WRITES
Good evening all and a very warm welcome back to The Hive London.
I would like to extend that welcome to Graham Alexander, his staff, the officials and supporters of Salford City for this Vanarama National League fixture. Saturday was a great win for us at Barrow, the boys played very well. Barrow had started off brightly and moved the ball very well but we knew they would as we knew how they play. We thought we’d sit deep and try to frustrate them, which we did. Eventually, as we broke out, we created so many chances. Second half, we were in total control and it was a really good victory for us.
Salford are our visitors today and it will be a good test for us, but there will never be an easy game, it doesn’t matter who you play. They’re having a good season, they’ve got some very good players, have invested well and have got a very good manager.
And to the 70 supporters who made the trip up, you were fantastic! Nobody knows what the weather is going to be like up there, it was very cold. I’d like to shake everybody’s hand that made the journey, to follow your club up is fantastic support and I really do thank every single one of them.

I look forward to the game, I think we’re in a place where we’re happy to play anybody at the moment. Enjoy the game,

CAPTAIN’S NOTES
SKIPPER’S
NOTES
Hello everyone and welcome back to The Hive London for tonight’s league game against Salford City! I was very happy to finally get back out on to the pitch and make my debut for Barnet on Saturday. It was also nice to do it with a win and a clean sheet. It was brilliant to see so many Barnet fans on the terraces in Barrow on a very cold day, it was massively appreciated by the boys and your support really does go a long way.
Hopefully, that support can be replicated tonight. Salford City have started the season well, and it’s not surprising with the players that they have brought in. A lot has been said about their investment, but you have got to sign the right players and they have done that.
They’ve signed quality from this league as well as from leagues above and below and that’s been showing on the pitch, but hopefully, it won’t tonight of course! Come on you Bees!

1940 Securing Non-League Status
02
In 1979, after a decade of success, we took our first major step towards securing our status in non-league football. The players and committee took on the task of restoring our present Moor Lane ground. The pitch was in poor condition, the main stand roofless and derelict. Working all hours the challenge was met head-on and Moor Lane was passed as acceptable for entry to the Cheshire League in 1980.
1982 Becoming ‘Salford City’
04
Salford appeared in the Manchester County Premier Cup FInal at Old Trafford in 1989 and the same season saw floodlights installed at Moor Lane and dropping off our Amateurs tag become Salford City.
1990 12
Founded in 1940
The club was formed in 1940 as Salford Central. We progressed steadily through local leagues until in 1963 we stepped up to the Manchester League and changed the name to Salford Amateurs. Nicknamed “The Ammies”. the club became a real force in the 1970s Winning the Lancashire Amateur Cup in ‘73, ’75, and ‘77. All the Manchester County Cups and the league title came our way and in one season of note seven major trophies sat with pride in our trophy cabinet. The ultimate prize - Champion of Champions - was secured in 1977.
1979 03
North West Counties
When the North West Counties League was formed in 1982 with the amalgamation of the Lancashire Combination and the Cheshire League the foresight of upgrading the ground bore fruit and Salford seized the opportunity of joining football’s non-league pyramid. The transition hasn’t always been easy but with the re-organisation into two divisions, we eventually took our place in Division One.
1989 05
Salford Turns 50
In 1990, we celebrated our fiftieth year by entering the FA Cup for the first time and received national exposure on BBC Television’s Grandstand’s “Road to Wembley” feature. Unfortunately, relegation followed the same season.

With League restructuring in 1992, we regained our place in Division One and with ex-Manchester United starlet Billy Garton in charge we finished ninth, out highest league position. The following years have seen improvement on this and under Andy Brown we finished third (on goal difference) missing out on promotion only in the last few games as well as again reaching the final of the Premier Cup. The last few seasons, under manager Gary Fellows, saw the club established itself as one of the dominant sides in the Vodkat League West Counties League having won the League Challenge Cup in 2006.
2008 2012/13 Season
08
During the 2012-2013 season, the early form was good under ex-professional Sheridan but he left the club in January and a disappointing second half of the campaign finished with Salford occupying the sixteenth place in the league. Under the guidance of Andy Heald Salford also reached the final of the Manchester Premier Cup but a stirring comeback against Mossley at Stockport’s Edgeley Park ground was not enough as the Lilywhites triumphed in a penalty shoot-out following a 2-2 draw.

