HEAD COACH SIAN OSMOND
SIAN OSMOND
Sian, thank you for joining me. We have our first home league game of the season on Sunday against Keynsham Town, what are you expecting from that one?
We have signed a few players since our last match with Keynsham Town. What have you said to the girls and what are you expecting from them this season?
“We are obviously really excited to be back at The Hive London and have fans back. It is something that we have been waiting for a very long time, so it is going to be great to enjoy the fixture and have some people around to watch.
“We are really lucky to have signed Nikki Jancey and Sabiha Jamal who are both attacking players that are really exciting to have on board.
“This is obviously a bit of an odd one because we are playing the same team back-to-back, but I think it is a good opportunity to go and test ourselves again against a good side that gave us a really good run out last weekend. Hopefully we can get ourselves a result this time.” Unfortunately, we lost the reverse fixture 2-0, but we did show a lot of fight and determination throughout the second half. What are you looking to see from the girls on Sunday? “The same fight and determination need to be there. That is the minimum requirement of what we expect here. It is the hard work and togetherness within the group that is the minimum standard. “We started to show a lot more of our quality in the second half, which was better to see. We started to threaten a bit more as the game went on and that is just something that we are looking to see more of against Keynsham.”
“They are both very different to what we have in the group which gives us that versatility and the ability to do a little bit more as well as potentially change the game a bit more. “I cannot wait to start working with them. They have been great and really hard-working for a few weeks now and the decision was obvious for us to try and get them on board.” On Sunday, the Bees fans will finally return to The Hive London. What is your message for them? Thank you for sticking with us! Through the pandemic, it has been a difficult time for a lot of people, and we are just so excited to see people back at stadiums. We saw a few friendly faces in Keynsham, which is miles away, so it was fantastic that they were there, and I hope to see them again at the weekend!

Forfar Farmington have announced that they are withdrawing from the SWPL due to a lack of players. The side had been part of the top tier of women’s football in Scotland since 2005, when they were an amateur club.
WSL side West Ham United have snapped up Yui Hasegawa from AC Milan.
The side were beaten 10-0 by second division Dundee United in their first match of the season in the SWPL Cup last weekend.
The 24 year old Japan international has signed a two year deal with the club. She moves to east London on the back of featuring at this summers’ Olympic Games, held in Tokyo, in her home country.
The side will be replaced by Partick Thistle in the League.
She featured in two of Japan’s group stage games – a 1-1 draw with Canada and 1-0 defeat by Great Britain, as well as their 3-1 quarter final defeat by Sweden. She started out her career at Nippon TV Beleza, scoring 11 times in 114 appearances, before scoring 3 times in 9 outings for Milan, signing for the Italians at the beginning of this year.
