Greetings friends and cattlemen, and welcome to the fifth edition of the DreamWorks Elite Female Sale. Another 12 months have come and gone, and with that the seasons for calving and for breeding, to plant and to harvest, and we could not be more excited to share with you the fruits of our labor. It sounds cliche but, unsurprisingly, we believe this to be the best sale offering we have assembled to date. That is a statement we take very seriously though, because as seedstock producers we consider it our duty to our customers and to the industry as a whole to raise our best ever calf crop each and every year. We must continually raise our own standards to remain competitive in this business and to ensure the same for those who trust us as their genetic source.
Many things have changed over the past five years but the way we do business has not. Just like the first DreamWorks sale these are the absolute top sort of approximately 200 females, exclusively home raised, generated by our program annually. We are proud to offer to our customers each year the very best our program has to offer and nothing has been cherry picked. Each female sells in her entirety and although the temptation is great, we do not retain any flushes or embryo interest. When you make the investment in an NFF female you get her all, no strings attached. Finally and perhaps most importantly, we are proud to stand behind our product 100% and provide the best customer service in the region. If we can be of assistance with anything from nutrition, health and breeding strategies to show preparations and presentation please do not hesitate to contact us. We take great pride in the quality of the stock offered in this catalog as well as the tradition of excellence they represent. But without a doubt the greatest asset we have at Nelson Family Farms is our customers, many of whom have become great friends, and everyone who supports our program year after year. The livestock business is unlike any other in the camaraderie that we share and the manner in which that bond is passed from one generation to the next. We are honored to play a small role in that legacy, and greatly appreciate everyone who has chosen to be a part of the past, present, and future of Nelson Family Farms and the DreamWorks events. Thank you all,

Joe Nelson is a very simple and common name only rivaled by Joe Smith. However, when one engages in a livestock conversation that focuses on auction markets, feeder cattle, and harvest ready cattle alike, there arises only one Joe Nelson. That Joe Nelson is the foundation and backbone of Nelson Family Farms and its many enterprises, but you will never hear him tell the story like that. The Nelson family shares in the growth of their livestock business with Joe and Barb in the leadership and advisory role they are quick to admit that Matt’s family oversees the feedlot and that Gabe and Kayla oversee the seedstock side with all parties tying all the loose ends together. It’s very easy for us to say that you all need to be in Decorah, Iowa on the 3rd of December to support a true agriculturally enriched and supported family. They are believers in the “live auction” method with zero questions. The family has made a good living in the commission business due to second to none integrity, customer service, and the understanding of true price discovery. The livestock marketplace has been very good in most parts of the country across all species, but the show heifer and higher end bred heifer / cow market has been quite impressive both live and internet settings. We have witnessed prices on the top end like we have not seen since the 1980’s when the tax laws were written in favor of those extraordinary investments, yet at the same time we have witnessed cattle that have been purchased below their value as well with certainty of seeing those cattle on the top end next summer and fall. The Shannon Welsh Family invested in the NFF program a year ago with a very positive outcome in the end with several division and top 20 appearances. Very suiting since the Welsh family is very similar to the Nelson’s with a progressive farming and cattle operation minus the commission yard, but still good families doing good business with one another. Gabe, along with his right-hand Abe, are very passionate about the business. For the longest time Gabe has had a plan in mind with last year’s set of stock allowing for some unveiling to the future. We are certain as you evaluate this set, you should take notice of the maintained look and presence with improved running gear and a broader cross section to select from. The overflow on the opens will continue to filter into the bred offering as they push forward and in time, like most aggressive outfits, each and every one will demand top dollar. Nelson Family Farms has a breeding program, they have a productive, working cowherd, and an established bull market, this is not an online sale offering from a young kid trying to get a start with trader stock from those that wish to not put the time and effort in a marketing endeavor. This is a true, generational outfit that has been there done that and they continue to do it with improvement annually. Sure, they have the upper hand in today’s world being generational, but each generation has had the grit, the vision, and the ability to engage in what the one before them did so successfully so that they continue to win in their agricultural endeavor and life itself. December 3 is the day that we will offer the 2021 inventory of open heifers and breds from this truly elite family operation. On this day your family will have the opportunity to engage with and invest in a program, a program that is passionate about your youth exhibitors and earning your business. Gabe and Kayla stand ready to assist you in anyway and are always available for conversation regarding this offering of females or about previous acquisitions from their program. Please consider this your invitation to join us for the 2021 edition of DreamWorks, if you cannot make Friday evening, then please contact anyone with NFF to schedule a visit to the farm leading up to the auction. They understand and know the value of customer service and will do whatever possible to accommodate the many busy schedules in today’s fast paced world. Also, feel free to reach out to the Innovation Ag Marketing team with any questions about this year’s offering.
Your interest is appreciated, and we hope that you enjoy the stock.