Promotion to the Unibond League
At the end of season 2007-2008, the club’s immediate ambition of stepping up to the Unibond League was finally achieved when a second promotion spot from the Vodkat League became available. During the following seasons, Salford’s place in the fourth level of the English non-league game was consolidated with chairman Darren Quick. Rhodri Giggs, Darren Sheridan & Andy Heald having spells in the Moor Lane managerial hot seat.
2013 09
Class of ‘92 takeover
Phil Power arrived as manager at the start of the 2013-2014, initially in partnership with Barry Massay but it was to be events off the pitch dominated the campaign. Club president Dave Russell was contacted by five members of Manchester United’s Class of 92’ side with the aim of exploring a possible takeover at Moor Lane. The five - Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Phil Neville & Paul Scholes were determined to ‘put something back’ into local football and wanted to do so in an area that reflected their early training and development

Managed by Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley, they won 22 of their 42 games and finished in fourth position with 77 points. Mike Phenix was top scorer with 15 goals. Salford were unlucky to lose on penalties after a 2-2 draw on aggregate with Halifax in the play-off semi-final.
2017/18 Salford City won the Conference North title in 2017-18. The newly-named Peninsula Stadium was unveiled by Sir Alex Ferguson in October. Salford gained a thrilling 4-4 draw at Kidderminster Harriers, also scoring four goals at home to North Ferriby and Blyth Spartans. The Ammies clinched the title with one match left to play, winning 28 of their 42 games and gaining 91 points, finishing six ahead of runners-up Harrogate. Jack Redshaw was leading marksman with 17 goals as they won promotion to the Conference National for the first time in their history. Joint-managers Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley resigned shortly after the end of the season.

ALEX JONES DIGRESSES SALFORD
Walking on Sunshine
STILL THE ONE
Once again a team is here who have never played Barnet in their history. A fairly quiet existence it was as well, until the association with some Manchester United old boys. Already they have risen to the top of the National League.
As well as victory for their Old Boys, the Walking Football team continued to raise money, with a recent board games evening, and a Middlesex Round Robin event scheduled for the end of this month. They have a Facebook page, of course, so study the pictures, which are as photogenic as ever.
Just recently I had a surprising conversation with Canon Dewi Roberts, the minister at my local church. We often talk about football, as he follows the Swans. Yet he has his own Barnet connection. His daughter Sian, and John Still’s girl Alison are good friends as are the men’s son in laws, small world indeed.
CLASSICAL GAS
ALWAYS LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE
Class of 92 Doubtless, many Bees fans will be scanning for a glimpse of Salford’s celebrity owners this afternoon. The BBC seemed to be inordinately fond of them with regards coverage in 2015, but they thoroughly deserved the 2-0 victory over Notts County and also pressed Hartlepools hard. How many could have foreseen that United and Salford would be League opponents just a few years later? Not Jeff Stelling for sure. Barnet travelled to Old Trafford a few years later and learned the disadvantage of having your keeper sent off in the first few minutes. My first visit to the stadium had been to see Germany defeat my second team Croatia, and I was also to see the West Indies lose to Australia in a similar international fixture the following year. Most bizarre was to see the FA Cup Semi-Final between the Arsenal and Tottenham, but the correct result was achieved, just as well given the lack of sleep sending North London that far.

Awoke this morning to the news that we have an FA Cup first round tie against Bristol Rovers. There will be countless previous meetings to recall that day, but first of all, some trivia that only the most committed Gashead may be aware of. Bristol Rovers Ladies most famous former player is one Anya Shrubsole. If the name seems familiar- she was rightly named one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year. Her 6-46 completely transformed the World Cup Final versus India and made England World Champions in 2017. Bath-born Anya also played for Rovers in her youth. Whilst on the subject of Women’s Football, belated congratulations to former London Bee Emma Kayser. She and TJ celebrated the birth of little Laeka. Emma was born and brought up in Burnt Oak. A mean cricketer herself, Miss Kayser captained her school Woodcroft’s boys and girls with distinction, and captioned photos of Laeka as a Brown Eyed Girl, possibly in tribute to Van the Man, but also daughter closely resembles mum.

Eric Idle is promoting his autobiography, and the former Python recalled singing the hit song on Top of the Pops. On the rival Network Chart, the tune even reached Number One, thanks partly to the remix which lamented a fixture where your team is losing heavily at home to Barnet. Personally, I preferred his hit with the Rutles I Must Be in Love.

