DUBAI CHARITY FOUNDER AWARDED TWO WORLD RECORDS •Maria Conceicao earns double Guiness World Record after conquering the 777 Ultramarathon Challenge •Maria Cristina Foundation calls for more partners to support work for needy children in Bangladesh By Qadeer Ahmad Siddiqui Dubai UAE: ubai-based charity founder Maria Conceicao has receiv ed the official confir mation for her double world record succes s from Guinn e s s World Records after conquering the 777 Ultramarathon Challenge, a seven fulld i s t a n c e 5 0 k m ultramarathon that was run on each of the seven continents within seven weeks. Maria completed the challenge in six weeks. She crossed the line of the final ultramarathon in South Africa together with her race colleague Ziyad Rahim, who gained the same record in the male category. Maria’s second record was the fastest aggregate time t o c o m p l e t e a n ultramarathon on seven continents.Maria completed the challenge for her charity, the Maria Cristina Foundation (MCF), which helps educate slum children in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and free them from poverty. The first Portugese woman and third national to summit Mount Everest, Maria has taken a number of other endurance challenges in the past, all aimed at raising

D

awareness and funds for the organisation. MCF currently supports over 200 children from the slums of Dhaka, Bangladesh, in primary, secondary and college education programs. The group sends children with the most promising potential to schools in Dhaka that provide higher quality and which could give the

children the best possible opportunities to break out of poverty. The 777 Ultramarathon Challenge has certainly raised awareness of the Foundation and its work, but the charity remains in urgent need of funds to help more children stay in school and c o n t i n u e t h e i r education.Appealing for help in supporting the

group’s cause, Maria said:The Foundation is hugely grateful for donations from g e n e r o u s individuals who have been our saviors, but we really need more corporate partners to support our work. There are a lot of companies who can be potential partners, and we appeal to them to consider working with us as part of their CSR program. We know that many are one with us in believing that education is the best way to e r a d i c a t e p o v e r t y. Education empowers children with the hope and tool to dream bigger and achieve more, not only for themselves but for their families a n d t h e communities they live in. MCF has the experience and knowledge required to provide the maximum social impact from any financial support from a partner, so we do hope you consider placing your trust in us.A company can contribute to the work of MCF in a number of ways. Support can be in the form of financial donations, which would contribute generally to the education of the 200 children currently in their programs, or

they can specify to sponsor a number of children under sponsorship and receive regular reports of their progress.Alternatively a company can contribute to the Foundation a small percentage of revenue of each product or service sold. For instance, MCF partner Right Bite, a pioneer in customised healthy meal deliveries, use this method, wherein a portion of Right Bite’s healthy meal plan packages’ sales revenue go to MCF. Another method is where customers are given an option to pay a small amount extra for each purchase, which enables customers to contribute to the cause themselves. MCF are currently developing such a scheme with Fraiche Café in JLT.For those companies with a taste for adventure, there is an opportunity to be directly involved with supporting a challenge. Maria has not one but two new challenges in preparation. After climbing Everest and running a marathon on each of seven continents, they are sure to grab headlines for all involved! For partnership and donation opportunities.

IMPROVED ECONOMIC CONDITIONS FUELLING CONFIDENCE IN BAHRAIN’S RESIDENTIAL MARKET By Qadeer Ahmad Siddiqui Dubai UAE: ational stability and improved economic conditions are helping to drive growth in Bahrain’s residential property market, according to the latest research from international real estate c o n s u l t a n c y , Cluttons.According to Cluttons Spring 2014 Residential Market Outlook report, the government’s wide ranging investment programme, which is underpinning job creation, is expected to drive future economic growth. The improving sentiment has helped to lift confidence levels amongst investors and developers, who are making a slow, but steady r e t u r n t o t h e market.Similarly, in the lettings market, the increased stability and job creation is helping to drive both demand and rental value growth. Cluttons reports that average villa rents in areas such as Amwaj Islands have edged upwards to BD 1,450 per month from BD 1,400 per month. This gradual increase in rents has been caused by a depletion in existing stock at Amwaj Islands, due to its popularity amongst the expatriate community. The report also points to rising tenant interest in villas in Saar, with average rents rising by 2.5% in Q1 to BD 1,000 per month, which leaves them 10.8% higher than this time last year, making it the best performing villa submarket over the same period. Saar’s close proximity to schools and its strategic location on the coast makes it an attractive option for families who were previously forced to relocate further inland.Cluttons’ Head of Bahrain, Harry Goodson- Wickes said: “The gradual increase in rents reflects the rising demand for villas in this submarket from families, who are relocating to take

