BATANGAS City - “Engage yourselves and let your voice be heard. Give us more pressure and let your clamor and ideas reach the halls of Congress.”

Thus, Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chairman Allan Peter Cayetano challenged the students of the Batangas State University in a dialogue Friday, Feb. 4 “Your voice is important to us and your legislators must also hear them so that they may be part and be the basis of every legislation that the Congress passes.

Cayetano was in Batangas City last Friday for the forum on the recently inacted Republic Act 10648 otherwise known as Iskolar ng Bayan Act of which he is the author.

The framework for the impact assessment of the NGP contains four components – economic, social, environmental, and institutional. ‘Engage yourselves, let your voice be heard’, Cayetano asks the students Republic Act 10648 provides scholarship grants to top graduates of public high schools in State Universities and Colleges (SUCs).

“It is the declared policy of the State to protect and promote the right of all citizens to quality and accessible education at all levels and to establish and maintain a financial assistance system that shall be available to deserving students, especially the underprivileged,” the statement said.

The scholarship will cover the top 10 students of the graduating class of all public high schools. An additional slot will be granted to public high schools with more than 500 students for every 500 graduates. The additional slots will be given to graduates with ranks immediately preceding the top 10.

Students must first meet the admission requirements of their chosen SUC before they can avail of the

scholarship. The public high school principal or administrator will have to verify the student’s rank in the graduating class.

The program covers the full amount of tuition and other school fees for the first year of college only. Students will be covered by the regular financial assistance and scholarship programs offered by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) after their first year, if they are qualified.

Under the Act, it will be the duty of CHED to ensure that SUCs have the capacity to absorb scholars and that they comply with the law. The SUCs shall inform the faculty and administrative staff about the program.

The Department of Education will inform all public high schools about the scholarship program and will be in charge of identifying the scholars.

The amount needed to fund the

scholarships will be included in the annual General Appropriations Act. The Iskolar ng Bayan Act will be implemented beginning school year 2015-2016.

Cayetano said that for the nation to be more productive, our government must espouse good governance, choose right people, implement sound planning, choose leaders with political will and run under moral compass.

Mga mangingisdang gumagamit ng air compressor, nasabat SANTA FE, Romblon — Nasabat ng mga tauhan ng Santa Fe Municipal Police Station ang anim na mangingisda na nagsasagawa ng ilegal na pangingisda sa karagatan na sakop ng nasabing bayan kamakailan.

Ang operasyon ng paghuli na ikinasa ng pulisya ay pinangunahan ni Police Inspector Reginal B. Manalo, Acting Chief of Police ng Santa Fe MPS kasama ang kanyang mga tauhan.

Ang mga nahuling mangingisda ay pawang mga residente ng bayan ng Looc kung saan ang mga suspek ay namataan na may dalang air compressor (breathing apparatus) na ginagamit sa pangingisda.

Ayon kay PINSP Reginal B. Manalo, nagpapatrolya umano sila sa karagatang sakop ng munisipalidad ng Sta. Fe, Romblon sakay ng pumpboat nang makarating sila sa karagatan ng Barangay Agmanic ng naispatan nila ang isang bangkang de motor na nagsasagawa ng ilegal na pangingisda.

Ayon sa City Treasurer’s Office (CTO), mataas ito ng P56.8 milyon o 24.50% sa koleksyon noong Enero 2014.

May 5,236 naman ang bilang ng mga establisimyento na nagpatala sa Business One Stop Shop (BOSS) kung saan 109 ay mga bagong negosyo at 5,217

ang nag-renew. Kumpara noong kagayang panahon noong isang taon na 4,458 lamang ang nagpatala kung saan 4349 dito ang nag-renew.

Upang higit na mapaglingkuran ang publiko at mapabilis ang kanilang transaksyon, sinimulan ng CTO ngayong Enero ang payment ng mga nasabing fees gamit ang ATM Card at Debit Card.

THE bill which is supposed to extend the life of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) is still pending in the Congress. The extended agrarian reform program expired in June last year. Since then, no serious attempt to pass a new law is reported to take place in the Senate and the House of Representatives. Other concerns which are not as pressing and importance as the agrarian reform program have taken much of the attention of the legislature.