DANIELE ACCURSO
A FOOT IN BOTH CAMPS BY DANIELE ACCURSO DUE TO SALFORD’S QUITE SPECTACULAR RISE UP THE FOOTBALL PYRAMID AND THE MASSIVE GEOGRAPHICAL DISTANCE BETWEEN THEM AND US, IT COMES AS LITTLE SURPRISE THAT THE TWO CLUBS HAVEN’T HAD MANY MUTUAL PLAYERS. WITH ONLY MAX CROCOMBE BEING A MUTUAL CONTACT, ONCE AGAIN TODAY I’LL ALSO BE REVIEWING BARNET’S SEASON THUS FAR.

A player many Bees fans would be forgiven for not remembering, Max Crocombe played for us back in the Football League under then-manager Martin Allen. Starting off his senior career with Buckingham Town, Max soon joined Oxford United at just 17-years of age in 2010 as a youth scholar. Max was loaned out to a whole host of clubs to gain experience during his six-year spell with Oxford, one of which happened to be us! Earning valuable experience whilst on loan at Banbury United and Nuneaton Town, Max built on these experiences by getting Football League experience with us at The Hive. Arriving on a one-month loan deal, the New Zealander made five appearances for the Bees due to regular first-team ‘keeper Graham Stack being out injured and Jamie Stephens suspended after receiving a red card in a 3-1 away loss to Portsmouth. After his time with us, Crocombe went on to feature for Southport (on loan), make a further two appeances for Oxford United (meaning he played a total of 6 times for the U’s) and sign for Carlisle where he failed to play a single minute during the 2016/17 season. The two-time capped New Zealand international is now playing for our visitors; having signed for Salford at the start of the 2017/18 campaign, Crocombe was an important figure during the club’s promotion to the National League but is now playing second-fiddle to summer signing Chris Neal. Crocombe’s had some brilliant moments for Salford City but one which will catch people’s attention is the red card he received in his side’s 2-1 win against Bradford Park Avenue. On the 87th minute, after controlling the desperate urge to urinate for some time, Max could not hold on any longer and eventually relieved himself, with the act unfortunately spotted by a spectator who made a formal complaint which saw the ‘keeper be sent off. That’ll be a story to look back on and tell the grandchildrend! BARNETFC.COM
DANIELE ACCURSO
BARNET’S SEASON IN REVIEW The last-time I wrote a review of our season was against Solihull Moors and much has happened since. Our league encounter with Sutton United on the 13th October was postponed as the hosts were instead competing in the Irn Bru Cup, where they lost in the Third Round to Irish side Bohemians 4-3 on penalties after a 0-0 draw during normal time. Our rearranged fixture with the South London side was meant to take place on 10th November but this too has subsequently been postponed due to both clubs progressing to the first round of the FA Cup! Barnet faced tough opposition in the 4th and final round of qualifying for the first round proper. Although sat in bottom spot in the National League, Braintree Town were not a side to take lightly. After sacking Brad Quinton and replacing him with the experienced figure of Hakan Hayrettin, The Irons were on the hunt for another positive result, having just drawn away to table toppers and today’s visitors Salford City. Having led by two-goals-to-nil after 20 minutes, Braintree pegged us back to two-all before strikes from Elliot Johnson and Cheye Alexander settled the tie once and for all. We now await a visit from League One outfit, and our promotion rivals from the 2014/15 season, Bristol Rovers in the first round of the cup. It has been confirmed that the fixture will take place on Sunday 11th November at 12.45, with games set to be televised and commentated on now being confirmed. Sitting in 20th position in League One at the time of writing, the cup will be a welcome distraction for Darrell Clarke’s side who have been in poor form so far (by their standards) meaning a cup upset could be on the cards! Turning back to the league, Barnet once again won on Saturday away to midtable Barrow. Ian Evatt has his side well drilled and playing some decent stuff so to come away with such a convincing victory will please all those involved. Wesley Fonguck notched yet another goal, whilst on-loan striker Manny Duku netted his first for the club, and the first of many I presume. The 70 Barnet fans who made the long, arduous trip to Barrow have to be commended, especially with all the train strikes taking place making the journey even tougher than usual. Two league wins on the trot and three in all competitions mean we come into tonight’s fixture full of confidence, and we’ll need every bit of it when taking on a high-flying Salford City side, currently under the tutelage of Graham Alexander.