N

advantage of the relatively stagnant rents as national stability levels strengthen, while at the same time upgrading to what they perceive to be higher quality housing.Cluttons’ report also highlights the hydrocarbon sector as a notable generator of jobs and therefore tenants. As multiple sectors continue to expand, the lettings market is expected to benefit from a broadening tenant base. With landlords remaining on the back foot however, Cluttons does not anticipate a rental value surge during 2014.With budgets remaining largely stable, landlords are keen to retain tenants while showing greater flexibility with asking rates. This is expected to further dampen the prospect of any sudden uplift in the performance of the lettings market.Improved economic conditions in Bahrain are also supporting a resurgence in the sales market, where Cluttons has seen a gradual resumption in development and buyer activity. Developers are now returning to the market as confidence returns among investors, with Saudi and Bahraini buyers amongst the most active groups.Goodson- Wickes commented: “With recent increased market activity, off plan sales are picking up once more. For instance, the new 405-unit Fontana Gardens scheme in Juffair was launched in early February and off plan prices currently stand at around BD 900 psm; similar to the rates being achieved in the completed Fontana Towers, highlighting the rising investment appetite, which is being buoyed by the rising confidence in the market”.

RETAILERS WITH LOYALTY PROGRAMS ARE 88% MORE PROFITABLE THAN THOSE WITHOUT: SUMMER PERIOD AN OPPORTUNITY TO REINVIGORATE LOYALTY PROGRAMS AND STAY AHEAD OF THE CURVE UrbanBuz urges retailers to take advantage of summer slow-down by implementing special features to loyalty programs to boost footfall during hot summer months By Qadeer Ahmad Siddiqui Dubai UAE: hile summer is traditionally a slow period in the UAE, Dubai has paid much attention to boosting retail revenues by promotional festivals througho ut the season. M a n y retailers will offer hot deals to attract new customers, making the summer the ideal time to start interesting and fruitful relationships. UrbanBuz, the UAE’s leading customer loyalty platform, believes retailers with agile and dynamic loyalty programs will stay ahead of the curve by reinvigorating their relationships with customers through the introduction of new reward features.Salam Saadeh, Chief Operating Officer of UrbanBuz, said:This summer will provide ample opportunity for shops, salons, spas and cafés to keep customers engaged by structuring offers around schemes such as Dubai Summer Surprises, Ramadan in Dubai and the World Cup. We’re encouraging our partners to keep their programs fresh and relevant. Our platform provides them with features that allow them to easily spice things up, and to increase traffic during slow days or periods. The summer is usually the perfect time for retailers to be proactive and build their in-house marketing infrastructure around a powerful and agile loyalty program.UrbanBuz has identified a number of proven techniques for retailers with loyalty programs to implement in order to stay ahead of the curve. Their focus is on dynamic rewarding to ensure that customers who have shown loyalty to a shop, salon, spa or café benefit accordingly. Tiered rewarding is a feature that helps retailers to treat their customers according to their level of loyalty. It is increasingly recognized that 80% of business volume comes from 20% of customers. Tiered rewarding responds to that trend by offering the best perks and rewards to the most important customers. As outdoor temperatures rise, the summer period is

W

ideally suited to retailers who are providing services and entertainment indoors. This means summer is also a good time to re-attract lapsed customers.Saadeh added:In a highly competitive landscape it’s important for our partners to check on customers they may have lost touch with, and incentivize them to come back. Targeted promotional emails and offers of bonus points and credit are a good idea. The element of surprise is also powerful: re-engaging lost customers with surprise points on their birthday, or

offering surprise gifts on random dates are a fun and appealing way to drive repeat sales. Loyalty programs work best in partnership with strong social media activity, so elevating brand awareness across online channels should be on the in-house agenda too.UrbanBuz emphasizes the importance of focusing resources on retaining existing customers, rather than channeling a large portion of funds into trying to attract new ones. It can cost 5-10 times more to acquire a new customer, and on average a returning customer spends 67% more in store. Of their own loyalty program, powered by UrbanBuz, Dial A Nail this year reported a 22% increase in returning customers, while Bert’s Café has seen an average transaction size increase of 17%. Azur Spa expects their ‘On Wheelz’ homeservice to be a popular choice this summer, and believes revenue growth from that offering will be boosted by increased retention. With their most loyal customers looking to spend more time enjoying themselves indoors, and new customers returning to do the same, UrbanBuz expects revenues to c o n t i n u e t o g r o w. A successful loyalty program that fully leverages the powerful exposure provided by social media and other online channels should, if run efficiently, provide an ever-growing rate of customer retention.