Despite of the presidential certification of the bill almost a year ago, Congress remains oblivious of the necessity of its immediate passage.

Members of the Congress fail to appreciate the true value of the role that agriculture plays in the survival of the country. These officials have been given lip-service to the rural poor for so long already.

Since the bill remains pending in Congress, no funds could be allocated to continue the acquisition and distribution of agricultural lands. The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) is now operating without capability to carry out its mandate of land distribution program. It loses its reason for being and eventually, its affairs should be concluded already.

The prolonged action on the agrarian reform extension bill is not new anyway. Other important pieces of legislation suffer worse fate. Congress is not known for swift action on legislative matters pending before it. The legislative processes involved in the passage of bills take too long and much of the people’s taxes. This is partly the reason why some people view Congress as irrelevant congregations of politicians which is too expensive to maintain.

Is its passage still foreseeable in the next few months? Can agrarian reform advocates expect that this year will be a fruitful one?

As the last State of the Nation address of President BS Aquino III takes place in June this year, It is difficult to expect that miracles can still happen in the present Congress. As early as today, politicians are getting ready for reelection. New alliances and massive party switching are beginning to show up. Attendance in Congress actually become lesser in the last few months and is expected to decrease even more as the election period approaches. In addition to this, re-election driven investigations are expected to occupy most of the calendar days of the two chambers. These re-election driven investigations provide politicians cheap but effective tool to destroy the careers of their nemesis to the prejudice of important proposed measures.

The future for the agrarian reform bill is bleak. The failure of the previous programs had not helped us realize the mistakes which the failed political system has created. As long as we continue to vote for people who have no true concern for the poor, we cannot expect that important measures such as the agrarian reform bill may be enacted and brought to successful end.

We are used to wait for nothing. Maybe this time, we will have the courage to stop waiting. Maybe this time, we can hope to start doing things differently starting by making miracles that can change the sad state of our political life.| ................................................................................................

The Pope and climate change MOST observers are likely to agree that the visit of Pope Francis has reinvigorated the faith of the millions of Catholics in the only predominantly Christian country in Asia. But that visit was also an expression and in furtherance of the Pope’s commitment to the defense of the environment.

His visit to the Philippines, he emphasized, was primarily intended for him to be with the survivors and victims of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), which in 2013 was the latest aberration in a series of weather anomalies in typhoon-prone Philippines. Not only was it the most powerful typhoon to ever make landfall; it was also part of a succession of increasingly stronger typhoons that over the last five years have smashed into the Philippines and made global warming and its consequences issues of life and death for thousands of Filipinos.

The Pope’s concern for the Yolanda survivors was pointedly focused on the environment, so the news that he’s been working for months on an encyclical on climate change, in which he’s likely to call for more aggressive action on global warming, should come as no surprise.

It’s not a sudden advocacy. His choice of the name he wanted to be known by, Francis, was inspired by St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals and the environment. The Pope has also spoken a number of times on the need to respect and defend nature. In May 2014, for example, after a five-day Vatican-sponsored workshop on “Sustainable Humanity, Sustainable Nature, Our Responsibility” in which legal scholars, microbiologists, philosophers, economists and other experts were in attendance, he asked the faithful all over the world to “safeguard creation, because if we destroy creation, creation will destroy us.”

Addressing a huge crowd in Rome, the Pope argued that the “beauty of nature and the grandeur of the cosmos” should be valued by Christians. Failure to do so, he said, can lead to “disastrous consequences” for mankind.

And during a press conference while on his way to the Philippines, the Pope declared that global warming was mostly the result of human activity. He also said he would release his encyclical before the United Nations climate change talks in Paris this November.

“I don’t know if it (human activity) is the only cause, but mostly, in great part, it is man who has slapped nature in the face. We have, in a sense, taken over nature,” he told interviewers.

But the encyclical on climate change is likely to deepen mistrust of the Pope among US conservatives (who either deny the reality of climate change, or reject the idea that it is man-made), says an Associated Press report.