MATCH REPORT
Barnet progress to the First Round of the FA Cup after beating fellow National League outfit Braintree Town at The Hive this weekend. David Tutonda opened the scoring in the early stages before Jack Taylor made it two just past the 15 minute mark. Barnet looked to have taken a two-goal lead into halftime but Reece Grant pulled one back for the visitors moments before the break. Lyle Della-Verde levelled the scores on 66 minutes before Elliott Johnson marked his return from injury with a goal to regain Barnet’s lead. The outcome was settled six minutes from time when Cheye Alexander’s first goal for the club guaranteed progression to Round One. John Still named an unchanged side that beat Solihull 2-0 in their previous encounter two weeks ago. Dave Tarpey joined goal scorer Johnson on the bench following spells out with injury. A scorching afternoon in North London saw The Bees get off to a flyer after taking the lead with just six minutes on the clock. Josh Walker fizzed in a low ball across goal from the right which missed Manny Duku but Tutonda was on hand to smash home at the far post. However, The Iron could have bagged themselves an equaliser soon after when a Jon Muleba cross was cleared out to Cameron James whose strike from distance whistled over the bar. The missed chance proved costly as The Bees went up the other end and doubled their advantage. After Duku’s blocked effort fell to Taylor, the Barnet number 12 made no mistake from close range and nestled the back of the net. Moments later, Walker bombed down the left before cutting inside and letting rip from inside the area but his effort was well saved by Ben Killip who dived to his near post.
Braintree’s number 25 did find his name on the scoresheet on the stroke of half-time though as he scrambled the ball over the line to half the deficit going into the break. Charlee Adams found Cheye Alexander 13 minutes into the second period but after the full-back cut inside and let fly from the edge of the area, his effort could only find a Braintree defender. Up the other end and Grant had a real chance to net his brace. After he was played through on goal, his halfvolley forced Cousins into a spectacular save to maintain his side’s lead. However, The Iron did find an equaliser soon after as Muleba’s cross from the right found Della-Verde who volleyed the ball home from close range. The Bees tried to regain their advantage minutes later but Adams’ strike from distance took a huge deflection, flying wide of the post. With just over 15 minutes remaining, substitute Jack Barham missed a golden opportunity to put the hosts back in front after failing to convert a low Taylor cross from close range. However, Barnet did regain their lead on 79 minutes when Alexander floated in a delightful ball before substitute Johnson nodded in at the far post. The Bees made sure of their place in the next round after Alexander’s low free-kick from outside the box beat Killip in the Braintree net. Barnet now have to wait until Monday’s draw to find out who they will be playing in Round One.
Braintree’s Kodi Lyons-Foster picked up the first booking of the game after a foul on Tutonda but when Taylor struck the resulting free-kick, his attempt fell just wide of the post. The visitors had a chance to pull one back on 36 minutes when Grant was played through on goal. However, his first-time shot from the edge of the box was well saved by Mark Cousins. 37

MATCH REPORT
First half strikes from Manny Duku and Wes Fonguck help the Bees to a 2-0 win at Barrow. Ian Evatt’s hosts missed a key chance to go ahead early on. Dan Jones was denied by a great save by Mark Cousins away to his left and, from the followup play, Tyler Smith headed just wide. The Bees took the lead in the 16th minute when Jack Taylor played a ball over the top to Josh Walker, he lost his marker before squaring to Manny Duku who slotted home from close range for his first Barnet goal. Duku would later head over from close range before Erico Sousa’s curled effort was headed away by Craig Robson. Barnet doubled their lead in the 36th minute when Wes Fonguck brought the ball forward 30 yards with the defence stepping off him, before curling a shot delightfully into the bottom right, his fifth goal of the season. In the second half, the Bees could have added more, Robson failed to get on the end of Fonguck’s low cross. David Tutonda played through Walker moments later, but he prodded just wide from close range. In the 62nd minute, Callum Reynolds was subbed on for his Bees debut and was soon followed by Dave Tarpey, back in competitive action for the first time since September 2017. Elliott Johnson forced a save at the near post from Andrew Firth prior to Fonguck firing a half-volley on the turn over the bar. Firth was called into action late on when once again Fonguck created space for a shot but the Barrow keeper turned it around the post.

