JUICE PULP DOUBLE CHOCOLATE CHIP MUFFINS INGREDIENTS 2 very ripe bananas, mashed 1 cup rice milk, almond milk, oat milk, or water with 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar 3/4 cup vegan butter, melted 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 cup coconut sugar or brown sugar, or 1 cup maple syrup 1 1/2 cups white rice flour

1 1/2 cups garbanzo bean flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup juice pulp (can be from any juice!) or 1 cup grated zucchini 1 cup dark chocolate chips 1/2 100% unsweetened cocoa powder Optional: 2 tablespoons espresso or cold brew concentrate

INSTRUCTIONS 1 Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

2 In a large bowl, mash the bananas well. Add the milk or water with vinegar, vegan butter, maple syrup, if using, and vanilla and mix to combine well.

3 In a separate bowl, combine the sugar, flours, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix to combine well.

4 Drain the juice pulp or grated zucchini, removing excess liquid, and fold into the batter.

5 Place cupcake liners in a cupcake tin and scoop batter into each liner, filling it to the top. Add more chocolate chips and oats to the top.

6 Bake for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. Let cool for 30 minutes and enjoy!

INSTRUCTIONS 1 Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

2 Keeping the skin on the potatoes (if you prefer the skin off­—for classic fries—that works too!), slice off the ends. Then slice the potatoes lengthwise into quarters, and slice the quarters into wedges. Make sure the wedges are all roughly the same size.

3 Fill a large bowl halfway with water, the ice, and lemon juice.

Add the potatoes and let sit, fully submerged in the ice water, for 20 minutes or up to an hour.

4 Drain the potatoes and lay them out on a dish towel to dry. Clean the bowl and return the potatoes to it. Add the oil, garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, oregano, salt, and pepper and massage well with your hands.

ICE BATH POTATO FRIES INGREDIENTS 4 russet potatoes 2 cups ice Juice of 1/2 lemon 1/4 cup avocado oil 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon paprika 1 teaspoon onion powder 1 tablespoon dried oregano 1 teaspoon sea salt Pinch of black pepper

5 Arrange the potatoes on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Roast for 30 to 35 minutes, until tender and crisped at the edges. Let cool a bit and enjoy!

ON HOW TO INTRODUCE B A BY T O N E W F O O D S . . .

First feeds are a monumental step for both baby and parents. All babies are different when it comes to the right age to start and how quickly they start eating a variety of foods.

It’s important to understand the signs of readiness to start solids.

A few of the signs are: • Able to sit up without support • Able to maintain great head control when sitting • Loss of the tongue-thrust reflex so they don’t automatically push food out of their mouth when offered and taken • Follows foods with their eyes and shows eagerness and interest (sometimes babies even lick the air when they smell delicious food!)

• Opens mouth wide when you offer food on a spoon There are so many foods that can be great to start your baby on solids. In addition to considering your family’s food preferences, here are a few first foods (in very, very small pieces or puree): • Avocados • Banana • Soft cooked, sweet potatoes, squash and pumpkin • Soft cooked apples • Soft cooked carrots, green beans, zucchini, and beets

Cereals that are thinned to a near-liquid consistency with expressed breast milk or formula Very ripe peaches and pears Peanut butter thinned with water and mixed into oatmeal

O N T H E AG E TO S TA R T SOLIDS AND ALLERGENS LIKE EGG, PEANUT, AND FISH...

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the USDA recommend starting your child on solids between 4 and 6 months of age. You may be thinking that seems young, but in a complete reversal from decades of advice from pediatricians to avoid the foods associated with food allergies, research now says early and regular dietary exposure to a food — specifically a food often associated with allergies, like peanuts — helps reduce the risk of a child developing an allergy to that food.

There are 16 common allergens that make up 90% of food allergies.

Feeding these allergens early and often is key to reducing food allergy risk. If preparing 16 different foods feels overwhelming, there are solutions to help make it safe and convenient for parents. ON THE IDEAL DIET FOR BABIES...

Your baby’s diet should be diverse and robust. I often say try to get in 100 new foods in 100 days. Most parents do a great job getting in fruits and vegetables, but don’t forget things like meat and fish.

You want your baby to be exposed to lots of different textures and flavors.

ON THE BIGGEST MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT FOOD ALLERGIES IN KIDS...