“Conservative distrust of Pope Francis, which has been building in the US throughout his pontificate, is reaching a boiling point over his plan to urge action on climate change — and to do so through a document traditionally used for the most important papal teachings,” said AP. More accurately, however, can the attitude of US conservatives be described as hostility rather than mere distrust. Any Papal encyclical urging action on climate change is necessarily going to propose solutions — and the real solutions to the problem are likely to reiterate the Pope’s view that not only is climate change “mostly man-made,” even more specifically is it the doing of the huge corporations that in much of the developed countries of North America and Europe, plus Japan and China, are engaged in the uncontrolled and profitable exploitation of the world’s resources.

The billion-dollar fear, in short, is that the encyclical will call for either global action to regulate capitalism, in direct opposition to the neo-liberal argument that only the operation of the free market should regulate trade and business, or demand that the corporations

Gawin nating inspirasyon ang disiplina ng ating mga kasundaluhan ANG pagmamasid ay isang pamamaraan para tayo ay makaangkin ng kaalaman sa maraming larangan.

Ang pagkukumpara ay isang pamamaraan para magkaroon ng batayan para sa pagbabago. Sabihin man natin na tila hindi tama ito lalo na kung ang sarili natin ang ating ihahambing sa iba pero hindi kaila sa lahat na naging ugali na ito ng ilan simulang mamulat sa katotohanan na meron nga talagang dapat baguhin sa sarili.

Nagkakaroon ito ng acceptance lalo na kung ang pag uusapan ay ang kapakanan ng ating bansa lalo na ngayon na merong mga modelong best practices na puwede mai-adapt upang ang pambansang mithiin ay ating mapatatag.  Sa isang sundalo na katulad ko, hindi maiwasan na pag-aralan ang ating lipunan at iba pang lipunan para magkaroon ng batayan kung saan tayo nangingibabaw. O di kaya ay nagkaroon ng pagkukulang.

Importante rin na malaman ng lahat na ito ay isang daan lamang para sa pagpapalakas ng ating mga nakaligtaang kaugalian o core values na muli nating ibalik para sa mas magandang kinabukasan para sa ating salinlahi.

Sa pitak na ito, bigyan nating pansin ang bansang South Korea at ang patriotism bilang isang duty ng bawat Pilipino.

Kung bakit ito ang topic ko ngayon ay dahil isa ako sa mga naniniwalang ang pagiging sundalo ay isa sa mga larangan kung saan mataas ang antas ng patriotism ng bawat isa at gusto ko rin na itaas ang antas ng ating pagmamahal sa ating sariling bayan sa pamamagitan ng pagbabago sa ugaling magdidikta ng mga landas na ating tatahakin.  Ang mga Koreano ay isa sa mga lahing matindi ang pagmamahal sa bayan. 10th Councilwide Jamborette, malapit na IPINAGDIRIWANG ng Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) Batangas City Council ang ika40 anibersaryo nito ngayong buwan ng Pebrero.

Kaalinsabay nito ay isasagawa ang 10th Councilwide Jamborette na inaasahang lalahukan ng may 1000 iskawts (Kid, Kab, Boy at Senior Scouts) mula sa iba’t ibang pampubliko at pribadong paaralan sa lunsod sa darating na February 27-March 1 na isasagawa sa Batangas Provincial Sports Complex.

Ang tema ng Councilwide Jamborette ngayong taon ay “Peace and Development through Scouting”.

Sa unang araw ay gaganapin ang opening ceremonies at Court of Honor para sa mga Unit Leaders.

Inaasahan ang pagdalo dito ni BSP Batangas City Council Chairman Mayor Eduardo B. Dimacuha.

Sa gabi naman ay ang Search for Mr & Ms BSP Foundation.

Isasagawa sa ikalawang araw ang mga modulebased activities tulad ng hiking, woggle-making, amazing race, tie-dye para sa elementary students at silk-screen painting para sa high school students.

Mayroon ding grand camp fire sa gabi.

