Alex Haley was a boy interested in slavery. He wanted to research his ancestors who were slaves.
When Alex was older he followed his dream and RESeaRCHed HIS ANCESTORs who Were SLAVES.
He went to africa on a boat like a slave boat. he saw how the slaves were treated. they were chained with no space.
this is Alex Haley in his great great great grand father's jail cell. they kept people here until they had enough to go on the boat.
alex haley went home and wrote articles about slaves. people could read them in magazines and newspapers.
his papers got published. then he wrote the book roots and that got published and lots of people read it.
then roots got made into a movie and tv show. abc persents a 12 hour tv show of the fatastic book roots.
roots won the record of most veweirs ever. now a bunch of people are buying the book roots.
alex haley died in 1992. people still remember him and read the amazing book roots.

he is a changemaker becuse he wrote a book that helpd pepole under stand slavery and slaves,where they come from, there familys and what they had to go thru.