OVER 50 MILLION DIABETES PATIENTS WORLDWIDE WILL FAST DURING RAMADAN Top UAE diabetes doctors warn patients to take appropriate precautions and consult medical professionals ahead of fasting; MSD launches information campaign for diabetes patients By Qadeer Ahmad Siddiqui Dubai UAE: O ne in ten adults in the Middle East currently l i v e s w i t h diabetes”Research shows that more than 50 million patients with diabetes worldwide fast during Ramadan despite guideline recommendations for the management of diabetes during the Holy Month. In the Middle East, the Holy Month of Ramadan is expected to start around 28 June and last until 27 July.Diabetes experts in the region are warning against the potential risks patients will be taking, and are advising them to consult their physician on how best to manage their medical requirements during the Holy Month. As part of its focus on supporting the healthcare considerations of local communities, MSD Gulf will again launch ‘The Facts About Fasting During Ramadan’ information campaign to help diabetes patients to plan their dietary and medical calendars. Dr. Abdulrazzaq Ali Al Madani, Consultant of Endocrinology & Diabetes and President of the Emirates Diabetes Society, said:Fasting and changes to eating patterns carry a high risk for people with type 1 diabetes , as well as patients who experience

severe attacks of hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar) or hyperglycaemia (high blood sugar), and pregnant women with diabetes.” He added:People with type 2 diabetes can fast during Ramadan with little risk, but it is important for the patient to consult his or her doctor before fasting, as it may be necessary to reschedule treatment, whether by tablet or injection, during the month of Ramadan, in order to reduce the risk of hypoglycaemia or hyperglycaemia. Drinking plenty of water during the non-fasting time is important for reducing the risk of dehydration and thrombosis, especially for the elderly. If left untreated, low blood sugar can lead to severe symptoms including loss of consciousness, convulsions or seizures. This is a time when medical professionals need to be very careful about the advice they give to diabetes patients.Dr. Al Madani spoke at the C3 2014 USArab Healthcare Summit, held in New York at the end of April this year. The summit focused on diabetes as a major healthcare concern. During the C3 U.S. Arab Healthcare Summit MSD discussed the latest issues on diabetes with leading

dates we have adhered to the wishes of the majority of competitors, while creating an opportunity whereby we can maximise the entertainment element of each event we stage at Dubai Autodrome. FEW PLACES LEFT ON THE 2014 DUBAI KARTDROME RAMADAN CHALLENGE GRID By Qadeer Ahmad Siddiqui Dubai UAE: The 2014 Dubai Kartdrome Ramadan Challenge is shaping up to be a mighty contest as the country's top SWS karters have signed up for the four round series with only a few places left on the grid for drivers wanting to compete ahead of the first round race on Monday night. This year's edition of the popular night time series features a totally new format aimed to further level the playing field, providing every driver with an equal chance while, encouraging consistency and clean driving in all races, coupled

to some of the most attractive prizes ever offered in this form of kart racing in the UAE. The new format, which has the community buzzing, is

summarised below: • Points will be awarded to the drivers for their finishing results in the random grid heats; • Top 15 drivers from the heats, will automatically qualify for the Grand Final at the end of the evening; • Next 16 drivers (P16 to P31) qualify for the Prefinal; • Top five from the Pre-Final proceed to the Grand Final; • Grand Final will be a race between the top 20 drivers on the night. The series will be run over four rounds, and the driver with the most points will be declared 2014 Kartdrome Ramadan Champion and walk away with the grand prize of a full race weekend in the UAE Rotax Max Championship with the highly rated Energy UAE Kart Team, with equally prestigious Tony Kart offering a similar prize for the best placed Emirati driver.Energy UAE Kart team principal Kevin Day said, "Many drivers currently competing in the UAE Rotax Championship emerged through the ranks of SWS and for that reason we want to reward

successful drivers with a fully fledged experience on the national scene. In this way we create a natural link between serious leisure karting and the UAE Rotax Max Championship where our team has a strong and professional presence.Tony Kart team manager Luigi Gariano explained the reasoning behind their involvement, "One of our targets is to promote motorsport in general and obviously the karting field. We would like to provide an incentive to attract UAE nationals into racing. The biggest percentage of Emirati kart drivers compete in the SWS Series therefore we will reward the best placed UAE driver in the 2014 Dubai Kartdrome Ramadan Challenge with one fully funded race in the 2014-2015 UAE Rotax Championship.Additional prizes up for grabs include: Audi R8 Experiences, Camaro Experiences and Single Seater Experiences to take place at Dubai Autodrome.Furthermore all four rounds of the 2014 Kartdrome Ramadan Challenge count towards the SWS Series world rankings,

