Drew Brees (1979–)

he winS

Do you know someone who seems to win all the awards and break all the records? It’s easy to be jealous of successful people.

Drew Brees is the quarterback for the New Orleans Saints. Some people might be jealous of Drew. He has won more awards than he can probably remember. He has broken more records than you can probably name.

It might surprise you to know that Drew’s parents divorced when he was young. His mom didn’t stay close to her kids. Drew was discouraged as a teenager. He wondered if he had a purpose. It seemed as if everything that could go wrong went wrong.

That’s when Drew gave his future to Jesus. He knew it was time to really follow Him. Drew would later say, “All I have to do is just give my best, commit the rest to Him. Everything else is taken care of. That takes the weight off anybody’s shoulders. . .you’ve got somebody looking out for you.”

Drew could have been jealous of people who had both parents in the same house, or someone who was very close to their mom, or maybe even of people who just always seemed to know what God wanted them to do with their lives.

Spend your time wisely. Second Thessalonians 3:11 says, “Some are. . .spending their time trying to see what others are doing.”

Do things that God wants you to do and you won’t have time to be jealous of others. Learn from God, and you can learn to cheer when someone does a good job.

You still live as men who are not Christians. When you are jealous and fi ght with each other, you are still living in sin and acting like sinful men in the world.
