LIMES AND COPPERFIELD ESTATE
EQUANS maintains an Approved Supplier Database of subcontractors and suppliers. Our database contains the details of over 5,000 tried and tested subcontractors across the UK covering all trades, enabling us to procure local supply chain on our contracts. Fig. 15 illustrates the vast number of supply chain located in the Epping district and counties of Essex and neighbouring Hertfordshire that are approved on our database.
When tendering for a new contract, we actively seek to use SMEs/local suppliers where possible. We do this by filtering no recorded performance issues), by location and inviting those that specialise in the trades relevant to the contract that are an SME or are local to submit a tender for the works. All supply chain tenders are then evaluated, with the most economically advantageous tender selected.
FIG.16 is the email advert sent out to SMEs/local suppliers located in the areas of Norfolk Norwich, Wisbech, Pelerborough and Cambridge to attract local parners for our 20 year major works contract with Glarion. As COVID-19 prevented our usual approach of holding the event locally in person, we held the evant virtually over Zoom. We metwith 25 organisations, with 15 appling to our database and five going on to work with us
ACTIVELY SEEKING TO USE SMES/LOCAL SUPPLIERS:

We do this by filtering companies approved on our database that hold a 'Green' status (meaning they continue to pass our compliance checks and have no recorded performance issues), by location and inviting those that specialise in the trades relevant to the contract that are an SME or are local to submit a tender for the works. All supply chain tenders are then evaluated, with the most economically advantageous tender selected.
In addition, we use Meet the Buyer events to attract new SMEs/local suppliers to work for us. As Constructionline Gold members, we participate in their Meet the Buyer events/Supplier Engle Engagement Days to encourage new entrants to join our 26 database. These are held in key locations across the UK and we attend these when we identify a need to increase local suppliers in a specific region. In addition, we partner with
Essex-based Tiger Supplies has been indirectly supporting our business for many years. Based in Braintree, they are our main supplier for PPE. safety signage, workwear, janitorial items and site sundries. They will provide these items for our site and staff working on the Limes and Copperfield Estate project.