FACE TO FACE WITH LUIGI GARIANO RECENTLY APPOINTED TEAM MANAGER TONY KART RACING TEAM UAE By Qadeer Ahmad Siddiqui Dubai UAE: uigi Gariano is a familiar face and a popular figure on the UAE karting scene and was recently appointed team manager Tony Kart Racing Team UAE which will contest the 2014-2015 UAE R o t a x M a x Championship.Gariano has been involved in motorsport for almost for decades, starting with motocross and motorcycle enduros at the age of 13. He grew up in the West Ligurian Riviera (Italy) the hometown of the legendary San Remo Rally which was part of the World Rally Championship and through that was exposed to legends such as Walter Rohrl, Henri Toivonen, Marku Alen, Miki Biasion, Hannu Mikkola, Juha

Cars which in turn opened doors to important contacts which he cherishes to this day.He moved to Dubai in 2005 and takes up the story, When I came to Dubai I was involved as a part of the company which Sponsored JMB Team who were running Maserati MC12 in the FIA GT Championship at Dubai Autodrome with Andrea Bertolini, Karl Wendlinger and Philipp Peter. I had the privilege to follow several races in Europe with the Vitaphone Team and that was really an u n f o r g e t t a b l e experience. But invariably "karting was in the veins" and Gariano started gravitating to the local karting scene where he entered some of the SWS races and started managing teams in the Kartdrome

goal is to provide the best professional service available on the local scene. We are aiming to reduce the gap that still exists between UAE drivers and European drivers by providing a proper plan of growth for the drivers, including professional assistance on all levels, driver coaching and telemetry analysis which will be the real innovation and add value for those who race under the Tony Kart banner. We want our drivers to be ready to face international competition with the right skills and knowledge. They need to rise to those standards starting with our UAE championship. We want them to give proper feedback and to feel the real race competition, thus avoiding any kind of 'culture

Kankkunen and many others. But only at the age of 20 did Gariano 'discover' karting. He explained, "I was very attracted to rally of course, but after some time I understood that I had missed one important step in motorsport: Karting!I was already 20 when I had my first karting experience and only a few races convinced me that my mistake to not start by doing karting was really big and since then I have advised all young drivers to start off with karting.Being Italian it is only natural that Gariano is passionate about Ferrari and in Formula 1 he will back them through thick and thin, and at the moment the mention of the Reds who are under performing in Formula 1 at the moment is met with typical exaggerated Italian g e s t u r e s o f despair.Gariano's motorsport journey continued throughout the eighties and nineties as he embarked on collecting as much experience as he could, attending many big events, helping teams and drivers all over Italy for free. Along the way he gained experience testing Touring

Endurance Championship these included Ocean Rubber Racing Team, UAE Arrows, Dubai Falcons Racing Team and currently is the brains behind the Dubai 5 all Emirati outfit. On 1 May 2014 he was appointed to position of Tony Kart Racing Team UAE team manager where he has been tasked to ensure that one of the most famous karting brands which was used by none other than Michael Schumacher - is successful on the flourishing local karting scene.Tony Kart UAE Racing and Scuderia will be both under my management, two racing teams, within one, will provide different services and packages for drivers of all budgets. Tony Kart top package has the clear target to provide European standard services for drivers who are targeting w i n s a n d h a v e championship ambitions, while the Scuderia package will provide basic services for kart drivers owning any brand of kart who want to be part of our team, revealed Gariano. As for the goals, Gariano was adamant, "Mine and the team's main

shock' or big differences when they venture to race abroad.Gariano, who rates Robert Kubica and Lewis Hamilton highly, is an ardent G i l l e s Vi l l e n e u v e f a n because the late Ferrari driver "never was world champion but he caught the heart of all motorsport supporters and especially the trust of Mr Enzo Ferrari. Unforgettable was his race at Dijon in 1979 against Rene Arnoux. Something that should be shown to all racing drivers. The local Rotax Max karting scene under the auspices of the ATCUAE and Al Ain Karting Club has boomed in recent years and Gariano predicts much of the same in future.UAE is the absolute drawcard for karting in the whole GCC and this is just the beginning in my opinion. The potential of the GCC area is huge, but we all must work to develop more and more in order to reach a professional level comparable the international scene, said the Italian. His opinion on what is the cause of this boom in the UAE is clear, "I believe that it was because of a common effort: organisers, teams, drivers. We all