Genetics. Food allergies are not always genetic, in fact, 2 out of 3 children with a food allergy, do NOT have a parent with one.

You only need to worry about peanut. Simply not true. Peanuts are the “celebrity” of food allergies, but a single allergy to peanuts only accounts for 7% of all food allergies. So get peanuts into the diet, yes, but don’t forget all the others as well.

You do not need to go slow and wait days in between feeding new foods. This is completely outdated advice. Parents should feel comfortable introducing multiple foods at a time. Or at least 1 new food every single day! Studies have shown that it is safe and in fact, going slow and delaying eating certain foods increases food allergy risk.

ON HOW TO REDUCE F O O D A L L E R GY R I S K . . .

There are 3 main things parents can do to reduce their child’s food allergy risk: • • •

Introduce common allergens around 4-6 months of age.

Keep common allergens in their diet on a consistent basis for about 1 year.

Let your child be exposed to things like dogs and dirt in the environment.

ON HOW TO IDENTIFY FOOD ALLERGIES...

The most common presentation is an allergic reaction which typically involves hives and/or vomiting within 2 minutes to 2 hours after eating a food.

What does your morning routine look like?

Being eight months pregnant, my routine looks a little different right now than it normally does! I am currently rolling out of bed like a roly poly bug and waddling into the kitchen to make school lunches, brush hair, and get kids ready. I try to work out before the kids wake up, but that currently isn’t happening, although I am excited to get back into that routine once I settle in with the new baby!

What do you think is the greatest challenge of motherhood?

MINI |

Working on yourself so you don’t pass down your own traumas. It is a lot of work to get through those things but it is so worth it for your littles. I also think having individual parenting responses ready for each kid based off of their personalities is tricky, but the older they get, the more I really know what each of them needs.

What is most important to you in raising your kids?

MINI |

I hope they know how much I LOVED raising them. I don’t want them to ever feel like they are a burden to me in any way or that they held me back from anything. I want them to feel what a blast I have, and know how happy I am to be their mom, that they inspire me to do everything I do in life. They give me so much energy and love.

How are you and your husband a great parenting team?

I think we are a good team because we both actively try to grow as individuals and challenge each other in ways we can grow. We both really enjoy being intentional parents and have so much fun with our kids.

Probably the same as most— that a health scare could come up or an accident of some kind. So grateful for our health every single day.

I won’t give any clues about her first name, BUT her middle name will be after my husband’s dad who passed away from cancer a few years ago. His name was Eugene.

How is this pregnancy similar or different from your others?

MINI |

It is very different just because I am now eight years older than I was with my first— I definitely had much more energy as a 23-year-old!

I also think I am much more self aware now, so while I may have had baby blues with my first two, I don’t think I was even aware enough to recognize it. I am much more aware of my emotions and patient with the ups and downs.

You’ve also shared that you’re having another GIRL! Did you have any feelings about gender during this pregnancy or were you completely surprised?

MINI |

I didn’t have any feelings, but my son really wanted a brother, so I was sort of hoping for a boy just for his sake. However, we are thrilled to have another girl and he is excited to be the man of the house!

How do your other littles feel about welcoming a new baby?

MINI |

SO excited, like beyond. They are all at such fun ages, so I think it will be a lot of fun and I will have more helpers this time.

As a former hairstylist, I always found it incredibly confusing shopping for haircare because there are always SO many options. “Our nursery is such a special room to us and is shared by our two young children. I was really mindful of everything I was putting on my body and into my body while I was pregnant with my daughter, and in this pregnancy, and because of that, I learned a lot about all that we use in a day. I am for sure not perfect when it comes to clean living and I know that I have so much to learn always, but I think I have a good idea of what works for me and my family and am always interested in learning more and ways to be better. My sister, Christina, is a total expert in this space so when she comes over she always gives me tons of tips.

How about your pregnancy? How are you bringing clean living into this phase of your life?

