Water - we seem to know everything about this element.
The power of water is enormous, sputtering life and sparkling joy. Water can take on many forms; as a melting iceblock, a shimmering fountain, a refreshing drink or a sweeping wave. It is an element of sound or reflector of light. It inspires performers and audiences alike and generates a poetry that reflects the wonder of life. In H2O, you get to experience it in its many forms... it starts with one single drop... Splish, splash - three actors explore the element water...a marvellous expedition. Stadtanzeiger

But when we take a closer look at it, it's full of surprises and it's still a mystery to scientists up to the present day.

Two boys arrive in the same place at the same time, not understanding what they should do. Neither speaks the same language nor understands the other's signals. An Fear Siúil Walking Man Wri!en by Jody O’Neill
Photo: Ger FitzGibbon
Bíonn an Fear Siúil i gcónaí ag siúl, ag brostú ó seo go siúd, gan suaimhneas gan scíth, gan stopadh gan sos. Oibríonn sé go dian mar a athair roimhe i dtreo an úrláir is airde san fhoirgneamh is mó sa chathair ar fad. Ach, lá amháin, dúisíonn an Fear Siúil agus tá mothú aisteach ann istigh. Imíonn sé ar thuras nua, i bhfád ón mbealach abhaile, ar thóir rud éigean nach dtuigeann sé go fóill...Le ceol nuachumtha beo, téimid ar thuras leis an aisteoir go dtí domhan an fhir shiúil. Is beag an domhan é seo ach is mór an scéal.
Walking Man is always on the move, rushing headlong through life, determined to follow in his father's footsteps to the best job on the top floor of the tallest building in the entire city. And when he has done all that, with Walking Woman and little Walking Baby at his side, something doesn't feel quite right. Walking Man must go on an entirely new journey, which takes him far from his way back home. Directed by Síle Ní Bhroin ...subtlety and sophistication...a production of magic and wonder. Catch Me Photo: Jym Daly
Even in the air, the chase is on.
This dark and thrilling retelling of the classic fairy tale is a sophisticated and modern take on Red Riding Hood, with an aerial circus spin. Full of Fidget Feet's trademark playfulness, Catch Me is a stunning mix of aerial feats and theatre, swinging high above the audience in a forest of rope. Using an original score and visual projections that are mixed like a painting and come alive around the performers, no two shows can ever be the same. A pint-sized Cirque du Soleil originating from Donegal, Fidget Feet Aerial Dance Theatre is an internationally renowned company that is one of Ireland's own. ...there is lots of time to laugh out loud, moments also to leave your heart in your mouth... this was a show with a difference. Jason and the Argonauts
After being banished as a baby, our wannabe hero returns to claim his rightful throne and make some big changes. But, in ancient times, nothing's that straightforward. Jason and his crew must sail on The Argo to the other side of the world, find the Golden Fleece and bring it back, in order to unite his people again. As if that wasn't difficult enough, the odd monster, sleeping dragon and clashing rock endeavour to ruin his trip and spice things up on this most fantastic of journeys! For everyone 9 and beyond.

Patricia Byrne Brochure Ar!st 2012
We are delighted to present the stunning work of local artist Patricia Byrne. Originally from Detroit, Patricia came to Ireland to study Zoology. Her work often combines the eye of a scientist with the soul of an artist. Her images are an amazing blast of rich colour that are at once uplifting and refreshing. Her paintings of Galway are visions of the vibrant city we love. She lives in Galway by the sea with her husband, three children, Paws the dog and Trixie the cat, and she has a great studio, called Bluefrog Studio, where she paints and holds art classes for children. SYNC
Exhibition | Visual Arts | Ireland
SYNC features new work from three Irish artists, exploring how to engage and tell stories with children and people in the gallery space. Elmarie Collins, Sarah O'Brien and Daniel Greaney have been mentored by teachers, children and young people in Abalta School in Galway city. The focus on building this exhibition is on interaction and engagement with how artworks are conceived as well as the finished pieces. This multi-sensory exhibition looks at different works created by the three artists. They begin with drawing and use installation and site responsive interventions to synchronise ideas, materials and audience. John Borstel
In line with our policy on access to and development of the arts, we present Professional Development Opportunities for Artists, Writers and Educators.
Cri!cal Response Process John Borstel
In use for over twenty years, art makers, educators, scientists, theatre company administrators, dance departments, orchestras, science centres, museums and beyond have embraced the Critical Response Process. The Process deepens dialogue between makers and audiences; it enhances learning between teachers and students. It has proven valuable for all kinds of creative endeavours, work situations, and collaborative relationships within and beyond the arts, from kindergartens to corporations. John Borstel’s role with the Dance Exchange encompasses functions in documentation, dissemination, and dialogue. Co-author (with Liz Lerman) of the book Liz Lerman’s Critical Response Process, he has led training sessions in this distinctive process internationally and throughtout the USA at conferences, universities, and arts organizations.
