LCT17 Grand Final Booklet - Bang Bishy Rd

INSPIRATION The initial inspiration for this look stemmed from Pantone colour of year - Greenery. Green being a colour that wouldn't usually be associated with luxurious, beautiful hair, I wanted to create an inspirational, yet unusual image using a variant of this green trend.

COLOURS

Delving deeper into Pantone collections, I came across Infusion, with its earthy but playful selection of shades. It’s a trend that would catch the eye of a wide demographic.

FASHION

With the reference of the WGSN trend - Infusion AW17/18, the heavily 1970’s influenced trends and textures seem to fit perfectly with the Pantone collection.

LIFE & STYLE

Decadent interior designs, such as rich, deep emerald tones on upholstery and curtain design. I fell in love with the way velvet fell, with its deep waves and smooth finish. In the image above, the multi shade greens become almost black depending where the light hits the fabric.

HAIR INFLUENCES

Following trends within hair and fashion. We’re seeing a lot of flat roots, or flat waves; natural textures of hair. Colour trends are moving away from classic sectioning patterns, but are heading towards texture colours, working on shine bands and contouring. These modern techniques are helping us move forward and evolve the hairdressing industry. We no longer have “hair colour” but well thought out and bespoke colour services.

THRIFT STORE AW17/18

A COLLECTION BY THE BANG ART TEAM As a salon group, we produced 7 images for LCT17 that formed an ‘Infusion’ inspired collection. Embracing the post-retro vibe that this trend offered. The overall look for my successful image (pictured left), although perfect for photographic, needed adapting to suit a more commercial, runway appeal for the Backstage live finals.

THE FINAL LOOK

My look today is fashion forward, its innovative and unique. I’ve taken inspiration from upcoming trends, but have incorporated where the colour industry is heading.

THE HAIR

I intended to achieve cascading, velvet like waves of hair, juxtaposed with a heavy, blunt fringe. The star of the show being a beautiful, green shine band that fell in line with the waves.

THE OUTFIT

On trend, muted pink tones, a daring neckline and a pleated disco skirt offer a respectful nod to 1970’s styling with a colour fade that compliments the hair. This dress was the perfect addition to complete the overall runway look. Adding nothing more than a simple strappy heel in a soft pink that matches the hem of the dress.

THE TECHNIQUE PRODUCTS USED

Global Colour of Dia Richesse 5,01 + Base 4 (1:1) 6vol, Mid-band of Blonde Studio Multi Techniques PreLightener with 6% SmartBond (in the above mixes) Colorful Hair - Iced Mint

TOP SECTION

Take diagonal back sections from the centre profile to the hair line. Each section taken to natural fall, bending halfway to overdirect. Each pre-lightened section should lay in exactly the same position as the previous section when overdirected, with the bottom blend finishing slightly lower each time. This will create a steeper V on the lower blend, and leave the higher blend less steep.

BACK PROFILE

Applying colour section by section. Roots and midband first with richesse mix, then freehand apply Multi Techniques with 6%. Using index finger and thumb, blend the two colours to soften the transition. Apply Richesse mix to ends of the hair and repeat the blending process. Take the bottom section and continue to take diagonal back sections until the centre profile parting is met. Develop for 40 minutes until the mid-bands have a yellow orange base. Apply SmartBond Step 2 for 10 mins.

SHINE BAND

On wet hair, apply Iced Mint to the pre-lightened section and develop for 30 minutes.