Routine wise, I just try to be as active as possible. I feel really blessed that I feel so great in this pregnancy so I try to work out daily. Running after a toddler this pregnancy has been different than the first time around but I love it. Again, I am mindful about the products I am using and what I am putting in my body. I feel super lucky to have found [clean medicine brand] Genexa in my last pregnancy and have been able to use it now too, especially for those heartburn moments. I was fortunate that I felt pretty good when I was pregnant with my daughter and I feel similar in this pregnancy too, and I never take that for granted as I know that’s not always common. I was playing tennis the week before I gave birth to my daughter and was walking the day before, and I hope to be able to do that again in this pregnancy as I think it helped me. I would say the biggest difference is the state of the world now compared to when I had my daughter

She is luckily going through a moment where she is obsessed with all things babies. She has a few different baby dolls and she loves bringing them with her everywhere and sleeping with them, so that’s encouraging to me. I also have a pretty similar age difference with my sister that my daughter will have with this baby, so I feel excited about that for her. I know there will be an adjustment and I am so grateful, once

during Covid. Now that the world has opened, I feel lucky that I am able to see my friends and family more than I did with my first pregnancy, but since there are still cases around, there is always a concern for us pregnant mamas, so I just try and take caution. I am glad there is more of a balance now though as seeing my family and very close friends is helpful for our wellbeing. I also feel like I have an extra layer of support and preparation since I’ve been doing my Instagram series, BDA Baby. I have been able to gather so much information over the past year and I’m looking forward to being able to apply it throughout this pregnancy and postpartum.

Later on in my teenage years, I lost track of the relationship to beauty I was taught at home, and embarked on a journey of trying to change and mask who I was. After decades of coloring, straightening, and constantly damaging my hair, I started to question the beauty standards presented by the industry. Despite the fact that people like me, of the Hispanic and Latinx demographic, account for nearly 20% of the US population and hold among the strongest spending power within beauty (spending 46% more on hair care products than non-Hispanics do), the category is still not reflecting this reality. Not only are we not represented in marketing, we are also not represented as owners, founders, and executives in this category, despite being the biggest spenders.

We are so inspired by your beautiful brand, Ceremonia! Can you tell us how the brand came to be?

MINI |

In many ways, I feel as if every part of my journey was a stepping stone in getting me to where I am today to bring Ceremonia to life. As the daughter of a Chilean hairdresser, I learned from an early age to love and appreciate beauty rituals as a form of self-care. Furthermore, growing up with my mom and aunt who are two beauty queens themselves, I learned the healing powers of natural plants and fruits long before it was considered cool.

Throughout my entire career, I’ve been extremely passionate about challenging the status quo, building unicorn brands such as Uber and Away and being the first woman to enter many rooms. This passion has now been translated to an even stronger mission— to reimagine the hair care aisle with a wellness approach to hair, while authentically representing and celebrating the richness of the Latinx culture.

Creating an iconic brand with

global appeal that celebrates my culture has an incredibly deep meaning to me.

For so many years, I felt ashamed of my background, and through this journey, I’m not only finding my way back to my own roots, but I’m also hoping to help others see the beauty in our culture, too. We tap into the many powerful fruits and plants native to the Latin American region, and push the boundaries for what clean hair care can be. Replacing common toxic filler ingredients with natural ones, mixed with science-backed ingredients to generate real results in a clean and sustainable way. Ceremonia is all about instilling a confident natural, tackling the root issue of our hair woes for real transformation. No more quickfixes or masking for the day—say hola to a

How has the brand evolved since it began and where do you hope to see it go?

We started with a single hero product and have since grown the line into a full routine with shampoo and conditioner, hair mask, styling products, scalp care, and more. The most exciting part of this development is that we have been able to grow the line with the input of our community, serving their real needs and preferences while continuing to push the boundaries for what clean hair care can be.

With Ceremonia as a clean beauty brand, can you detail your own daily clean beauty routine?

MINI |

I am a big fan of serums! I love investing in my skin and spend more time on skincare than I do on makeup. I love Tata Harper, which is also what I am currently using as I am expecting my second baby and the products are not only high-performance but also pregnancy safe.

I love the Illuminating Eye Serum, which functions as a highlighter and eye cream in one, and the Resurfacing Serum. I enjoy layering serums, usually starting with the more lightweight, jelly-viscosity ones, and then adding the richer ones. I then seal the serums with a face oil— some favorites include the Moringaia Face Oil, as well as Vintner’s Daughter’s iconic face oil.

When it comes to makeup, I love Saie Beauty’s Glowy Super Gel, mixed with their tinted moisturizer, Westman Atelier’s blush in Petal, Ami Cole’s mascara, and Merit’s brow gel and lip glosses.

As for my own hair, I use the Ceremonia Leave-in Conditioner to tame baby hairs and frizz, as well as to seal dry ends.

