Some people get angry when things don’t work out the way they want. That doesn’t really describe Sam Bradford.
Sam plays football. He loves it. He expects to win. He scores points, breaks records, and wins awards. You would think that means he’s a pretty intense guy. Many people who have played football with Sam think of him as calm and cool under pressure. He says there’s something that helped: “My parents just realized that we were missing something in our lives. They realized that it was time for us as a family to start going to church.”
That choice helped Sam learn about Jesus so he could accept His rescue. Jesus has become very important to Sam, and Sam shares his faith.
Sam didn’t push his way to the front to get a football scholarship out of state. He grew up in Oklahoma, and the University of Oklahoma offered him a scholarship. He worked hard and became their quarterback. In his second year of college, he won the Heisman Trophy. When he graduated, he was one of the fi rst players picked to play in the National Football League.
Sam quietly does his job. Colossians 3:23 says, “Whatever work you do, do it with all your heart. Do it for the Lord and not for men.” Sam believes he has one boss, and he tries to do his best for God.
Sam isn’t worried about the future. He knows that after he has done all he can, God still calls him His child.
Men become right with God by putting their trust in Jesus Christ. God will accept men if they come this way.