RCC-NFF Wicked - 2009 NAILE Grand
VCL LKC Equity 608D - $70,000 Sire
Champion SimAngus Female J208 & J095 – It is no secret what the Wicked cow family has done over the past decade for countless seedstock operations. The initiating pair of flush mate sisters are maternal granddaughters of the prolific matriarch, RCC-NFF Wicked, the NAILE Grand Champion SimAngus Female that Kayla showed in 2009. A maternal sister topped the Simmental division in 2019 at $12,500 to Lazy H Cattle of Ventura, Iowa. This year’s offering is comprised of 5 maternal sisters from the great NFF Wicked A154 matriarch. We begin with J208 and J095, sired by the $70,000 VCL LKC Equity 608D. Equity is the stylish baldy son of the $400,000 Profit that is a direct son of the $114,000 BF Miss Crysteel Tango matriarch that is a member of the Kersten Cattle Company donor battery. This duo has been blessed with the elite presence and perfectly etched white face that we can only wish each of them was born with. J208 has already seen the big city lights and sells with backdrop exposure. She was selected as the 2021 MN State Fair Calf Champion and Reserve Grand Champion Purebred Simmental Female this summer. Pay close attention to these flush mate sisters, they are bred in the purple to say the very least!

NFF Wicked J114
J125, J114, & J091 – During the Spring of 2020 we sampled a new bull that no one had heard off, and we certainly had not seen from a recommendation. Fast forward to January 2021 and SO Remedy 7F hit the scene in dominant fashion when he sold for a record setting $530,000 for 1/2 Interest in the Embryos on Snow sale in Oklahoma City. He was one of the most talked about and admired bulls in all of OKC and was selected as the 2021 Cattlemen’s Congress Grand Champion Purebred Simmental Bull later in the week. Now it all makes sense why Gabe was so excited to start calving recips later that month! We proudly present a trio of daughters sired by the great SO Remedy 7F that are backed by one of the key matriarchs in our donor pen, NFF Wicked A154! J125 sets the stage for power, substance, dimension, and body mass. She is the February born sister that sets down on extra circumference of foot and bone. We love the body shape that these sisters offer because they are soft made but offer the round upper rib cage that facilitates for more shape and dimension down the backside of their skeleton. These sisters are STOUT and have the performance, structural integrity, and eye appeal that we only hoped for when we flushed A154 to Remedy. The newest, the hottest, and the most cutting-edge genetics from NFF!

J086 and J102 are another standout pair of flush sisters that are sired by the $530,000 SO Remedy 7F stud. They too are backed by generations of elite cow family on the bottom side of their lineage, tracing to the immortal 418P. Ruby NFF Rhythm 702E is sired by Ruby SWC Battle Cry 431B, the MR HOC Broker son of the great SWC Ruby Yetti 143Y. 702E is further supported by the Silveiras Style 9303 influence via Ruby NFF Rhythm Y1201. We have admired these flush sisters from early on due to the structural integrity, squareness of build, length of side, and real-world performance that they are able to combine in a neat made, feminine design. J086 defines the phrase COW POWER when it comes to stoutness, body shape, and fleshing ease. J102 is the more extended, sleek fronted, long spined female that reads with exceptional future. Pick your poison… they’re both the money making kind!

2021 IL District Series Reserve Supreme Overall - Full Sister
2021 MN State Fair Grand Champion Purebred Simmental - Full Sister
NFF Miss Design J234 and NFF Miss Design J252 are flush mate sisters sired by WLE Big Deal A617 and backed by the rising star in the donor pen, NFF Miss Design F103. FULL SISTERS to the 2020 DreamWorks high selling female, NFF Miss Design H036, who topped the sale at $20,750 to the Welsh family of Illinois. H036 has endured a tremendous run on the tan bark for Gracyn Welsh and family, with several wins at home in Illinois, where she was selected as the 2021 IL Simmental Preview Show Reserve Grand Champion Female. H036 was also selected as the Reserve Grand Champion Overall Female at the 2021 IL District Show Series. She continued her winning ways through the summer where she was selected Third Overall at the 2021 AJSA South Central Regional Show in Springfield, MO and most recently was slapped Grand Champion Purebred at the 2021 MN State Fair Open Show. We firmly believe in this mating and as they say, “the proof is in the pudding”. J234 and J252 are carbon copies of their big sister, with bright futures ahead!

