GUIDE

Hooray! Together we make a difference. Keep up the great work!
Our three bin system is an easy and convenient way to sort recyclables, reduce what we send to landfill and turn our ‘waste’ into valuable resources.

recycling bin
FORTNIGHTLY
Our recycling is sorted into all the different recyclable materials, then sent to factories that make them into new items. For example, glass can be made into road base and plastics can be made into clothing!
RECYCLING
organics bin
WEEKLY
Food and garden waste is turned into compost in giant rows. The compost is then used by farmers and gardeners to nourish our soils and grow more food.
landfill bin
FORTNIGHTLY
We like to call it ‘the bin of last resort’ because anything placed inside is buried in a big hole. This means it can’t be recycled into something else.

RETURN AND EARN
Return and Earn is a NSW state government initiative that allows you to return eligible drink containers to an approved reverse vending machine collection point and receive a 10 cent refund per container. The program helps reduce litter and improve recycling of valuable resources.
Collect your beverage containers until you have a decent amount then bring them to Ballina’s Return and Earn reverse vending machine located at 42 De-Havilland Crescent, Ballina.