FOUR PLAYERS REPRIMANDED FOR BREACHING ICC CODE OF CONDUCT ON DAY 4 OF PEPSI ICC WCL DIV. 4 Denmark captain Michael Pedersen reprimanded for slow over rate Two players found to have shown dissent; one found to have acted contrary to the spirit of the game By Qadeer Ahmad Siddiqui Dubai UAE: our players Michael Pedersen and Amjad Khan of Denmark, and Amir Ali and Munis Ansari of Oman have been reprimanded for separate Level 1 breaches of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel (The Code) during their sides’ encounter on day four of Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 4 in Singapore on T u e s d a y. T h e p l a y e r s admitted the offences and accepted the sanctions proposed by match referee Steve Bernard. As such, there was no need for formal hearings. The charges were brought by on-field umpires Ruchira Pallyaguru and Ahmad Shah Durrani, and reserve umpire Allan Haggo.Denmark captain Michael Pedersen was found to have breached Article 2.5.1 of the Code, which relates to slow over rates. Denmark was ruled to be two overs short of its target after time allowances were taken into consideration.Teammate Amjad Khan was found to have breached Article 2.1.8 of the Code, which relates to “where the facts of the alleged incident are not adequately or clearly covered by any of the above offences, conduct that either: (a) is contrary to the spirit of the game; or (b) brings the game into disrepute. The charge

F

against Amjad Khan related to several incidents in the Oman innings, when he acted contrary to the spirit of the game by continuously swearing at the opposition.Oman players Amir Ali and Munis Ansari were both found to have breached Article 2.1.3 of the Code, which relates to “showing dissent at an Umpire’s decision during an International Match. The charge against Amir Ali relates to an incident in the 26th over of the Oman innings, where he obviously delayed leaving the wicket after being given out by the umpire. The charge against Ansari relates to an incident in the second over of the Denmark innings, when Ansari spoke to the umpire in an aggressive manner after an LBW appeal was turned down. All Level 1 breaches for minor over rate offences carry a penalty of the imposition of a fine of up to 10 per cent of the applicable match fee per over short for players, and double that amount for the captain, save that, in accordance with the Code, and in particular the regulations contained therein governing minor over-rate offences, players in International Matches other than men’s Tests, One-Day International Matches and Twenty20 International Matches cannot be given any financial sanctions.

whereby the top ranked UAE drivers at the end of the season will progress to the World Finals. This year's Ramadan Challenge race nights take place on 30 June, 7, 14 and 21 July with driver sign-on at 20.15 pm, followed by first practice at 21.20 pm and the first of four heats scheduled to be flagged off at 21.50, with the Pre-final at 23.10 pm and Grand Final at 23.45 pm.Final word to Kartdrome manager Ryan Trutch,We are anticipating a good turn out and with the revised format it will give drivers a better opportunity for their talent to shine through. A big thank you to all our sponsors of the event whom are continually supporting Kartdrome activities for the good of the sport.

worked to develop karting here in the UAE.Already kids who started off at the Kartdrome, before excelling on the local scene, such as Edward Jones and Tom Bale have proven that they can be highly competitive on the world stage. Currently there are several young drivers set to follow in their footsteps.Of the talent learning the ropes on the local scene Gariano says, "I have seen so many young good drivers and I wish to all of them to develop the right experience, to have the right support in order to show their talent not only in the UAE but also abroad. He advises, "All Micro, Mini and Junior drivers need to believe in themselves and to approach this sport with the right behaviour. Be fair and committed then the results will come.As for the year ahead Gariano is cautiously optimistic, "It will be a crucial year because first of all we will have proper professional teams and that will be an advantage for the organisers to have real support from all of them to increase the level of the championship here in the UAE. Consequently we will have some classes which will be extremely competitive and with that there is a lot to do and that's why as a team manager I am already working hard for the upcoming season. In between his karting involvement, earlier this year, Gariano’s insatiable passion for motorsport saw him take time out to manage Team QMMF at the Dunlop 24 Hours of Dubai in January, and take part as co-driver in the San Remo Rally with Patrick Parmeggiani in March. The 2014-2015 karting season will be an intense affair for the likable Italian who has the big task on his hands, but if his track record and passion for karting is anything to go by - look out for Tony Kart drivers at the sharp end of proceedings next season. So look out for Gariano commanding the ‘troops’ in his distinctive Tony Kart colours.