Sa huling araw ay magkakaroon ng misa at gawaing pangkapaligiran na tinaguriang Heal the Earth. Magbibigay naman ng pagsasanay sa water safety, CPR at emergency preparedness ang mga tauhan ng Batangas City BFP.

Kasunod nito ang awarding at closing ceremonies.

Samantala, nakatakda namang isagawa ang Regional Scout Youth Forum sa February 6-8 sa Sabang Elementary School sa Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro. Bawat lalawigan sa CALABARZON at MIMAROPA ay magpapadala ng scouts sa naturang forum kung kayat mahigit sa 100 scouts mula sa 17 Council ang dadalo rito.

Sa okasyong ito, magbabalangkas ng mga resolusyon ang mga scouts at dito din pipili ng Regional Scout Representative na ipadadala sa National Youth Forum sa Marso.

Panauhing pandangal sa naturang okasyon si Regional Scout Director – Southern Luzon Rodolfo C. Pangilinan.

Ipinabatid naman ni BSP Batangas City Council Administrative Officer Tony Velasquez ang panibagong karangalan na natanggap ng kanilang konseho. Ito ay ang plaque of appreciation o Achiever Award mula kay DepEd Regional Director Dr. Diosdado San Antonio dahil nalampasan nito ang 13,000 goal nito na maging myembro. Ang parangal ay ipinagkaloob sa RESCOM Meeting and Election of Officers na ginanap sa GMA Tech High Conference Hall sa GMA Cavite, Enero 19.

Ang BSP Batangas City Council ay may kabuuang 14,423 myembro na sa kasalukuyan.|

Ipinapatay ang asawa NABARIL at napatay ang asawa ni Amy na si Val, isang opisyal na may mataas na ranggo. Sinampahan ng kaso sina Tino, Jimmy, Manny at Gerry dahil sa ginawa nilang pakikipagsabwatan sa isa’t isa upang mapatay si Val. Kinasuhan din si Amy ng parricide. Dahil sa ginawa niyang pag-uudyok at kapalit ng pera, nagawa ng kalaguyo niyang si Tino na patayin si Val. Nang sampahan ng kaso, inaresto si Amy at nakulong. Agad siyang nagpetisyon upang makapagpiyansa. Ayon sa kanya, mahina ang ebidensiya na magdidiin sa kanya sa kaso. Samantala, nang arestuhin si Tino, gumawa ito ng isang sinumpaang salaysay.

Inamin niya na si Amy ang may pakana at nagplano ng nasabing pagpatay. Inamin din niya sa hukuman ang kanyang kasalanan.

Sa paglilitis ng petisyon tungkol sa piyansa, ginamit ng prosekusyon ang testimonya ni Dencio, pinsan ni Tino na nagpahayag na narinig niya at nakita ang pagkainip, desperasyon at pagmamakaawa ni Amy kay Tino nang magtanong ito tungkol sa planong pagpatay kay Val. Ginamit din ng prosekusyon ang tungkol sa ginawang pag-amin ni Tino sa pakikipagsabwatan niya kay Amy. Sa kabila ng lahat ng ito, tinanggap pa rin ng korte ang aplikasyon ni Amy. Nakalabas siya ng kulungan matapos makapagpiyansa.

Kinuwestiyon ng prosekusyon sa pamamagitan ng kapatid na babae ng namatay ang tungkol sa ginawa ng korte. Ayon sa kanila, inabuso ng husgado ang

kapangyarihan nito nang ipahintulot ang pagpipiyansa ni Amy. Tama ba sila?  TAMA. Ang isang taong kinasuhan dahil sa isang mabigat na kasalanan na ang ipapataw na parusa ay habambuhay na pagkakakulong ay hindi dapat hayaang magpiyansa lalo at matibay ang ebidensiya laban sa kanya.

Ayon sa batas (Rule 114, Sec. 1 & 2, Rules of Court), ang piyansa na ibinibigay ng akusado o ng piyansador ay pinahihintulutan bilang garantiya sa pansamantalang kalayaan ng akusado sa kondisyon na titiyakin ang patuloy niyang pagsipot sa paglilitis sa oras na ipatawag ng husgado. Hindi ito isang karapatan na ginagarantiyahan ng batas. Maaaring hindi tanggapin ang piyansa lalo at matibay ang ebidensiya sa isang grabeng kaso o ang tinatawag nating “capital offense”.