During the dry winter months, I also love to end my routine with the Oil Mist con Aloe Vera to seal the hydration and boost

shine. For days when I am on the go and don’t have time to wash my hair, I use the Açai Style Refresher to revive my hair and infuse it with our signature scent. Once a week, I reset my scalp and hair with our Sunday Reset Duo, featuring a Papaya Scalp Scrub for deep cleanse and Deep Conditioning Mask for silky strands. This duo is a new favorite! It truly feels like a spa moment at home! The night before washing my hair with this duo, I usually apply Aceite de Moska before going to bed and leave the scalp oil on during the night to help balance and restore my scalp, and increase hair strength.

What has been the greatest lesson you’ve learned in business thus far?

That persistence and determination is key. As a founder, especially as a sole founder, you’ll have many moments of doubt and countless setbacks. Being confident enough to keep pushing with persistence and determination is the only way forward and what will ultimately set you apart from the rest.

We love to ask— What do you think about the idea of “having it all?”

MINI |

I think you can have it all, but not all at once. Having a family and a career at the same time is not impossible, but having that and a thriving social life, restful vacations, ambitious wellness goals, and perfectly home cooked meals all at once is not realistic. have to give. For me right now, the focus is family and work, and as such, other things have had to take the backseat.

What advice would you give to moms looking to start their own brand?

MINI |

To make sure you do it in a way that brings you joy. We are most successful when we operate from a place of joy, and with motherhood, you will always be competing against time with your children, which puts more pressure on work having to be a source of joy.

Let’s dive into your life as a soonto-be mom of two! What do you think is the greatest challenge of motherhood?

MINI |

Time! We are constantly competing against the hours of the day, and somehow there are just never enough of them. Having two kids will not make that equation easier, that is for sure.

What is most important to you in raising your children?

MINI |

To fill them with unconditional love and confidence. I want my children to feel so immensely loved and special.

We all experience mom guilt from time to time. When do you find mom guilt creeps in and how do you deal with it?

MINI |

It creeps up all the time and makes it really hard to prioritize things for oneself, but my husband is great at reminding me of putting my own oxygen mask on first and encourages me to carve out time for myself and the things that fill my cup.

Let’s talk pregnancy! How has this pregnancy been different from your first?

MINI |

This pregnancy has felt very different, mainly because of the fact that I don’t have as much space to rest now that I also have a toddler running around. With my first pregnancy, I was able to work out almost every day and felt very energetic, whereas with this pregnancy, I am feeling increasingly tired. I have now started to carve out 30 to 60 minute breaks during the day for naps and mediation which has been super helpful.

How are you dressing the bump this season? What are you living in right now?

MINI |

The best part about having done this quite recently is that I still have many pieces I wore during my first pregnancy that I can recycle. I also learned a lot about pregnancy dressing my first time around, and I have been much more comfortable knowing what works and what doesn’t this time. For example, with my first pregnancy I made the mistake of ordering big loose dresses that would fit a growing belly, without thinking about BABBA RIVERA |

what that would do to my overall body shape.

I’ve found that for my body type it works much better to embrace the belly through tight knitted dresses. The rule of thumb for me now is that I don’t want to hide behind a tent, but rather embrace parts of my body, whether it’s a leg moment, an open neck, or a tight fit to embrace my full figure.

Has your personal style changed at all since becoming a mom?

MINI |

The only real change I saw was an increased desire to wear denim after giving birth.

After so many months of not fitting into any pants or denims, I started to crave simple dressing like high-rise denim with a crisp white shirt and a heel!

Can you tell us how you decided on your daughter’s name? How is the name game going this time around?

MINI |

We wanted a name that would work in both Spanish and Swedish, as that’s where our roots are, but simultaneously wanted it to be easy to spell and pronounce in English as well. Alma felt like a match made in heaven, it’s an old name in both Sweden and Chile, and means soul in Spanish which felt so special.

What do you love and look forward to about raising your kids in NYC?

MINI |

The diversity! I really look forward to them emerging themselves with many different cultures and taking them on adventures that help them broaden their perspective.

The importance of family and sticking to what you believe is right. I think in this day and age it’s so easy to be persuaded and I really would love to instill moral values and how to verbalize how they feel about a situation. Having courage in standing firm in what you believe is right!

How are you and your husband a great parenting team?

