GOOD PRACTICE IN ZEYK DOMOKOS SECONDARY TECHNICAL SCHOOL
The basic concept of the project is showing a good example for the students, i.e. the project allows the students to learn about each other's culture, becoming more accepting, tolerant, and more openminded. In practice we achieved this here, in the Zeyk Domokos Technical School that we watched the cultural videos of the partner countries (the Turks, Italians and Hungarians); we had discussions, and workshops held afterwards where we compared the different cultural habits of ethnic groups, and we reflected on our own habits. Finally, in order to summarize the activities, a survey questionnaire was completed by the students; by this we tested the essential points, the main information that the students received after watching the film and discussing it. We found out that in addition to the specific information they got about the different cultures, there was an important shift in their cultural behavior: openness replaced the rejection, exclusion and incomprehension. The interest and openness is the most important step towards tolerance. They understood that the different cultural practices are not mutually exclusive; they do not weaken but strengthen each other, and make the world more colorful. We can, therefore, conclude that significant improvements can be achieved in the PC (Political correctness) through the dissemination of information and awareness-raising. An important aspect is that the project's leading trainers and teachers themselves have shown a positive example to students by their interest and openness to understand cultural diversity.