Sa kasong ito, hindi naisaalang-alang ng husgado ang katotohanan na mismong ang pumatay na ang umamin at nagturo kay Amy bilang utak ng krimen o mastermind. Bukod dito, ang pahayag ng pinsan ni Tino na si Dencio na siya mismo ang nakakita at nakarinig sa mga aktuwasyon ni Amy ay sapat na upang patunayan na matibay ang ebidensiya na may kinalaman si Amy sa nangyaring pagpatay at siya pa mismo ang instrumento o pasimuno nito. Isang malaking pagkakamali ang ginawa ng husgado nang pahintulutan nito ang pagpipiyansa ni Amy. Dapat na ipawalambisa ang piyansa at arestuhin siyang muli. Coordination issue on Mamasapano raid “THE pertinent provision of the implementing guidelines on the ceasefire agreement signed on 15 February 2012 between the GPH Chair Marvic Leonen and MILF Mohagher Iqbal clearly states: “6. Except for operations against high priority targets, a list of which shall be provided by the GPH Panel to the MILF Panel, the AHJAG shall inform the GPH and the MILF CCCH at least 24 hours prior to the conduct of the AFP/PNP operations in order to allow sufficient time for the evacuation of civilians and to avoid armed confrontation between the GPH and MILF forces” The clear language speaks for itself. It clearly exempts the GPH operating units in cases of operations against the likes of MARWAN. In fact, the SAF informed others of the top secret operations AFTER THE FACT to prevent the operations from being compromised, learning from previous failed operations in the past. Otherwise, they would have not successfully bagged HPT MARWAN. However, I received today a phone call from GPH Panel Chair Miriam Coronel- Ferrer clarifying that although that provision can be interpreted as giving exemption, however on the operational level, prior coordination is a MUST. And this has been the operating procedure downloaded to all AFP/ PNP units.

Although I maintain the same position that prior coordination is not necessary in operations against HPT as clearly provided in the said provision, I yield to the clarification of Chair Ferrer who is now privy and authoritative on internal matters in the peace process. The Pope and climate change that dominate the global economy restrain themselves. Either way it will imply that these corporations have been irresponsible and unchristian — and idolatrous.

If the Pope’s environmental advocacy isn’t new, neither is conservative hostility. As early as 2013, some US conservatives were already describing as “pure Marxism” his description of unregulated capitalism as “the new tyranny” driven by the “idolatry of money” in his 84-page document, Evangelii Gaudium (The Joy of the Gospel) — basically the “platform” of his pontificate, which the Vatican released in November that year.

Most US conservatives being hardly intellectual giants, in addition to being spokespersons of global capitalism and US interests, their reaction was hardly unexpected.

Conservatism has a totally different meaning in the US, where even Barack Obama, despite his support from finance capital, has been described as a “socialist” on the mere strength of his State interventionist policies on such issues as health care, which in Europe and Canada have been in place for decades. With justice can one amend the term conservative in the US into “ultraconservative.”

But one would have expected, anyway, that there would be no arguing as far as the threat and reality of climate change are concerned. But the fact is that there is no lack of groups in the US, funded by various ultra-conservative organizations, that have not only been arguing that climate change is “natural,” but in some instances even claiming that it’s a “hoax.”

Tell that to the victims and survivors of the powerful typhoons, especially Yolanda, that have smashed into the Philippines and the floods that have inundated several provinces and killed tens of thousands

over the last five years (Juan, 2010; Wilma, 2011; Pablo, 2012; Yolanda 2013). Tell that to those island countries of the Pacific that have been vainly trying to cope with rising sea levels. Tell that to the European countries that have experienced record flooding over the last four years.