MINI |

We are completely opposite, which really serves us well when we are parenting as a team. I’m more paranoid and uptight about things, and my husband is great at just enjoying life and letting Leo be a kid. It’s a great combo and I’m so grateful for such a hands-on dad like Carson!

How was your transition from a mom of zero to one? What would you tell yourself in those early days?

MINI |

It was a transition for sure! It’s harder than I expected but so much more amazing. I’d say to just take it one day at a time and

How about when you learned it was a BOY? Were you surprised or did you have any inklings of what the gender might be?

I was completely surprised! Carson and I were so convinced it was a girl. We were seriously shocked when we found out it was a boy. I was very happy and so was Carson.

Tell us how you decided on your son’s name.

MINI |

Our son’s name is very special. My father-in-law passed away before he was born so we named him exactly his: Kevin Leo McAllister.

How about your birth experience? Was it what you expected it to be or was it surprising?

MINI |

It was so amazing. Nothing like I expected, but I loved every second. Even though it was rough and we ended up with an emergency C-section, I wanted to do it over and over again.

The postpartum stage can be an equally chaotic time. How have you felt going into this “fourth trimester” after welcoming your son?

I grew up in a home where my parents always wanted to bring everyone together.

I would always be the friend that “hosted.” When we create experiences, especially the place we call home, we want to make it just that— an environment filled with warmth, fun, and good energy. A place where we can be ourselves, do what we love, and make memories.

What are some of your favorite elements in the office?

MINI |

Probably our vintage Pac-Man machine that does not work. It did work at some point, but doesn’t anymore; I still love it. I love fun pieces of furniture and art. We have a stool that’s completely made out of sprinkles.

Can you tell us how the brand came to be?

MINI |

Terez (my middle name: a combination of both my grandmothers’ names) em-

bodies love, freedom of expression, female empowerment, inclusivity, and positivity (really a lot of things, huh?). I started the brand out of my parents basement in 2008. I was in a dark place in my life, as so many can relate to, and wanted to create something, anything, that made me feel good and in turn, other people. In 2012, we launched our galaxy-printed leggings and they truly took off— like stories you only read about. It was very special. The brand has continued to be a source of good and an outlet for creativity for anyone who wears it.

How has Terez evolved since you started the brand and where do you hope to see it go?

MINI |

It’s hard to believe that we’ve only gotten louder since the brand began.

When I began, I was making leather handbags with fun interiors. Essentially, hiding my truest self inside. Once I took the linings out and created not just a pair of leggings, but an entire world filled with color, it continued to explode from there. The brand has evolved over the years— collections have reflected trends. For example, our spring collection is filled with pastel prints and bold colors, but we always wanted Terez to be a space for positivity and brand that celebrates the joy in life.

What has been your proudest career moment to date?

MINI |

Honestly, when I am walking down the street or somewhere that I am not expecting to see someone wearing Terez and then I do, it doesn’t get better than that. The fact that our customers have millions of choices to choose from and they choose to purchase from us is very humbling; it’s a feeling that never gets old. Something exciting right now is our partnership with Dillard’s. I’m so proud to be expanding nationwide and I hope the brand continues to be a source of light and positivity for anyone and everyone as we expand into Dillard’s and grow our customer base across the country.

Can you tell us how you decided on your children’s names?

MINI |

Elle Jay, our oldest daughter, was named after both my and [my husband] David’s grandfathers. We wanted a name that started with the letter “L” for Larry and the letter “J” for Joseph.

David then brilliantly suggested we just spell out the two letters and created “Elle Jay.” Ty Jonah, our son, is named after my mother who passed away when I was pregnant with him. Her name was Justine, and her nickname was Tina. That is where Ty came from. His middle name, Jonah, is after a very good, heroic friend of mine that passed away right after high school. Our little one, Billie Justine, is named after both David’s grandmother Billie and my mother, Justine. All strong, beautiful people who have made true impacts on our lives.

Let’s talk parenting! As a mom of three, how was your transition going from a mom of one to two? Was it easier or harder than going from 0 to 1, 1 to 2, or 2 to 3?

MINI |

This question makes me laugh.

They are all INSANE. You are literally birthing a human being and then responsible for keeping it safe for the rest of your life. But, in all seriousness, having children is the coolest thing in the world.

Having three can sometimes be challenging, as you only have two hands and arms.

