3 Key Qualities:
I chose this person because... She was very loving, just like me! She had the same name as me and was a good horseback rider.
1. Loving 2. Attentive 3. Brave
Overcame a Hardship/Challenge When Clara was a child, her feelings were often hurt by older kids, so she had a hard time making friends.
If she hadn't tried to make friends, she wouldn't have had any friends in the future.
Showed Compassion and Empathy She showed compassion for many, many soldiers in the Civil War and cared for them as long as they needed.
I wonder how she took care of all those soldiers at one time!
Took Action When Clara Barton realized the soldiers needed more than brushes and combs and that they needed medicine and bandages, she gathered friends and started to work. She cared A LOT for soldiers by paying attention to how they were doing.
Persevered She was 72 when there was a flood in her hometown! She did not give up helping people find a new home!
If I were Clara I would've just given up. She is very loving because she never gave up helping people feel safe, even when she was 72 .
Impact: How Things are Different Today Clara had changed the world the creating the Red Cross and inspiring others to take care of each other.
Viewed Problems as Opportunities The problem is that nobody was taking care of the soldiers, so Clara viewed this as an opportunity to take care of someone.
Demonstrated Bravery Clara walked into the war and walked out with bloody soldiers and blood on her body.
She was very brave to actually go onto the battle field because she could've gotten shot.