T h e d a y, staged by the Woestyn Boere Hackers Golf Society a t t h e 1 8 - h o l e championship golf course designed by van der Westhuizen’s fellow South African Ernie Els, was part of an ongoing effort to raise awareness of and aid those suffering with Motor Neuron Disease, the same illness that afflicts the 1995 IRB Rugby World Cup w i n n e r. T h e e v e n t , supported by both The Els Club at Dubai Sports City and the club’s sister course in South Africa, The Els Club Copperleaf, also enjoyed significant corporate backing, as a host of companies lined up to provide prizes and resources. Those companies included Waitrose, EgolfOutlet, Oakley, Beyond the Beach, Kenya Airways – which provided two return tickets to Kenya as a prize – Footjoy, Golf House ME, City Max Hotels, Grand Millennium Hotels, Ocean Basket, Nandos, Mediclinic and Driving Force. The Woestyn Boere Hackers run their own Stableford Series League, and league manager Duayne Baron de Wa a l e x p l a i n e d t h e rationale behind the day at the Troon Golf-managed course, as well as the Hackers’ wider aims. Our society has committed to support the J9 Foundation and its Middle East office in raising awareness of and providing a quality of life to those who suffer from Motor Neuron Disease,he said. The league is played throughout the year and every month we are out there supporting the cause and recruiting new members for the fight against MND.Our latest event at The Els Club was a terrific success and we would like to thank both the club and also the many corporate sponsors who were involved for their support in highlighting this terrible, debilitating disease and the work of Joost van d e r We s t h u i z e n ’s J 9 Foundation. The 43 yearold van der Westhuizen, who won 89 caps for his country and was twice a Currie Cup champion with the Blue Bulls in 1998 and 2002 in addition to his World Cup success, was diagnosed with the condition in 2011.Just over three years later the man who captained his country at the 1999 IRB Rugby World Cup can no longer walk, bathe, dress or feed

himself as he endures an illness that is incurable and almost always fatal. The symbol of the fight is a thumbs-up but he was unable to make the gesture because of the ravages of the illness.MND damages parts of the nervous system, gradually leading to paralysis, speech and swallowing difficulties and b r e a t h i n g problems.Duayne Baron de Waal added: “Joost has created a platform through his J9 Foundation to allow people, companies and friends to support quality of life programmes available to MND sufferers and their families. The J9 logo is a symbol of everyone’s willingness to strive forward and never give in, no matter how hard life’s challenges are, and to fight to the end and show true courage and valour. These were qualities Joost demonstrated time and again on the rugby field and now they are qualities he is showing in fighting MND. He was once quoted as saying that, following his diagnosis, he asked ‘Why me?’ Now he says ‘Why not me?’His positivity in the face of MND is incredible, as is his desire to ensure something good comes from some terrible. This is Joost van der Westhuizen’s Legacy to South Africa and the world, to everyone who watched him as South A f r i c a ’s n u m b e r n i n e J9.Van der Westhuizen is no stranger to the UAE and was in Dubai in 2011 following his diagnosis, where he fulfilled a role as an expert analyst during the OSN’s television coverage of the IRB Rugby World Cup.Commenting on the golf day in support of the J9 Foundation, General Manager of The Els Club Chris Brown said: “We are delighted to be supporting such a wonderful cause and it was our pleasure to host a fantastic day at The Els Club at Dubai Sports City, not only out on the course but also in The Clubhouse. It just feels right for The Els Club to be backing the J9 Foundation, not least because the man whose name our club bears, multiple major winner Ernie Els is, like Joost, a South African sporting icon.We are also lending our support on an ongoing basis to Ernie’s Els for Autism project aimed at establishing a ‘Center of Excellence’ in dealing with that disorder, for which there is also no known cure.We are well-equipped to host days such as the one that took place for the J9 Foundation thanks not only to our 18-hole championship course but also because of our extensive off-course facilities with multiple dining options including The Big Easy Bar and Grill and the 261 Restaurant. The Els Club will continue to support causes that resonate with our members and add value to society,he added.Anyone interested in joining the Woestyn Boere Hackers Golf Society or in finding out more about its efforts and support towards the J9 Foundation can contact Duayne Baron d e W a a l o n woestynboerehackers@g mail.com or visit its website:www.woestynboer ehacker.golfleaguegenius. com.