What is your go-to outfit right now? What will you be living in this spring?

MINI |

For me, sports bras are not just for sports! I live in our sports bras and have been pairing them with our new rib skirt. It’s the perfect outfit to run around in this spring. Throw on a pair of jelly sandals and you’re good to go!

We’d love to get your take— What do you think about the idea of “having it all?”

MINI |

I think being grateful for what you do have, especially your health and your family. Those will always be the things that ultimately matter.

I never thought I was going to raise children in NYC. I didn’t think I wanted to.

I didn’t grow up here, but it’s wonderful and we are so fortunate for the opportunity to be able to raise our family in New York City. There’s never a dull moment in this city. It makes growing up all the more fun and exciting. We can still escape to quieter places, but my kids adore the noise and craziness. I think they get it from me!

Thank you! She is a Georgian-style home built in the 1870’s with French design elements and architecture. More than anything, we feel very honored to be her current caretakers.

Where do you spend the most time in your home? What do you love about that space?

We’re only 30 minutes from NYC and when you walk to the end of our driveway, you can see the city lights at night, but with the landscaping around the house, we’re surrounded by greenery, making it feel like we’re a hundred miles

away. I love the romantic views of old trees and flower bushes outside of each window.

They’ve become my favorite spots to read, work, and nurse my little one. Our home feels very inviting and peaceful.

How about your kids’ spaces? What inspired you in creating them and what are some of your favorite elements there?

I loved their bedroom as it was when we moved in. It was very reminiscent of the London townhouse from the Peter Pan movie “Hook.” I wanted to add something fun, bold, and creative where the boys’ imaginations could run wild. I’m a huge fan of fun, whimsical wallpaper, so I based the design off of this gorgeous navy and gold hot air balloon print from Cole & Son.

You are the mother of four boys! Can you tell us what has surprised you most about motherhood thus far?

My biggest surprise was learning that I had to parent differently with each child. Before kids I thought parenting would be a “one size fits all” with my future children, but I’ve learned to adapt and conform to be there for them all in the different ways they each need me.

My boys all have their own unique personalities and they all love and crave to be loved in different ways.

Growing up, did you envision yourself having a big family?

Definitely. I’m the eldest of five and always hoped to have multiple children.

What is most important to you in raising your boys?

MINI |

That they grow to become kind, confident, and loving adults. I want them to be successful in their own definition of success, not what society tells us is success. My biggest hope for them is genuine happiness with whatever path they choose in life.

How was your transition after each of your boys? Which did you find the most difficult?

MINI |

Two to three kids. It was still hard, but compared to the struggles that came along with the other transitions, it wasn’t nearly as difficult.

What do you think about the idea of “having it all?

MINI |

To me, the idea of having it all is wrapped around being able to both work and raise a family in today’s more modern society, but feels more like pressure to “do it all.” Just because we can, doesn’t mean we should. I’m trying to slowly separate myself from the hustle work culture to find a more balanced way to live and enjoy my day to day instead of living for the weekends.

What do you think is the greatest challenge of motherhood?

MINI |

Losing my identity to motherhood. I’ve spent the past decade either being pregnant or postpartum and it feels like my identity has slowly become who I am as a mother. As the boys grow older and start going to school, I’m looking forward to the opportunity to get to know myself all over again.

Give yourself grace, take advice with a grain of salt, and trust your natural instincts.

Only you know what’s best for both you and your baby during this new transition. You may not cherish every day (understatement!), but there’s something to cherish about every stage.

I’ve become more confident to wear whatever makes me happy. Life is too short

MINI |

Be confident in who you are. There’s absolutely no one else in the world quite like you.

Thank you for inviting us into your home! Where do you spend the most time in your home?

MINI |

I spend the most amount of time in my bedroom. It’s become my office ever since I started working from home. A close second is the kitchen and living room since I’m always cooking or preparing something whether it’s a smoothie for me, or lunch for the kids. I love how the kids can play while I get everything ready. My favorite thing about this house is hands down the incredible light we get. It’s so bright and happy and every window is a little picture frame for the ever-changing leaves and sky outside.

How about your kids’ spaces?

What inspired you in creating them and what are some of your favorite elements there?

MINI |

I want my kids’ spaces to be a safe place for them that feels sprinkled with magic and opportunity. My goal is for them to think of their rooms as a happy space that they love spending time in. In Isabella’s room, we transformed the closet into a reading room with a special chair, bookcase, and a special calming wall color.