TAKING THE MIC
UNKNOWN PLEASURES The recent presentation made to Bees super-fan Steve Percy got me thinking.
The recent presentation made to Bees super-fan Steve Percy got me thinking. Not so much about his landmark streak of attending 2,000 Barnet games in a row. Or of his 1,363 consecutive home games across league and cup (with a fair few friendlies to throw in for good measure) across a 50 year period. Don’t get me wrong. Both numbers reflect unbelievable displays of devotion and loyalty through thick and thin. And, maybe just maybe, Steve indeed deserves a statue in his honour as the Only Barnet forum suggests. No, instead it is about the one that got away at Enfield, on a snowy Boxing Day 1981, in a match that was off and then – bizarrely – on again. It prompted me on a couple missed opportunities - or in this case wasted trips – I have been through in my own time. The first was a ten hour round trip to Berwick for what proved to be the only game in the English or Scottish leagues called off that day. So warm and dry was the weather that I didn’t bother to check with the club beforehand. Bad mistake. Admittedly, that pales in comparison alongside a faux pas by my former announcing colleague Dick Rolfe. As Dick tells it, back in the Sixties he and a pal wanted to see the Bees in Southern League action at Wellington Town. This was the same club that eventually became Telford United, but Dick and partner mistakenly headed to the other Wellington.

Needless to say, all seemed strangely quiet when they arrived in the small Somerset town. After driving around in circles, they eventually asked a bemused local where the ground was. It was only at that point that they realised that they were 162 miles wide of the mark! I felt nearly as bad when I drove – family in tow – up to Macclesfield for a game back in ’98-99. After major delays en route, I was delighted to finally close in on Moss Rose at around 2.50, only to see streams of fans heading away from the ground. Then it dawned on me: England were playing on TV that day, and the Silkmen’s match had been switched to 1pm. Everybody was heading home. Not one to totally waste a lengthy journey, and eager to visit the only other key tourist sites of Macclesfield that I knew, I immediately proclaimed in best Bruce Wayne fashion: “To the Crematorium!” I then proceeded to drag my family to and around Macclesfield Cemetery until we found the final resting place of Ian Curtis, the legendary frontman of the equally legendary Joy Division. Not fully satiated, I moved on to 77 Barton Street as the house where the singer lived – and also where Joy Division came to an abrupt end with his suicide there on May 18th 1980. My wife didn’t speak to me for at least a week.

Gillingham chairman Paul Scally has offered free tickets to an upcoming home game to all of the 254 fans who travelled down to Plymouth Argyle for last Tuesday nights’ 3-1 defeat. Before the game, the Pilgrims had only won once the whole season, with the 3 points gained last week finally lifting the Devon side off of the bottom of League 1. Argyle won promotion to the division courtesy of a second place finish in League 2 in the 2016/17 season, having been in the Championship as recently as 2010. “Everyone at the club was shocked and embarrassed by the performance and no-one should have to pay to watch that” said Scally. The tickets are valid for the Gills’ next five home games, and can be used in any of them. The Kent side currently sit 1 place and 1 point above the relegation zone. 45
Former Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Sebastien Bassong has signed for League 1 side Peterborough United. The Cameroon international, who has 15 caps to his name, as well as 2 at Under 21 level for France, started out his career at Metz, where he was relegated to Ligue 2 in his first season with the club at senior level. After guiding the side to the title the following year, he moved to England in 2008, playing a single season with United before playing 71 times for Spurs, where he scored 3 times and was part of a run to the quarter finals of the Champions League. A loan to Wolves was followed by a transfer to Norwich City, where he spent five seasons, including a loan at Watford. He was released over the summer of 2017, and has since been training with Championship side QPR. He also recently took part in the charity match here at the Hive several weeks ago. “When you have an unexpected break and come back into business it’s like you’ve got a second youth” said Bassong. “It felt like an eternity, but luckily for me I saw it through and now here I am and I’m happy”.

SEBASTIEN BASSONG
Shaun Harvey, the chief executive of the EFL, has announced his plans to lift the ban on supporters drinking alcohol in the stands at football games. The law was passed in 1985 and states that football fans in both England and Wales are forbidden to drink alcohol whilst in view of the pitch, and can only be consumed in concourse and hospitality areas before and after games and at half-time. “To have a blanket ban remaining in 2018 is, in our view, disproportionate to today’s level of risk” said Harvey. “One of the key issues that requires further examination is the fact football is being treated inconsistently with other sports. “The EFL would always request football is given the same opportunities as other sports, so the many law-abiding citizens attending matches who wish to be able to drink while posing no threat to public order are able to do so”. The law was introduced when there was a larger issue of hooliganism in football.

