal fencing to escape his misery . - he was beaten, not fed properly, and, at one point, managed to escape his abusive owners only to be attacked by a pack of coyotes who damn near killed him.
Aaron, his new daddy, adopted Bubba and trained him lovingly - to the point that Bubba, a big ol' Pittie, is the most affectionate dog you could ever find. He, too, will enjoy his final years with someone who loves and cares for him. continue to spread . . . so he's gonna lose Bubba at some point. But until that time comes . . . Bubba will know great love and affection.
I just cannot understand how a member of the human race could even think of harming a dog let alone actually taking action to harm a dog.
Dog abusers are all no good bastards and sonsabitches and deserve to have a bullet put right into the cold, cold heart.
End of rant. For now. ••••
Fireworks Return to Escondido for the 4th of July
The City of Escondido has announced it is bringing fireworks back to celebrate Independence Day on July 4th. While we will not have our traditional large-scale event, there will be a spectacular fireworks show at 9 p.m.

Letters to the Editor
Great Cover Story!
Tom Morrow's cover story is brilliant, insightful, provocative news reporting! A powerful tour de force!
Geoffrey Lane, San Diego North County.
The Professor Says . . .
A university professor from my alma mater at SDSU told me after reading a 'link' to Tom Morrow's cover story: "Mr. Tom Morrow's feature story re: the Klan (10 June 2021 in Escondido's "The Paper") was so exquisitely researched and compiled and presented, that it was worthy of being published in The New Yorker or The Washington Post." I agree.
/s/ Friedrich Gomez
More Kudos . .
Mr. Tom Morrow, thank you for your powerful, eye-opening cover story! First-class reporting! --
Pat Flannigan, North Inland & Coastal San Diego County.
And Still more . . .
Tom Morrow's masterpiece cover story "Rise & Fall of the Klan" in The Paper (June 10) reveals the depth and power of prose.
Even my grandchildren (who are in their mid to late 20s) are reading & discussing it! We've known of Mr. Morrow for years, even before the North County Times. He's a living legend, tv producer for KOCT-TV, talented trumpeter & singer for Big Bands (like Ray Mahoney's Society Orchestra), charity fundraiser (even helped raise funds for a family of a U. S. Marine killed in Iraq), & was bestowed the title of "Mr. Oceanside" by the Mayor and Council of Oceanside (in 2009) & one of the few writers in the U. S. who wrote 7 newspaper columns per week! Plus, he's a U. S. veteran in defense of America!
With Gratitude,
Arlene Ann Tibbets Family & Friends, Escondido, Poway, & San Marcos, CA