You are the mother of two girls! Can you tell us what has surprised you most about motherhood thus far?

MINI |

How you can love something more than anything; that’s simultaneously so hard. My

girls have limitless energy and so many opinions. I love how they are forces of nature, but wow, is it exhausting.

What is most important to you in raising your girls?

MINI |

responses, we talk to them about listening to their gut and to trust the relationship with their natural instinct. Encouraging and supporting that confidence and empowerment is my #1 goal.

What is your greatest parenting worry or fear?

MINI |

That they are happy, healthy, and never hesitate to stand up for their personal boundaries. We never tell them to give someone a hug or kiss, instead we encourage them to listen to what feels right for them. It is not their job to make anyone feel comfortable or loved, especially when it involves their bodies. Similarly, we never speak negatively about our bodies or food. Instead, we help them listen to their bodies and teach them about nutrient-rich ingredients. When my girls have instinctual

I am very scared about drugs, social media, and climate change. I plan on having a lot of conversations with them about all of these topics, which I know will have evolved even more by then.

How was your transition from a mom of zero to one, then two kids?

MINI |

They were both equally

hard for me, but in different ways. From zero to one, I went from maiden to mother and there was definitely a grief period for me in that transition. Postpartum was incredibly difficult for me because I wasn’t prepared at all, which made it even harder. From one to two, I was already a mother so the personal growth wasn’t as profound, but being torn between the two girls has been so much more of a challenge than I was expecting. Because they’re so close in age, they each really want all my attention!

What advice would you give to moms about to have their second baby?

MINI |

Accept all the help. If a friend wants to make dinner, say yes please. If the grandparents want to take one of the kids to dinner, tell them to go ahead.

Tell us how you decided on your daughters’ names.

MINI |

It was really important to me to give the girls family names. My name is Helane Isabella Crowell. I was named Helane after my grandmother Helene, and Isabella after my dearest Aunt, and I’ve always felt that my names were so special and meaningful because of that family connection.

[For my daughter, Isabella Sage]: Isabella is a name that actually goes back over ten generations in my family. Sage is the name of a woman named Olivia Sage in

Sag Harbor, New York (where we live) who gave all of her money to support women’s education in the early 1900s.

[For my youngest] Rose Harbor: Rose is my husband’s great grandmother’s first name. She immigrated to the United States when she was very young, like my grandfather who grew carnations and roses. This name is in honor of our immigrant grandparents who sacrificed everything to come here. Harbor is after Sag Harbor, where we moved full time during the pandemic and has been a safe haven for us.

We are so inspired by Saie! Can you tell us how the brand came to be?

MINI |

Saie started after a conversation with my community I cultivated through my blog. They told me what they wanted and the brand is a direct response to that— it’s also where the brand name comes from! We still reference those conversations all the time in what we now call the Feel Good Five: Conscious, Luxury, Earth-friendly, Award-winning, and New. Everything Saie does has to make sense in the context of the Feel Good Five.

What has been your proudest career moment to date?

MINI |

Winning Beauty Inc’s Marketer of the Year was so fun and such a thrill!

What do you think about the idea of “having it all?

MINI |

I think it’s a mindset. I don’t have it all, but I practice gratitude every day and at the end of my meditation. I feel like the luckiest person in the world. So, do I think I have it all? Yes, but I think it’s a choice to look at it that way.

What has been the greatest lesson you’ve learned in business thus far?

MINI |

As the owner of a beauty brand, we have to ask! What is your current beauty/skincare routine?

MINI |

Don’t give out sweat equity. If someone wants part of your business, they need to pay for it.

LANEY CROWELL |

My routine is very simple because I don’t have a lot of time. I can do my makeup in two minutes, sometimes even faster. I don’t have to prep my skin at all because all of our products are SO hydrating. I start with Glowy Super Gel all over, then Slip Tint in shade 3.5. Next, I apply Dew Blush in our new shade Spicy high up on my cheeks, then I dust Airset on with The Fluffy Brush to set everything. A couple swipes of Mascara 101, a quick brush of the brows and a swipe of gloss or

What are you most looking forward to about raising your kids in the Hamptons?

MINI |

Spending lots and lots of time outdoors.

MASCARA I look a million times better with mascara on.