Try as US conservatives might to deny it, the science of climate change is fairly well established. The hour is actually late, many countries including the Philippines already exhibiting the consequences of global warming. But the industrialized countries, especially the US, have been resisting the adoption of global action that would really make some difference in the lives of the millions affected by it.

A papal encyclical — no matter the opposition of US and other conservatives in the industrialized countries of the world — just might help make a difference by mobilizing the one billion Catholics all over the globe in the enterprise of compelling the worst polluters and plunderers of the world’s resources to take responsibility for the planet.

Along the way, the Pope of the People would also be bringing the Church into the 21st century as the advocate of science that in past centuries it hasn’t been. Meanwhile, whether that encyclical would also be “pure Marxism” or not is of no consequence because labels don’t matter: whatever one’s politics — conservative, liberal or radical — everyone will be, or are already suffering from, the impact of climate change. It’s not about labels but about human survival.

DTI greening proponents converged to draft climatesmart strategies for micro, small and medium enterprises MORE than 70 of the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) regional and provincial directors and other key persons converged in Cebu City in a two-day planning meeting held February 2-3 to draft and integrate greening and environment-friendly strategies that enables micro, small & medium enterprises to be climate-change resilient and consequently increase competitiveness.

The planning activity is under the Promotion of Green Economic Development Project (ProGed), a development cooperation project jointly implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the DTI. Regional Director Marilou-Quinco-Toledo said that DTI is gearing to incorporate greening

philosophies to be adopted by the MSMEs in their schemes.

According to her, ProGeD, which was piloted in Bohol and Cebu, has expanded to 14 other provinces including Laguna and Cavite , Calabarzon’s pilot areas for greening projects on MSMEs. “Last year, some selected MSMS of Cavite and Laguna, which were identified according to their capacity to

contaminate the environment and the quantity of water and energy use, were recipients of technical assistance provided by Ecowise, a South Korean environmental consulting group”, Toledo said.

Greening means reducing the ecological impact of value chains, that is, reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions; reducing water usage and

Gawin nating inspirasyon ang disiplina ng ating mga kasundaluhan Kilala bilang hardworking, lahat ng karangalan at kaunlaran ng patuloy nilang inaani ay dala ng patriotism nila at ng kagustuhan nilang mailagay sa world map ang kanilang bayan.

Bilang isang mamamayan, ugali nila na unahin muna ang kanilang bansa.

They cherish their country and defend it with all they have, ayon sa isang social analysis na nabasa ko tungkol sa mga bansa at mamamayang Asyano.

Sa ngayon, nasa mataas na antas na sila ng sibilisasyon. Hindi sila mga war freak kundi mga civilized kahit sa pag-iisip kung saan tolerant sila ukol sa iba’t ibang pananaw, mga dahilan kung bakit creative sila sa pamumuhay.  Isa sa mga pangkasalukuyang mayayaman na bansa ang Korea. Nakapaghost na sila ng Olympics at ng FIFA World Cup, dalawang event na matutukoy na coming of age ng isang bansa kung saan ipinapakita nila ang kanilang kakayahang mag-organize ng ganito kalalaking palaro sa may kaakibat na preparasyon sa infrastructures, facilities, security at partisipasyon ng lahat na mamamayan.

Pero hindi ito kusang dumating sa kanila. Mapait na kahapon ang kanilang dinanas matapos ang World War II. Dahil sa tindi ng kahirapan na dinanas ng kanilang bansa, nagkaroon ng isang pagkakataong kinakailangan ng gobyerno nila na mangutang para maipagpatuloy nito ang serbisyo sa bayan. Isang phenomenon kung tawagin ang itinugon ng mga

mamamayan: Tiniis nila ang kanilang mga luho, inuna ang mas kailangan ng lipunan na umabot sa puntong pati ang kanilag mga hikaw at alahas ay inipon nila para maidonate sa gobyerno!

Ito yung panahon ng pasimula pa lang nila mangarap tungkol sa industrialization.