J004 & J005 – We initiate the Angus open heifer division with a pair of flush mate sisters that are backed by the matriarch of our donor battery, PVF Ellen 405. A dynamic duo that sets the standard for balance, presence, and future! A full sister, NFF Ellen H158 sold for $9,750 in last year’s sale to Collin Muller of Osage, Iowa. The Follow Me x 405 mating has continuously been a favorite of ours and based on the quality of this pair you can see why. There is no denying the structural integrity, body mass, and presence that this duo possesses. The dam of J004 and J005 is the prolific PVF Ellen 405 matron, the dam of NFF T/R Ellen F181, the popular and dominant Insight daughter campaigned by Caroline Mayer during the 2019 show season. Her most notable victory came in Louisville, KY when she was slapped Division V Junior Champion Owned Heifer at the National Junior Angus Show. Follow Me has remained one of the hottest and most exciting new Angus sires in the business. The most difficult decision you will have to make on sale day is which one of these sisters better suites you… bid with confidence!

Who says a successful show heifer can’t raise one? Certainly not the case here! Ladies and gentlemen, we couldn’t be more excited about the next female that is from the great NFF T/R Ellen F181. F181 was successfully campaigned by the Mayer family during the 2019 show season. She was the Division V Champion at the 2019 NJAS in Louisville, Kentucky and was admired by some of the most critical. J089 is a late January female that we admire for her flexibility, looseness of build, and athletic stride. She is extra stout about bone work, square built, and offers a bold maternal turn and sweep to her center body. Additionally, she has been blessed with a high-quality hair coat that only adds to her overall style. Help yourself on the third of December!

The lone Red Angus within our 2021 offering, but one that we certainly believe will be a contender within her breed. J035 is sired by the widely popular EGL GCC Red Eagle E7194, the exciting young promotional sire that was produced in the Eagle Pass Ranch program at Highmore, South Dakota. J035 is smooth jointed, flexible at the surface, bold in her rib cage, and offers a wide square pin set. We have begun to assemble a small group of Red Angus females to diversify our offering. Pay attention here… this one is for real!

We are bringing you a trio of the best Wicked A154 daughters we have perhaps ever been assembled for this bred female offering. All three of these females exemplify why the Wicked legacy will forever be an integral part of the Simmental operation at Nelson Family Farms. Paternally there are two different options however we think this points to the maternal power and consistency that comes through the inclusion of Wicked A154 in a pedigree. The phenotypic design of the cattle is ideal, they are super eye appealing, faultless on the move and have an extra degree of density and shape when compared to the contemporary group. Each year we hold ourselves to offering opportunities that allow success for our customers, it was difficult to sift all three of these Purebred sisters into the sale pen but here they are, we are letting you pick your poison between the sires of Relentless and High Regard. Alternatively you could use their calving dates as a decision maker if you cannot pick your favorite in the pen.

We realize that the Yardley High Regard W242 bull is a little older than some of the other popular sire choices that are currently being used, but when it comes down to it we think his ability to sire eye appeal and structural integrity in an outcross package could possibly be unparalleled. Here we have a Purebred female that is supported by a role model Wicked descendant, she is actually the grand dam to lot 105 also. She is bred to our resident herd sire NFF Northstar G125, a GSC GCCO Dew North 102C son who was our pick of the 2019 bull calf crop.

A high percentage Angus female that is built just how we like them, she is great in her structural design, with flexible joints and reads with productivity and easy keeping in mind. The PVF Insight cattle are well received across the various sectors of the Angus business, the daughter’s milk and their udder set up leaves nothing to be further desired. We expect H140 to only add to the reputation these Insight daughters have built for maternal greatness. Safe to NFF Northstar G125, ASA#3721417 due 3/8/22.

ZKCC Easy Rider 601D has proven to be a monumental addition to the herd sire battery here at Nelson Family Farms, we purchased Easy Rider along with his two full brothers, Lo Boy and Big Chief from our friend Zach Kraenow, they are result of crossing WS Pilgrim H182U on his ZKCC Whitney 157Y donor. By securing these three full brothers we are excited to see the consistency and reliability that these maternally orientated genetics will breed with and how they will influence our cowherd for years to come. This group of Percentage and Purebred females all go back to cow families from the heart of our program, and deserve your evaluation. Notice the mating sires on this group, the opportunity to raise high percentage progeny this first year could yield return on investment, quickly.

The JSAR Titan cattle are extra powerful and rugged, we like our Angus cattle with some extra punch and for that reason we really enjoy looking at RTM/CF Juana Penny H002 as she struts around the pen. We have Penny bred up to the Stevenson Turning Point sire that adds look and style without sacrificing the beef production traits that drive our industry. We think that the opportunity to raise both Angus and percentage cattle out of H002 is exciting.

It is females like Ms. Final Answer H146, that keep cattle producers in the business she is so complete, and maternal in her make up, pedigree wise I don’t know how we could make her much better either. The Lazy JB Sundance 6428 sire is one of the Angus breeds most under-utilized, we have seen his influence add capacity, power and maternal. A great brood cow prospect, many cattlemen keep turning to Eathington Sub-Zero as a calving ease sire at the breeding box, and we agree with this methodology. These females are big bodied and correct, an impressive PVF Insight dam supports Charlotte H032 maternally.
