Home. A place where me is just me. A place to live and share experiences; to eat, sleep, take a bath. A home to explore and invent, a place that changes as I change, a place to leave and a place to return to. ‘Casa’ tells the surreal story of a grown-up and a child who meet and start to build a story, a structure, a roof, a home…

Little Nutbrown Hare loves Big Nutbrown Hare as far as he can reach and as high as he can hop. But Big Nutbrown Hare loves him as far as his long arms can reach and as high as his strong legs can hop. And so it continues… Based on the award-winning classic by author Sam McBratney and illustrator Anita Jeram, this endearing puppet show brings these beloved characters to life in a stunning production, together with Jeram’s touching ‘I Love My Little Storybook’, celebrating the joy of reading through a whimsical menagerie of animals and imaginary creatures. The Wolf & Peter Prokofiev’s ‘Peter and the Wolf’ is one of the most famous pieces of music ever written. The awardwinning CoisCéim Dance Theatre takes this timeless story of courage and imagination as inspiration for this world premiere at Baboró. Here the story is told through the eyes of Wolf. Filled with dance and live music, this fun and richly theatrical production by David Bolger gives life to a Bird, Cat, Duck, Boy, and of course a Wolf in a highly energetic new work. The extraordinary pianist Conor Linehan will play live on stage as ‘The Wolf and Peter’ takes children and their families on a thrilling adventure to explore and discover contemporary dance and performance at its best.

BABORÓ NOTES: We in Galway are delighted to host the world premiére of CoisCéim’s first dance piece for children, inspired by a classic tale that will appeal to the whole family.

(By Hand)

A Mano is the story of a small character with a great desire to escape from his newfound reality. It is a love story; a story about small failures, a potter’s wheel, a cup that breathes, two people with great enthusiasm, a tiny pottery workshop and four hands that play. This story is told in a small format with a serious purpose: to touch you. ‘El Patio Teatro have succeeded, like the potter, in creating something really special from almost nothing.’ The Irish Times 10 BOX OFFICE PH: +353 91 569 777

BABORÓ NOTES: This charming, highly inventive and powerful piece is taking the world by storm; be sure not to miss it in Galway. It packs quite a punch for one so small.

Me, Michael The Abbey Theatre Community and Education programme is proud to present the second in the Priming the Canon series, ‘Me, Michael’. Priming the Canon introduces classic Irish plays to a younger audience through the power of live performance. ‘Me, Michael’ is an engaging retelling of Brian Friel’s ‘Dancing at Lughnasa’ through the character of a young boy, Michael Evans. It explores the magic of an imaginative child growing up without a father in 1930s Donegal. By sharing his family story, Michael finds a new strength in dealing with prejudice.

Up to Speed

‘Up to Speed brings humour, fine acting skills and some clever ideas to a touching story.’ Edinburgh Guide 14 BOX OFFICE PH: +353 91 569 777

BABORÓ NOTES: This is a good story, plain and simple but oh so familiar. Presented with wit and imagination and plenty of heart. Enjoy.

BABORÓ NOTES: The Abbey Theatre follows ‘Me, Mollser’ with an exhilarating tale which brings another modern classic to life.

Barnaby and Jade are complete opposites. When they are asked to give a science presentation together in school, neither could have ever imagined the journey it might take them on. A journey through memories of the past, to the very limits of their friendship, and even perhaps through the fabric of time… ‘Up to Speed’ is a funny, playful and poignant story about what it’s like to be different, about the power of friendship and the importance of being yourself.