At naganap nga ang kanilang gustong mangyari at sa ngayon isa na sila sa mga lahing tinitingala sa buong mundo.  Tanging pagmamahal lamang sa kanilang bayan ang kanilang pinanghahawakan kung kaya dinisiplina nila ang kanilang mga sarili para maiangat ang kanilang bansa.  Ang kasaysayan at ang kasalukuyang lipunan ng bansang Korea ay isang learning opportunity para sa atin.

Nakikita ko na hindi lamang na kaya natin ito tularan kundi kaya pa nating lampasan kung uunahin natin ang ating pagmamahal sa ating bansa at, pangalawa, meron tayong disiplina na kayang maghandog ng sariling kaugalian para sa ikabubuti ng lahat. Ang pangatlo na hindi dapat mawala ay ang pagkakaroon ng pagkakaisa.

Ang tatlong attitudes na ito, na kung isapuso natin upang maging core values ng bawat isa, ay siyang magdidikta’t gagabay sa gawain ng bawat indibidwal.

Kung kaya nila, tayo pa kaya?

Sa una ay natatawa ako pero sa aking pag-aanalisa totoo nga na ang pagbabagong gusto natin na mangyari sa ating bansa, sa ating mundo at buhay.

Eco Patrol Quest wins community, invades air waves

Lalawigan ang kabuuan ng Eco Patrol Quest at lubos naman ang kasiyahan ng gobernadora. Very proud ang governor na sinabi pang, hidni niya akalain na may mga kabataan palang ganito na lamang kalaki ang partisipasyon sa mga programa ng pamahalaan.

Syempre pa, on the sidelines, nagkaroon na rin ng opportunity na makapagpakuha ng souvenir photo ang mga eco patrollers kasama si Gov. Vi. Samantala, para matiyak din ang malawak na pagpapakalat ng impormasyon at makuha ang mas malawak na partisipasyon ng publiko, idinagdag ng SIES ang News Patrol. Kaugnay nito, bumisita rin ang mga eco patrollers sa 95.9 AL-FM Radyo Totoo at inihanay ang kanilang eco campaign at nakuha nila ang mainit na pagtanggap at suporta ng himpilan sa pamumuno ni Fr. Nonie Dolor na siya mismong naginterview sa mga green ambassadors, kasama si Ate Lita Bicol, ang co-host sa Programang Dito Po Sa Atin.

Bukod sa pagpasok sa mainstream media, pinalakas na rin ng Eco Patrol Quest ang campaign gamit ang social media gaya ng Facebook, Twitter at Youtube.

Bilang isang kabarangay, nakatataba ng puso at talagang very proud ako sa mga batang ito. More power SIES Eco Patrollers. Tunay ngang kayo ang mga little green ambassadors ng ating lungsod.|

At ngayong taon, kapansin-pansin ang aktibong pakikipag-collaborate ng community sa kampanya ng SIES na tinatawag na ngayong Eco Patrol Quest.

Sabi nga ni Ms. Magielyn Babao, ang teacher-coordinator ng YES-O group ng school, ang environmental campaign na ito ng SIES Eco Patrollers ay naging isang magandang challenge hindi lamang sa mga estudyante kundi kasama na rin ang kanilang mga pamilya at ang buong community. Nagkataon naman na dito rin kami naninirahan sa Brgy.

San Isidro, at ang buong Barangay Council ay seryosong nakikipag-collaborate sdito sa Eco patrol Quest ng SIES. Kaya nga nitong Enero rin, kasama ng mga Eco Patrollers ang mga opisyal ng barangay at maging ang mga bombero sa kanilang tree planting.

Ang higit na nakatawag pansin sa amin ay ang pagiging creative ng mga eco patrollers at uniqueness ng kanilang kampanya upang matiyak na mas malawak pa ang maaabot ng kanilang campaign at mas maramdaman ang impact nito sa community. BATANGAS State University was recognized by the Philippine Science Consortium as the Overall Champion in the recently concluded PSC’s Math and Science Quiz Bowl (National) held at Ifugao State University on January 7-8, 2015. Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo headed the BSU delegation which brought home three champions in Chemistry Quiz Bee, Mathematics Quiz Bee and Infomercial Making Contest while the delegates of the Physics Quiz Bee placed second.