The end of last week also saw Tottenham Hotspur announce that they will continue to play at Wembley until at least the end of the calendar year. They were initially set to play their first game at their new 62,000 seater ground against Liverpool in early September, but its’ opening date has been pushed back several times. The long amount of time taken to move the new ground has had its toll on the club, having had to move this weekends’ game against reigning Premier League champions Manchester City to last night due to a previously arrange NFL game being hosted at the national stadium. Despite these setbacks, last Tuesday saw the club open their new club shop outside the ground, becoming the biggest football shop specific to a single club in Europe. “In light of factors completely outside of our control, contractors missing deadlines and possible future unforeseen issues, we are naturally being cautious” said club chairman Daniel Levy. “All home games will be played at Wembley Stadium up to and including the game against Wolves on 29 December”. He later continue to say that the delays were an “immense disappointment”.
BRIAN RIEMER
Brentford, who currently sit in 15th place in the Championship, have appointed Brian Riemer as the new assistant to head coach Thomas Frank. 40 year old Riemer joins from Danish side FC Copenhagen, where he was the head coach of the Under 19 team. He joins Frank as he tries to find his feet with the West London club, having lost both the games he has been in charge of to date. Frank, who is also Danish, has previously managed the Denmark national team at various youth levels, as well as at Danish club Brondby IF. Frank had been assistant manager at Griffin Park for the past 2 years, but was promoted to manager after former manager Dean Smith departed to take up the vacant managerial role at Aston Villa, with recently retired defender John Terry becoming his assistant. The side have finished in the top 10 in the second tier for the past 3 consecutive seasons.
PEP GUARDIOLA
Pep Guardiola, the manager of reigning Premier League champions Manchester City, has said that this season the Premier League title battle is a “five horse race”. The Spaniard claims that his side are in a five way battle for the trophy along side Liverpool, who are level on points (at the time of writing), Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, who they played last night, all being 2 points behind. “I don’t have any doubt about that. There are only two points difference between five or six teams. It’s strong. Tottenham are always there” said Guardiola. “Last season we did really well in both games, but they are a top team”. He did not include the clubs’ city rivals Manchester United in the title race, having surrendered a win against Chelsea last weekend to a 97th minute goal, leaving them in 10th place before the weekends’ round of fixtures, behind the likes of AFC Bournemouth, Watford and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Although the first round of the FA Youth Cup is taking place this week, the draw for the second round has already been made. Our Under 18 side travel to Peterborough Sports this Thursday evening, kick off 7pm, with the winning travelling to the victor of the game between Hemel Hempstead Town and Oxford United. There are 21 ties at this stage, with the highest ranked sides coming from League 1, with Championship and Premier League sides entering at the next stage. If Wingate and Finchley manage to defeat Kings Langley then they will host either Phoenix Sports or Andover Town. Today’s opponents Salford City will host Crewe Alexandra if they overcome Bradford City. Most first round games will take place this week, with all second round ties needing to be played by Saturday 17th November.

Last week also saw National League South side Dulwich Hamlet announce their return to their Champion Hull stadium, after almost 8 months away. The club left their ground in March due to Meadow, the property developing company who own the stadium, withdrew permission for them to play there. The club and the company have reached an agreement with Southwark council to move the club back to the stadium in “four to six weeks”. Hamlet had been ground sharing the Imperial Fields ground with their local rivals Tooting & Mitcham United, who currently play in the Isthmian League South Central Division.
AHMED ABDULLA
On the move in the transfer market in the past few days is former Bee Ahmed Abdulla, who has now joined Concord Rangers. The Saudi midfielder, who started out his career at Arsenal and West Ham United, played for us during the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons, scoring a total of 3 times in his 33 outings. Whilst with the Hammers, he turned out for Swindon Town and Dagenham and Redbridge on loan, before moving to the Daggers on a permanent basis, being signing by our current manager John Still. His time in East London was short, however, as he moved to us having made just 5 appearances for the club. He was released in the 2014 summer transfer window, before moving to Whitehawk then to Staines Town, before retaining to the Hawks. Short spells followed at Metropolitan Police, Ware and Heybridge Swifts before his departure earlier this month after Swifts’ manager Jody Brown departed the club. He then joined Concord late last week.
